Theoretically the adolescent psychological development is a transition period which is marked by changes in biological, psychological and social aspects. Empirically, the increasing trend of juvenile delinquency is caused by the inability of the early adolescents to be assertive so that their personality become weak and they can easily fall into negative things. This study aimed at determining the extent to which environment and mass media have the influence on assertive behaviour and juvenile delinquency trend in Junior High School in West Java Province. The respondents of this research were 458 students of Junior High Schools in West Java. Questionnaire was used to collect the data. Samples were chosen by using stratified random sampling technique. Data analysis employed Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) with two-stages testing: measurement model and structural model, using Analysis of Moment Structure (AMOS). The results of this study revealed that all hypothetical statements have significant effects. The findings showed that the increasing level of students’ assertive behaviour can decrease the tendency of juvenile delinquency in them. Abstract:
Virus is a borderline between living and non-living things, not capable of reproduction but only do this process utilizing the machineries of a living cell. For most ordinary people in the Philippines, the corona virus that caused Corona Virus Disease in December 2019 (COVID 19) was not of big importance. The Philippine government was just observing the usual measure such as installing thermal screening in the airports to detect arriving passengers with flu. The virus continued to spread to the whole world. The continuous spread of the virus is the reason why mass media in print, in television, and other forms were used to educate people on how to prevent the spread of the virus. The Philippines positive cases were increasing almost exponentially. The Philippines government was getting more serious on the corona virus problem. President Rodrigo Duterte announced in the evening of March 12, 2020 of the month-long lock down of the whole Metro Manila from March 15 to April 14, 2020 as the country looks forward to contain the COVID 19. Land, domestic air and domestic sea to and from Metro Manila were suspended within the period. Social and religious activities that involved mass gathering were banned. Conferences, seminars and like activities were postponed and people were advised to stay at home. The lock down has brought about both negative and positive things to the government and to the people which can be observed commonly in every place. The negative things could fall into economic, social and psychological aspects. If corona virus brings negative and undesirable things in the community and in the Philippines, there are also positive things that sprouted. It is true indeed that a misfortune or a disaster to a place or persons can be an opportunity to others. Lots of things which are favorable and beneficial to many people and to the nature during the lock down which include economic, social and ecological aspects. The current situation brought by the corona virus that resulted to lock down implemented by the government of the Philippines gives an opportunity to learn the value of compassion and empathy in times of crisis. COVID 19 is bad, but people can also see the good effect of it. In the Philippines, people always boost the morale of our fellow Filipinos to unite in this battle to overcome this crisis and “together, we heal as one”.

Abstract:
Background:Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a chronic inflammatory condition in which a delayed diagnosis will have health impacts including physical and psychological aspects. Thus, identification of risk factors and early diagnosis are crucial in clinical practice. In Malaysia, 13.7% of patients with underlying psoriasis develop PsA 1. However, there are limited data on the risk factors in developing PsA in these patients, not just in Malaysia but also in the Southeast Asia region. Objectives:To analyse sex, clinical features, comorbidities in patients with psoriasis and PsA, and the predictive factors of developing PsA in patients with underlying psoriasis. Methods:A retrospective study was carried out involving patients with a physician-verified diagnosis of psoriasis who were attending the dermatology and/or rheumatology clinics at the University of Malaya Medical Centre, Kuala Lumpur between 2015 to 2020. Data were retrieved from electronic medical records. Data collected included sex, age, body mass index (BMI), duration of psoriasis, socio-demographics, comorbidities, body area affected, severity of skin involvement, presence of nail involvement and systemic therapy used in treating psoriasis. Systemic therapy is defined as methotrexate, sulfasalazine and/or acitretin used before diagnosis of PsA. Patients with psoriasis who developed PsA had information collected on tender joint count, swollen joint count and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) at their initial visit to the rheumatologist. Logistic regression analyses were performed to identify the possible risk factors of developing PsA.Results:A total of 330 psoriasis patients which included 54.5% male and a mean age of 53 (standard deviation, SD 18.85) years were included. Eighty-three (25.0%) patients were diagnosed with PsA. Among patients with PsA, 39.8% were males with a mean age of 54 (SD 15.79) years. Majority of the PsA patients were ethnic Malay (45.8%), followed by 28.9% Chinese and 25.3% Indian. The median duration of developing PsA was at 36 (IQR 3.5 - 114) months after the diagnosis of psoriasis. 12.3% presented with active polyarthritis at the initial diagnosis of PsA. There was a significant difference in the use of systemic therapy in females, in which there was a higher rate of systemic therapy used in female PsA patients prior to developing PsA as compared to females with psoriasis who did not develop PsA (n=24, 48% vs n=16, 16%; p < 0.001). There was no significant association between ethnicity, education level, comorbidities, BMI, body area affected and family history of psoriasis with development of PsA. The predictive factors in developing PsA are females (OR = 3.14, 95% CI 1.77,5.58), presence of nail involvement (OR = 3.72, 95% CI 1.91,7.26) and the use of systemic therapy (OR = 3.04, 95% CI 1.70,5.43), (all p values <0.001).Conclusion:This study highlighted that female sex, presence of nail involvement and use of systemic therapy prior to PsA diagnosis are predictive risk factors in developing PsA among patients with underlying psoriasis. Further prospective studies with larger cohorts are needed to better delineate these risk factors.References:[1]Mohd Affandi A, Khan I, Ngah Saaya N. Abstract:
This article deals with media coverage of destructive deviant behavior, particularly, suicides and drug addiction. Presentation of deviant behavior by the media is closely linked to romanticization of crime in the contemporary mass culture, which is a dangerous phenomenon for the society. Mass media products that tell about deviant behavior have a strong psychological impact since criminal romanticism is so widespread in mass culture that criminal and deviant behavior is sometimes presented as a role model. The author studies legal and ethical aspects of media coverage of deviant behavior, gives an analytical review of legal rules and recommendations for journalists on how to cover cases of suicide or drug abuse. The latter have been worked out by either regulatory agencies or authorities interested in this process. Moreover, one cannot find such rules or recommendations either in the Code of Professional Ethics of Russian Journalists or in the draft of the Standard of Media Ethic developed by the Public Panel for Complaints about the Press of Russian Union of Journalists. The article describes compositional, lexical and stylistic means of romanticizing deviant behavior, and analyzes coverage of suicides and drug abuse by the example of media content of Russian popular newspapers Rossiyskaya Gazeta and Komsomolskaya Pravda. The most common means include an eye-catching title, shifting the focus from the case of deviant behavior to the agent’s outstanding personality traits, the author’s affective evaluation of the case, evocative lexicon, and quotes or reminiscences that justify or approve of the deviant behavior. The author infers that the means of romanticising deviance by the mass media correlate with the techniques which regulatory agencies and experts recommend journalists to avoid. Therefore, the usage of these means may be considered a bad violation of journalists’ professional ethic.

This qualitative study describes the lived experience of physicians who work in communities that have experienced a public mass shooting. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with seventeen physicians involved in eight separate mass casualty shooting incidents in the United States. Four major themes emerged from constant comparative analysis: (1) The psychological toll on physicians: “I wonder if I'm broken”; (2) the importance of and need for mass casualty shooting preparedness: “[We need to] recognize this as a public health concern and train physicians to manage it”; (3) massive media attention: “The media onslaught was unbelievable”; and (4) commitment to advocacy for a public health approach to firearm violence: “I want to do whatever I can to prevent some of these terrible events.”

Abstract:
Objective. This research aims at defining the principles of constructing effective narratives with the use of the strategic communication capabilities and the media. Materials and Methods. Publications in modern English and Ukrainian mass-media have been analyzed using methods and techniques of discourse analysis, content- and intent-analysis with elements of pragmatic and narrative analysis. The author’s methodology included the following: to identify the author’s intention and motives, the main topoi and points of the narrative focalization, to define hidden beliefs, social and psychological basis for the recipient’s perception of the narrative, to outline effective strategies for the narrative construction and dissemination in the media. Results. In general, modern media have the capacity of constructing the desired frames in the audience’s consciousness by creating a mental model of the situation, on which the consumer of the information starts to rely. Decision-making now is reliant on the media consciousness, a virtual world imposed by the media and constructed with the help of relevant narratives. Modern strategic narratives usually have the external focalization which gets more credibility when supported and presented by the focalization points of celebrities and experts. Competing narratives, as well as the plurality of possible interpretations of events, are destroyed with the help of the media, which begin to broadcast one interpretation of the event that matches the narrative, by this making it the truth. Simultaneous use of several different media intensifies the influence and support the narrative. Repeating information changes its status and makes it not just a fact, but general knowledge. Any narrative is not only a sequential story of the selected events, but also persuasion in its nature. Persuasion is enhanced when narratives resonate with the audience's value system. Conclusions. As a strategic communication tool, an effective narrative is constructed with regard to all the aspects of communication, psycholinguistic and social aspects being especially important. Further insights into the problem of shaping narratives will allow outlining best practices and their elements to develop image-forming narratives.

Abstract:
In current society, body and beauty's cult emerge as one of the main factors of adolescence. That leads adolescents to be dissatisfied with their own appearance, to psychological maladjustment, and nutritional disorders. This quantitative, exploratory, and cross-sectional research evaluates how adolescents perceive their weight and the prevalence of obesity in a sample of adolescents from the district of Viseu (Portugal). It also attempted to compare the relation of body-image and obesity with sociodemographic (school, sex, age, socioeconomic status, family functioning), psychological (self-concept, depression, school success) and behavioral aspects (physical inactivity). After data analyses, it was verified that the prevalence of obesity was 8.8% but 12.7% considered themselves obese. These adolescents had higher physical inactivity, poorer family functioning, a lower self-concept, and a higher depression index. The really obese adolescents were older and had poorer academic results. Obesity was higher in boys, but girls perceived themselves more as being obese. In conclusion, it is essential to evaluate weight perception in addition to body mass index (BMI), because the main problem could be related not only to being obese, but also to the perception of having a higher than ideal weight.

Abstract:
Despite all the positive changes due to European integration processes, the problem of prejudiced and negative attitudes towards people with “non-traditional sexual orientation” in Ukraine traditionally remains unresolved, homosexuality is taboo and it is “sinful”, and homophobic attitudes are often perceived as “truly moral” Christian virtues. The empirical study on psychological characteristics of the development and manifestation of young people’s homophobia performed by us has demonstrated existing contradictions in young people’s attitudes to homosexuality. On the one hand, young men and women belong to a fairly progressive, quite tolerant part of society. On the other hand, our data have revealed homophobic behaviour often manifested by young people. Many young people showed homo-negativism - denial and negative attitude towards certain aspects of homosexuality. Thus, very many young men and women believed that homosexuality was dangerous, since it could cause a “possible demographic crisis”, “spread of diseases”, “dissolution of the family as a social institution” and “harmful effects on a future generation’s psyche”. Many young people were convinced that an obviously demonstrated homosexual lifestyle increased the number of people with a non-traditional orientation, therefore gay pride parades, same-sex marriages, and adoption of children by homosexuals should be banned. Negative ideas about homosexual people and prejudice against them were formed not because young people’s own experience, since they practically did not know homosexuals, but due to stereotypical thinking, non-professional publications in the media and due to the lack of proper education in the field of gender psychology. In our opinion, homonegativism and homophobia shared by young people exist because of inadequate, not scientifically proven information about homosexual people, biased perception of sexual minorities based on shocking images of entertainers, film characters etc. We believe that overcoming homonegativism and homophobia is possible through the refutation of myths, stereotypes and prejudices regarding various aspects of human sexuality with psychological education and through an adequate state policy that should not contribute to anti-homosexual xenophobic attitudes.

Abstract:
Breast cancer, the most common cancer among women in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, is associated with social and psychological implications deriving from women’s socio-cultural contexts. Examining 74 articles published between 2007 and 2019, this literature/narrative review explores the psychosocial aspects of female breast cancer in the MENA region. It highlights socio-cultural barriers to seeking help and socio-political factors influencing women’s experience with the disease. In 17 of 22 Arab countries, common findings emerge which derive from shared cultural values. Findings indicate that women lack knowledge of breast cancer screening (BCS) and breast cancer self-examination (BSE) benefits/techniques due to a lack of physicians’ recommendations, fear, embarrassment, cultural beliefs, and a lack of formal and informal support systems. Women in rural areas or with low socioeconomic status further lack access to health services. Women with breast cancer, report low self-esteem due to gender dynamics and a tendency towards fatalism. Collaboration between mass media, health and education systems, and leading social-religious figures plays a major role in overcoming psychological and cultural barriers, including beliefs surrounding pain, fear, embarrassment, and modesty, particularly for women of lower socioeconomic status and women living in crises and conflict zones.

Abstract:
The long term effects of GH replacement in adult GH-deficient (GHD) patients have not yet been clarified. We studied 21 GHD adults who originally took part in a randomized, double blind, placebo-controlled trial of GH treatment in 1987. After completion of that trial, 10 patients received continuous GH replacement for the subsequent 10 yr, whereas 11 did not. A group of 11 age- and sex-matched normal controls were also studied in 1987 and 1997. Lean body mass, as assessed by total body potassium measurement and computed tomography scanning of the dominant thigh, increased in the GH-treated group (P < 0.01 for both) only (P < 0.05 between groups for total body potassium). Low density lipoprotein cholesterol decreased in the GH-treated group (P < 0.05) only. Carotid intima media thickness was significantly greater (P < 0.05) in the untreated group than in the GH-treated group. Assessment of psychological well-being using the Nottingham Health Profile revealed improvement in overall score, energy levels, and emotional reaction in the GH-treated group compared with those in the untreated group (P < 0.02). In conclusion, GH treatment for 10 yr in GHD adults resulted in increased lean body and muscle mass, a less atherogenic lipid profile, reduced carotid intima media thickness, and improved psychological well-being.

Abstract:
The efforts of peace-building and reconciliation between historical enemies are faced with many structural and psychological obstacles. Scholars have identified mechanisms that can induce improvements in psychological aspects of intergroup relations, such as intergroup contact. However, establishing direct contact with everyone is impossible. Therefore, the mass media represents an important source through which groups learn about each other. Numerous studies have shown that stereotypical and often negative portrayals of specific social groups through the media produce or reinforce negative intergroup outcomes. In this research, the authors report results from an experimental study conducted in a post-conflict society of Bosnia and Herzegovina ( N = 119). It examined the effects of stereotypical and counter-stereotypical representations of former enemy groups (Bosniaks) through the media on intergroup behavior (reported by Bosnian Serbs). More specifically, in this research the authors explored the effects of representing out-group individuals as immoral (the stereotypical condition) and moral (the counter-stereotypical condition) on specific behavioral tendencies toward the historical enemy group. The results indicate that exposure to primarily moral information about the out-group target facilitated important positive intergroup outcomes. This study extends the literature and research on moral exemplars by demonstrating the effects on relevant intergroup outcomes whilst utilizing current (vs. historical) moral exemplar stories.

Abstract:
The mass media focus on sporting events (Kristiansen, Hanstad, & Roberts, 2011), coupled with the interest in reporting the psychological aspects of sporting performance (Jones, 2005) can place practitioners in stressful situations (Fletcher, Rumbold, Tester, & Coombes, 2011). Concerns over “misrepresentation,” “misquotation,” “misinterpretation,” and being “incorrectly reported or understood” by the media can be at odds with a practitioner’s honest desire to disseminate findings and provide informed commentaries related to the discipline. This article aims to highlight the ethical, professional and personal challenges faced by Pete Lindsay while working as the resident sport psychologist for an international television broadcaster during a World championship sporting event. The autoethnographic account provides a series of reflective fragments that were abstracted from professional development documentation, supervisory meeting records of the time, and the authors recalled reflections of when Pete undertook the role. Practical implications for the training and certification of practitioners in relation to working within the media are considered.

Abstract:
Vladimir Nabokov’s Lolita (1955) and Martin Amis’ Money (1984) discuss the disadvantages of mass media. Amis uses John Self to reflect the disintegration of the self in the modern, Capitalist society of England in 1980s. Self represents the failure of the postmodern world by portraying a dystopian society. Amis and Nabokov tackle subjects pertaining to money, incest, delusion, and disappointment. Lights are shed on the moral aspect of the characters. The modernity of Amis’ fiction lies in its double deception of its characters; there is the American motif and a character who is not able to resist the magic of such motif. It is about consumerism or how aspects of post modernity and the consumer culture are portrayed. This paper aims to show the impact of mass media on the characters who are self-deluded and indulged in loving money, advertisements, and sex. It also aims at showing duality and corruption in both texts, John Self is bankrupt and wants to commit suicide. Humbert cheats many and is imprisoned and Lolita dies. Lolita becomes the victim of incest. It is an attempt to urge human beings to refuse cultural divisions and encourage human spirituality instead of Materialistic point of view.

Abstract:
In recent years, there has been a worldwide increase in the extent of overweight and obesity as well as other eating disorders, especially among youths. Alongside genetic and biological factors that can explain some aspects of these phenomena and the psychological outcomes associated with them, researchers attributed an important role to social and cultural factors, including the mass media. This study examined the relationship between media exposure and early adolescents’ body image. It applied social comparison theory to the study of favorite television characters, an original extension of past research on general social comparison processes. Specifically, the parasocial relationships and motivations for self-comparison with the characters were examined. Based on a survey among 391 seventh and eighth graders, the study found that media exposure negatively predicted body image both directly and through a mediation process involving parasocial relationships with favorite characters, motivations to self-compare, and engagement in social comparison with them. Further, social comparison with favorite characters was found to positively predict an actual/ideal body shape discrepancy which negatively predicted body image. The findings are discussed in light of theory, developmental considerations associated with this unique age group, past research, and educational and policy implications.

Abstract:
PURPOSE: This study aimed to understand the barriers to exercise and facilitators of exercise for up to 4 weeks following breast cancer surgery.METHODS: A descriptive qualitative research method was used in this study. Twelve patients were recruited through purposive sampling immediately after breast cancer surgery.RESULTS: Physical aspects (pain at the surgery site, reduction in the range of motion, and decrease in fitness), environmental aspects (difficulty in movement due to drain, lack of information on exercise), and psychological aspects (concerns about side effects, fear of pain, and fear of injury during exercise) were identified as barriers to exercise. Expectation of positive effects (recovery from surgery, prevention of lymphedema, usefulness for future radiation therapy, prevention of cancer recurrence, and health management) of exercise and social support (hospital education, support from medical staff, and exercise information received via mass media) were identified as facilitators of exercise.CONCLUSIONS: We recognized different barriers to exercise and facilitators of exercise among patients who recently underwent breast cancer surgery. Future exercise intervention studies should consider minimizing such barriers and maximizing the facilitators identified in our study.

Abstract:
Sex education is taught to secondary school students in Nepal. Nevertheless, there are concerns that the school-based sexual health education is not effective and adequate to address young people’s necessities. We carried out a qualitative study comprising key informant interviews with teachers (n=8) and parents (n=6) in Makwanpur district in Nepal. Interviews were recorded, transcribed and translated into English. Thematic analysis was performed to identify patterns or themes within the qualitative data. Most participants (both teachers and parents) had thought of delivering sex education preferably from grade seven to avoid the effects of globalised mass media and the internet. The practical aspects of school sex education programme and the importance of parent-child communication were of major concerns. Comprehensive training to health teachers, an informal approach to teaching sex education and seeking outside health professionals, such as health facilitators were the frequently reported issues. There is a need to offer sexual health services along with sex education to protect young people from potential dangers of STIs including HIV infection. Particularly, health teachers should be trained properly to mitigate the social and cultural impacts, and to allow a smooth sex education discussion in the classroom. The curriculum for sex education should be relevant, engaging and developmentally suitable with clear progressive avenues for learning experience.

The article aims at focusing attention at selected aspects of pop culture which may, from the point of view of evolutionary psychologists, be deemed approximate to animal proto-cultures and social systems observed among the three-year-olds, i.e. — people who have not yet developed a psychological skill called “theory of mind”. The Author tries to point out that elements of proto-culture in the time of pop -industry development gain on dominance, as a result of which the quality of culture creating processes as well as culture transmission processes may be different than, let’s say, fifty years ago. It is not only about the mass media, but it is most of all about deep psychological processes which are the basis for understanding the essence of culture and participation in culture. In other words, the author tries to argue that norms, ideas and values, i.e. what culture is made of in general — are understood and disseminated in ways which are different in quality from the ones prevailing in the past.

Abstract:
Book functioning in the modern society, called by the researchers not only as an information but also a media one, has changed. Book and media are considered as unique phenomena the essence of which being reflected in sense-filled notions. The aim of the article is to reveal the place of book in the media space. Its tasks are: 1) on the base of modern home and foreign dictionaries and encyclopedias to show the difference in approaches to definitions and expose the content of the concepts “book” and “media”; 2) to demonstrate the specifics of the book entering into contemporary media sphere both on the level of its transformation into new existence forms in the electronic environment and on the level of its being as an independent unit in the form of a printed book; 3) to establish the possible methodological approaches to the investigation of the problem and suggest the methodology of transdisciplinarity as the basic one. Methods used are: theoretical analysis and generalization, terminological analysis, transdisciplinary approach. The term “media” describes the whole sphere of activity (“media sphere”) in the centre of which are means of information and communication, social institutes, dealing with the content production and delivering it to the public. The book is included into this sphere transforming its form into a new electronic one and getting benefits through the variability ofelectronic resources, virtuality, a new language and communicative formats. A printed book with its great number of valuable properties, first of all ability to influence inner cognitive and psychological perception structures while reading faces significant difficulties in its publishing and dissemination; it’s transferred into the second row of information policy and mass cognition. Thus, it’s methodologically important to consider book in any form as a significant element in the modern media sphere. It’s promising to use the transdisciplinary approach to book research when it is studied not by aspects from the viewpoint of this or that discipline but as a whole using all acquired knowledge.

Abstract:
The introduction of information and communication technologies in all spheres of human activity, including in the military, causes the emergence of a wide range of threats to information security. Among them, special place is occupied by threats of information and psychological character, which manifest themselves in the form of negative information influences on the psychological state. Such influences are realized with the help of information messages that are perceived by the person, and after processing their consciousness, they adjust their worldview: affirm or change beliefs, attitudes, principles. Particularly dangerous are the changes in the military serving in the Allied Forces in eastern Ukraine. The constant access of the personnel to the media creates the conditions for the realization of such threats. A set of destructive messages can lead to prolonged deviations from the normal psychological state of the serviceman and, as a consequence, impede the performance of functional duties. The urgent task is to develop an approach to the organization of protection against such influence. This paper analyzes the experience gained during the monitoring of the information space and describes the main methods for creating and disseminating materials with a negative information impact on the Armed Forces personnel. An approach to determining the level of negative information influence in the media is offered, which allows to quantify aspects of information confrontation and creates a theoretical basis for the development of automated complexes of support and decision making regarding the protection of personnel from negative information influence. Recommendations are given to ensure the protection of military personnel from destructive influence and formulate a general approach to its organization. Therefore, in order to achieve this goal, the tasks are solved in the following: analysis of ways and methods of implementation of negative information influences by the Russian Federation through mass media; study of experience in counteracting such influence by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine; developing approaches to increase the effectiveness of such activities; making recommendations on the organization of protection of personnel involved in deterring Russia's aggression. The results obtained can be used in information operations to implement information space security measures.

Abstract:
In different historical stages, the nature of women has been explained from the religious myth, the moral principles, the scientific rationality and the psychological analysis. In the consumer society, the widespread consumption not only changes people’s daily life but also their social relations, world views and values. Men and women with the effect of commodities show different characteristics. The consumption generalization is the basic fact in the consumer society. Women, as the important consuming power, become the key target group for enterprises and media. In order to correspond with the commercial operation, the mass media guides women and constructs a femininity to serve for the commercial profits.Generally speaking, consumption culture constructs femininity from the following two aspects: on the one side, it constructs a modern female beauty standard—young, beautiful and sexy. Women thus become a huge consuming group of hairdressing and fashion. On the other side, it still advocates the traditional image of good housewives. Female consumers are oriented as the agent purchasers for the whole family. It demonstrates in this paper that shopping is sexual consuming. Woman’s beautiful image and good housewives image presents on their “agent purchasers” role in shopping.

Participants were 200 adolescents aged 12–15 selected by means of incidental sampling from second-year compulsory secondary education at schools. An interactive multimedia media literacy program (ML + NUT,Media LiteracyandNutrition) and a program focused on the same topics using dramatic arts (Theatre Alive) were applied and compared with a control group. Pretest, posttest (1 month later), and 5- and 13-month follow-up measurements were taken. Analyses were conducted with two-way mixed3×3ANCOVA (group × phase) adjusted by baseline levels, body mass index, and sex.Results. Participants in both experimental groups showed significantly higher self-esteem scores than the control group over time. The ML + NUT group also presented lower aesthetic ideal internalization scores than the control group.Discussion. Both programs can benefit students’ self-esteem. Moreover, ML + NUT program was useful in reducing thin-ideal internalization. However, differences in body dissatisfaction and disordered eating attitudes were not found. The programs may be protective on the core psychological variables, which are essential to adaptive adolescent development.

Abstract:
The society of "Western civilization" is a consumer society. A special role belongs here to the media, which have become an inseparable element in the life of a modern man. Their universality, as well as rapid development have caused that they deeply penetrated various areas of social life, becoming available not only for adults but also for children from their early age. The life of contemporary children is very strongly associated with the mass media, and the media have become an extremely important link in the process of socialization. The range and influence of the media are not only growing, but they are also completely different than they used to be. In addition to many functions that the media meet, they are also an important carrier for advertising. Children and young people can be both the recipients of the advertisement and its active participants. More and more advertising messages are directly or indirectly addressed to minors. Advertising affects an important cognitive sphere of a child and its interpersonal and social relations. A child left on the impact of advertising, accepts its content uncritically. This leads to the formation of many defective and, unfortunately, lasting beliefs that affect the formation of a child’s personality, the system of beliefs and values. The following text aims to present, based on the literature of the subject, a broad spectrum of advertising impact on a child, with a particular emphasis on television advertising. My assumption is to show the problem from the perspective of social sciences, including sociology. For this reason, I am not concentrating only on the psychological dimension of the phenomenon but I am also trying to outline important aspects of socio-cultural reality in which the process of socialization of child consumption takes place. This is a review article. The basis of the scientific workshop is the research - analysis of the secondary media with regard to reports, publications, newsletters, catalogues and information relating to the influence of media on consumer behavior of children, both in Poland and in some western societies in the world. I hope that the article will help to draw attention to the problem not only of the communities involved in psycho-social aspects of a child's development, but will also increase public awareness of the impact of media advertising on children.

In some circles, the term “Holocaust” has become the ultimate description of horror or horrific events. The Nazi medical experiments and practices are an example of these. Nazi medical science played a central and crucial role in creating and implementing practices designed to achieve a “Master Race.” Doctors interfered with the most intimate and previously sacrosanct aspects of life in these medical experiments – reproductive function and behavior – in addition to implementing eugenic sterilizations, euthanasia, and extermination programs. Manipulating reproductive life – as a less direct method of achieving the genocide of Jews – has been less acknowledged. The Nazis prevented those regarded as not meeting idealized Nazi racial standards – and particularly Jewish women – from having sex or bearing children through legal, social, psychological and biological means, as well as by murder. In contrast, they promoted reproductive life to achieve the antithesis of genocide – the mass promotion of life – among those deemed sufficiently “Aryan.” Implementing measures to prevent birth is a core feature of the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide. As with many other aspects of the Holocaust, science and scientists were inveigled into providing legitimacy for Nazi actions. The medical profession was no exception and was integrally involved in the manipulation of birth to implement the Holocaust.

Abstract:
The people of South Lampung coast generally work as fishermen. The coast of Lampung is prone to tsunamis and earthquakes because in addition to the position of the coast directly facing Mount Merapi Anak Karakatau, it is also at the confluence of three active plates: the Indo-Australian plate in the south, the Euro-Asia plate in the north plate and the Pacific on the east are very vulnerable against disasters, both from volcanic and tectonic activity. This study aims to describe the behavior of information seekers in the coastal communities of South Lampung who were affected by the tsunami and earthquake related to natural conditions and infrastructure. This research includes field research using the phenomenological method. The results showed that the information behavior of coastal communities in searching for geographic information shows that 1) they use mass media (WhatsApp, Facebook, and information centers) to search for geographic information related to tsunamis and earthquakes 2) Geographical information is obtained to fulfill their interests. work as a fisherman. 3) In addition, the use of information and communication technology media is due to psychological aspects and for social networking. 4) Constraints faced in the use of information and communication technology, namely the problem of skills / skills, especially strategies to find information, costs, and internet signals.

Abstract:
This Special Thematic Section brings together eight papers that showcase different aspects of the contribution of psychology to the processes of recovery in Rwanda following the 1994 genocide. The Section is noteworthy in part because a majority of the papers have Rwandan authors. In summarizing the contributions I make six observations about the remarkable context of the genocide and its aftermath: a) it was distinctive from previous mass violence in its intensity and character; b) it has been characterized by bystander inaction and the problems of positioning outsiders to help; c) hundreds of thousands of accused or convicted perpetrators have lived alongside survivors; d) electronic media played a profound role not only in promoting violence but also in building peace; e) Rwanda has been the site of unprecedented societal interventions with political goals that have the character and content of social psychological experiments; and f) the role of memorialization in repairing or sustaining harm needs further examination. I conclude by noting that the study of recovery is clear proof that the genocide in Rwanda, as is the case with genocides of the past, failed to achieve its aims.

Abstract:
The author examines the current state of literature, which has been marginalized by the boom of modern media and the free market. Literature is called to restore a worthy place in the system of cultural communication of society. It is contradicted by the experience of postmodernism, which has led to disorientation in the system of art values. Postmodernism was an important formation of the transition period. Three aspects of the postmodern worldview ― dehumanization of art, lack of truths' hierarchy and their plurality, and the loss of the author’s authority ― have led to a long-lasting crisis in the post-Soviet literatures, but in the wider context, it was a crisis of relations with society and public opinion. The continuation of this crisis is stimulated by the use of technologies aimed at producing the post-truth. In the contemporary world, dominated by mass media and popular culture, fiction is not fully responsible for the crisis of society. The author of the paper considers examples that confirm the relevance of literature to ideological conflicts and propaganda rhetoric. The novelties of Ukrainian, Russian, and Belarusian literatures provide good material for the study of the post-truth in its Eastern European modifications. Nowadays fiction is seeking its place once again; its potential means of influencing the human consciousness in the post-truth world are being renewed. This process should be seen dialectically, with its probable positive and negative consequences. The post-truth world gives literature a chance to leave the shadows of media and restore its authority in the cultural sphere. At the same time, the confluence of literary fiction with post-truth poses a considerable danger, since it may be applied in modern manipulative technologies. The establishment of social and psychological communication, which became one of the priority tasks of modern literature, should not be implemented at the cost of human degradation.

Abstract:
Despite technological advancements, India is vulnerable to disasters. Disasters of any etiology have the common denominator of a large number of deaths in a short span of time. Thus, the Administration is saddled with the indomitable task of retrieving and recovering dead bodies, then identifying them to enable the handing over of the remains to their next-of-kin. Initial media focus is often based on the myth that dead bodies cause epidemics. Therefore, bodies often are placed in mass burials or mass cremations universally, without being identified and without preserving the individuality of the deceased. This culminates into social, psychological, emotional, economic, and legal repercussions (financial compensation, property rights, inheritance, and issues of remarriage) regarding the legacy of the deceased, thereby exacerbating the damage caused by disasters. With the paradigm shift from the erstwhile response-centric approach after the enactment of the Disaster Management Act in 2005, to the holistic management of disasters, the National Disaster Management Authority embarked on the task of formulating the guidelines on this sensitive and vital issue. These Guidelines are designed to provide not only technical information, but also dwell on administrative aspects that will support the correct approach in handling dead bodies with the highest possible quality of standards/measures, and functioning in an interdisciplinary manner to ensure positive identification of victims. Management of the dead after disasters is under the ambit of the Incident Response System being incorporated in the National, State and District “all hazard” Disaster Management Plans are intended to achieve the desired aim that no unidentified body should be laid to rest.

AbstractIntroduction: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) patients are commonly submitted to prolonged sedation, mechanical ventilation, immobility and length of hospital stay, which can lead to neuromuscular and cognitive deficits. The Occupational Therapist (OT) seeks to minimize these conditions that directly interfere with the occupational performance of these patients. Knowing the client and his / her functional capacities from functional measurement tools can help in a better planning of the interventions. Objective: To describe the functional profile of the patients, as well as to obtain the most recurrent functional losses, and to point out the possible actions of OT in critical patients. Method: A longitudinal cohort study that included individuals with total independence prior to ICU admission. Two instruments were used to assess functionality - Perme Score during ICU stay, and FIM at ICU discharge. Results: A sample of 18 patients, with a mean age of 56 years, 55.6% of the female gender. Most of the patients remained only in bed during the entire ICU stay. Potential barriers to mobility were identified, related both to the patient and to the organization of the service. OT interventions included motor, cognitive, psychological, sensory and social aspects. After discharge from the ICU, more than half of the patients were able to perform activities outside the bed without assistance. Conclusion: The use of evaluations consistent with the characteristics of the sector and the population served contributes to a more structured treatment, as well as allows identifying aspects to be improved, providing a good care to critical patients. Abstract:
Despite the understandable and predictable lack of sociological interest in the issues related to heroism, the search for clear and unambiguous conceptual and empirical definitions of the hero in the contemporary society seems to be a relevant sociological task, especially under the current pandemic which made the criteria of heroism interesting for the wider public. The authors briefly outline the main aspects of the traditional scientific interpretations of heroism as presented in the social-cultural narratives worldwide, and proceed to the issues that constitute the field of the sociological studies on heroism. The first research question is not so much a single definition of the hero as types of heroes based on social representations of when and how heroes reveal themselves in decisions and actions. The authors rely on the traditional typologies of heroes usually based on the psychological aspects of heroic thinking and behavior to suggest a sociologically relevant typology based on both literature and the Russian public opinion polls. This typology implies answers to the questions of why the society needs heroes and what makes someone a hero in the eyes of the society, and allows to better understand and to more precisely define the false/pseudo/antiheroism. The second research question is about the sources of images and understanding of heroism, which focuses on the mass media and especially cinemas potential to represent certain social practices as heroic and to construct heroic images. The third research question is about the possibilities of the empirical sociological study of the types of heroes and their representation in the media (cinema). The authors argue that sociology should use its own methods (in a combination with techniques for studying the audiences perception of movies) - content analysis and surveys, especially the unfinished sentences technique, and provide some examples of how this can be done, for instance, to compare the social representations of a real hero and a movie hero among different age groups and generations. The authors conclude with mentioning a new issue associated with heroism, which became evident under the pandemic - changes in the social representations of heroism determined by heroization of healthcare workers due to their selfless fight against the coronavirus epidemic.

Kata kunci: Pola komunikasi dan pemberian informasi, ayah, remajaAbstractAdolescence is a period of transition from childhood to adulthood phase marked by changes occurred in both physical and psychological aspect. Therefore, most adolescents are enthusiastic to know those changes in her/his body. It is believed that addressing information about changes and transition occurred in adolescents should begin from the family, particularly from the father or the mother. However, it seems that it is still far from reality. The figure on parents addressing reproductive health information towards their adolescent is low. Percentage of female adolescent who have discussion on reproductive health issues with their parents is about 49%, while percentage of male adolescent is only 13%. The study is quantitative study using cross-sectional study design. The location of the study is at Soreang and Banjaran sub-districts in June, 2006. Subjects of the study are fathers who have adolescent age 10 to 19 years, and number of sample gathered was 100 respondents. Variables studied are: predisposing factors (occupational status of father and mother, father’s educational level, sex, knowledge on reproductive health); enabling factors (time spend with adolescent, and information media exposures); and reinforcing factors (family and society supports). Data were analyzed by univariate, bivariate (chi’s square test) and multivariate (logistic regression test) analyses. The results of the study showed that 51% respondents have poor communication and information pattern. Independent variables which have significant relationship on communication and information pattern were: time spent with adolescent in working day, and family and society support. Multivariate analysis found that the most dominant factor, after controlled by father’s occupation and time spent with adolescent in the working day, is family and society supports. Based on the study result, it is suggested that efforts on promotion and socialization about the importance of communication and reproductive health information addressed to the adolescent, have to be delivered to the father and the community. It is suggested also to inform that it is not only the quantity of communication and information that matters, but also the quality.Key words: Communication and information patterns, father, adolescent

Abstract:
The prevalence of orthorexia nervosa (ON) appears to be increasing, and more research into its cross-cultural aspects is required to provide culturally appropriate psychological treatment. Until now, there has been relatively little research published about ON across cultures. Therefore, the objectives of the present study were to determine: (1) the prevalence of ON in Polish and Lebanese adults and (2) the association between ON and sociodemographic variables and Body Mass Index (BMI) in two culturally different samples. One thousand two hundred and sixty-two adults participated in the present study (NPoland = 743 adults; NLebanon = 519 adults). The Düsseldorf Orthorexia Scale and the Eating Habits Questionnaire were used in the present study. Information about age, sex, anthropometry, and marital status was obtained from all participants as well. The Polish sample had an ON prevalence rate of 2.6%, while the Lebanese sample had an ON prevalence rate of 8.4%. No significant correlation was found between ON and age in both samples. A statistically significant difference was found between marital status and country on ON, with the highest mean score seen among Lebanese singles. In Lebanon, having a low of BMI ≤ 25 kg/m2 compared to a high BMI was significantly associated with lower ON tendencies, while this association was not significant among Polish participants. This study was the second to focus on the prevalence of ON in Western and non-Western countries and its association with sociodemographic characteristics and BMI ranges. Knowledge about ON and its correlates in diverse populations may inform the design of culturally tailored behavior change interventions and the development of culturally appropriate tools in various groups to improve their dietary patterns.

Abstract:
Background The burden of social inequalities in health as well as the association between obesity with morbidity and mortality is a worldwide problem. Therefore, the aim of our study was to investigate health-related factors, health, and quality of life in Austrian women and men with normal weight, overweight, and obesity with a different socioeconomic status (SES) based on actual data from 2015. Methods This representative population-based study was based on self-reported data of 15,338 Austrian adults (8,425 women and 6,933 men) in 2014/2015. Data of the Austrian Health Interview Survey was analyzed stratified by sex and adjusted for age concerning health-related behavior, health, and quality of life. Results The results have shown that people with a low SES differ significantly from those of high SES concerning health-related factors (e.g., eating behavior, physical activity), health and impairment due to chronic conditions, as well as quality of life. Obesity in women and men was associated with poorer health-related factors and more chronic conditions as well as unfavorable psychological aspects. In women, the results showed a significant body mass index*SES interaction for impairment due to disorders, the number of chronic conditions and quality of life in the domain of physical health. In men, the interaction was significant regarding alcohol consumption, as well as health impairment. The SES has a strong negative impact on health which implies that people of low SES have more health problems which especially concerns individuals who are obese. Therefore, a continuous target group-oriented, non-discriminatory, interdisciplinary public health program is required, prioritizing women, and men with obesity with a low SES.
