Abstract:
The mechanisms of electrical conductivity of BiSrCaCuO (2223) films in a wide range of structural states are investigated. In the amorphous state (ρ= 103– 1010 Ω · cm), the films exhibit jump condutivity with a varying length of jumps. As the crystalline structure starts being formed (ρ= 10–103 Ω · cm), the electric properties of the films resemble the properties of granular films with an exponential dependence of resistivity on the separation between granules with the metal-type conductivity up to the transition to a state with metal conductivity (ρ ≃10−2 Ω · cm). The results of investigation of mechanical, electrical, thermoelectric and tribological properties of metal-fullerene film composites of Ni-C60and Ti-C60systems is presented. It has been found that doping of metals with fullerenes leads to a significant increase in the strength of the material, and a change in the electrical, optical, and other properties of the material. It is established that metal-fullerene films are characterized by low friction coefficients and high wear resistance. It is experimentally shown that metal-fullerene composite thin films possess a capacitive impedance, that t

We report on Raman spectroscopic investigations with cold condensed films of silver chloride, thallium chloride, and sodium chloride in the absence and in the presence of cocondensed metal. With films of 1000 nm -2000 nm thickness, Raman signals only can be seen if small silver particles are present. These are either cocondensed particles or they are formed by photolysis of silver chloride. At low temperatures, noncrystalline films can absorb light from the exciting laser, while at room temperature also crystalline silver chloride can be photolyzed by the argon ion laser. The signals are interp

The second one contains metal oxide and amorphous. The results of work shows that oxidation of a metal phase displaces percolation bound to area of the big metal concentration. Abstract:
We established measurement and analysis techniques necessary to investigate the optical properties of some transition metal compounds: specifically the carbides and nitrides of Ti, Zr, and Hf. Two distinct techniques determined the optical constants of these films: a Nestell-Christy method to invert measurements of thickness, reflection, and transmission and a Kramers-Kronig analysis of reflection. The compositions of the samples were evaluated by X-ray diffraction, Auger spectroscopy, scanning electron microprobe analysis, and nuclear analysis. We found it possible to correlate these material

Abstract:
The goal of the thesis is to make contributions to the development of two new technologies for data storage: perpendicular recording and magneto-optic recording. CoCr and rare earth-transition metal multilayers are the most suitable media for perpendicular recording and magneto-optic recording technologies, respectively. In part A of the thesis, magnetic properties of CoCr thin films produced by dc magnetron sputtering are studied for various deposition conditions. Dielectric constants and extraordinary Hall effect are also studied to provide information complementary to magnetic properties. I

Abstract:
Silver films of less than 5 nm mass thickness are discontinuous and have unusual optical properties. The optical constants calculated from Maxwell–Garnett theory predict the discontinuous film to be birefringent, have a large refractive index, and have highly anisotropic extinction coefficients. The polarizing properties of waveguides containing such a film are examined theoretically and experimentally. Extinction ratios of 35 dB/mm at 836 nm with 2 dB/mm loss for the TM polarization have been measured on ion-exchanged waveguides overlayed with an ultrathin silver film.
