This thesis addresses the potential of private-public partnerships (PPPs) to involve private forest owners in formal forest protection. These partnerships have been widely advocated as means to engage actors from diverse sectors in collaborative new relationships, formed in a step-wise manner, to improve management of resources that combine public and private goods. 2008 metais Kauno miškų urėdijoje atkurta 236,8 ha miško želdinių ir žėlinių, o apsaugota repelentais 97,8 ha. Iš to galima spręsti, kad nevisi miško želdiniai ir žėliniai yra apsaugoti nuo neigiamo elninių žvėrių poveikio. Apdoroti repelentais miško želdiniai ir žėliniai sudaro 41 % nuo visų įveistų miško želdinių ir žėlinių. Dar 8,7% miško želdinių ir žėlinių buvo apsaugota panaudojant tvoras, taip pat apie 2% panaudojant individualias apsaugos priemones. Mark skyddad av biotopskyddsområde eller naturreservat går nu som ägoslaget produktiv skogsmark med avverkningsrestriktioner.
