Monitoring of drinking water (DW) biofilm formation under different process conditions was performed using two distinct bioreactors: a Propella™ and a flow cell system. Biofilms were grown on polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and stainless steel (SS) coupons under laminar (Reynolds number: 2000) and turbulent (Reynolds number: 11000) flow. The parameters analysed were the numbers of total and cultivable bacteria. The impact of different process conditions was assessed after the biofilms reached steady-state. Abstract Aims Haemodynamic load induces cardiac remodelling via mechano-transduction pathways, which can further trigger inflammatory responses. We hypothesized that particularly in an inflammatory disorder such as myocarditis, a therapeutic strategy is required which, in addition to providing adequate circulatory support, unloads the left ventricle, decreases cardiac wall stress, and mitigates inflammatory responses. Methods and results Axial flow pumps such as the Impella systems comply with these requirements. Here, we report a potential mode-of-action of prolonged Impella support (PROPELLA

Presently, the majority of podded propulsion systems are of the pulling type, because this type provides better hydrodynamic efficiency than the pushing type. There are several possible explanations for the better overall performance of a puller-type podded propulsor. One is related to the difference in hub taper angle. Puller and pusher propellers have opposite hub taper angles, hence different hub and blade root shape. Abstract:
Background and objectives: Radial neck fracture if not propely managed can lead to complications including pain and avascular necrosis. The Metaizeau technique of closed intramedullary pinning is a treatment option and it is the aim of this study to assess its outcome. Methods: Metaizeau technique was used in managing radial neck fracture of 21 children at two emergency hospitals in Erbil, Kurdistan region, Iraq. between July 2018 and September 2019. Postoperative outcome were assessed according to the Metaizeau classification and Mayo performance score to assess degree of residual angulation
