Sorbier-Rawls, Julie. "La musique dans la prose narrative moderniste espagnole." Thesis, Montpellier 3, 2010. http://www.theses.fr/2010MON30038/document.
Full textModernist literature is by essence musical. It is meant to arouse the reader’s senses: the use of music, a suggestive art by excellence, creates the allusion. How can one insert music in literature? Stéphane Mallarmé suggests to precede the effects of music by redefining it from its origin. If the art of music is naturally expressed through a poem, how about through prose? In Spain, Ramón María del Valle-Inclán offers a prime example of musical prose in his Sonatas. Is this all that can be expected? Has there been no other echo of Mallarmé’s project in Spanish prose? Certainly the intention to do so exists; histories of literature confirm this intention but nothing more. Our work is going to be twofold: first we need to find Spanish modernist prose works, and then analyze these works through the prism of music in order to understand how the fusion of these arts (music and prose) is realized. The analysis reveals that the music of the prose, sometimes imperceptible, sharpens the senses and makes the reader more sensitive to the elegance, to the rhythm and the phrasing of a syntagm. In other words, the inner music paves the way to the ineffable. The poet’s role in society is described within this project. He presents himself as a modern times priest. Yet the myth to which he tries to subscribe lacks substance: sensitive to the realities of his time, in search of an audience keen on naturalism, the Spanish writer is not fully implicated. His prose is hesitant, often corny: this explains why it has passed unnoticed in history
Thesis, Reims, 2018. http://www.theses.fr/2018REIML006.
Full textThe aim of this thesis is to study the interartistic dialogue between music and literature in contemporary Spanish prose fiction since the emergence of “X generation” at the beginning of the 1990s. In a context of mass culture, the rise of this group of writers, namely led by Ray Loriga or José Angel Manas, has revealed a constant and lasting permeability of novels to music. Thus, such an influence is visible in some of the works of Augustin Fernández Mallo, one of the main representatives of the “mutant” movement that appeared in 2007 and in that of writers who were not connected to any particular literary group, such as Aixa de la Cruz, Belén Gopegui, Guillermo Aguirre, Pablo Gutiérrez, ou Kiko Amat. The love of music in these writers is the basis of an interartistic project where literary invention is connected to an abundant musical imaginary world, and its textualisation brings us to consider the novel as a musical aesthetic form. Thus, the novels studied are filled with a poetics of dissemination, which expands musicality to different components of the story and increases the perceptive dispositions of the text, so that the auditory imagination of the reader is stimulated. So, the fascination for music gives birth to a constellation of works whose resonant, musical, generic, thematic diegetic and stylistic aspects will be analysed through the concept of amplification that we define as the paths used by fiction to increase the power of mimesis, create a story and signify something beyond the frontiers of the novel, thanks to music
Paris 4, 1990. http://www.theses.fr/1989PA040109.
Full textThis research deals with 5 series of Becquer's writings in prose, two of which had never been studied as such until now. The first part of this thesis is devoted to a thorough analysis of those series in prose, whereas the second part is focused on the representation of the author : the very fact of staging the author in anonymous texts indicates a true questioning of the part of Becquer on his own status. Throughout those texts, the creator appears like a re-creator, a compilator, would doesn't deprive the words of their own initiative, while he acknowledges the difficulty in creating an entity. The model for completeness remuans pictural art, which gradually earts up Becquer's writing, since those texts are provided with illustrations. In fact, the flow of writing can never be controlled, by what is called the author, the latter being but a mediator. The author withdraws to give place to the reader, who endeavors, confronted by those fragmentary writings to recompose an entity. In this context the identity of the author is of no great importance, Becquer delineates the premices of modern writings, which retain a fragmentary status, without belonging to a definite genre, and compose a virtual literature
Gullo, Anne Sophie. "L'oeuvre en prose (2001-2014) d'Alejandro Lopez Andrada : vers l'élégie." Thesis, Normandie, 2019. http://www.theses.fr/2019NORMC026.
Full textAlejandro Lopez Andrada, a poet, novelist and essayist from the "generation of sons" as Juan Vila calls it, traces the lost or disappearing past of his native Andalusia. His prose is notable for its elegiac character and despite the generic diversity that characterises his works, they all express a feeling of nostalgia. This study aims to present, in the first instance, the narrative voice that is expressed in the chosen corpus as well as the subjectivity that defines it, and, secondly, the expression of this nostalgia through the exaltation of childhood, in which the representation of the Andalusian homeland is enshrined. Finally, the last part of this work is devoted to the Christian humanism that emerges from the texts, which reflect the author's own personal faith. This particularly manifests itself in the expression of love of the Other, in the demand for the values and way of life which hark back to the author's childhood and by the weight given to the importance of religion in all his work
Yaouanq, Tamby Emilie. "L’indétermination générique dans la prose poétique du symbolisme et du modernisme (domaines francophone et hispanophone, 1885-1914)." Thesis, Paris 4, 2011. http://www.theses.fr/2011PA040001/document.
Full textThis thesis seeks to examine the mechanisms of generic indetermination in the poetic prose of francophone symbolists and hispanic modernists from 1885 to 1914. Generic indetermination and hybridity tend to appear at first in representations of forms and genres, and in the discourse of writers and critics. The new definition of the poetic category leads to the perception of a continuum between different forms and genres. The narrative poetic symbolist song and the heterogeneous collections mixing different types are an example of this tendency. In this case, the genre of prose poem tends to merge with contiguous genres such as the tale. The absence of generic definition may be observed in discontinuity, immobility and repetition which allow the exploration of other modes of time representation and the play on referential ambiguity
Raynié, Florence. "Lope de Vega prosateur." Toulouse 2, 2005. http://www.theses.fr/2005TOU20096.
Full textIn this thesis concerned with Lope de Vega's narrative prose fiction —or to be precise, a pastoral novel, La Arcadia (1598), a Byzantine novel, El peregrino en su patria (1604), a pastoral novel “a lo divino”, Pastores de Belén (1612) and a collection of short novels, Las Novelas a Marcia Leonarda (1621 and 1624)— we endeavour to bring to the fore the functionning of the author's prose writings beyond generic considerations. The first part of the thesis aims to show how Lopean narrative is constantly confronted with perturbations arising from two concerns: the modes of composition and the inclusion of types of discourse that we have described as “heterogeneous”. In the second part we study these heterogeneous discourses from the inside, highlighting their function in the works, before questioning, in the last chapter, the notion of “digression” that has been often used, and misused, by those critics that have studied Lope's works
Thesis, Paris 3, 2009. http://www.theses.fr/2009PA030054.
Full textThis dissertation aspires to renew the critical interpretation of Leopoldo Alas Clarín’s work through a stylistic analysis of all his prose writings, disregarding hierarchic matters. This new reading is based on the author’s cultural references and the internal echoes in his works in order to describe his intellectual vitality. Clarín’s style arises from the dynamic combination of aesthetics of irony and a creative work on intimacy, that materializes the contrast between connection and rupture, both key elements of his works. This study combines the fields of irony and artistic empathy, usually considered linked to two different positions –distance and proximity–, bringing them together in a single approach using the idea of textual intimacy. It aims at understanding the particularities of a complex realism that has the imprint of a strong creative subjectivity and is eager to express a contrasted human truth. The first part make! s a conceptual displacement in the figure of irony, from a rhetorical device subordinate to satire, to a mode of representation. Irony creates a system of voices and textual relations that integrates quotations, demonstrating the demiurgic power of the author who challenges the reader from within the language. The second part is focused on the way Clarín’s writing represents the inner self and his failures, as a broken being and a broken voice. The intimate secret, despite the limitations of language, reveals the existence of hope and discloses a view of the transcendence of the aesthetic, ethic and religious connection. The Clarín’s works are characterized by their ambiguity: the textual complexity arises from the contrast between power and helplessness, between the spectacular and the secret
Thesis, Toulouse 2, 2017. http://www.theses.fr/2017TOU20096.
Full textThis thesis present a critical edition of the non-well known novel written and published by the fencing master of Philip IV, Luis Pacheco de Narváez, whose title is Historia ejemplar de las dos constants mujeres españolas, printed for the first time in Madrid by the Imprenta del Reino the year 1635. The work is divided into five chapters. In addition to the section dedicated to the edition of the novel (ch. V), which establishes an annotated text based on the only two known editions (Madrid, 1635 and Seville, 1744) with her list of variants, another four serve as context to it. Thus, we present a biography of Pacheco de Narváez (Baeza, 1560-Madrid, 1640), drafted in accordance with the preserved documentation, which is complemented by a literary list of references of this period about the figure and the work of the author, and an epigraph that wants to be a scientific consideration on his relations with Francisco de Quevedo (ch. I); a history of the text that studies the date of composition, the first edition and the complicated situation to publish novels in these years due to censorship (1625-1635), an aborted publication project and the second edition, as well as the critical trajectory of the novel and the absence of later editions (ch. II); a taxonomic study (although emphasis is placed on the morality present in the story) that implies its attachment to the genre of the so-called “courtly novel” (ch. III); and finally a chapter dedicated to the literary context, divided in two large parts: one dedicated to the sources and materials that the author could use to form the novel, and another that studies, by way of example, one of the literary topics present in the text and in the literature of the time: the descriptio tempestatis. This last part complements, as addition, with a study of the subject of the storm in the Jerusalen conquistada (1609) by Lope de Vega (ch. IV)

Full textIragui, Sebastian. "Les adaptations ibériques du Tristan en prose." Paris 4, 1996. http://www.theses.fr/1995PA040242.
Full textMost Italian and Iberian adaptations of the Tristan en prose descend from an earlier, abridged and adapted version, the version meridional. We study the evolution of this version, from an initial group of French manuscripts copied in Italy, through successive translations into Italian, Catalan and finally Castilian. In a detailed concordance, the meridional texts are compared with the Tristan en prose and the compilation of Rusticien de Pise. The inspection of the Iberian tradition reveals a version pared down to concentrate on the hero and his story. In the Libro de Tristan de Leonis, printed in 1501, etc. , the story is modified so as to further glorify the hero and the chivalric ideal, whereas the Cuento of Tristan de Leonis, ms. Of the late 14th to early 15th cent. , tends rather to accentuate or add realistic, popular and comic details

Full textThe discursive union of prose and poetry within a same text is called prosimetrum. Lope de Vega continually resorts to this hybrid form in order to write his works of fiction, which consist of different genres: two pastoral novels, La Arcadia and Pastores de Belén, one adventure story, El Peregrino en su Patria, the Novelas a Marcia Leonarda, and the unclassifiable works Acción en Prosa La Dorotea (1632). In order to shed a new light on these works, the present study considers this combination while preserving the coherence and the integrity of the work as a whole. Although we classify and analyse the versified material both formally and thematically, we shall emphasise the prose-poetry-prose transitions in order to establish a typology of the ways the author inserts the verses. Despite the apparent hermetism which isolates the two genres as far as typography is concerned, the two discourses interact. They do so on two levels: on the one hand, at the level of the plot thanks to the effect of poetry on prose, and on the other hand at the level of the story. The debate about prose and poetry finds an answer in the exploitation of their oppositions and their similarities for narrative purposes. The mechanisms of discursive hybridisation thus revealed, their diverse implications and the recurrence of this esthetic choice by the author are then put into perspective. The balance between the form and his creative personality emphasises the way the Fénix uses the prosimetrum for personal reasons, either to serve the narcissism of his writing or to compose his literary legacy, around the promotion of the canto llano and the principle of the varietas

Full textWith the translations of Baudelaire’s Spleen de Paris (Petits poèmes en prose) in Spain from the 1880’s to the 1930’s as its main object, this thesis intends to examine their historical, literary and publishing context in order to determine how the book was received. The corpus includes Castilian and Catalan translations and considers their insertion into their target literary systems in Havana, Madrid and Barcelona as well as their main textual characteristics. A particular focus is placed on the translators as active recipients of the text since they are both its readers and its rewriters. Their portraits shed light on the translators’ condition, be they renowned or unknown, at a time when translation progressively acquires more dignity, at least in speeches, while translators are still largely scorned and underpaid. The translators themselves tend to waver between belittling this task, so rarely gratifying, and giving in to its temptation. These portraits also convey their conception of translation, France and Baudelaire to get a better understanding of what was at stake individually in the work they accomplished. The reception of the genre of the prose poem is addressed mainly through analysing the publishing choices and interpreting the prefaces of the studied versions

Full textThis dissertation examines the political reforms under the rule of Charles III and, especially, under José de Gálvez, first, as Visitador General of New Spain and, later, as Secretary of State of the Indies. Between 1765 and 1787, Gálvez undertook several profound changes in the Indies’ government, including the creation of new administrative territories: a viceroyalty, two capitanías generales, three audiencias, and numerous intendencias in almost all the Indies. This period was unique for the Spanish monarchy not only for the large-scale reforms, but also for the means to achieve them, which is the focus of our research. By studying the José de Gálvez’s network, we argued that it succeeded in taking control of the Indies’ government. In fact, the goal of the Secretary of State’s clientelism was to serve his political projects. Furthermore, Gálvez’s reforms caused the fragmentation of the Superior Gobierno and the weakness of viceroys’ authority, which resulted in a new government system in the Indies

Full textThe practice of Spanish in speech implies different possibilities of expression. It comes up against the normative rigidity of the temporal concordance of prescriptive grammars: tense of the principal / tense of the subordinate, sometimes including the anteriority and posteriority of the processes. Our objective attempts to determine this misunderstood mode that is the subjunctive. Our approach consisted in accounting for the different reasons for the temporal discordance in the contemporary peninsular press. Indeed, sometimes the journalist-reporter has the choice between two temporal possibilities of the subjunctive. Thus, we show that a single meaning includes all the meanings attributed to this mode whose parameters can be determined thanks to L. Gosselin’s computational theory of modalities. Our research highlights the multifactorial causes that are sometimes interacting (i.e. the double semantics of modal alternation introductory verbs, the type of discourse, the enunciative double positioning, the speaker’s point of view, the temporal dislocation, the adverbs of opposite time in the two propositions, the textual coherence, the inferences, etc.) which can lead, despite the non-concordance, to a better expressiveness thanks to the sense effects of the times of the subjective
