Abstract:
An indexed powder diffraction pattern and related crystallographic data are reported for secnidazole [C7H11N3O3, IUPAC name: 1-(2-hydroxypropyl)-2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole], which is not represented in the Powder Diffraction File. The unit cell dimensions were determined from diffractometer methods, using monochromatic CuKα1 radiation, and evaluated by indexing programs. The monoclinic cell found for 1-(2-hydroxypropyl)-2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole is: a=12.426(2) Å, b=12.173(2) Å, c=6.656(1) Å, β=100.19(1)°, Z=4, space group P21/c (No. 14), Dx=1.271 g/cm3. Abstract:
Clarithromycin is a 14-membered-ring , macrolide antibiotic, a derivative of erythromycin, that is commonly used for the treatment of chronic, obstructive upper - and lower respiratory -, skin - and soft tissue -, as well as for gastric (duodenal ulcers caused by H. pylon] infections. During this study, polymorphic and pseudopolymorphic forms were evaluated, identified and characterised, using normal spectral and thermal methods, such as x-ray powder diffractometry, infrared spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetrical analysis and thermal microscopy. Abstract:
Incorporation of water molecules in the crystal structure of an organic compound has strong effects on its physical and chemical properties. Therefore, the study on stability of water-incorporated pharmaceutical compounds and mechanisms of hydration and dehydration is very important for the pharmaceutical industries. The main goals of the present research project were quantitative description of the crystallization and solid-state transformations of pseudopolymorphs of sodium naproxen in order to provide fundamental information concerning stability of the pseudopolymorphic forms. Abstract:
The research addressed in this thesis is focused on the solubility and pseudo-polymorphic transition of L-serine in mixed water-methanol systems. Cooling re-crystallizations were carried out that varied both temperature and methanol concentration. Solubilities were measured with high-performance liquid chromatography. It is found that the solubility increased with increase in temperature and decreased drastically with methanol concentration. The effect of temperature at which there is a transition of L-serine crystals from the rod-shaped (anhydrous) form to hexagonal (monohydrate) form was

Abstract:
Pseudopolymorphs of two sulfonamide drugs, namely sulfathiazole and succinylsulfathiazole, have been prepared by recrystallization of the drugs from various organic solvents and their properties have been studied by several physicochemical methods. Thermal Analysis involving Thermal Gravimetry (TG) and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) were used to investigate such thermal properties of the crystals as stabilities, desolvation processes and their kinetics as well as the melting of pure polymorphic forms of the drugs resulting from desolvation. Roxithromycin is a relatively new, semisynthetic, macrolide antibiotic and an ether oxime derivative of erythromycin A, consisting of a 14-membered, macrocyclic, lactone ring. Roxithnrmycin has proven clinical efficacy in upper - and lower respiratory infections, ski - and soft tissue infections, urogenital - and orodental infections. Few literature was available on the physicochemical properties of roxithromycin during this study, whilst no documentation on polymorphism, pseudopolymorphism or amorphism of roxithromycin was found. Three polymorphs, ZIF-8, ZIF-L, and dia(Zn) are discussed in this work. It was found that the synthesis of dia(Zn) with a crystal morphology of hexagonal nanosheets requires a catalyst (NH4OH, CH3COOH, or HCOONa), and a synthesis temperature of 60 °C. In contrast, the synthesis of ZIF-8 and ZIF-L can be conducted in the absence of a catalyst and at
