Abstract:
The Property (Relationships) Act 1976 is generally regarded as progressive and inclusive. The Act applies an equal property sharing regime to married spouses, civil union partners and de facto partners. It does not, however, recognise other sorts of close domestic relationships such as those between a parent and adult child or between siblings. This is in contrast to Australia where a number of jurisdictions have conferred relationship status on domestic relationships. This article considers whether there is a similar case to be made in New Zealand for extending property rights to people in do

Abstract:
The knowledge of physicochemical properties of organic compounds becomes increasingly important. In this study, we developed UPPER (Unified Physical Property Estimation Relationships), a comprehensive model for the estimation of 20 physicochemical properties of organic compounds. UPPER is a system of thermodynamically sound relationships that relate the various phase-transition properties to one another, which includes transition heats, transition entropies, transition temperatures, molar volume, vapor pressure, solubilities and partition coefficients in different solvents and etc. UPPER integ

Abstract:
There is great interest in the plant Cannabis sativa (hemp) as a source of technical fibres for the reinforcement of polymers in composite materials due to its high mechanical properties. As a natural fibre hemp also offers biodegradabilty and is therefore an inexpensive and renewable alternative to glass fibres However, the environmental benefits of natural fibres cannot be fully exploited if the manufacturing of their composites involves polluting processing steps. Unfortunately, there is still a lack of environmetally sustainable processing methods yielding technical fibres of suffic

Abstract:
Thesis (PhD (Chemistry and Polymer Science))--University of Stellenbosch, 2009<br>Polypropylene is an extremely versatile material and has a broad spectrum of applications due to the variations in properties which are possible with this material. The variations in the properties of the material are governed by the microstructure of the chains constituting the polymer. The microstructure varies according to the production methods, i.e. the polymerisation conditions. Varying the manner in which the polymer is produced therefore changes the properties of the material allowing the polymers’ u
