Abstract:
The logistic project resulting from technological progress and social and economic transformations is no longer just a one-off event in the company's life. More and more often, it is a process that sanctions the company's development and investment activity. It can also be a continuous process, aiming at the company's adaptation to the changing environment and market requirements. A process-oriented approach to a logistics project requires a new methodology and a new approach to logistics design and planning. This article is a critical analysis of the literature on logistics projects and project management methods. The authors attempt to redefine the logistic project and describe its basic elements, such as logistic tasks, logistics resources, and other, important for supporting and managing a logistic project employing IT technologies.

Abstract:
Purpose This study aims to assist the project manager in minimising the material logistics cost of road project by planning the optimal movement of aggregate across three stages of supply chain: sourcing, processing and distribution. Design/methodology/approach The paper conceptualises the raw material consumption in a road project as a logistics network distribution problem. A linear programming (LP) formulation is constructed with appropriate decision variables by integrating the three stages of material movement. The series of LP scenarios are solved using an LP solver to decide the optimal movement of the aggregate to be consumed in different layers of road segments. Findings The results obtained from the model show that planning material logistics of an entire road project using optimisation provides substantial saving in logistics costs than using common sense. Further, the magnitude of cost saving improves as the complexity of the model increases in term of enormous feasible options. Practical implications The model shown in this paper may serve as a basis for planning the logistics of raw materials consumed in the road projects. The small improvement in material flows by optimising supply chain shows sensible cost benefit to the project manager and hence control and monitor the overall cost and activities of the project. The output of the model is also expected to help the project team as an input in the decision-making processes such as appropriate material sourcing contract, capacity assessment of material processing facility and transportation planning. Originality/value While the optimisation models are widely used and popular among the many industrial applications, this research shows distinct application of such a model in managing the logistics of the road construction project.

Abstract:
The management of logistics projects is a well known part of management science. But until now, purely quantitative and hard project management techniques like the critical path method and the project evaluation and review technique have been dominant. With this main stream approach, only simply structured logistics projects can normally be managed. The few attempts to use case-based reasoning (CBR) for project management failed up until now because of the difficulties when identifying those projects which contain useful, especially qualitative knowledge for the current logistics project. In this paper we present an ontology-driven case-based reasoning system (SCM Project Recommender), that can measure similarity between knowledge collections, which are written in natural language. The application is implemented using the open source CBR development framework jCOLIBRI.

Abstract:
With the rapid development of a new generation of information technology and data systems, there are more and more modern logistics park projects appearing in China. However, in the process of the construction and operation of a logistics park project, there is often a lack of coordination between the multiple parties (usually the government, the development enterprise and the entered enterprises), which leads to a series of problems such as low efficiency and disordered management and so on, finally affecting the project performance. However, few studies have focused on this phenomenon, and prior studies are unclear regarding the impact of multi-agent collaboration on logistics park project performance. Therefore, in this study, we investigate the link between multi-agent collaboration and the logistics park project performance based on survey data from Yunnan Province in China. The empirical analysis was conducted using the partial least squares (PLS)-based structural equation modeling with Smart PLS 2.0. The data analysis results suggest that the three dimensions of multi-agent collaboration (management, mechanism and information collaboration) have a significant positive impact on the performance of a logistics park project. Under different environmental dynamics conditions, different strategies should be adopted by a logistics park project to improve the performance. This study provides a new perspective for understanding the value of multi-agent collaboration in logistics park projects both in theory and practice.

Abstract:
A large number of smart city logistics projects fail to scale up, remaining a local experimental exercise. This lack of scalability is, in fact, commonly recognized as a major problem. This study aims to determine the key success factors related to the scalability of smart city logistics projects. The process of scaling up, which is articulated as expansion, roll-out, and replication, is defined as the ability of a system to improve its scale by aiming to meet the increasing volume demand. Specifically, this study investigates the scalability intended to be used as expansion and roll-out. A qualitative case study was conducted to fulfill the research purpose. The chosen case study is SMOOTh, a pilot project currently underway in the city of Gothenburg, Sweden, involving a diverse group of companies including Volvo Group and DHL. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with seven of the project’s stakeholders. Through a thematic analysis, four categories and the respective success factors were identified. These were represented by a business model, as well as technical, stakeholder and regulatory factors. The paper concludes with observations and recommendations aimed at the pilot initiatives, adding new perspectives to the upscaling debate.

Abstract:
The construction industry represents an important part of the global economy but is known for many issues such as harmful emissions, low productivity, waste generation, poor ergonomics, and construction incidents and accidents. A logistical view has proved to be a solid basis for improving construction performance while construction logistics centres (CLC) are gaining interest and proposing more services such as Kitting. Since the CLC-kitting-based approach is a new phenomenon, it is still a relatively unexplored topic. Hence, this paper addresses how this configuration could be applied to construction projects and what are its related costs information. The research design is based on a single case study showing the CLC-kitting use by a French general contractor in a student housing project. Data has been collected through site visits, observations, project documents, and discussions conducted with construction managers and logistics planners. Data analysis identified realized effects from deploying CLC-kitting in construction projects. Therefore, recommendations are provided, at both strategic and operational levels, which can be leveraged in similar projects. Finally, an identification of constructions logistics costs shows their distribution along the supply chain and was evaluated at 14.7% over material purchasing price.

Abstract:
Sustainable development today is one of the most important, urgent and comprehensive issues on which the future of humanity and life on the planet as a whole depends. The high growth rates of material production and population, which have been determining factors in the development of civilization in recent years, have led to a sharp increase in anthropogenic pressure on the environment. To reduce it requires a change in the technogenic type of civilization development to another paradigm. The problem of the mankind future in general has come to the forefront of scientific research and public consciousness. One of the ways to implement the principles of the sustainable development concept is convergent management, in which there is a convergence of scientific and methodological foundations of different fields of knowledge to achieve the goals. The purpose of the article is to substantiate the scientific basis of convergent project management of eco-logistics systems. To achieve this goal, the following tasks were set: to determine the role of values convergence in achieving the goals of sustainable development; substantiate the application of logistics, environmental and project management methodologies convergence in projects of eco-logistics systems; substantiate the application of scientific approaches convergence in project management of eco-logistics systems. The convergence of economic and environmental values is due to changes in the worldview of mankind from consumer attitudes to nature to environmentally-oriented development, which meets the goals of the sustainable development concept. Systems convergence is the creation of environmentally-oriented economic systems, which include eco-logistics systems. Management of eco-logistics systems is based on the convergence of project, logistics and environmental management methodologies, as well as the convergence of general management approaches (system, process, scenario) and scientific-natural (biological, environmental, physical) ones.

Abstract:
Decision-making in complex logistics systems involves high risks and associated impacts. A way to forecast the impacts of these decisions is through the use of systems simulation projects, where the systematic impacts of the parameters can be visualized. This study presents a project based on Discrete-Event Simulation (DES) that analyses Brazilian soybean export logistics from producing regions to main international customers. The strategic analysis of a global logistics system using DES is a particularity of this study. At the conception stage, the conceptual modelling was made using IDEF-SIM (Integrated Definition Methods – Simulation) method, which allowed a better abstraction of reality and more accurate model implementation. The experimental analysis took place through the construction of 39 scenarios with specific characteristics that verified system behaviours through proposed changes. The analyses and decisions are based on costs. The simulations indicated the necessity for: a) an integrated management between the systems agents; b) the development of internal transportation infrastructure, especially railways and waterways, to increase competitiveness of Brazilian soybeans in the international market.

Abstract:
Customer satisfaction and continuous improvement are the fundamental goals of construction logistics. While much research has been focusing on exploring the relationship between the contractors and the ultimate customers, known as the owner, to improve the understanding of the significance of customer satisfaction, the need to examine the relationship between material suppliers and contractors is highly in demand. The purpose of this study is to extend the framework for construction material logistics in customer satisfaction from owner to project manager level. This paper examines how construction logistics affect a project manager's level of satisfaction. A survey established the general importance that a project manager must place on the construction logistics. Accordingly, the most significantly correlated factors in customer satisfaction were obtained from a project manager's point of view. Two hundred twenty-three experienced project managers provided valuable data to the study. Five important factors related to satisfaction were found through interviews with project managers and a literature review. These included personnel, material flow, schedule adherence, contractor's organization, and information flow. The study results suggest that material flow and information flow are worthy of the most attention. Satisfying the above factors will greatly improve the construction logistics that will, as a result, immensely increase the project manager's level of satisfaction.Key words: construction logistics, customer satisfaction, project manager, survey.

Abstract:
We analyzed the current state and development prospects of wind power generation in the EU and Ukraine. We detected the trends on many wind power generation impactors in the EU and the Ukrainian's interest in building wind parks. Such trends led to the market development of specialized technical aids for assuring transportation of equipment production elements of wind power units to the installation place. The obtained results gave grounds for directions on developing the logistic services market in the segment of delivery of non-standard on all characteristics of the production equipment for wind installations: weight, geometrical sizes, transportation conditions. We proposed an approach to delegate the management functions and delivery of production equipment for wind-power units to a logistics operator (logistics provider) 4pl-level with a package of services "industry logistics" and "project logistics" as an integrator of material and of accompanying flows. This approach should be helpful to optimize financial costs, time and reduce the level of risks in the implementation of a project to create wind power generation facilities. The involvement of a representative, a logistics operator in project activities, opens up prospects for the life cycle of logistics service for the supply of goods of non-standard dimensions and diversification of the activities of logistics operators in the logistics services market, including through the determination of the KPI for further cooperation in wind farms servicing.

Abstract:
This paper uses a real options approach to address optimal timing and size of a logistics park investment with logistics demand volatility. Two important problems are examined: when should an investment be introduced, and what size should it be? A real option model is proposed to explicitly incorporate the effect of government subsidies on logistics park investment. Logistic demand that triggers the threshold for investment in a logistics park project is explored analytically. Comparative static analyses of logistics park investment are also carried out. Our analytical results show that (1) investors will select smaller sized logistics parks and prepone the investment if government subsidies are considered; (2) the real option will postpone the optimal investment timing of logistics parks compared with net present value approach; and (3) logistic demands can significantly affect the optimal investment size and timing of logistics park investment.

Abstract:
The paper proves the importance of working with the risks associated with fraud in the development of projects related to the transport and logistics business. The main, most common types of fraud are considered. Actions to prevent and reduce the risk of fraud and eliminate its consequences are proposed. The basic parameters of the transport and logistics business are quality, speed and cost. In Ukraine, these parameters often do not meet the established requirements. This is due to the depreciation of fixed assets, on the one hand, and often, low skills of workers who carry out the development and processing of routes. At the same time, some complications are caused by the prevalence of fraudulent schemes due to imperfect legislation and lack of effective control systems and methods. The purpose of the paper is to identify and determine methods to reduce the risk of fraud in project management in the transport and logistics business. Analysis of current practice indicates the need for additional development of methodological and organizational support for the identification of fraud risk in project management in the transport and logistics business. In the process of researching this issue, a set of the most common fraud schemes in the organization and implementation of transportation was identified. There are also a number of common methods for identifying, avoiding, or mitigating their effects. This approach allows us to focus on the need to take into account the likelihood of fraud in project management in the transport and logistics business.

Abstract:
The analysis of the current scientific and methodological principles of project management is performed. It is established that the existing models and methods cannot be used to control the configuration of integrated projects for the creation of logistics systems. The known toolkit provides general approaches to controlling the configuration of projects and does not take into account many factors of the design environment, which determine changes in the configuration of integrated projects for creating logistics systems. It has been substantiated that changes in the configuration of integrated projects for the creation of logistics systems are due to two groups of factors. They can be assessed by four criteria based on the determination of two generalized evaluative characteristics of the influence of the factors of the design environment on changes in the configuration objects of these projects. The scientific and methodological foundations of the configuration control of integrated projects for the creation of logistics systems are proposed, taking into account the changing components of their design environment. To control the configuration of integrated projects for the creation of logistics systems, the use of project management theory and system-factor principles is envisaged, which fully take into account the peculiarities of the implementation of these projects. Based on the proposed model, the impact of internal environment factors of integrated projects for the creation of logistics systems on changes in the configuration object No. 4.1 (a specialized tank truck for transporting perishable goods) was assessed. Significance coefficients are defined for each of the assigned codes (evaluation criteria and factors that determine the configuration changes) of the configuration objects of integrated projects for the creation of logistics systems. Their numerical value is in the range 0…1 and it characterizes the significance of each of the factors for a particular object of the configuration of integrated projects for the creation of logistics systems. Quantitative assessment of the impact of design environment factors on changes in the configuration of integrated projects for the creation of logistics systems is carried out on a 100-point scale.

Abstract:
The article deals with the problem of the logistics risks management in the resource support of construction projects based on the complex accounting of modern approaches to the management of functional areas of logistics and supply chains. It is argued that these issues have not been provided with sufficient attention in the academic publications. The state of the construction industry is examined, and critical analysis is carried out. The distinctive features of risks associated with the provision of construction services, due to their intangible components are characterized. The institutional specifics of regulation in the sphere of construction services are disclosed, and the limits of management of logistics risks through the use of special software are justified. The priorities for managing such risks in the resource support of construction projects are set. The targeted nature of the international quality standards regulation for the management of the organization's risk on the basis of a systematic approach has been argued. The authors point out integration of the risk management in the management of sustainable development of enterprises as an independent functional unit. The necessity of differentiating the management of the design logistics risks in the resource support of construction, and the risk management in the operational logistics activities carried out in course of the implementation of construction projects is substantiated. The contract strategy of the resource support for construction projects, which determines the rules of coordination of the project conditions of supply contracts, logistic coordination of deliveries, procurement placement (including the rationale for the methods of such placement) and rapid response to negative logistics precedents is characterized in the paper. It is concluded that there is a need to coordinate supplies in the projects’ resource support system, taking into account the specificity of the functional cycles of logistics and the applicability of alternative methods of intervening in the operational logistics activities.

Abstract:
Topicality. Technological innovations of the fourth industrial revolution have had a significant impact on the development of logistics and the organization of logistics and transportation throughout the world. These processes were also facilitated by the globalization of international trade, the transnationalization of large companies, and the growth of volumes of commodities’ production, which involves the unrestricted movement of resources and goods between countries and continents, which can only be realized under the presence of a strong and developed transport and logistics infrastructure. The growing role of transport and logistics services is confirmed by the UNCTAD data, according to which 63 % of the World's volume of investment stock belongs to the services sector, 23.4 % of which - to the transport and logistics services. The geo-strategic position of Ukraine allows it being a convenient place for transit transportation of cargoes and passengers between the countries of Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Four Crete transport corridors pass through Ukraine. The transit transposition of Ukraine is an absolute advantage of the country, which makes national market attractive for foreign investors and producers.World trends show, that recently in the sphere of transport logistics, new cargo delivery technologies and innovative approaches to transport infrastructure have emerged. That is why the relevance of the choice of the paper topic is related to the study of the impact of innovative technologies of the fourth industrial revolution on the development of transport logistics. There is a large number of ambitious projects that will be analyzed in this study. This will allow us formulating suggestions on the implementation of the most promising projects of transport logistics to implement them in Ukraine. They will be aimed at increasing the competitiveness of both logistics enterprises and the country as a whole.Aim and tasks. The purpose of the article is to study the impact of innovative technologies on the development of transport logistics in Ukraine and to formulate suggestions on the implementation of the most promising projects into the transport and logistics infrastructure of Ukraine. Research results. The article reveals the main meta-trends in the development of logistics for the nearest future, namely: 3D printing, IoT, UAV, autonomous transport and underground cargo delivery. The analysis of the logistics market showed, that in Ukraine over the past 10 years the development of logistics has showed a predominantly negative dynamics : almost no water transport (only 1 % of total freight turnover); due to the state of roads and restrictions on the traffic of large-sized transport, only recently road haulage has begun to show a positive dynamics, while rail transport is still the main type of cargo transportation in Ukraine. The project of a logistics infrastructure for underground cargo delivery for the Odessa region and Ukraine as a whole is suggested. Within the framework of this project, a possibility, the potential cost and the profit from the implementation of the underground cargo network in Ukraine have been analyzed. According to the analysis, at the expense of the profit from this project, the payback period will be 7 years, and only one year after the project implementation the profit is expected to increase by 51 %. Conclusion. Ukraine has an extremely favorable geopolitical location; several international transport corridors pass through the country, but at the moment the degree of the use of transport infrastructure in Ukraine is rather low. In recent years, the country has been active in supporting initiatives related to the development of international transport corridors, defining their creation and development as a priority direction in the development of the transport complex of Ukraine. According to the analysis, the attraction of investments for the introduction of modern transportation technologies will lead to a significant increase in the profit from freight transportation and will allow Ukraine to take the leading position in the market of logistics services in Europe.

Abstract:
The article explores the specific features of the life cycle and products of the ecological system project in terms of the circular model of the economy, which allows to achieve the goals of sustainable development. The differences between product life cycles (marketing, functional and logistics) in linear and circular economy are determined. The characteristic of the life cycle of the project of ecological system which has differences from the project of a life cycle of the logistic system project, substantiated by features of ecological orientation of this type of projects is given. It is proposed to divide the life cycle of the ecological system project into generally accepted phases: pre-investment, investment, operational, and specific eco-oriented phases: regenerative and liquidation. Recognition of the expediency of taking into account the environmentally-oriented phases of the project is ensured by the use of circular processes that allow to organize the movement of reverse recycling and disposal processes and close the logistics chain. The main task of the final phases of the project is to reduce the eco-destructive impact of the design and operation of the ecological system on the environment. Depending on the method of dividing the project into phases, the duration of each phase, its beginning and end, the result is the product. The model of the life cycle and products in the project of the ecological system has been propagated. The products of separate phases of the project of ecological system are defined, their features are characterized. The connection between the products of the individual phases of the project is observed, which is due to the dependence of the parameters of the products of the previous phases on the properties of the products of the subsequent phases of the project. Product relationships should be considered when designing environmental systems, as this will significantly reduce uncertainty and affect project success.

This article describes an intrinsic case study of project-based learning (PBL) experience involving an NGO as an external client to promote sustainability competencies. Two research questions are posed: (1) How did this experiential PBL approach impact students learning to develop sustainability competencies by incorporating a responsible engineering perspective? (2) How did college students become engaged with social and sustainable PBL projects when external clients of developing economies were involved? The project-based design involved two subjects in the second year of an Industrial engineering degree. The client was an NGO with an existing project to improve the supply chain logistics of three refugee camps managed by women. Students had to cooperatively develop a sustainable proposal for the NGO with a global mindset. Findings obtained from the analysis of the reflections of students and teachers indicate that this methodology helps students to acquire comprehensively learning outcomes and to develop sustainability competencies. Sustainable and socially responsible engineering were achieved through a methodology that considers the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and engages students in real projects. This approach promotes student awareness on the importance of their actions and their personal behavior as engineers, including a gender perspective, while training them to move towards SDG4 and 5.

Abstract:
Due to the construction industry’s eagerness tolifting adversarial trends and realising the benefits of good relationships, the current research intends to investigate the construct of relationship quality in construction projects; especially in the eventof a conflict. An interdisciplinary construct is derived using a three step methodology and wide range of theories from a comprehensive literature review. These theories range from relational marketing to relational contracting and construction project management. A conflict process model is used to outline the association of conflict and relationship quality in construction projects. Concepts such as psychological meaningfulness, psychological availability, resource availability, aligned-commitment, teamwork, performance satisfaction and trust are attributed to relationship quality. An interdisciplinary construct with antecedents, core attributes and outcomes are achieved. Conflict is demonstrated as a potential antecedent of relationship quality. Finally, moderating factors such as actions and strategies, some of which could be used in conflict management are identified as moderators of relationship quality. By identifying and mapping all the possible components in relationship quality, its different constructs and potential interactions can be recognised. This is extremely important in future investigations of relationship quality in relation to construction project issues and trainingproject teams. The choices of components for the construct are extracted from existing literature; however other components may be of effect which are not included and explored in the future. The model can be used to achieve project integration goals and joint problem solving strategies.

Abstract:
Over the past decades, the construction industry has been attracted to modular construction because of its benefits for reduced project scheduling and costs. However, schedule deviation risks in the logistics process of modular construction can derail its benefits and thus interfere with its widespread application. To address this issue, we aim to develop a digital twin framework for real-time logistics simulation, which can predict potential logistics risks and accurate module arrival time. The digital twin, a virtual replica of the physical module, updates its virtual asset based on building information modeling (BIM) in near real-time using internet of thing (IoT) sensors. Then, the virtual asset is transferred and exploited for logistics simulation in a geographic information system (GIS)-based routing application. We tested this framework in a case project where modules are manufactured at a factory, delivered to the site via a truck, and assembled onsite. The results show that potential logistical risks and accurate module arrival time can be detected via the suggested digital twin framework. This paper’s primary contribution is the development of a framework that mediates IoT, BIM, and GIS for reliable simulation which predicts potential logistics risks and accurate module delivery time. Such reliable risk prediction enables effective supply chain coordination, which can improve project performance and the widespread application of modular construction.

Abstract:
This study presents an investigation into the extent to which emerging building information modelling (BIM) can be applied to construction logistics management (CLM). Given the specialist nature of the domains, the study employed an in-depth qualitative interview, whereby six experts were interrogated about their experiences of BIM for CLM. The study found the main applications of BIM on CLM to be the creation of three-dimensional (3D) site layout plans and four-dimensional (4D) coordination of site processes and common user plant, updating the 4D logistics plan as the project progressed and collaboration in BIM-based logistics coordination. Furthermore, there was a consensus amongst interviewees on improvement in site safety, comprehension of logistics information, efficiency on site, and effectiveness of layout planning as the main benefits. Lastly, the lack of training with implications on understanding was one of the main barriers to applying BIM to CLM. The findings from this study have the potential to stimulate the uptake of BIM by construction logistics practitioners. By so doing, the performance construction project delivery can be improved, and waste can be minimised or eliminated.

A definition of a transport and logistics project is given, and its main (production / delivery of packages to a warehouse / terminal, loading and unloading operations with packages, storage of packages, transportation of packages) and additional (processing/reconstruction of packages; money movement) processes are separated. The technological process of planning and realizing the transport and logistics operations is considered in detail. There have been singled out the specific features of the transport and logistics process, including many stochastic factors, necessitating the use of simulation modeling methods. In terms of the theory of organizational systems, the structure of the management system for a transport and logistics project is proposed. The managed entities - the processes of the transport and logistics project - are described and structured in detail. The control actions, parameters of the external environment and the state of the transport and logistics process are highlighted. A model of decision-making by controlled subjects has been built. It is noted that the value of management efficiency is determined by the chosen strategy for the development of the transport and logistics process. A simulation model of a transport and logistics project for the delivery of equipment for a wind power plant is considered using the system analysis of processes. The description of the submodels of the simulation model is given in accordance with the developed generalized structure of the transport and logistics process management. The experiments have been carried out, the optimal production rates have been identified for a transport and logistics project of delivery of equipment for a wind power plant
