Subacromial impingement accounts for significant burdens on the economy and individual quality of life. The development and progression of this disorder is thought to be related to overuse; however, little is known regarding biomechanical factors such as scapular kinematics, shoulder muscle recruitment and joint proprioception with respect to this disorder. The high degree of variability between individuals on these biomechanical measures limits our ability to make inferences behind the development of shoulder impingement. Abstract:
M. Tech.<br>Purpose: To determine whether there was any improvement in proprioception by influencing the proprioceptive receptors through either manual manipulation of the Sacroiliac joint or subjecting the participants to whole body vibration by means of Powerplate training. A combination of the two was also used. Methods: This study included 45 participants divided into 3 groups of equal size. All participants were symptomatic with regard to Sacroiliac Joint pain and\or restriction and fell within the different activity categories according to the Internat ional Physical Activity Questionnai

Abstract:
This thesis is an investigation of the role of skin and muscle receptors in proprioception at the ankle joint in humans. Somatosensory afferents provide the central nervous system with cues that code for movement and position of the segments, senses collectively known as proprioception. Intramuscular receptors, in particular muscle spindles, code for length and movement velocity of muscles surrounding a joint and therefore play an integral role in proprioception. The role of cutaneous receptors is less clear. When activated via skin stretch they create illusory movements of the limbs, and they

M. Tech.<br>There is still much to be learnt about proprioception and it’s role in postural control mechanisms. Joint position sense accuracy has been developed as a means to evaluate proprioception and extensive studies have been performed on patients with chronic neck pain. To date, there has been limited research that has been conducted on the various therapeutic modalities, which may affect joint position sense accuracy and proprioception. However, no research has been performed on patients who are asymptomatic, to determine the true effects of Chiropractic cervical adjustive therapy on jo

Abstract:
Altered neuromuscular processing and motor output as both a risk and perpetuating factor for chronic neck pain is a relative new area of study. The cervical flexion relaxation response (FRR) is a reproducible and reliable marker of differences in neuromuscular function between neck pain patients and controls. Change in joint position sense (JPS) of upper limb joints has also been linked to chronic neck pain. Studies in this thesis sought to develop an experimental model in humans to investigate whether the FRR and JPS can be altered by fatigue and/or postural stress. Additionally a pilot study

The contribution of deficits in limb position sense to the motor impairments of children with cerebral palsy, as well as other neurodevelopmental disorders, is increasingly being recognized. Proprioception plays an important role in improving movement quality of the shoulder complex and some believe that scapular proprioception can be enhanced by kinesiology taping. But, evidence to support this hypothesis is limited. Therefore, the purposes of this study are to investigate the effect of kinesiology taping on proprioception of scapulothoracic and glenohumeral joint, scapular kinematic
