Abstract:
The paper is aimed at theoretical insight into phenomenology of psychological manifestations of love styles, identified by J. A. Lee, the Canadian sociologist, who used types of love described by ancient Greek philosophers as a basis for his classification. The author employs a number of aspects as the criteria for the analysis of essential characteristics of love styles: differentially expressed features of feelings, self-awareness, social perception, types of human relationships (suggested by J. L. Moreno and M. Buber), ways of realization of inward human nature (described by E. S. Fromm), level of sense of community and compensation mechanism for inferiority feeling (conceptualized by A. Adler). As a result of the theoretical study, the author outlined six psychological types of love: passionate love-admiration (eros), hedonistic love (ludus), love-friendship (storge), practical love (pragma), obsessive love (mania), altruistic love (agape). Theoretical representations of psychological types of love, formulated upon carrying out the phenomenological analysis, and application of substantive deductive construction strategy for psychological inventories enabled the author to design a diagnostic technique for psychological types of love. To test the technique, the author conducted the empirical study that involved 143 participants (89 women and 54 men) aged 18–32 (mean age = 22). The paper gives the reliability indicators for six scales of the diagnostic technique for the psychological types of love and the results of its convergent validation that prove good psychometric applicability of the designed psychodiagnostic tools and their differential diagnostic potential. The study revealed correlations of degree of psychological types of love with some sustainable personality traits (R. B. Cattell’s technique) and indicators of social and psychological adaptability.

Abstract:
The Marriage Law in Indonesia (UUP) is a positive legal rule in building a family. The UUP for example states that the purpose of marriage is to form a happy family, while the obligations of a husband and wife are to love, respect, respect and be loyal. Happiness, love, respect and loyalty are part of the psychological domain that cannot be achieved by merely reading normative juridical rules. Therefore a psychology study is needed to study the UUP. In addition to the psychological aspects, it is also important to study the UUP with a normative approach to see whether the UUP elaborates the normative values of the Qur'an as a source of Islamic teachings. The background of this paper is compiled with the aim of explaining the manifestations of psychological aspects formulated in the UUP so that it can be a reference for implementation in building families and analyzing the normative values of the Qur'an absorbed by the UUP. Therefore this UUP study was conducted with an integrated approach to normative and psychological juridical. This study also aims to develop family law with an integrative juridical psychological approach. The primary data sources used are the book of the Qur'aan by Quraysh Shihab, UUP and the book Motivation and Personality which examines happy psychology by Abraham H. Maslow and Triagular Theori of Love which discusses the theory of love in psychological perspective by Robert. J Steinberg as well as secondary sources related to research. The results of this study indicate that forming a happy family as a marriage goal is in harmony with Q.S. ar-Rum (30): 21. While in a psychological perspective marital happiness can be achieved by a husband and wife can achieve if fulfilled the five basic human needs (hierarchy of needs) in humanistic psychology namely: physiological, security, social, appreciation and self-actualization needs. While husband and wife love is manifested in three aspects, namely attachment, caring and intimacy.

Abstract:
In this era, psychoanalysis is widely used as a research method because it examines aspects of psychological principles that exist in literary works, especially the characters of the main characters. Uhibbuki Jiddan poetry seeks to express a deep sincerity of love to the lover. The purpose of this study is to describe the id, ego, and superego of the character Ana in the poem Uhibbuki Jiddan by Nizar Qobbani with a literary psychology approach. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The data obtained from this study lead to a psychological analysis of the literature contained in the poem Uhibbuki Jiddan. There are three psychological structures of a person contained in the psychology of literature proposed by Sigmund Freud, namely the id, ego, and superego. In the Uhibbuki Jiddan poem, the id attached to the character ‘ana’ appears naturally, the ego exists only to obtain pleasure, satisfaction, or momentary pleasure by prioritizing needs and the superego is shown with the sincerity of love.

Abstract:
This article carries out comparative literary research of the short story "The Lady with the Dog" by the Russian writer Anton Chekhov and the novel “The Great Gatsby” by the American writer F. Scott Fitzgerald for determining the possible mutual influence between these two authors and their works. For achieving the set goal, the article reveals the most significant similar incidents and differences in relation to the aspects of love, ego, and trauma that were selected for the analysis. The comparison relies on the Freudian view of love and trauma in order to analyze the psychological struggle after the loss of love experienced by the protagonists of the aforementioned literary works – Gurov and Gatsby. The scientific novelty consists in comprehensive comparison of the theme of love between the authors and their protagonists, as well as with the protagonists themselves. Unlike other existing scientific works, this publication compares the psychological aspects of not only love, but the trauma and ego of Gurov and Gatsby as well, revealing the similarities and differences between the aspects of love, ego and trauma alongside their perception by the protagonists. Both main characters fall in love with the women who are married to other men. Thus, they both have experienced a traumatic situation they could not cope with. The research sheds light on the similarities between Chekhov and Gatsby and their narrators in both case studies. The acquired results can be applied in practice of literary psychoanalytic criticism, as well as in practice of comparative research.

Abstract:
The notion of stress has becae as the same time very popular but is sometimes used improperly or with many exaggerations especially concerning the recommendations of practical solutions suggested for stress management. The stress producing stimuli, many physiological processes go into action, probably through different paths in close connection; the response is, therefore, an interaction between the organism and his environment. The emotional component takes part in the response reactions through the somatic effect of which it influences the behaviour. The man having lost his last connection with the world grieves duple and his environment must pay great attention not to lose also him. Every medico-surgical intervention belongs to the stress factors. Both contain psychopathological elements and a long psychotherapy accomplished by a specialist is needed, considerate-protective environment for the accommodation in the normal life, for the resocialization. The biological stress is a long succession of active, interactive mutual effect. This relation which always consists of the difference of value-power-intensity is, like an example of today, a chain of action of two fighter during which they get the offensive and defensive conduct in exchanged role. From the point of view of the human individual life the psyche (psychism) is a subsystem. If still we take it out of this relationship with investigational aim then we have to consider it a system.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to apply self-love to help maintain mental health and reduce the risk of disorders in one's psychological condition in Ghea Indrawati's "Sad Soul" video clip. This analysis focuses on how the depiction of self-love is contained in each scene, then continues on Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic model (triangle meaning). This research is qualitative research and uses semiotic analysis owned by Charles Sanders Peirce. For Charles Sanders Peirce, the fundamental principle of the nature of signs is representative and interpretive nature. The music video of the song "Sad Soul" was chosen because the music video has many moral messages aimed at loving yourself, this concept encourages someone to be able to recognize and accept themselves then be able to treat themselves well and as they are. The results of this study have 3 aspects, namely self-love as soft love for oneself that focuses on planting, nurturing, and developing oneself. Self-love as a dynamic state of self-appreciation, which grows from actions that support physical, psychological, and spiritual growth. Self-love as a feeling of comfort and the ability to set aside time for self-care.

Lecovin, Karen Eve. "An existential-phenomenological approach to understanding the experience of romantic love." Thesis, University of British Columbia, 1990. http://hdl.handle.net/2429/30139.

Full text
Abstract:
The purpose of this existential-phenomenological study was to investigate the meaning of a romantic love experience. Six adult co-researchers discussed their romantic love experience with the researcher. The co-researchers were asked to recall the time before, during, and after the love experience. Two interviews were conducted. The initial in-depth interviews were tape-recorded and transcribed. The transcripts were analyzed according to the method outlined by Colaizzi (1978). Twenty-two themes were explicated from the transcripts. These were written into an exhaustive description of a romantic love experience. The essential structure of the experience was culled from the exhaustive description. The transcripts, the themes, the exhaustive description and the essential structure were validated by the co-researchers. The description of a romantic love experience is a starting point both for future research and for the development of appropriate counselling techniques to be used with clients who are romantic by disposition or by situation.

Abstract:
This thesis examines a group of Japanese words which express emotion, at the heart of which is the concept of amae , the desire for love and attention from another person. The emotions expressed by the words discussed herein are common to all human beings and form the core of all cultures. It seems that human feelings of fondness vary, depending on the depth of the relationship existing between the people concerned. It is in the expression of these emotions that peoples differ. It is suggested that the differences are not in the way people feel, but in the way their culture conditions them to behave in communicating their feelings.

Full text
Abstract:
This study examined the relationship between love attitude and marital adjustment across five stages of the marital life-cycle in Nigerian society. The subjects for this study were 202 volunteers from six protestant churches representing six cities in the southern part of Nigeria. An average of 20 couples were representatives of each of the five marital life-cycles. Each of the subjects completed the Love Attitude Inventory (LAI), and the Marital Adjustment Test (short form) (MAT). Wilk's multivariate analysis revealed no significant differences between husbands' and wives' love attitude and marital adjustment across the five stages of the marital life cycle. Multivariate analysis split-plot 5.2 with repeated measures revealed no significant difference for the total sample among the groups, but indicated a significant difference between love attitude and marital adjustment for the total sample using sex as a factor. A univariate test of the MAT and LAI indicated that the MAT accounted for the difference. A canonical correlation indicated a significant positive relationship between husbands1 and wives' marital adjustment and love attitude within each of the five groups. The findings suggest that husbands and wives included in this study have a good understanding of their roles in the marriage relationship and that the partners have general agreement regarding those roles. The marriage partners apparently have strong influences on each other's perceptions of love attitude and marital adjustment.

Mavumengwana, Ziyanda. "A rural xhosa woman's experience of marital satisfaction." Thesis, Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, 2016. http://hdl.handle.net/10948/11509.

Abstract:
Satisfaction (fulfillment of one’s wishes, expectations and needs or the pleasure derived from this) has been shown by studies to be manifested through various things, including marriage. It has been found that marriage and the satisfaction experienced are positively correlated to higher levels of happiness. Marital satisfaction (also referred to as marital quality and marital happiness) is defined as one's subjective evaluation of favourability towards one’s spouse and the marital relationship and the mental state of perceived gains and losses of the marriage. Research shows that the factors that affect marital satisfaction vary across cultures as well as geographic space within cultures, as well as gender. The present case study explored marital satisfaction as experienced by a Xhosa woman who resides in a rural setting in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. This qualitative exploratory-descriptive study utilised an in-depth case study method and the subject was selected by purposive sampling. Thibaut and Kelley’s (1959) Interdependence Theory, in conjunction the life-cycle stages of marriage as proposed by Markey (2005), were used as a framework to understand dynamics that occur in the course of a marital relationship as well as the variations in satisfaction in the different stages of marriage. Data was obtained through semi-structured interviews and a content analysis approach proposed by Miles and Huberman (1994) was followed as a framework for data analysis. The findings of the present study are presented according to two broad groupings: 1) marital satisfaction arises from one’s state of mind, and 2) the participant provided lessons on dealing with issues that arise in marriage. These in turn permitted the identification of sub-themes connected to each main theme allowing recommendations for future research to be deduced.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of tenderness on problem solving. Thirty-four female undergraduates participated. In the experimental condition, participants received instructions to reproduce a specific respiratory-posturo-facial pattern that had induced tenderness in previous studies. Participants in the control condition performed a non-emotional exercise. After either the pattern or the control exercise, participants completed one of two jigsaw puzzles. One puzzle had only an empty room while the other had a family scene. For participants who worked on the room puzzle, the tenderness pattern led to longer completion times. In contrast, for participants who worked on the family puzzle, the tenderness pattern led to shorter completion times.

Abstract:
AbstractThis chapter argues that ‘romance’ as a film genre is best conceived of as an affective experience provided not only by narrative but also by stylistic means. Against this background, it explores a particular type of musical moment in non-musical films: scenes that portray, reflect and shape conceptions of romantic love and create various forms of cinematic romance through the diegetic use of popular songs. Drawing from research on the physical and psychological effects of listening to music, the chapter points out in which aspects songs are placed in a special relationship with romance. Based on the assumption that diegetic song moments can be considered as communicative acts, it proposes starting points for analysing different forms of diegetic song moments. Using examples from films of the last decades, it shows how different narrative set-ups, ways of integrating diegetic songs, performance styles and diegetic audiences influence the shape of cinematic romance.

Abstract:
AbstractHumility is often defined by what it is not; as the antithesis to various vices such as pride, arrogance, conceit, or vanity. This negative definition leaves open the possibility of some underlying characteristic or trait that influences the formation of this virtue. Homo amans lays out the classic theological triad of faith, hope, and love as a natural inclination in humanity. This chapter explores one aspect of this triad, love, as a possible underlying characteristic or trait that uniquely informs the formation of the virtue of humility: specifically, love as altruistic concern for the other that puts them ahead or before the self. Contemporary psychological studies of humility demonstrate a connection between this virtue and altruistic concern for the other. Altruistic concern becomes a part of moral schemas that greatly influence moral behavior and are the basis for the development of moral identity. Holocaust rescuers demonstrate that moral schemas, which contain altruistic concern as a primary component of their view of the world, cultivate a moral identity that makes rescuing a consequence of their self-identity and naturally leads to humility about their actions.

Abstract:
Stress and stressful events are part of our life. Until recently, it was considered that stress is not characteristic for young people, they have a normal life without special pressures. Nowadays, the conditions of modern life, the speed with which events are happening, consumer society, problems at work, in love relationship, failures and unsuccess determine the manifestation of stress among young people. We are witnessing an increase number of young people experiencing an intense level of stress. Stress is the response to certain external and / or internal factors that may have a physical, biological or psychological nature. Stress can have negative consequences on physical and mental health. A high level of stress changes the body’s function and influence on immune system, nervous system, cardiac system and endocrine system, etc. On psychological level stress causes changes in thinking, emotions and behaviour and can produce psychological discomfort, emotional instability, neuroticism. When stress becomes chronic it affects important aspects of young people life: work, rest time and social relationships.

Abstract:
We propose a system that helps patients of the Duchenne muscular dystrophy to take photos as a part of rehabilitations. Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a progressive disease. The disease makes it difficult for patients to walk as their muscles contract and their muscles progressively lose strength.Since the condition of the progresses of the disease and the experience of daily life is different from each other for variety of patients, it is important for caregiver to pay attention not only to physical functions but also to psychological aspects of the patients. Rehabilitation should be based on a holistic perspective. However, functional training tends to focus too much on physical function recovery. Thus, rehabilitation has paid little consideration to the psychological aspect. To alleviate this problem and foster a sense of self-affirmation, we designed and implemented a rehabilitation system that addresses the psychological aspects of Duchenne muscular dystrophy patients by having them act autonomic in rehabilitation. Research scientists of nursing have found that the two factors of "self-initiated subject search" and "photography based on internal evaluation criteria" are important for the quality of life of patients as well as their rehabilitations. The two factors, "subject search" and "acting based on internal evaluation criteria" bring positive psychological effects to the patients through the autonomy of the photographing. In order to elucidate the neural basis of the positive psychological effects mediated by autonomy, we used functional magnetic resonance imaging to investigate the effects of photography on the psychological mal-adjustment patients brought about by the autonomic actions. In other words, the neural basis behind the positive psychological effect of the act of photography was demonstrated. It is conceivable that the process of taking photographs, i.e., the actions of searching for a subject and pressing the shutter, can improve the psychological stability of patients with muscular dystrophy. The two actions have a combined psychological effect due to the autonomy of the action-takers. On the psychological side, patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy can expand their range of activities for photography and develop curiosity and ambition by taking photos by his own will and force, in contrast to doing monotonic functional training. Taking photos by their own muscle help their psychological well-being as well as rehabilitate their arm and hand muscles. In addition, our system provides semi-automatic management of photos to reduce the burden on caregivers. The system consists of a device that is attached on the user’s wheelchairs to assist taking photos and an application software to send the photos to caregivers. In order to adapt to the muscular dystrophy patients that have weak muscle, we employed a home video game console controller to manipulate the camera in order to press the shutter button. We designed this device easy to use for muscular dystrophy patients to change the directions and angles of the camera and to capture the subject with their weak muscle forces. In order to demonstrate the effectiveness of our system, we have conduct experiences of the system and succeeded to obtain favorable outcome.

Abstract:
Contemporary situational circumstances, with the global Covid-19 pandemic crisis and the ongoing war that has resulted from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, have brought about social, cultural, and psychological transformations that are, as of yet, little understood but already affecting different aspects of the contemporary school learning processes. Rational, analytical, cognitive, reflexive, and emotional experience are needed to ensure that difficulties within the crisis ecosystem do not cause a lessening of the human emotional experience in difficult times. Diverse emotional experiences are especially needed, the supply of which is reduced by both the limitations of interactivity imposed by the specifics of the media information space, which mostly reflects the realities of the crisis and are predominantly negative. In the face of this protracted crisis and the implications of new communication technologies, the article explores some ways to manage emotional experiences, so as not to lose sight of the diversity of human relations. It looks to address how we can compensate for the minimization of diverse emotional experience in teaching and learning in situations of social crises. The article pays attention to the potential role of literature as a way to build sustainable post-crisis social relationships. It proposes to reevaluate the role of literature in education and explore its use not only as a cognitive source for rational and critical thinking but its potential for cultivating moral emotions that enhance social solidarity and civility. The case studies it presents evaluate the interpretation and misinterpretation of some classical works of Latvian literature in schools and beyond, in the media and society.

Abstract:
Review question / Objective: This scoping review study aims to identify, summarize, and appraise available literature regarding the role of (BPSD)/neuropsychiatric symptoms in patients’ autonomy with all types of dementia diagnoses. To accomplish this objective, this scoping review will address the following question: What is the role of behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia in the patient’s autonomy? This review will comprise the terms capacity, functional abilities, and competence in the autonomy concept. Background: Dementia is a neurodegenerative syndrome characterized by the development of multiple cognitive deficits and behavioral changes that interferes with multiple aspects of life, including cognition, daily functioning, and behavioral. With the progress of the disease, the patients lose their capacity, functional abilities, competence, and autonomy (Barbas & Wilde, 2001; Darby & Dickerson, 2017; Irastorza, Corujo, & Bañuelos, 2011; Lee, Jang, & Chang, 2019; Marson, 2013).

P., BASTIAENSEN. Triage in the trenches, for the love of animals : a tribute to veterinarians in the First World War. O.I.E (World Organisation for Animal Health), October 2018. http://dx.doi.org/10.20506/bull.2018.nf.2883.

Full text
Abstract:
On the occasion of the centenary of the First World War, remembered across the world from 2014 until the end of 2018, many aspects and experiences of this global conflict have been re-examined or brought to light for the first time, as we honour the memory of those estimated 16 million soldiers and civilians who perished in what was then known as the ‘Great War’, or the ‘War to End All Wars’. So many of these died on the infamous fields of Flanders, where Allied and Central Forces dug themselves into trenches for the better part of four years. Over the past few years, new research has brought to light many insights into the plight of animals in this War, which – for the younger readers amongst you – was fought at the dawn of motorised warfare, using anything powered by two or four feet or paws, from the homing pigeons delivering secret messages across enemy lines, to the traction provided by oxen and mules to pull cannons and other heavy artillery, to the horses of the cavalry. Not least among these roles was the supply of animal protein to the troops, whether this came through the specific designation of animals for this purpose or as the result of a failed attempt at delivering any of the above services. Several leading publications today have documented the role (and suffering) of animals in ‘La Grande Guerre’. Less so the role of veterinarians in the ‘War to End All Wars’. Who were they? How many? How were they organised? What did they do, on either side of the enemy lines? The present article is a humble attempt to shed some light on these veterinary colleagues, based on available, mostly grey, literature…

Status Quo of Stigma and Correlated Psychological Factors Among Breast Cancer Patients in China: A Meta-analysis. INPLASY - International Platform of Registered Systematic Review and Meta-analysis Protocols, April 2023. http://dx.doi.org/10.37766/inplasy2023.4.0012.

Abstract:
Review question / Objective: This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the level of stigma and the associated psychological factors among Chinese breast cancer patients. Condition being studied: According to the latest global cancer burden statistics provided by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) of the World Health Organization in 2020, breast cancer accounts for approximately 30% of the most common malignancies diagnosed in women worldwide.Breast cancer is a significant health concern for women in China. The estimated population diagnosed with breast cancer has been rising, with the estimated 2.5 million cases over the next decade. Despite the positive impact of advanced surgical treatment options, breast cancer patients often face additional challenges, such as breast deficiency, scarring, limb dysfunction, and altered body image. These physical changes can lead to psychological issues, such as a strong sense of shame and avoidance of reality, among breast cancer survivors. Therefore, it is important for medical professionals to consider not only the physical aspects of breast cancer treatment but also the psychological well-being of patients.
