The ‘flow’ of time from the future to the past through a dimensionless present is a dramatic feature of our experience. In this paper I argue that the flow of time has found its way into the practice of stratigraphy where it has been detrimental to our clear conception of geologic time.

Abstract:
Incorrectly perceiving the chronology of events can fundamentally alter people’s understanding of the causal structure of the world. For example, when astronomers used the “eye and ear” method to locate stars, they showed systematic interindividual errors. In the current study, we showed that temporal-order perception may be considered a psychological bias that attention can modulate but not fully eradicate. According to Titchener’s law of prior entry, attention prioritizes the perception of an event and thus can help compensate for possible interindividual differences in the perceived timing

Psychological safety is a key factor for successful teamwork. Psychological safety signifies that individuals who work together share the belief that their team is safe for interpersonal risk taking. Since the 1970s, researchers have emphasized the importance of psychological safety for work teams in order to deal with changes and related feelings of uncertainty due to a competition-oriented and fast-paced labor market. Numerous studies demonstrated the relevance of psychological safety for learning from failures and for the improvement of performance levels in all kinds of work contexts. Most

Three studies were conducted to assess whether listeners were able to make consistent judgements about tempo that varied from piece to piece. Listeners heard short extracts of Scottish music played at a range of tempi and were asked to make a two alternative forced choice of 'too fast' or 'too slow' for each extract. The responses for each study were plotted as proportion too fast responses as a function of tempo for each piece, and cumulative normal curves were fitted to

A person exists in space and time. His or her life and work are subject to a temporal rhythm. Each of us has his/her own psychological time, which is different from the objective, physical time measured by the chronometer. The perception of time is a part of human experience, which is important for everyday behavior and for the survival of an individual organism. Stress is a multidimensional construct that comprises exposure to events, perceptions of stress, and physiological responses to stress. Research consistently demonstrates a strong association between stress and a myriad of physical and mental health concerns, resulting in a pervasive and interdisciplinary agreement on the importance of investigating the relationship between stress and health.
