Abstract“The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence/hill” is an old English proverb which shows that people tend to appreciate more what others have, just by crossing (with their eyes) the border represented by the fence/hill. Though the afore-mentioned proverb is a strong piece of advice against comparing what we possess with what others have, the aim of my paper is exactly that: to compare proverbs belonging to the Romanian culture to those of the Korean one, not for the sake of highlighting the wisdom or beauty of the Romanian over the Korean proverbs or vice versa but rathe

In this article, I focus on the difference between proverbs and idioms which derive from proverbs. Both proverbs and idioms are hard to defi ne, as it is also difficult to categorize a specific expression being either a proverb or an idiom. Fixed form is one feature of proverbs as well as that a proverb appears as a sentence, but today one can easily find variations and/or modifications of proverbs. To see how those idioms which derive from proverbs are used in actual speech, I have collected examples from a number of corpuses. Third, I will demonstrate how reading this way may influence our understanding of some key issues in Proverbs’ scholarship. Part 1 tackles the first and second aims. Proverbs can also appear in reduced form, and the part that is retained is capable of metonymically evoking the whole. Abstract:
To maintain measurement accuracy, stationary volume provers must be re-proved periodically. The most direct method of determining a provers volume is through a process known as water drawing where water is circulated through the prover and swept into certified measurement volumes. Since the can volumes can be directly calibrated by national metrology agencies, the traceability chain is short. However, proving with water requires that the prover be first cleaned of any hydrocarbon product that may alter the working volume of the prover and create waste products that must be handled properly.
