Abstract:
AbstractYoung people living in social institutions are more vulnerable to have mental health problems. Thus, they need to have psychological resilience, which is the ability to thrive in the face of adversity. The aim of the study is to investigate how much emotional intelligence can predict the psychological resilience of adolescents living at social institutions (orphanage). Research used quantitative approach and correlational design. In this study, by using purposive sampling technique, 145 adolescents aged 11 - 18 years living at orphanage around Jakarta were participated. Adaptation of resilience scale from Connor & Davidson was used to measure the psychological resilience and the scale of emotional intelligence was an adapted scale from theory of Salovey and Mayer. Both adapted scale shown good reliability index indicated that they can use to measure the variables consistently. The statistical analysis using linear regression test indicate that emotional intelligence can predict psychological resilience significantly and positively. It is implied that emotional intelligence is being an important factor for resilience development among orphanage youth. Thus, it is imperative to cultivate emotional intelligence aspects in resilience building program for young people living in social shelters. Abstract:
The authors of the article carry out the normative and doctrinal analysis of the terms “homelessness” and “neglect”, and identify the reasons and conditions of these antisocial phenomena in Russian society.  The research object is the legal and pedagogical aspects of the process of prevention of neglect and homelessness of minors and the activities of public authorities both in Russia and abroad. The research subject is the terms “homelessness” and “neglect” as legal terms. Special attention is given to the reasons of homelessness and neglect of juveniles, in the first place, biological and social orphanage. The research is based on the dialectical, formal-logical (dogmatical), historical-legal, systems, linguistic and some other methods of scientific cognition. The priority methods were the sociological and formal-legal methods and the method of comparative jurisprudence. The scientific novelty of the research consists in the fact that based on the analysis of legal and essential roots of the two phenomena, the authors conclude that despite being formalized, they require fundamental review of the approaches to study and identification. It is necessary to transform the understanding of the model of juvenile behaviour which is connected with the recently changed basic scientific approaches in pedagogical psychology and social pedagogics. Taking into account the size of the problem of orphanage, the authors suggest aiming public social politics not only at the protection of rights of orphans and their adoption, but also at avoiding the cases of deprivation of parental care. The most active instrument in this context is the prevention of social orphanage by the child protection services which includes pedagogical, psychological, legal, social, educational and medical assistance to families with and without family disadvantages risk factors.

Abstract:
BACKGROUND Self-concept is a fundamental domain of a person’s psychological function. Relation with family members and peers may influence self-concept which poses children in orphanages at risk. In order to implement and evaluate oral health interventions, we need to consider the functional and psychosocial dimensions of oral health. The purpose of this study was to assess the association between self-concept and oral health status among 12 - 17 year olds residing in orphanages in Bengaluru. METHODS The study was carried out among children living in orphanages. A cluster sampling method was used to select 269 participants from 9 orphanages in Bengaluru. The self-concept of the study participants was assessed using R. K. Saraswat’s selfconcept questionnaire. Oral health status was recorded using world health organization (WHO) oral health assessment form 2013. RESULTS Majority of the children in orphanages had an above average (45 %) and average selfconcept (39 %). Dental caries was present in 91.1 %, missing teeth in 19.7 %, filled teeth in 20.4 %, dental trauma in 17.9, gingival bleeding in 14.5 %, erosion in 5.9 % and oral mucosal lesions in 10.03 % of study participants. CONCLUSIONS Orphan children have an above average self-concept but are at an increased risk for oral diseases. KEY WORDS Self-Concept, Dental Caries, Gingivitis, Trauma, Orphanage

Abstract:
The article presents the results of a study aimed at analyzing and comparing the psychological causes of cyber-aggression in adolescents living in a parent family and an orphanage. The empirical research is based K.S. Runions’s theory cyber-aggression [1]. K.S. Runions describes cyber-aggression of adolescents through their motivational goals and ability to behavioral self-control. Data collection was carried out using a Typological Questionnaire of cyber-aggression, a projective drawing "Man in the rain", and a Questionnaire for assessing the involvement of adolescents in Internet communication. The study involved 223 adolescents aged 10-17 (22% from orphanages. Participation in the study was voluntary, and everyone had the informed consent. The results show that adolescents raised in orphanages are more clearly prone to cyber-aggression, especially in the case of impulsive-aversive and controlled-appetitive forms. Adolescents, generally, are more willing to display appetitive forms of cyber-aggression; they are able to show aggression against other users for the sake of reward and entertainment. The results of the study showed that the tendency to cyber-aggression correlates with sociability and hostility of the world, and in adolescents from parental families with the need for communication, demonstrativeness and aggression in adolescents left without parental care.

Abstract:
The present study explored the relationship among self-esteem, aggression, and psychological adjustment between orphan children and family-reared children. The sample comprised of 160 adolescents. Out of the total sample, 80 were living in the orphanages; and 80 participants were living with their both parents. They were selected by employing purposive-incidental sampling technique. Participants responded to the index of the Personal Information Form (PIF), Bangla version of Rosenberg Self-Esteem scale, Bangla version of Buss- Perry Aggression Questionnaire, and Bangla version of Adolescent Personality Assessment Questionnaire. Results showed that key variables were significantly correlated with one another. Results indicated that the children in orphanages have lower self-esteem, are more aggressive, and have higher psychological adjustment problem than children living with their both parents. Results also showed that girls have lower self-esteem and they are less aggressive than boys. Self-esteem has been found to be an important predictor of psychological adjustment of the respondents. Therefore, the findings of present research will encourage our perceptive of self-esteem and will advance the understanding about the negative impact of aggression on children’s mental health. Abstract:
Elevate Children Funders Group (ECFG), a consortium of foundations dedicated to building strong families and a life free from violence for all children, strongly believes and supports the idea that children are best able to thrive and reach their full potential when they remain with their families and communities rather than living in residential care. Years of research has shown that orphanages often expose children to serious abuse, harm and neglect, can impact a child’s physical and psychological development and is often much more expensive than family or community-based care. However, despite this evidence, the number of residential care institutions has been steadily or even exponentially increasing. Donors continue to invest in orphanages—drawing more children into institutions and away from families. To this end, this article will make a case for investing in families and communities rather than orphanages by putting a spotlight on ECFG member investments in Asia. By drawing on recent ECFG funding research and foundation investments, this article will highlight how donors can do more to help deinstitutionalisation efforts across the region.

However, the lives of the elderly in the Nursing Home didn’t all go smoothly, according to a study conducted at the Griya Sehat Bahagia Nursing Home that 94.5% of the elderly had depression. Therefore it has become the duty of the orphanage to provide services for the elderly to assist the process of adaptation of the elderly by fulfilling the basic requirements for carrying out their lives (physical, psychological and social conditions). This study uses the literature study method. And from the studies, it was found that the service efforts of the elderly have been regulated in law number 13 (1998) article 3 which states that efforts to improve elderly social welfare include the implementation of physical, mental, skill and social guidance services. It all includes all aspects needed by the elderly to fulfill the aspects needed to adapt.Key Words : Elderly, Adapt, Nursing Home, Nursing Home Services.

Abstract:
The paper traces the logic of research into the phenomenon of “closedness” from a small group to a “closed society”. The works of Mikhail Kondratyev dedicated to closed groups are reviewed in the context of research on orphanages and as crucial in defining the psychological content of the very phenomenon of “social closedness”. As an example of how M. Kondratyev’s key ideas on closed groups may be applied, the paper presents an empirical research on the “closed society”. It is argued that all basic social psychological patterns discovered by M. Kondratyev in small closed groups are completely relevant to the ones found in the big closed group — the “closed society”.

Abstract:
A group of 124 children orphaned by AIDS (COA), who resided in two orphanages funded by the Chinese government, participated in a study investigating the efficacy of a grief-processing-based psychological group intervention. This psychological intervention program was designed to specifically help COA process their grief and reduce their psychological distress. Six sessions of group intervention focused on processing grief, reducing traumatic symptoms and psychological distress, and fostering hope about the future. At the three-month post-test, children in both groups (intervention group and control group) reported significant reduction in trauma symptoms and demonstrated similar levels of hope. However, the intervention group reported significantly increased levels of grief processing and decreased levels of trauma symptoms, depression, and threat appraisal. The intervention group also reported subjective improvements in mood, relationships, individual growth, self-confidence, and perceived social support. These outcomes supported the potential efficacy of grief-processing-based psychological intervention to reduce the psychological distress among COA.

Abstract:
AbstractThe science of infertility has advanced rapidly over the past decade, in many respects without regard to the enormous demands that are placed on all participants undergoing an infertility work-up and treatment. Among these demands are a variety of potential psychological effects that must be addressed in the initial patient visit with continued counseling throughout the infertility work-up process. This article reviews the psychological factors that may affect individual patients and couples experiencing infertility, with special attention given to the common manifestations of stress. The need for physicians to provide early and ongoing attention to emotions is emphasized, and a biopsychosocial approach to infertility evaluations is outlined.
