Full textIn recent decades mindfulness has been included in different psychotherapeutic models, mainly with the aim of promoting psychological well-being and reducing symptomatology in clinical contexts. For this reason, short and reliable measures are needed to measure the construct. The Mindfulness Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS) is a self-informed 15-item scale that measures the ability to be attentive and aware of the experience of the present moment. This study aimed to analyze the psychometric properties of MAAS in 299 adults, divided into a clinical and non-clinical sample, in the city of Lima, Peru. The results of the Confirmatory Factorial Analysis indicated an appropriate fit for the model (2 x 252.82, df x 90, p < .001, 2/df x 2.81, CFI - 0.93 and RMSEA - 0.08 [90% CI: 0.07, 0.09]) With respect to the items in the one-dimensional model, all show statistically significant standardized factorial loads (p <.01), in the expected direction, and with apromedium of 0.68. The reliability index was satisfactory (Cronbach's α .93) and the convergent validity of the MAAS scale with the FFMQ questionnaire was .76, as well as a McDonalds Omega coefficient of .93. The results show that MAAS has adequate psychometric properties to be used in the Peruvian adult population.

"Translation, cross-cultural adaptation and validation of the Work Role Functioning Questionnaire (WRFQ) to Spanish spoken in Spain =Traducción, adaptación cultural y validación del Work Role Functioning Questionnaire (WRFQ) al castellano hablado en España." Doctoral thesis, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, 2014. http://hdl.handle.net/10803/288047.
Full textBackground: Direct translation of questionnaires may lead to misinterpretation due to cultural and language differences. When using questionnaires developed in other languages in scientific studies, besides the translation, is necessary a cultural adaptation and validation. The Work Role Functioning Questionnaire (WRFQ) is an instrument to measure perceived difficulties to perform the job due to health problems. Objectives: 1) Review the literature on translation, cultural adaptation and validation (TCAV) of questionnaires, and synthesize and make recommendations to facilitate this process, 2) translate and adapt the WRFQ to Spanish and 3) examine the reliability, validity and responsiveness of the WRFQ in a Spanish working population so that it could be used in evaluative studies. Methods: A rigorous stepwise procedure was followed to achieve the TCAV. A cross-sectional study with 455 participants was designed to evaluate reliability and validity. A longitudinal prospective study with 102 participants was carried out to examine responsiveness. Internal consistency, test-retest reliability, face and content validity were assessed. Structural validity was examined by means of confirmatory factor analyses. Construct validity was evaluated by hypotheses testing. Responsiveness was examined with a combination of distribution and anchor-based approaches. Results: The TCAV of the WRFQ to Spanish was satisfactory. For the overall scale, Cronbach alpha was 0.98 and the intraclass correlation coefficient was 0.94. Face and content validity was considered adequate. The five factor structure reflected fair dimensionality of the construct. For construct validity, seven hypotheses were confirmed and for responsiveness four hypotheses were confirmed and one was rejected. Conclusions: The WRFQ-SpV is a reliable and valid instrument to measure health-related work functioning in Spanish-speaking populations. Evidence about the possible use of the WRFQ for evaluative purposes has been found

Full textThe objective of this study was to determine the psychometric properties of the Dating Violence Questionnaire (Rodríguez, López, Rodríguez, Bringas & Antuña, 2010) in university students in the province of Tacna, Peru. The sample consisted of 500 students from a private university, aged between 18 and 30 years. The Questionnaire of Violence between Boyfriends and the Scale of Violence against women in relationships were applied (Vara & López, 2016). To assess the evidence of validity of the internal structure of the instrument, a confirmatory factor analysis was performed, which resulted in adequate fit indices for the model of eight related factors (χ² / gl = 4.574, CFI = .961, TLI = .956, SRMR = .054, RMSEA = .085). The internal consistency was calculated and alpha and omega values ranging between .84 and .91 were obtained. Spearman's nonparametric test was used for convergent validity analysis. The analysis of correlations between factors of the proposed model and the VcM Scale showed that all of them are positive and statistically significant (p <.05), with a high magnitude (rs > .50) and moderate (rs > .30). It is concluded that CUVINO has adequate psychometric properties for its use in the study sample.

Full textThe main objective of the present study was to analyze the construct validity and reliability of the Resilience Scale (SV-RES) of Saavedra y Villalta (2008) in older adults due to the lack of research around the variable which works as a protective factor for healthy aging. It is a non-probabilistic sampling consisting of 300 older adults belonging to a center of the older adult of Metropolitan Lima of which 43% were male and 57% female, between 60 and 96 years. For the analysis, were applied the instruments of SV-RES by Saavedra y Villalta (2008) and the Mexican Resilience Scale (RESI-M) by Palomar y Gómez (2010). The correlations between the resilience scale SV-RES and RESI-M were positive and significant. Using the Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, values greater than 0.70. These results allow us to conclude that the SV-RES and its scores are a valid and reliable measure to measure resilience in older adults.

Full textThe objective of this study was to analyze psychometric properties of the ARC INICO Self-Determination Scale (Verdugo et al., 2014), which consists of four subscales (Autonomy, Self-regulation, Empowerment and Self-realization), in high school students from private schools in Lima, Perú. The participating institutions were selected with non-probabilistic accidental or consecutive sampling where 311 students participated (63% male and 63% female) from first to fourth grade of secondary. To verify validity evidence based on relations to other variables the Perceived Self Efficacy in Academic Situations Scale or EAPESA was used (Dominguez, 2016). The data of the ARC INICO Scale was analyzed with a homogeneity analysis and afterwards with a Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), finding the values of CFI = .89, RMSEA = .07 and Chi Square divided by degrees of freedom = 2.53, which confirm the original model. As well, evidence of reliability based on internal consistency was calculated using the coefficients Cronbach’s Alpha and McDonald’s Omega. Non-acceptable values (smaller than .70) were found for two subscales. The results from the EAPESA had low and moderate correlations (Spearman values between .29 and .49) with the subscales of the ARC INICO Scale, which was expected since both measure similar variables. In conclusion the ARC INICO Self-determination Scale is found partially valid and reliable, and it can be used only in the private schools that participated in this study in Lima, Perú.
