Abstract:
The article examines the functions performed by the demonstrative pronoun ть (тоть) in business texts of the XIV-XV centuries, written on the territory of the Moscow Principality, Novgorod and Pskov lands. Examples of usages were analyzed and combined on the basis of what function demonstrative pronouns have in each case (anaphoric, articular, determinative function (word-substitute subordinate clause), cataphoric). In the case of an anaphora, an analysis of the antecedent was performed — an expression naming the object, person or situation to which the pronoun refers. Particular attention is

The study is devoted to Russian pronouns which children use in grammatical position of a direct object. The aim of the research is to consider the distinctive features of the pronouns belonging to different semantic groups. Additionally, the paper is an effort to answer the question if the connection between the position of the object in the sentence and the semantics of the pronoun is relevant when mastering the language, i.e. to discover pronouns of what classes are more likely to be associated with the object syntactic function in children’s speech. The origin of the 1st person plural pronoun (ìè) was not in doubt for a long time. The form *my was unanimously recognized as the nominative case form of the 1st p. pronoun for the Proto-Slavic language. The presence in Bulgarian and Macedonian of the form íèå in the nominative case in a certain way disrupted the systematic nature of the described phenomenon. In the 2nd half of the 20th century, a number of hypotheses were put forward regarding its origin. Abstract In 1986 the French writer Anne Garréta created a minor literary sensation with her novel Sphinx. The novel was greeted as a tour de force by French critics for its complete avoidance of gender markers in connection with the two main characters. We begin our examination of the functioning of gender in French with an analysis of this novel because of its extremely marked nature. The absence of the expected gender markers demonstrates, by its effect on many different structures in the text, how these markers usually function. It is productive to analyze the feminine generic correlates of animate masculine names as intra-linguistic grammatical lacunae. The study of these forms in the paradigm of lacunarity theory allows us to focus on their linguistic and pragmatic characteristics. The gender of nouns in traditional grammar is not accepted to be classified into categories whose functioning is determined by communicative parameters. Moreover, even in communicatively oriented grammatical descriptions, gender is qualified solely on formal syntactic grounds, since for inanimate nouns, obligatory formal agreement on gend

Do the special features of 'I' have epistemological and metaphysical implications? Many philosophers have thought so. Here I investigate the relation between the first person singular pronoun 'I' and the first person perspective, construed as the perspective of consciousness. First, I discuss the semantics of 'I' as a lexeme of a natural language. The fact that semantic reference and speaker reference always coincide in the case of 'I' is shown to have important consequences: it explains the 'referential guarantees' and the impossibility of 'misidentification' which have seemed so mysterious.
