The light driven enzyme Protochlorophyllide Oxidoreductase (POR) is responsible for catalysing the reduction of the Cl7 – C18 double bond of the D ring of protochlorophyllide (Pchlide), in the presence of NADPH, forming chlorophyllide (Chlide).
