This paper addresses the psychological consequences associated with experiencing traumatic events during warfare. The negative aspect of these experiences is discussed, which should be associated with post-traumatic stress syndrome, but also with the possibility of “moral injury” that may occur as a result of transgression of ethical and cultural norms. The positive aspect of traumatic events is also presented, which is connected with the possibility of increased psychological resilience, as well as experience of “post-traumatic growth” understood as experiencing positive psychological change

Abstract:
AbstractSince its burst in early 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic has deeply affected every aspect of daily life, from international trade and travelling to restrictions on an individual level, becoming a complex multi-level and highly multi-faceted problem. Due to its overarching influence and deep impact, it can be seen as one of the most disruptive Grand Challenges of our time. Different from most other lasting Grand Challenges, such as Climate Change, the pandemic exerted its influence with little ramp-up, rapidly transforming health and health systems, human lives, goods and economic flows, decision-making mechanisms, research and innovation, and many other aspects of life in a very short span of time.Grand Challenges require extraordinary efforts from society as a whole since they need holistic, effective, collaborative endeavours to solve them. One such unique orchestrated effort can be observed in the subsequent series of virtual massive EUvsVirus (https://www.euvsvirus.org/) events and committed collaborations (‘hackathon’, ‘matchathon’, ‘launchathon’, ‘community’, ‘EIC Covid platform’, and the unparalleled ‘Academia Diffusion Experiment’ [ADE], analysed in chapter “Academia Diffusion Experiment: Trailblazing the Emergence from Co-Creation” of this book). While this chapter explains ‘what’ has been produced with the ADE, inspired by the EUvsVirus phenomenon, the ADE chapter describes ‘how’ it has been done. Both are extremely unique in terms of content, procedure, motivation, collaboration, effects—and they attempt to trailblaze at highest level co-creation, co-evolution, and co-dreaming. Hence, situated as the last chapters of this book. This chapter will shed light on the EUvsVirus events, where over 30,000 individuals from 40 countries came together and addressed the complexity of this massive challenge in a pioneering and groundbreaking way. The chapter is focused on analysing the EUvsVirus hackathon (alongside its mentioned unique spillovers) as a tool, method, and process capable of channelling and activating individuals’ and institutions’ concerns, wills, and commitments into a unique orchestrated open, collaborative response to an urgent Grand Challenge, the pandemic. We are producing a multi-vortex tornado model, resembling the EUvsVirus phenomenon, its components, mechanisms, behaviour and how to replicate it to achieve such disruptive, global organisational effort of co-creation. Especially, the emergence of such collaboration in the face of such urgency leads to the assumption that there are crucial lessons to be learned from this endeavour, quite fittingly encapsulated by these words:‘We are learningThat though we weren't ready for this,We have been readied by it’.Amanda Gorman’s New Year poem (https://amandagormanbooks.com/#the-hill-we-climb-and-other-poems or https://edition.cnn.com/videos/tv/2022/01/06/exp-amanda-gorman-nye-poem.cnn)

Abstract:
Abstract Relationship maintenance processes refer to a wide range of cognitive and behavioral strategies that serve to protect and enhance the quality and stability of romantic relationships. As romantic partners share more aspects of their lives together, their goals become increasingly coordinated and they become especially motivated to care for each other’s welfare. However, even established romantic relationships face times of difficulty, including problems with action coordination. As interdependence between partners grows, partners face challenges distinct from those that surround relationships in which interdependence is low. In this chapter, we review the current social psychological literature on relationship maintenance processes and discuss how these strategies may change as evolutionary priorities (e.g., striving for success in the workplace or caring for children and parents) become more prominent over the course of long-term involvements. In this regard, we focus on strategies that are more prevalent among older adults and discuss how these strategies may reflect adaptations to the constraints that romantic partners face at later stages in life. We conclude our discussion with recommendations for future research and a call for integrative work that combines evolutionary and social psychological perspectives to refine our understanding of maintenance processes among older adults.

Abstract:
Emotional events are better remembered with more vividness and confidence than everyday occurrences. This prioritization of emotional events in memory can be helpful by ensuring that we remember important information associated with meaningful events. But persistent and intrusive memories of negative experiences presents a burden to daily life, exemplified in anxiety and stress disorders, such as posttraumatic stress disorder. Here, we describe emerging cognitive neuroscience research detailing how emotion shapes learning and memory. This research is framed in a historical context of pioneering studies in laboratory animals on Pavlovian fear conditioning and the role of stress and arousal on memory formation. Translating advances in the neuroscience of learning and memory from rodents to humans has opened the way for several lines of research that may ultimately lead to a better understanding and innovative treatments for mental health disorders. This includes new insights on how memory might be persistently attenuated so as to diminish the psychological and physiological effects of unwanted emotional memories.

Conferring to the Global Risk Index, Pakistan is ranked as the 7th most susceptible country to the inexorable influence of climate change. Before this century ends, the annual mean temperature in Pakistan is expected to rise from 3°C to 5°C for a focal worldwide discharge situation. Usually, annual precipitation is not relied upon to have a critical long haul pattern. Ocean level is relied upon to ascend further by 60 centimeters. All these climatic events are likely to disrupt the economy, lives, and the socio-political aspects of human life. Pakistan has already witnessed massive loss in terms of human, infrastructural, and economic aspects. The chapter is designed to understand both the direct and indirect health risks associated with frequent climatic events like floods, drought, and heat waves in Pakistan. After analyzing the available literature, it was observed that floods and drought have direct and indirect health risks associated with them while in case of heat waves, health risks cannot be established precisely as multiple variables are involved, playing a significant role.

Abstract:
This chapter discusses the promise of new longitudinal methods for collecting psychological and behavioral data to examine the extent to which post-traumatic growth is possible. These methods include weekly in-the-moment self-reports of functioning as individuals go about their everyday lives via mobile health methods, in addition to retrospective self-reports of character. To examine the potential of such methodologies, the chapter uses the example case of whether and to what extent post-traumatic growth should be expected in women who experience breast cancer diagnosis. This research represents a promising way to move in a direction for uncovering post-traumatic growth. Breast cancer diagnosis and treatment are potent stressors for the individual. This may be particularly so for younger patients (<40 years) where the disease can be more aggressive, with a higher potential for lost years of life. Yet women differ greatly in their responses to diagnosis and treatment. Some cultivate new relationships, experience psychological growth, and act more prosocially and altruistically. Some evidence suggests that certain types of character growth in response to stressful life events may be associated with better psychological and physiological outcomes after the event is over. However, there are limited prospective longitudinal data to indicate which specific character traits primarily change in response to life challenges and which are most associated with changes in actual behavior. This chapter discusses how the implementation of multiple methods will better allow researchers to characterize the trajectories of character traits and actions following adversity.

Various biological and psychological changes occur in the body that are connected to the reproductive system. Many researches have been carried out about how specific medical conditions, genetic factors, hormonal fluctuations, stressful life events, psychological factors, socioeconomic & cultural factors, changes in lifestyle, etc. act as contributors to women’s reproductive health. This research focuses on how one’s belief system, thought process and mind patterns induces complications or pathological conditions within the reproductive system as well as overall well-being of women. Suggestions are given on how women can change their limiting beliefs, thereby embracing womanhood to lead a healthy life.

Children with separation anxiety disorder (SAD) experience unrealistic fear of being separated from their significant caregivers (mostly parents). The occurrence of pathological separation anxiety is determined by many factors: parental attitudes, their mental and physical health, but also the way of perceiving the environment, traumatic events in the child’s family and life, as well as genetic and individual effects. Pandemic situation and related isolation caused change in the current lifestyle. Both psychological (i.e. the novelty of the social situation, negative information in the mass media, fear of their own live and their loved ones) and daily-life routine disturbances (i.e. the closure of schools and restrictions of contacts with peers, limited contacts with distant family members, remote work of parents) generate difficulties for children and can contribute anxiety among children with SAD. Paradoxically, despite the fact that children and adolescents are at home, the COVID-19 pandemic may intensify SAD, exacerbating factors underlying separation anxiety. It turns out that family social isolation can escalate conflicts. This, in turn, adversely affects relationships between family members and can reduce children’s sense of security. Due to pandemic problematic access to specialized health care, especially personal contact with a psychotherapist, children with SAD suffer from insufficient professional help.

Ontological well-being adopts a holistic perspective on well-being similar to the narrative psychology when analyzing life histories by referring to past, present, and future aspects of one's life. Relatedly, the self-memory view proposes that life events are self-evaluated. Based on the narrative psychology and self-memory approach, affective life events and emotions are processed in the memory and play a role in structuring self-perceptions and psychological well-being. Nowadays there is a great inclination to modify well-being concept and health care by changing the technology in “wearable”. For this reason the relation between human body and new technologies are changing deeply and continually. The design necessarily should drive these changes. It is fundamental to understand if design is able to filling the gap in wearables project, caused by the absence of a user-oriented approach. The design development of the wearable device needs to accomplish the requirements of comfort and adaptableness connected to the anatomy of human body. From this point of view,

Highly imperiled Oregon white oak ecosystems are a regional conservation priority of numerous organizations, including Oregon Metro, a regional government serving over one million people in the Portland area. Previously dominant systems in the Pacific Northwest, upland prairie and oak woodlands are now experiencing significant threat, with only 2% remaining in the Willamette Valley in small fragments (Hulse et al. 2002). These fragments are of high conservation value because of the rich biodiversity they support, including rare and endemic species, such as Delphinium leucophaeum (Oregon Depart
