Full textThe development of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Education, and more specifically in higher education, raises a certain number of questions with regards to: the generalization of such technologies; the ‘digital revolution’, which inevitably promotes the instigation of changes to our teaching and learning processes including that of learning how to learn; and the development of an architecture to support the application and deployment of tools and instruments serving this digital revolution in the higher education sector. The technological framework is evolving very quickly, with new actors, new tools and new projects. Experience in ICT in Education is becoming wider but without necessarily accompanying a global development of the tools applied by many different projects. The objective of this research project, which works to provide an understanding of the current situation, is not to offer a direct response to the question ‘which tool will enable widespread integration of the ICT in Education’? Instead we propose a new approach based on a systemic view of projects which use digital technology in higher education. This systemic approach targets an understanding of the complexity of such projects, which first and foremost stem from human situations. In the light of this, the aim is not to overcome the technical problems but to take into consideration the collective development of such projects by the actors of the system, based on a shared objective in response of specific challenges

Full textThis thesis focuses on the reciprocal relationship between graduate studies in technology and the professional world. The chosen theoretical approach combines a didactic approach to technology and a didactic approach to profession. The results of the study underline the effects of one of higher education's particularities: the curriculum is established by academics, not professionals. The analysis focuses on the translation of a professional situation into that of academic instruction, via a computer-simulator. The results of the study describe the chain of events required to carry out such a translation: the analysis of the professional situation aimed at, the modelling of the pertinent technical concepts, the consequent creation of a relevant curriculum of study and the eventual application outside of the classroom. The didactic application outside of the classroom has to do with the study of how didactic systems work. Depending on the students' profiles, a certain variation can be traced in the technicity register; in the case of technological training, the educational project enters the classroom. How pertinent the instruction is in the classroom relies heavily on the study of didactical systems? Some of the variables concerned include the technical aptitude of the students

Full textOur dissertation focuses on the teaching and learning of computer knowledge to beginners in France. It aims to understand how beginners implement and build computer knowledge. We used a qualitative methodology mobilizing ethnographic observations, questionnaire, semi-structured interviews and the analysis of official instructions and textbooks. We also conducted a comparative study of the practice of both school and university students, on the one hand, and teachers, on the other hand. Results show contrasting situations between secondary schools and university. In high school, algorithmic curricula exist within mathematic education. In this case, practice is influenced by four factors: motivation (related to representation), professional development for teachers, youth in business and pedagogical approach. The practice mainly focuses on a logical approach to algorithmic using work paper and pencil: programming is limited, and when it occurs, it is often with a calculator but rarely with the Algobox language. Among students, algorithms are perceived as a new domain in the mathematics programs, but different from both mathematics and informatics. Very good students in computing are generally good at math. Another elective course, specifically about informatics, has also been recently implemented for grade 12 students. It welcomes students of all profiles, but with different motivations, from the discovery of computers in a formal context to a shelter against other elective courses: their practices are manyfold. Within ISN, they discover computers through various forms of education and problems of increasing complexity. Teacher practice is influenced by their original education, with a lack of experience for non specialists teachers. At the University level, students show more advanced practice. They produce computer programs are often sophisticated and incorporate elements from various external sources. The mathematics knowledge invested by students is often modest. If students in lycée and university are all computer beginners, the differences in practice between them seem linked to the specific skills of teachers. In addition to teacher's training, motivation is fundamental to adhere to this teaching/learning and support practice, both for teachers and students

Full textThis research work aims at describing the origins, principles and application procedures of training schemes referred to as " training-development within rural territories through training programmes. The term first came out in 1977 during a campaign launched to train the rural population of the French département of Ardèche. Maurice ALLEFRESDE, a geographer at the University of Lyon (France), was put in charge of this campaign by the French " Délégué Régional à la Formation Professionnelle (DFRP) " (regional delegate to vocational training) of the Rhône-Alpes region. By implementing an experimental pluriannual training programme in internally-generated development methods in 1982, The European Social Fund emphasized the part training can play in local development. In various locations in France (Vosges, Pyrénées, Creuse, Tarn and Aveyron), different organization methods can be assessed and innovative approaches to training methods in territorial development can arise through this pilot-programme Nowadays training-development is implemented in a very specific way : it applies to a definite area as a whole and involeves its entire population. Training contents are being designed and adapted over the duration of the programme so as to adjust to the demand of the population. Training-development schemes have their own structure made of a specific partner, of " pilotes éducatifs " (educational instructors) or " conseillers en formation-développement " (advisors on training-developement) and support groups. Finally, with training-development, the territory itself emerges as a new partner within the French vocational training system, next to the company or the individual

Full textAmong the technical and scientific studies, the evolution of the computer sciences draws attention. From the 1980s, more and more men have chosen this field but in the same time, the number of women has remained the same. To explain this masculinisation, we have considered several hypotheses. First, we have observed computer science inherited representations from both mathematics and technology, especially at school. Then, we have narrated a psycho-history of computers to bring to light the power phantasms of computer's founding fathers. We have seen how computers open a window on a virtual world of rules where computer scientists play God. Thereafter, this computer fantasy reached computer scientists through science-fiction and micro-computers. By studying computer scientists' discourses and questionnaires completed by first-year science students, we observe the computer scientists' image has changed in the past 30 years. Before the micro-computer, ICT jobs were service industry scientific jobs. They were quite attractive to female scientists. Then, the representation of the computer scientist sticks on a man solely enthralled by his computer. However, computer scientists have many motivations and interests which have led them to choose this career. Unfortunately, women have difficulty in finding their place because of the stereotype pregnance. Moreover, in opposition to men, female students often choose this career thanks to their representation of their future job which is in touch with the reality of the workplace. It appears to be crucial to communicate about the ICT jobs at each step of school counseling

Full textIn industralised countries the duration of schooling stretches out, and more and more people have a high academic level. In a French context of high rates of unemployment and more particularly among young people, institutions promote the alternation as "the" solution (and more particularly the training through apprenticeship). The alternation would have virtues in terms of professionalisation and insertion in the field of employment by the logic of adequacy training-employment. However the population of the students on work-based training is not a faithful mirror of the composition of the young people in training on the national territory in terms of social mix, sex or origin. Among these young people, some-are choosing a sandwich training of higher education – the objective of which is fast insertion – with different fates : the market of employment or the pursuit of their training. In this context, our research is interested in the elaboration of the project of orientation and professional of the students on work-based training. The objective of this research is to understand the better dynamics of the processes during this period and their impact on the projects, and their realisation at the end of the training. In this context, our work is concretised by qualitative and longitudinal research with a focus on the relations between the environments, the behaviour and the person. The analysis shows that recruitment is a "forced" encounter between companies of different sizes and candidates with different purposes and origins (specialities, training paths, status). This encounter produces different effects throughout the training according to the biography of the individuals without upsetting the gender habitus of the world of work

Full textCommunication of change is the framework used to analyse the introduction of distance learning technologies withnin the organisations-institutions of the publis sector. The practices of change are led by collectives of grass-roots actors, university researchers, whereas in these large university institutions, change is traditionally led by strategic actors. A comparative international study conducted in French and Brazilian universities shows that practices of change, even if they are inferred by an international context, involve the structuring of the collective of grass-roots actors in an artefact-organization finalized around the new project. The actors thus engage in a strategy of communication, first to experiment change through an artefact-type of communication, the though an institutionalizing process. This search for recognition comes within the scope of an enlarged organization at infra, micro, meso, macro and metalevels, where power relationships create a twofold organisational recomposition : from change to university organisations-institutions, but also university organisations-institutions, but also from organisation-institutions to change, through the impetus given by the macrolevel

Full textThis thesis focuses on the project-based learning activity in a high technological school. The study shows that the students are organizing their works in complete autonomy calling on collaboration and cooperation. It also shows that the two categories are connected by a cause and effect relationship. Furthermore this study explains the three coordination types that the students are calling on to achieve their project. The mediation of the teacher is only aimed to support, guide, encourage and assess the two learners all along the learning process. The design and implementation project is considered as a way of stimulating the learners to reinvest previously acquired knowledge and at the same time to build up new theoretical knowledge during the project development. This construction is carried out jointly with the creation of new technical and professional skills. All this acquired knowledge are inter-acting each other to build student’s competences. Those competences are used and assessed during the trainee period in the company
