Approaches used by psychiatrists (of all grades and in all subspecialities) to assess capacity to consent in a large west London psychiatric trust were surveyed with a questionnaire. A survey of psychiatrists and non-psychiatrists in a medical faculty examined questions bearing on two hypotheses, that psychiatrists choose their career either to heal themselves or to heal their families. The results provided some support for the psychiatrist as a “wounded healer”. The findings did not appear to be an artifact of more psychiatrists having been in therapy. The results were the same whether or not psychiatrists specialized in psychotherapy.

Abstract:
In the present study, 45 patients with schizophrenia syndromes and 39 healthy subjects are studied with electroencephalogram (EEG) signals. The study groups were of different genders. For each of the two groups, the signals were analyzed using 16 EEG channels. Multiscale entropy, Lempel-Ziv complexity and Lyapunov exponent were used to study the chaotic signals. The data were compared for two groups of subjects. Entropy was compared for each of the 16 channels for all subjects. As a result, topographic images of brain areas were obtained, illustrating the entropy and complexity of Lempel-Ziv.

This paper analyses the causal effects of exposure to high-speed internet on socioemotional wellbeing in adolescence and youth. We exploit the geographic and cross-cohort differences in fiber optic accessibility given by the fiber-optic-to-the-home (FTTH) project developed in Uruguay in the period 2011-2018. We identify intention-to-treat effects by combining administrative data on FTTH rollout with large survey data specially designed to collect outcomes in youth. Our results show that access to high-speed internet has mixed effects on mental health. Going from 0 to a 100% probability in FTTH
