Abstract This chapter looks into Palauan, a primary branch of Malayo-Polynesian that is spoken on the Palau Islands in the Republic of Palau in Micronesia. However, Palauan does not belong to the Oceanic subgroup despite its location as it does not display the phonological and lexical innovations that characterize the subgroup.
