Autor analizuje kwestię powierzchni: powierzchni kina i ekranu, przestrzeni, która wydaje się płaska, a jednocześnie ukrywa i odsłania dziwną głębię. Przyglądając się pierwszym filmom braci Lumière i innym wczesnym produkcjom, a także wykorzystując sformułowaną przez Toma Gunninga metaforę „absorpcji” i „połykania”, autor próbuje opisać szczególny moment kolizji pomiędzy widzem a energią filmu. Gest, w którym to zderzenie się dokonuje, przypomina połykanie. Lippit postrzega kino jako rzeczywistość dwustronną, gdzie powierzchnia stanowi granicę pomiędzy tym, co wewnętrzne, a tym, co zewnętrzne.

The goal of the thesis is to study geodesics on surfaces of constant Gaussian curvature. The first three sections of the thesis is dedicated to the definitions and theorems necessary to study surfaces of constant Gaussian curvature. The fourth section contains examples of geodesics on these types of surfaces and discusses their properties. The thesis incorporates the use of Maple, a mathematics software package, in some of its calculations and graphs. The thesis' conclusion is that the Gaussian curvature is a surface invariant and the geodesics of these surfaces will be the so-called best path

Abstract High-pressure valves and fittings used in coal-fired 600/625 °C power plants are hardfaced for protection against wear and corrosion and to provide optimum sealing of the guides and seats. Stellite 6 and Stellite 21 are often used for hardfacing, which is carried out by build-up welding, usually in several layers. The valve materials are generally heat-resistant steels such as 10CrMo9-10 (1.7380), X20CrMoV1 (1.4922), or Grade 91 / Grade 92 (1.4903 / 1.4901).
