Abstract:
This paper is one of the outcomes of the PicsAR (Physics Augmented Reality) research project that is focusing on the evaluation of students’ abstract thinking skills while utilizing augmented reality (AR) in the atomic model. The sequence of the research has emerged into three steps: developing, validating, and the evaluation of the PicsAR. The research utilized an ADDIE model: “Analysis-Design-Development-Implementation-Evaluation”. In Spring semester 2019, the authors conducted these steps and resulted in a pocket of PicsAR booklet and AR application based on Android. Then, the trial of application was conducted to 33 students in private high school in Surabaya, Indonesia. Parameters of evaluation included the quality of PicsAR, impact on students abstract thinking skills, and the research outcomes. The results indicated (1) the process of developing AR in atomic model fulfil the criteria of product quality: validity, practicality, and effectiveness, (2) performing of students’ abstract thinking skills reached at least 66.67% in the combination of good and very good categories of all reasoning categories, (3) through PicsAR research project resulted in two prior publications and one property right. The atomic model is one of abstract physics concept representative in presenting the use of augmented reality in physics learning; therefore, the recommendation of this research is another abstract physics concepts should address the use of AR as a media for learning.

Abstract:
AbstractThe paper explores the current state of the university-business cooperation at EU, and national level, and it seems that a more structured university-business cooperation might enable universities to adapt their curricula to meet labor market requirements better. A project was designed to address this issue and received funding on a national merit-based competition. During project implementation, exploratory surveys have conducted, findings-based solutions have adopted in practice with promising results. The paper presents the conceptual framework of the Adapt2jobs project, the main activities, and results and how these converged with the current trend in university-business cooperation. The study limits emerged from the scale of the project implementation, and from the response rate registered at the business cohort. Nevertheless, the paper has a clear, practical value which demonstrates that the university-business cooperation can be efficient in curriculum adaptation to the labor market requirements. The study has a real potential for duplication in a wider context, and a comparative analysis is needed to identify good practices in the field, nationally and internationally.

Abstract:
AbstractGlobal project virtual teams are increasingly common as organizations strive to maintain a global presence, find top and diverse talent, and cope with economic constraints. They include members from multiple nations and cultures who must work together while being separated by time and space. An internal research, which has been conducted in an international company active in the industrial sector of financial services, provides few insights into how integrating the Western values of individualism and low power distance with the Eastern values of collectivism and high power distance may influence cross-cultural conflict management. The purpose of this paper is to directly examine the impact of organization-level collectivism and individualism as well as high and low power distance – in case of global project teams that include Romanian and Indian experts – in order to determine the interactive effects of these factors on cross-cultural conflict management. The authors sustain the idea that understanding intercultural dynamics can facilitate collaboration and reduce conflicts in intercultural encounters at the individual, organization, and probably societal levels. Methodological approach is to use both secondary literature survey and primary research methods as interviews and short case-examples from authors’ direct consulting experience while working with global project teams. This pilot study – as part of a larger research project – contributes to fill one gap in the understanding of culturally heterogeneous project teams and is the starting-point for additional investigation in this area.

Abstract:
Abstract Tourism is one of the areas which is constantly making progress. While 10 years ago tourists enjoyed a holiday by the sea in a beautiful resort with even more beautiful weather and clean beach, eventually winter holiday in the ski resort with regularly adjusted slope, enough snow and comfortable accommodation, today it is different. Based on a survey among the clients of the Slovak travel agency it was found out that the clients are interested in the trip involving the climb on the Matterhorn mountain which has not been offered in the proposition yet. Travel agency together with the specialized academic workplace processed the trip project for more demanding clientele to this less common destination, this means on Matterhorn mountain, accompanied by the mountain guides. This way the travel agency gained a competitive advantage because no other Slovak travel agency organizes a tour of this type. It has to be considered the safety of the participants of the trip and wind conditions in the final destination. The profit margin was established at 45%. Under the term „ demanding clientele” we mean the clients who do not long for a stay at the seaside but on the contrary they love to increase adrenaline and are not afraid to test their abilities in extreme situations. There is a competition not only among the individual travel agencies but due to access to information via the Internet there are more and more tourists who are able to arrange a demanding sightseeing trip to various countries themselves. The special exception is mountain tourism and climbing which is demanding for the accompanying services – providing mounting guides, transport of the backpacks in hilly terrain. Climbing is the risky sport, it is necessary to have a secure professional accompaniment.

Abstract:
Abstract The context of public governance outsourcing social services and constantly downshifting its role creates the premises for increasing impact of crowdsourced social entrepreneurship and grassroots mobilization. The study envisions the innovative concept of social entrepreneurship by crowdfunding through a sports event, with Swimathon as study case, where most of Romanian NGOs are active to promote their calls for fundraising. Swimmer-participants are fundraisers who take on a challenge (e.g. swimming a target distance) with the aim to raise funds, in teams, for the causes they support. This fundraising event involves donors in a participative setting that combines short-term volunteering and crowdfunding. The research aims to understand practices by which crowdfunding projects grouped into categories navigate constructs on time. The ensuing research questions are as follows: What typology of time orientation do crowdfunding projects in the Romanian landscape of sports-oriented social entrepreneurship display? What do they shift, reshape, and build on in terms of time agency, time management and time empowerment? The current study seeks to uncover and chart patterns of time-bound discursive strategies that aim to attract donors for crowdfunding projects in Romania. It brings forth questions of power and influence, by explaining and synthesizing the variety of manners in which trade-offs and synergies and modelled and mapped. The thematic analysis of fundraising calls for action is structured two-fold, namely: the denotative and the connotative dimension of time. The first component reveals time agency, time use and time management as keynote discursive trends, whereas the second reveals the following categories: time and emotion, quality time and time pressure. Metaphors of time used in the discourse over sustainability appeared coupled with pressure to intervene fast. Findings gathered by connotative discourse analysis induce the idea of grassroots mobilization and individual agency to the forefront, whereas social structures of institutional support are afforded background importance. The study ends with a discussion on implications of using time cues for emerging trends in the build-up process of Romanian crowdfunding projects.

Abstract The body of knowledge related to the impact of IT on project management (PM) acknowledges the driving and restraining forces for PM software implementation. However, the peculiarities of such kind of approach have received little research attention at the level of Romanian public institutions. This paper addresses this research gap in the attempt to outline how PM software becomes the key enabler of solution to level the resources involved in multiple projects managed in the same time by a public institution from higher education system. The methodological approach involves a case study, which highlight the value of IT support in the process of identifying and leveling the overallocated resources within multiple project management.

Abstract:
Abstract Accessing EU funds is considered to be an important development chance for all type of beneficiaries in Romania: public bodies, nongovernmental organizations and firms. The grounds for this are the amount of funds available per beneficiary and the co financing rate (for example, the investment projects for firms amounted up to 5 million Euro of EU funding at a EU co financing rate up to 70%). As the Romanian responsible authorities strive to conduct a fast and smooth process, the reality shows the funds accession is rather unpredictable and costly, both in terms of time consumption and financial resources. Lots of causes contribute to this situation, amongst which the inefficient risk management conducted, both by the state authorities responsible with the EU funds management and by the beneficiaries of funds. The effects are visible: a poor absorption rate of the EU structural and cohesion funds (79,23% at the level of January 2017 for the 2007-2013 financial period). The authors' research follows the importance that risk management should have in the process of managing and accessing EU funds. The research methodology starts from the responses that 170 people involved in managing EU funded projects within 2007-2013 financial period gave to an online questionnaire carried on in 2016. The focus was to establish if and how risk management methodologies/procedures/guidelines were used within the implementation of projects and in what measure this kind of approach should be compulsory or optional for the financial period 2014-2020. The research methodology further implied the analysis of key issues for projects financing such as: feasibility and opportunity determination, budgeting, projects' evaluation, etc. The main finding of the research is that applicants and beneficiaries need to implement project level risk management methodologies. Based on this, the authors propose a guideline for drafting project level risk management methodologies, that put into practice might increase predictability during the preparation and implementation and reduce the additional costs of the EU funded projects. It is envisaged that this guideline should be treated as recommendation in order not to enable abuse of regulatory actions from the part of the managing authorities.

Abstract Starting from the existing situation, in order to understand the mechanisms underlying investment projects financed from public funds in Romania, we analysed the following public sources of information: For projects implemented before 2007, we analysed data available on the Internet, including databases of international donors such as www.dgmarket.com, http://www.ted.europa.eu/, etc. We analysed data made available by the Public Procurement Electronic System through the portal http://data.gov.ro. The data set analysed includes over 8 million awarding contract notices. For the EU funded projects, we requested the Ministry of European Funds to offer us access to the relevant database (SMIS), which includes all the projects financed under the European funding programme 2007 – 2013 (projects implemented before 31.12.2015). Comparing data from all these sources leads to the conclusion that the information is coherent and represents a credible basis for our analysis. We found that 48% of all investment projects implemented in Romania in 2007 – 2016 and co-funded under European funds (in terms of the share of eligible expenses) requested outsourcing services for the preparation of the project documentation needed to apply for funds; such expenses represent almost 3 % of the total eligible project expenses approved. Almost 36% (in terms of the share of eligible expenses) of all investment projects implemented in Romania in 2007 – 2016 and co-funded under European funds, revealed a strong and long term relationship between the company that participates in the elaboration of the grant application and the beneficiary of funds. This collaboration continued throughout the implementation of the project. These companies delivered services / supplied goods / carried out construction works whose value exceeds 15 billion lei, which represents over 54% of the total eligible costs of the respective projects.

This paper presents an evaluating method to optimize the sustainable development of high-speed railway (HSR). HSR is a quickly expanding business in China and without exception it has both advantages and disadvantages. There are many factors, such as planning, design, construction, operation, consumer utilities, public participation, environmental protection, economic analysis, influencing the sustainable development of HSR. Aiming at the main factors influencing it, a series of indices are picked up and the evaluating method is established which is based on the grey relational analysis (GRA). By using this index, the closest to the best sustainable development state is selected in similarity HSRs. The result shows that the evaluation method based on GRA is simple and scientific and has a potential prospect. The major contribution of this research lies in developing a formal evaluation framework for the sustainable development of HSR and providing useful managerial insights.

Abstract:
Abstract Many ideas flow into the innovation funnel but only 1 out 3000 becomes a successful new product. There are many variables that interact in this complex process and investors decisions are often based on experience and feeling rather than a comprehensive evaluation of the social, economic and technological factors. The innovation potential, the innovator capability, the accessibility of the technology as well as the social acceptance and the chosen business model are the some of the critical factors of a successful innovation strategy. In the broad sense, a business model is the approach of doing business through which a company can sustain itself and generate profits in the long term. Digital platforms can help manage and facilitate the complexity of value propositions and provide an immediate feedback to the entrepreneur. Creating value is necessary, but not sufficient, for an organization to profit from its business model. It is important to see the whole picture of the business that is why the business models are so important for a good start of the business. However, innovation assessment and business model development sometimes are not an easy task and ICT can make this process easier. Then, the aim of this paper is to explore the role of digital platforms as facilitators for the techno-socio-economic impact assessment and the development of sustainable business models through the analysis of a case study from the EU Horizon 2020 “i3 project”.

Abstract:
Abstract The digitalization process of the business activities has increased tremendously in the last fifty years, revolutionizing several fields of activity, such as communication, medicine, production, transport, as well as all aspects of the daily social, economic and political processes. Furthermore, the IT field has developed new ways of innovating, including new management models in the production field, that allow management of IT companies to become more customer-oriented in a dynamic competitive field. As technological progress is becoming present in every aspect of everyday life, the pressure for innovation and customer involvement represent the two main challenges of producing successful prototypes and final products for the IT market. The purpose of the present paper is to analyze two of the main product development business model trends in the IT field, namely Waterfall model and Agile model, the latest being an adapting strategy to increased customer requirements and the changing business environment. In order to ensure a practical approach the case study was based on the analysis of their implementation within the company Avira Soft S.R.L. The results of the study emphasized the benefits of using the Agile model at Avira Soft S.R.L starting with 2011 in comparison to the previous model of Waterfall product development. The relevance of the paper consists in the fact that the two models indicate how the IT product development business models are evolving depending on environmental factors and the need for continuous adaptation and innovation due to increased competition. The Agile model brought improvements of the Waterfall model, but also new challenges regarding the organizational culture, communication between members of the company and more pressure for continuous improvement. However these two models are an example of how the IT product development business models are evolving and they form a basis for future product development strategies.

Abstract:
To meet the needs of the increasingly rapid and parallelized lead optimization process, a fully integrated local compound storage and liquid handling system was designed and implemented to automate the generation of assay-ready plates directly from newly submitted and cherry-picked compounds. A key feature of the system is the ability to create project- or assay-specific compound-handling methods, which provide flexibility for any combination of plate types, layouts, and plate bar-codes. Project-specific workflows can be created by linking methods for processing new and cherry-picked compounds and control additions to produce a complete compound set for both biological testing and local storage in one uninterrupted workflow. A flexible cherry-pick approach allows for multiple, user-defined strategies to select the most appropriate replicate of a compound for retesting. Examples of custom selection parameters include available volume, compound batch, and number of freeze/thaw cycles. This adaptable and integrated combination of software and hardware provides a basis for reducing cycle time, fully automating compound processing, and ultimately increasing the rate at which accurate, biologically relevant results can be produced for compounds of interest in the lead optimization process.

Abstract:
Abstract Over the past few years the global oil and gas industry has been going through a severe market downturn. Despite recent signs of stabilization, oil prices have a long history marked by volatility. In this context, it is imperative for oil companies to optimize their capital allocation, as this might support risk mitigation. The purpose of this paper is to offer a tool that might support the strategic decision-making process for companies operating in the oil industry. Our model uses Markowitz’ portfolio selection theory to construct the efficient frontier for currently producing fields and a set of investment projects. These relate to oil and gas exploration projects and projects aimed at enhancing current production. The net present value is obtained for each project under a set of usersupplied scenarios. For the base-case scenario we also model oil prices through Monte Carlo simulation. We run the model for a combination of portfolio items which include both currently producing assets and new exploration projects, using data characteristics of a mature region with a high number of low-production fields. Our objective is to find the vector of weights (equity stake in each project) which minimizes portfolio risk, given a set of expected portfolio returns. The model is of particular interest for companies operating in Eastern Europe, or in any other mature region. It can also support divestment and acquisition decisions since these may place the company’s portfolio closer or farther away from the efficient frontier. The model is highly versatile and can be implemented on any software with an optimization package such as Microsoft Excel.

AbstractInsurer’s reaction in case of a severe event, in Romania, especially in Bucharest is well known that is more than difficult, mainly due to the existing resources that need to be appointed in a short time to a high number of reported cases. The lack of a clear plan to react, at the national level, by all authorities is showing that Romania is not prepared properly to react in case of an earthquake similar with the one in 1977. Romanian authorities in the insurance industry strive to find a fast and smooth process, to inspect the claims in due time, but the reality shows that this plan is not linked to reality, and, as it is currently described as project by PAID will definitively fail to it purpose. Current legislative framework and procedures shows that the process of handling a claim in case of a big volume of files will be more than difficult even could lead to a blockage in the system. The authors’ research follows the importance that claim inspection, identification of risk and claim file opening should have a total different process even a disruptive one via an online solution or special app. The research is starting from a plan of PAID which is mentioning that all resources available in the insurance companies to be combined and managed through a special command force under PAID supervision. The main finding of the research is that the Romanian insurance market need a totally different approach in order to assess the claims and in the same time the fact that currently discussed project, initiated by PAID cannot be applied in the existing environment due to many conflicts even with the EU legislation. A new modern solution to provide to the clients best services in the promised time is required to exist and to be applied in the moment of the event.

Abstract:
Purpose: The aim of the study was to establish the moderating effect of project environment on the relationship between constrained programming and project outcomes in United Nations Agencies in Kenya.Methodology: A cross sectional survey is a method that involves the analysis of data collected from a population, or a representative subset, at one specific point in time (Orodho, 2011). This design is used to gather data on more than one case at a single point in time in order to collect a body of quantitative data in connection to the variables. The study picked data for projects and sought to investigate the concept trends and status of project outcomes at a particular period (2014-2018).Results: The results indicated that the geographical environment affect project outcomes (4.565); Social Cultural environment inhibit project outcomes (3.875); Beliefs and traditions affect project outcomes (4.670); Political instability hinders success of project outcomes (3.734) and technological changes affect project outcomes (3.713). The findings revealed the moderating effect of project environment on the relationship between constrained programming and project outcomes in UN agencies in Kenya.Contribution to policy, practice and theory: Humanitarian projects should realize that in the present project environment, constrained programming forms an important element of intangible assets of the UN agencies. These should be reconfigured to ensure that the projects seize opportunities, are proactive in the market place, make new product and process innovations.

Abstract:
Abstract The brand of a university is the result of the interaction between the vectors it uses to position itself in relation to its stakeholders. Among these, high school students who aspire to become students play a key role. The way in which the university is perceived by its main recruitment base (the high school environment) is crucial for the capacity of the university to recruit the best qualified candidates. Considering there is a lack of a coherent project by either the higher education system or the secondary education system that looks into the high school students’ choice of an educational trajectory, there is a need for in-depth research about the motivational mechanism that drives future students to opt for a certain university. In order to fill this gap, the present study aims to research the vectors that drive the high school students’ choice of a university programme. It is a quantitative, sample research conducted on high school students in the last year of their programme, in representative high schools in one of the districts of Bucharest. The method used is the survey, the technique is that of face-to-face interviews, and the instrument used was the semi-structured questionnaire. The second research is an exploratory qualitative study conducted on the class tutors of the high school students; its purpose is to describe, with the help of some hypotheses, their preoccupations throughout the pedagogical process of career orientation. By changing the perception of the academic environment, this can help promote social cohesion and a synergy between the processes of accumulating knowledge and those of stimulating creativity and innovation in the university environment. The present study aims to contribute to this project and is based on the literature that reflects the experience of some of the most important schools in the international context, as far as the recruitment of future students is concerned.

Abstract:
Abstract Innovation means creativity and added value recognise by the market. The first step in creating a sustainable commercialization of research results, Technological Transfer - TT mechanism, on one hand is to define the “technology” which will be transferred and on other hand to define the context in which the TT mechanism work, the ecosystem. The Innovation Audit is a component of the analysis of innovation capability potential of SMEs and R&D Institutions together with TO - Technology Offer, TR - Technology Request in the field of economy, technology transfer. We created a methodology and a tool that will support the entities that work in the field of technology transfer and innovation to analyze the company’s capacity to be innovative, to create competitiveness. The Innovation Audit tool developed will be available online for all the users interested, in the conditions described above, which makes them accessible beyond the members of the consortium and their home regions and countries. Also, since the development process will be part of the financing project, all the consultations, reports, analyses, inputs and feedbacks will be available to any interested party which can replicate the process in other fields or in other regions. Actually, this would be highly desirable, as it would lead to building a stronger network of support for innovation and technology transfer that can lead to an increased competitiveness of European enterprises (especially SMEs) in domains important for the future life and welfare of European citizens. The Innovation Audit tool developed is readily transferable to the organisations from all the countries along Danube, involved in the “Made in Danube” project that are active in the domain of bio-economy. This is due to the fact that they will be conceived starting from the real needs of these organisations and in line with European level guidelines and international best practices and come to fill a know-how niche that is under populated at the moment.

Investigations in the El Multaga area, located in Upper Nubia, brought to light Neolithic burials differing from other known local and contemporary burial sites. The skeletons lay under moundS in a very contracted positions inside pits just large enough to contain them. Grave goods are not regular and rather poor. The authors feel that such practices probably relate to local nomadic groups. The cemetery which had not been picked up by research surveys was discovered in a salvage project.

I started Tigre en Papier to set a small business, but it gradually became more of an artistic project in the period when hand-made products spread. Soon, I learned that I did not have the nature for that kind of job as I am rather liable to experiment and changes. The name of the project was picked haphazardly and means “seemingly dangerous”; the origin of the expression is supposedly Chinese, but I preferred the stylish vibration of its French translation. From fashion to installation, Tigre en Papier traverses a multitude of mediums, through which it expresses ideas such as ephemerality, identity, or deception. In many of my pictures, I arrange juxtapositions, reinterpretations of pretty well-known subjects, and various intersections.

Abstract:
Coffee is one of the most valuable agricultural commodities and ranks second on international trade exchanges. The genus Coffea belongs to the Rubiaceae family which includes other important plants. The genus contains about 100 species but commercial production is based only on two species, Coffea arabica and Coffea canephora that represent about 70 % and 30 % of the total coffee market, respectively. The Brazilian Coffee Genome Project was designed with the objective of making modern genomics resources available to the coffee scientific community, working on different aspects of the coffee production chain. We have single-pass sequenced a total of 214,964 randomly picked clones from 37 cDNA libraries of C. arabica, C. canephora and C. racemosa, representing specific stages of cells and plant development that after trimming resulted in 130,792, 12,381 and 10,566 sequences for each species, respectively. The ESTs clustered into 17,982 clusters and 32,155 singletons. Blast analysis of these sequences revealed that 22 % had no significant matches to sequences in the National Center for Biotechnology Information database (of known or unknown function). The generated coffee EST database resulted in the identification of close to 33,000 different unigenes. Annotated sequencing results have been stored in an online database at <A HREF="http://www.lge.ibi.unicamp.br/cafe">http://www.lge.ibi.unicamp.br/cafe</A>. Resources developed in this project provide genetic and genomic tools that may hold the key to the sustainability, competitiveness and future viability of the coffee industry in local and international markets.

Abstract:
Abstract The Energy Union is an important issue on the agenda of the European Commission, which is addressed in the package “Clean Energy for All Europeans”, adopted by the European Commission in November 2016. The present paper deals with the role of the Energy Union in ensuring an optimal framework for a common energy market at the level of the European Union, aimed for the benefit of the consumers in the European Union and of a modern and functional business environment. Which perspectives opens this possible win-win situation is a topic to be analyzed in the present article. The Energy Union is a stronger form of integration within the European Union, related to the internal market of the European Union, which brings more than harmonization of standards and mutual recognition: it brings a common policy and shared values. The goal of this project is to ensure consumer protection through common rules and harmonization, which is a trend at the level of the European Union occurring in various fields of activity and business sectors, such as the Energy Union, the Banking Union, data protection and the competition framework. The main focus on the consumer is new, compared to former attempts of harmonization in specific fields. The challenge rising from this project is to achieve a union in a strategic sector, such as energy. Possible aspects that could hamper the building of the union will be analyzed, for example the fact that some member states of the European Union still rely on fossil fuels, such as the coal industry. The switch to renewable energy sources is related to high costs, as well as to social turbulences on the labour market, that have to be taken into consideration. When drafting measures for the Energy Union, the effects on climate change as well as socio-economic parameters have to be weighed, in order to find the proper balance. It is therefore important to draft appropriate measures ensuring a smooth transition from fossil fuels to Clean Energy. The present paper focuses on these measures proposed by the European Commission. The key elements of the Energy Union will be analyzed in the measures drafted by the European Commission in the package “Clean Energy for All Europeans”. Case studies will illustrate the debated aspects and will provide best practice guidelines as a result. An interdisciplinary approach will be used in the present paper, combining economic and legal issues in a comparative manner.

Abstract:
Abstract During the last years, gamification has been a burning issue and a subject of scientific discussions. Gamification is an innovative solution to foster motivation. It relates to the use of game elements in non-game contexts. By applying game mechanics to training and other business critical processes, organizations can improve employee engagement, boost productivity and lift operational performance. Over the last few decades, it has been noticed the significant enhancement of time spent attending meetings. Meetings are essential for the organizations, they improve the effectiveness of a company team working and are necessary for human relations. Nevertheless, in many cases meetings are considered as a waste of time. There are very few scientific papers that regarding the use of gamification for business meeting changes. The study seeks to explore the behavioural change of participants towards business meetings after introducing a business game, in order to come up with an interesting solution that might be useful for other researchers and practitioners in understanding the use of gamification in similar contexts. With regard to this aim, a single-case holistic design methodology is used and qualitative approach using semi-structured interviews with gamification experts and project managers is applied. This paper contributes both to the scientific literature and to managerial implication.

Abstract:
AbstractWith the integration into the European Union (EU) in 2007, growth opportunities have arisen for Romania. In terms of rural area and agriculture, National Rural Development Programs (NRDPs) are implemented, through which funds are granted from the European Union and the Government of Romania, for the economic and social development of the rural area. In this context, entrepreneurial initiatives for rural development have been encouraged, and many SMEs were given the opportunity to be eligible for European funding. The NRDP 2014-2020 continues the efforts for rural development, through strategic objectives, allowing entrepreneurs to implement their business ideas and sustain the development of the rural communities. The paper aims to analyze how the European funding influences the development of rural entrepreneurship in Romania. The study will comprise an analysis of the existing results of the NRDP 2014-2020, referring to annual evaluation indicators of the project implementation (number of jobs created in supported projects, percentage of rural population targeted by local development strategies, etc.). The methodology focuses on interpretation of the latest statistical data from trusted sources, as well as analysis of the official documents and reports (e.g. NRDP 2014-2020 annual report). This paper will contribute with accurate results and discussions concerning the role of EU funds for the rural communities. Also, the study will describe some of the challenges that Romanian rural entrepreneurship still faces after implementation of European funding programs and unresolved issues.

Abstract:
The project Myths and Idols, by the French photographer Travis Durden, came into being in 2015 by means of digital technology. The artist processed photos of nine selected modern sculptures, mostly related to ancient matters, in order to provide them with the attributes or heads belonging to the heroes of the famous Star Wars saga. The sculptures chosen by Durden for his project had been created by European artists (French sculptors and one Italian master) and they are exclusively of an early modern provenance (arising from the Renaissance, Classicism, and Neoclassicism). Not a single work of ancient art is included. However, the classical (ancient) art itself became an object of the Parisian sculptor’s interest in terms of taking early modern art into account as the artists of the latter patterned themselves on ancient samples and picked up ancient subject matters. Likewise, Star Wars in turn constitutes a product of the American pop- culture frequently referring to motifs which had originated in ancient culture. The article discusses all nine photo collages and the whole project is being interpreted. Myths and Idols offers an example of the double reception of ancient culture – the early modern and contemporary ones.

Abstract The world boundaries are broken with the advancement of technology and the emergence of digitized industries where economies are connected via the cloud. As a result, effective management of information internally and externally is needed to cope with the quick changes in markets. For a long time, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems have been used to streamline company processes data, and hierarchy. ERP’s are capable of managing big data, integrating business processes and providing effective communication channels within the entire organization. ERP’s provide many benefits to businesses if implemented right. However, an alarming 70% of ERP implementations fail. The failure can very well bankrupt the organization and at the same time affect the vendors very negatively. The aim of this paper is to discuss the critical success factors in ERP implementations from the employees, management, consultants and vendors perspectives. Prior research has identified critical success factors for ERP implementations but none classified them according to the above perspectives (employees, management, consultants and vendors). Surveys were conducted with 60 ERP project participants including senior managers, employees and vendors. A regression analysis was made to investigate the relation between the success of ERP implementations (dependent variable) and the contributions of employees, management, consultants and vendors (independent variables). The study shows that there exists a positive relation between successful ERP implementation and the following: management support, employees’ motivation, training, management, vision, and professional consultants. Add to that, the study aids managers and ERP participants to identify the major success factors that must be implemented for the objective of having successful ERP deployment.

Abstract:
Abstract In recent years cyber terrorism has become increasingly used with the globalization of technology and people’s access to high-speed internet. It takes place exclusively in the online environment, the advantage being that it offers an increased level of anonymity to users. Terrorist groups are targeting the misappropriation of social media accounts, focused on Distributed Denial of Service activities, exploiting communications services and banking services for fraudulent misappropriation of financial accounts. Cyberterrorism generates very high costs for the national economy, such as the involvement of specialists for detecting and correcting intrusion, declining productivity and income, costs of information theft, regaining the reputation of an institution or company, the costs relating to the resumption of production and the provision of services, the loss of information concerning intellectual property, financial manipulation using stolen information, the cost of securing computer networks and assuring them in the event of intrusion, costs generated by the time spent on recovering stolen data. In 2018 both the US and Egypt took action on these activities, the US modified its national cyber strategy and Egypt adopted the new law project to combat cybercrime. The main cyber threats they face are: threats of intrusion and sabotage of IT infrastructures, cyberterrorism and cyberwar, threats to digital identity and theft of private data, malware programs. The targets of the attacks were public sector entities, financial organizations, health care organizations, retail and accommodation. The reasons for why hackers attack these organizations are money-related, malware infected by emails, commercial and industrial espionage.

SummaryBackground: Treatment of patients picked up by emergency services can be improved by data transfer ahead of arrival. Care given to emergency patients can be assessed and improved through data analysis. Both goals require electronic data transfer from the emergency medical services (EMS) to the hospital information system. Therefore a generic semantic standard is needed. Objectives: Objective of this paper is to test the suitability of the international nomenclature Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes (LOINC) to encode the core data-sets for rescue service protocols (MIND 2 and MIND 3). Encoding diagnosis and medication categories using ICD-10 and ATC were also assessed. Methods: Protocols were broken down into concepts, assigned to categories, translated and manually mapped to LOINC codes. Each protocol was independently encoded by two healthcare professionals and in case of discrepancies a third expert was consulted to reach a consensus. Results: Currently 39% of parameters could be mapped to LOINC. Additional use of other coding systems such as International Statis -tical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD-10) for diagnoses and Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical Classification System (ATC) for medications increases the rate of ‘mappable’ parameters to 56%.Conclusions: Although the coverage is low, mapping has shown that LOINC is suitable to encode concepts of the rescue services. In order to create a generic semantic model to be applied in the field our next step is to request new LOINC codes for the missing concepts.

Abstract The aim of the paper is to provide a consistent literature review on the importance of structural convergence for the countries within the same economic area focusing on two main topics: the structural similarity problem of countries within an integration area and the evolution and development of the union itself (in line with Chenery and Singer’s approach). We aim to synthesize the most referential findings of the literature and project them on the most recent events in the European Union pointing out the relevance of structural convergence and of the continuation of the process under a reassessed form. The relevance of studying the structural convergence process lies in the medium and long term implications related to the synchronization of business cycles, long-run development patterns and of the dynamics of specialization. Moreover, the topic is of high interest both in the context of the future evolution of the European Union and in the decision making process of adopting the Euro in Romania’s case. On the side of theoretical papers, there is a rich literature on structural change that generally recommends that economic structures and the differences between them should be the starting point for analysis and development of theories of economic development. We believe that the preoccupations for this topic should be recalled in the context of the European events and new facets should be explored. Along with the views expressed in the European Commission White Paper, that the form will follow the function, we emphasize the importance of designing the proper institutions at European Union and Eurozone level, but also at national level with taking into consideration the goal of advancing towards structural convergence.

Abstract Given the current challenges of climate change our society is dealing with at a global level, the European Union develops a new energy policy based on clean energy. The package “Clean Energy for All Europeans”, which has been adopted by the European Commission in 2016, contains measures for a new energy policy at the level of the European Union, based on promoting an Energy Union by following a harmonized framework and common objectives. Considering this European policy debate an interesting topic, the present paper deals with the research question what will be the reaction of the business environment to the energy policy measures proposed by the European Commission in terms of innovation. Indeed, it focuses on innovative solutions based on clean energy, that will arise for achieving the three dimensions of social, economic and environmental sustainability, such as smart cities. The initiative of helping the development of smart cities is currently supported by the European Commission in the project “European Innovation Partnership on Smart Cities and Communities”. Innovative measures are related to new financing schemes for the new projects, as new investments are needed for implementing innovative solutions. Case studies from different Member States of the European Union, e.g. Italy, Austria and Romania, will illustrate the concept of smart cities and their development in the European Union allowing for an in depth analysis and comparison among the different business models implemented. The present work presents a mixed method approach based on the combination of both qualitative research methods, such as multiple-case studies and quantitative methods, represented by the analysis and triangulation of data and indicators provided by European institutions. Furthermore, this study presents a multidisciplinary perspective, considering aspects of European policy, European law, business and economics.

Abstract:
AbstractThe more developed new and sophisticated technologies are, as in the energy sector, paradoxically, the more critical people are in terms of competences. A prophecy for 2020 was that machines and robots would replace people. It happened mainly for routine activities. Therefore, humans remain a crucial element in the technology world, especially in high-risk areas, such as nuclear. Companies developing, using high-risk technologies employ people with high-technical knowledge - not enough. Poor communication, failing leadership, improper management, decision reluctance, generation gap, lacking teamwork competencies were human errors that caused accidents. Besides technical competences, these people also need consistent training and workshops on soft skills, leadership, and strategy. Besides generic skills, requirements for training staff in long-life cycle technologies should consider: specific reaction patterns for various generations; the high-risk technologies are a combination of technologies with various durations, e.g., Silicon-based digital technology life cycle is about five years. However, the digital technology evolution to new ones, like quantum computing, may trigger unexpected interfaces with the underlying reactor technology, dominant in a nuclear plant, and requirements for training of staff. Extended use of the well-trained competencies can make the difference between life and death; Training? Because it is a combination of knowledge and practice; Coaching? Because it generates new behaviors in ordinary situations and improves the work-unit relationship; Leadership? Because there are moments when people need someone leading them to accomplish tasks efficiently. The methodology used to investigate such aspects was of team-group interviews for diverse generations involved in a nuclear project for risk analyses and master students, by using the same combination of training and coaching exercises. The paper presents the results of these investigations, considering the aspects mentioned and contributes to raising awareness of strategic development approaches for employees to aim at the emergence of new leaders.

Much of what has been reported in the literature has an anecdotal nature. The development of knowledge management as a distinct domain has historically been influenced by research undertaken in a wide range of disciplines. These disciplines include sociology, psychology and philosophy. Since the early 1990s, research in the area of knowledge management has expanded into contiguous areas such as change management, systems theory, organizational theory, organizational learning &development and artificial intelligence. During the past years, there has been a great deal of interest in knowledge as an organizational and commercial variable, with the need to better understand the processes of knowledge transfer in organizations. In this paper, I present and develop the following questions: What kind of knowledge should we transfer? How should we transfer knowledge between entities? What is the impact of knowledge transfer on organizational performance? To develop the previously mentioned questions, a quantitative research based on a questionnaire has been applied on a sample of 100 people who are working in a certain shared services centre. The main purpose of the research is to identify the impact of knowledge sharing on organizational performance and to analyze the importance of having a solid base of information in order to achieve excellent organizational performance. The result is that knowledge transfer has an impact on the company’s vision, continuous learning and business performance. The way knowledge is managed in a company is crucial to gain a competitive advantage, this being recognized by the respondents as important for achieving the following goals: project success and self-improvement.

Abstract:
Abstract The European Commission has the initiative to foster the sector of renewable energy and to build an Energy Union, with a common energy market at the level of the European Union, but is this only an utopic vision or is this possible to achieve? The topic of clean energy is very new and of great interest for the European Union, which is shown by the fact that the European Commission recently adopted on the 30th November 2016 the package “Clean Energy for All Europeans”, which contains proposals for the modernization of the energy market at the level of the European Union. But which are the challenges such a project is confronted with? According to the literature, such challenges are related to the process of liberalization of electricity markets. Conflicts between national interest and international actors of the energy market might occur. Due to the oligopolistic structure of the energy market, there are several barriers to the market entry. In order to answer to the research questions, case studies regarding the liberalization of the energy market will be analyzed in a comparative manner, offering an international overview. Furthermore, the legal provisions on which the common energy policy of the European Union relies, will be analyzed, as well as their economic and social impact. The package “Clean Energy for All Europeans” comprises a proposal of the revised Renewable energy Directive, energy efficiency measures and issues related to the Energy Union Governance. It contains as well proposals for the electricity market design, which will be analyzed and the present paper outlines the contribution of this proposal in building a common energy market of the European Union. What role does competition play in implementing the common energy market of the European Union? Which role do competition authorities have in this context? These are interesting aspects to be analyzed in the present paper.

Abstract:
Abstract Consumer behavior is shifting radically with the rise of e-commerce and new technologies. As a result, luxury retailers are forced to embrace a variety of technologies to keep their customers engaged. How do brands captivate shoppers and provide the customer experience that will satisfy their desires? Through dissemination of literature and case studies on examples from the industry, this paper presents a detailed discussion on the new approaches to customer experience in the luxury fashion industry, in the context of a modern economy that is highly shaped by disruptive technological innovations. The discussion includes two detailed case studies, focusing on two key themes that define contemporary customer expectations: the story – discussing customer’s desire to be immersed in the narratives behind catwalk collections, and the experience – discussing the use of technology to create a unique retail space through the use of online and mobile specific technologies. The first case study focuses on how new technologies provide brands with new opportunities to present their products through narratives. Using famous luxury retailers Dior, Givenchy and Prada as examples, the case study provides a detailed discussion on the use of virtual reality and augmented reality as tools that enable customers to project themselves into the story behind a catwalk show and become active characters in the narrative, through the use of technological devices. The second case study focuses on the importance of merging the online and the traditional brick-and-mortar store. “The Store of the Future”, by luxury retailer Farfetch is used as an example of how retailers make use of high-tech equipment, virtual reality and augmented reality not only to create a tech-powered interactive experience that will intrigue customers, but also to improve retail productivity by capturing customer data. The study adopts a qualitative research method to evaluate the validity of the concepts discussed in the Literature Review, using a sample of three in-depth interviews with industry experts, focusing on the use of technology to improve customer experience in physical retail spaces. Based on previously published research, it is estimated that the primary research will indicate that it is not the use of technology that drives the customer experience, but customer expectations that determine the adoption and adaptation of disruptive technologies to satisfy the shoppers’ requirements.

Abstract:
The art world changed forever when Jackson Pollock picked up a can and poured paint onto a vast canvas rolled across the floor of his windswept barn. Fifty years on, art theorists recognize his patterns as being a revolutionary approach to aesthetics. A significant step forward in understanding Pollock's aesthetics occurred in 1999 when my scientific analysis showed that his paintings are fractal. Fractals consist of patterns that recur at finer and finer magnifications, building up shapes of immense complexity. Significantly, many natural patterns (for example, lightning, clouds, mountains, and trees) are also fractal. In this essay, I will present some personal reflections on this relationship between the fractal patterns of Pollock and those of nature, and also on the interactions between art and science as the project evolved.

Abstract:
According to the GEM Ireland Report (2009), those who have exposure to entrepreneurship education in Ireland have an increased propensity to start a new venture. The importance of entrepreneurial skills was picked up by the European Union which, in its Lisbon Strategy of March 2000, declared its objective of transforming Europe into the most competitive and dynamic knowledge-based economy in the world by 2010, and indicated that it considered entrepreneurship to be one of the ‘new basic skills’ for this knowledge-based economy. This paper examines how Irish HEIs can improve their provision of entrepreneurship education to promote positive economic growth. In particular, the authors explore the approach, process and research of the Accelerating Campus Entrepreneurship Initiative, which is a collaborative project involving five Irish HEIs aiming to produce entrepreneurial graduates in Ireland.

Abstract:
The present article is a part of the project "Linguistic structure of binomial botanical denominations". It explores the denominations of botanical genera that originate from the names of different mythological characters – deities, heroes as well as some gods’ attributes. The examined names are picked based on “Conspectus of the Bulgarian vascular flora”, Sofia, 2012. The names of the plants are arranged in alphabetical order. Beside each Latin name is indicated its English common name and the family that the particular genus belongs to. The article examines the etymology of each name, adding a short account of the myth based on which the name itself is created. An index of ancient authors at the end of the article includes the writers whose works have been used to clarify the etymology of botanical genera names.

Abstract:
Background: The Clificol® COVID-19 Support Project is an innovative international project set up during the current crisis to register cases of Covid which received adjunctive homeopathic care. Aims The project aims to describe the demographics, geographic specificities, and time-courses of the cases and shed some light on the notion of Genus Epidemicus in the context of this infection. Beyond this, the project aims to use the data to tackle more fundamental questions in homeopathy, such as the notion of Individualization and the 'Law of Similars’. Methodology: This online multi-national data-collection project receives the support of ECH, ECCH, ICH, HRI, LMHI, and other professional associations; the Governance Committee now consists of 11 representatives, representing 197 associations. The study is designed as an observational study, and standardized consent terms were used to gather anonymized data. The collected data consists of demographic information, severity, conventional diagnosis, treatment, presenting symptoms, and a remedy prescribed at each consultation. The course of the condition is tracked using the ORIDL scale. Besides basic statistics regarding demographics, the notion of Individualisation is investigated by analyzing whether presenting symptoms cluster into tight groups as would be expected by the homeopathic principle of Individualisation (K-Means clustering approach). The connection – Law of Similars – between symptoms and a successful remedy are analyzed using logistic regression modelling (SPSS). Results and discussion: Up-to-date demographic data will be presented at the conference. The preliminary analysis picked up the two most common remedies pictures corresponding to Gelsemium sempervirens (Cluster 1) and Bryonia alba (Cluster 3). Interestingly it found another remedy picture (Cluster 2), which had a much lower success rate (75%) compared to cluster 1 (99%) and 3 (100%). In the preliminary analysis, statistically significant regression models for Gelsemium and Bryonia were built. These show that indeed there is a consistent link – that can be statistically modelled - between sets of symptoms and a successful remedy. With sufficient data, the modelling can be extended to explore the notions of ‘Keynote Symptom’ and ‘Three-Legged Stool’ to see whether such key symptoms or sets of symptoms do indeed come out from the analysis. The approach is limited by the natural inclination of homeopaths to see the symptoms of remedy they think is required in the patient. We hope to be able to use the data to shed some light on this type of bias. Conclusion: The data collected during this pandemic offers a unique opportunity to shed light on some of the core principles of homeopathy. The preliminary analysis is presented to demonstrate the potential of the approach and how powerful it can be provided enough data is gathered. The Clificol COVID-19 data collection project, currently supported by most organizations worldwide, requires more cases to fulfil its ambitious aims.

Abstract:
Does learning more about trees teaches a child to preserve them better? Lithuania is a land of forests. We simply cannot imagine our lives without trees and grasslands. They play a huge role in our lives and they are vital to nature in general. The experience of an educator, being able to observe children‘s day-to-day activities, has proven that the relationship beetween a nowadays child and nature is quite problematic. Not only do they not know much about it, sometimes they can become harmful to nature. Children like to play in a meadow, pick flowers, but sometimes they also like to violate trees and litter. Parents don‘t always have time to tell their children about environment protection, so they leave it to the teachers. The main goal of this project was to give children knowledge about nature, the damage people can cause upon it and, most importantly, induce children‘s love towards the world around them and a desire to cherish nature. The project continued for 4 weeks in a pre-school group (age 6-7). In the course of this project we conversed, read children literature about nature, children made rules, created little books about trees, solved crosswords, searched encyclopedias, performed experiments and took photographs of various objects outdoors. We also visited a museum of Vilnius forests and an oak grove in Dūkštai, where children picked garbage, planted seeds and had a chance to create freely. The theme of our project proved itself to be quite relevant – children gained more knowledge about nature and understood the harm people can cause on our environment. Keywords: experiment, observation, nature, environment protection.

Abstract:
AbstractThe need to create a competitive framework of the Romanian education system and the current needs of the labor market have aroused the interest of the human resource in the pre-university education, which manifests its interest towards the European funds that can be attracted in the field of education and which are necessary for the creation of a context that raises the education system to the standards of the European Union, a fact also demonstrated by the legislation in force. By the Government Decision no. 76 / 27.01.2005 and the Government Decision no. 67/2007 has been designated the National Agency for Community Programs in the Field of Education and Vocational Training (“Agency”, AN), as an agency for implementing the community programs “Lifelong Learning” (LLP), “Youth in action” (YiA) and Erasmus Mundus from 2007-2013. This document included the Europass National Center, the Eurydice National Unit and the Eurodesk National Office in the AN. In 2013, through the Government Memorandum no. 10988/ 09.12.2013, AN was designated as the Implementing Agency for the Erasmus + program, from 2014-2020, having as a mission the administration of the European Union program that supports the national project for the better change of communities, attitudes and mentalities of individuals. Erasmus + is the EU program in the fields of education, training, youth and sport for the period 2014-2020. Education, training, youth and sport make a significant contribution to combating socio-economic change, to Europe’s greatest challenges by the end of the decade, and to the implementation of the European policies for growth, jobs, equity and social inclusion. Combating the rising unemployment rate - especially among young people, has become one of the most urgent tasks of European governments. Too many young people leave school prematurely, thus risking becoming unemployed and socially marginalized. The same risk threatens many low-skilled adults. The technologies change the way the company operates, so their full use is necessary. European companies need to become more competitive through talent and innovation. Europe needs more cohesive and inclusive societies that enable citizens to play an active role in democratic life. Education and youth activities are essential elements for preventing radicalization through violence and by promoting common European values, social inclusion, enhancing interculturality and a sense of belonging to a community. Erasmus + is an important tool for promoting the integration of people from disadvantaged backgrounds, of newly arrived migrants, responding to critical events affecting European countries. The Erasmus + program aims to help the countries participating in the program to effectively use Europe’s talent and social capital, in a lifelong learning perspective, by linking the support provided to formal, non-formal and informal learning in the fields of education, training and youth.

Abstract:
The past year has brought substantial progress in the development of functional and structural genomic tools for strawberry. Sequencing of cDNA library clones from the cultivated strawberry Fragaria × ananassa and the diploid model species Fragaria vesca has provided more than 3000 new EST sequences. We have also constructed a large (∼40 kb) insert genomic (fosmid) library from F. vesca. About 33,000 fosmid clones have been picked and spotted onto hybridization filters. Filters have been successfully probed with three single copy gene probes, one gene family probe, and chloroplast DNA (cpDNA) and mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) probe sets. The combined cpDNA and mtDNA clone content of the library is about 11%. After correction for organelle insert content, the nuclear genome coverage of the library is about 6×. Complete sequencing of two fosmid clones identified 12 putative protein-encoding genes, four of which were organized in colinearity with the corresponding chromosomal region of Arabidopsis thaliana. We will sequence an additional 50 fosmid clones, and use the resulting sequence data as the basis for developing a novel marker technology, to be described. These genomic tools will provide a basis for connecting specific genes to specific traits in the octoploid, cultivated strawberry, paving the way for implementation of gene-based, marker assisted selection as a tool for strawberry breeders. Opportunity for cross-species comparisons of gene sequence and composition, as well as genome organization and linkage group structure, between Fragaria and other members of the economically important Rosaceae family has been significantly enhanced, thus expanding the relevance of the project results to peach, cherry, apple, rose, brambles, and many other Rosaceous species.

Abstract:
The varved sediment profile of Lake Suigetsu, central Japan, offers an ideal opportunity from which to derive a terrestrial record of atmospheric radiocarbon across the entire range of the 14C dating method. Previous work by Kitagawa and van der Plicht (1998a,b, 2000) provided such a data set; however, problems with the varve-based age scale of their SG93 sediment core precluded the use of this data set for 14C calibration purposes. Lake Suigetsu was re-cored in summer 2006, with the retrieval of overlapping sediment cores from 4 parallel boreholes enabling complete recovery of the sediment profile for the present “Suigetsu Varves 2006” project (Nakagawa et al. 2012). Over 550 14C determinations have been obtained from terrestrial plant macrofossils picked from the latter SG06 composite sediment core, which, coupled with the core's independent varve chronology, provides the only non-reservoir-corrected 14C calibration data set across the 14C dating range. Here, physical matching of archive U-channel sediment from SG93 to the continuous SG06 sediment profile is presented. We show the excellent agreement between the respective projects' 14C data sets, allowing the integration of 243 14C determinations from the original SG93 project into a composite Lake Suigetsu 14C calibration data set comprising 808 individual 14C determinations, spanning the last 52,800 cal yr.
