Control of lipid composition of membranes is crucial to ensure normal cellular functions. Saccharomyces cerevisiae has two different phosphatidylserine decarboxylase enzymes (Psd1 and Psd2) that catalyze formation of phosphatidylethanolamine. The mitochondrial Psd1 provides roughly 70% of the phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) biosynthesis in the cell with Psd2 carrying out the remainder. Here, we demonstrate that loss of Psd2 causes cells to acquire sensitivity to cadmium even though Psd1 remains intact. This cadmium sensitivity results from loss of normal activity of a vacuolar ATP-binding casset

Abstract. This study examines the influence of Problematic Social Media Use (PSMU) on cyberbullying among K-Pop fans in Indonesia, focusing on the high intensity of social media use within this community. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected via an online questionnaire based on the Cyberbullying Perpetration Scale (CBPS) and Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale (BSMAS), both adapted into Indonesian. The sample consisted of 459 respondents aged 15–22 years, selected through convenience sampling. Simple linear regression was used to analyze the relationship between PSMU and cyberbul

XRE-cupin family proteins containing an DNA-binding domain and a cupin signal-sensing domain are widely distributed in bacteria. In Pseudomonas aeruginosa, XRE-cupin transcription factors have long been recognized as regulators exclusively controlling cellular metabolism pathways. However, their potential functional roles beyond metabolism regulation remain unknown. PsdR, a typical XRE-cupin transcriptional regulator, was previously characterized as a local repressor involved solely in dipeptide metabolism. We found 40 survey-based studies, which utilized a hodgepodge of 36 operationalizations of ASMU and PSMU and which yielded 172 associations of ASMU and/or PSMU with well-/ill-

Cells that lose their organellar genome ([rho 0] cells) dramatically induce transcription of multiple or pleiotropic drug resistance genes via increased expression of a zinc cluster-containing transcription factor designated Pdr3. A major Pdr3 target gene is the ATP-binding cassette transporter-encoding gene PDR5.
