Full textNowadays, work is at the cross way of technical and social metamorphoses which disclose the constitutive dimension of subjectivity in any human work. The subject matters which deal with psychism in professional activity question themselves about their relevance and their history. A "generalized" approach of work as a relation between activity and subjectivity is able to remove some of the epistemological hindrances that one meets in psychological analysis

Full textWe argue that non-work-related activities - which we conceptualize as (inter)actions expressing autotelism, not or not directly instrumental, functional - are important in everyday work, apprehended in the space-time of the office working day. We assess the limitations we see in the "classic" interpretations of these activities in research ('mainstream', 'critical', and 'occupational health/suffering'-oriented approaches), from which we develop our theoretical conceptualization, as well as a specific methodological design aimed at apprehending them. This qualitative, abductive and constructivist design combines diaries and a dialogical exploration (interviews or written exchanges). Our results lead us to apprehend them as dynamic processes structuring daily work life, before proposing two specific articulations: First, we study their links with professionalism, questioning the dominant reading of them as opposed to it; we suggest instead that these activities, in their behind-the-scenes qualities (Goffman, 1973), reveal the tension between prescribed, actual and desired professionalism. Lastly, we examine the possible relationships between these activities and the creation of (non)sense related to work. We propose to articulate the (non)meanings produced at two distinct scales: daily work ((non)meaning at work), and work in daily life ((non)meaning of work), while raising the possibility of a null meaning. We contribute to the operational theorization of these activities and work itself (by distinguishing them from out-of-work and antiwork), and in practice, to the re-interrogation of everyday work, its conditions and its meaning, at multiple levels

Full textPositive psychology is “ the study of the conditions and processes that contribute to the flourishing or optimal functioning of people, groups, and institutions” (Gable and Haidt, 2005, p.104). Happiness is a central concept in positive psychology but curiously little studied at work. Eight hundred and forty-seven employees participated in this research which breaks down into two objectives : The first objective was to build a Francophone Scale of Happiness at Work (EBT) and then validate it through five studies. Study 1 created a work happiness tool consisting of 9 items. In studies 2 and 3, factor analysis (exploratory and confirmatory) of data collected from two samples of French employees revealed the one-dimensional factor structure of EBT and a good internal consistency (.89 Conbach’s alpha). The fitting indices of the measurement model are also quite correct. Study 4 reinforced the structure of the EBT showing positive and significant correlations with two dimensions of Kern's (2014) tool, The Workplace PERMA Profiler. The first dimension, Accomplishment at Work, the second, Work Relationships. Study 5 examined the cultural validity of EBT by comparing two samples, one collected in Canada and the other in France. The results suggest that EBT applies to French-speaking cultures. The second objective is to identify the links between happiness at work and "positive" variables such as personality traits and comfort at work. The results indicate that the participants are relatively happy in their work, that they have a rather enthusiastic, altruistic, quite conscientious, emotionally stable and open-minded personality. Nevertheless, they have a relatively weak attachment to their workplace, a moderate control over the management of their privacy in the workplace, even if they consider their workspace to be quite comfortable and functional. The three concepts from positive psychology (happiness at work, comfort at work and personality in its positive dimension) are correlated. Partial mediation effects from Happiness at Work are found between the Opening dimension of the BFI-Fr and the Control / Privacy dimension of the Workplace Satisfaction Scale and between the BFI-Fr Neuroticism dimension and the Comfort / Functionality dimension of the satisfaction scale towards the workspace.EBT has satisfactory psychometric characteristics and can therefore be a valuable tool for occupational psychologists and human resource managers concerned with the happiness of workers in the workplace

Full textThe operator/subject's health has been considered as early as the beginning of the ergonomical psychology where ergonomy is one of the fundamental criteria in research and intervention. For a long time, the ergonomical and psychological analysis about work was based on a defensive idea of the health - no illness since fifteen years, due to certain epidemiological results and theoretical evolutions the psychic and social dimensions of the activity have been taken into consideration. Through the influence of the stress theory of the psychodynamic at work, they stated out their human model and their problematic of the health at work : the operator takes part in the edification of his own health which is at once no illness, well - being and accomplishment of himself. The relation between work nd health cannot be only explained through the direct effects of pressure at work. The operator, subject in action, "clever" and "concerned", "subjective" and "full of ambivalence" is engaged in the work condition with his own story, aim and technology. The duality between these personal characteristics and those of the organization will become a positive fact for his health or on the contrary generate compromises resulting solely from the demands of efficiency endangering his physical, psychic and mental integrity. The understanding of this duality, its origin, development and issues goes through the activity analysis at work so. It will be possible to point out the role of the operator/subject in the regulation of the system and in the edification of his health - performance and health are not solely dependant of the objective reality. They are also a function of the operator's way of thinking and living the situation, and thus a function of the subjective reality. So it appears necessary to find some methodological connectors between the different approaches to finally propose an explanatory model of stress and psychic suffering at work

Full textThe problem studied globaly is that of the inconscious stakes of the cathexis of occupational work and, more specifically, that of intrapsychological process wich enable the subject to support, indeed make satisfying, the constraints and agressions of work against him. The existence of protective masochist process hypothesis can explain the subject ability to make bearable the internal destructivity reactivated by its relations with the work reality. The first part specifies the occupational work's place in S. Freud's work, in his intrapsychological life and in four of his clinical cases. The occupational work appears there very implicated in the stakes of father complex and masochism position. The second part lays the theorical basis of protective masochism : fusion of instincts, narcissistic regression and submission relation appear there as the essential of protective masochism process. The third part searches these protective masochist processes in the reality of cathexis occupational work. Fourteen clinical interviews and witnesses published frame the study material. The connexion with the task, the professional relations, the functions and the work social significances are analysed. These analysis of every reality's part of occupational work permit to locate the satisfying effects, then the suffering it causes and the protective masochist processes wich protect the subject of these sufferings

Full textGrafted upon a notion introduced by freud in 1915, "verganglichkeit", expectation of this thesis is to set up heuristic value of the concept "transience" in the field of clinic psychology. The four volumes are integrating three parts : 1 motus and modus : as to present the ground problem of the work (the strange familiarity of psy-people, uncanny research in clinic psychology, overflowing candidates in this profession, practionners's institutionnal swerving), then problematic refered to double reef as ephebie and amazons, illustrated by greek tragedy in vth century b-c. Transience is the red thread identified too late to explain promises and misfortunes of clinic psychology, as an heuristic and practice. It is the process maintening and baffling the psychic work of representation attested by published corpus for 25 years : therefore various by different periods, subjects, style. 2 corpus is arranged in four parts according the proposed psychic system : 4 drive vectors, 4 psyche anaclisis, 4 representation drawers refered to freud, szondi, anzieu, kaes and valabrega. This pattern : surrounding, body, group, myth, authorizes linking between practice, logic esthetical and ethical abilities; economical, topographical dynamical, structural psychic properties. Chromesthesy and habitation 1) sexuality, filiation and risk 2) formation, fonction of fix and animated pictures (turner, n. De stael, f. Truffaut) and creative process are analysed. 3) opus returns to clinic psychology case operatively and operationaly, as to propose a definition of clinic work in psychology transforming transience into act of passing

Full textThis research takes place in the French social context of the impressing growth of trainings, built on the pattern of apprenticeship, part time at school and part-time working. Its aim was to analyse the effects of such a training on identity and transition of young people from 18 to 25. More specially, we focused on a comparison of two populations of students of Iut (Institut Universitaire Technologique), in sale, following normal training (mainly at school with 10 weeks at work) or apprenticeship (part time at work and at school). The research has two parts. The first is a summary of several psychosociological theoretical approaches concerning transition from school to work, socialisation and identity of young people as well as representations and attitudes upon work and professional life we choose two ways of collecting data. In a first time, we had a qualitative approach: 50 young students were interviewed. After, nearly 350 students answered to a questionnary. The second part concerns the results of the research. We can see in analysing these results that apprenticeship plays an important role on construction of professional identity of the young people but a lot of other factors must be taken into account to understand the changes of identity during this period of transition from school to work: conceptions of work, vocational choices, ideal self, as well as self esteem and self monitoring. We underlined in conclusion two different ways of building professional identity. The experimentation pattern is linked to apprenticeship and the identification pattern is linked to traditional training
Ponnelle, Sandrine. "Rôle des déterminants contextuels et personnels dans l'ajustement aux situations de stress." Amiens, 1998. http://www.theses.fr/1998AMIE0006.
Full textCognitive approach of stress proposes a transactionnal model integral dispositional factors, characteristics of situation and psychic activity (cognitive, emotional, behavioural) that a person do to cope with stressful experiences. A meaning given to the situation (loss, challenge, threat) that depends on individual coping resources (personal and /or social) and strategies to cope with stressful situations alters impact of these situations on health. However, it exists a disagreement about focus of coping (oriented on task, emotion or avaidance)a and theirs consequences on health; this disagreement can be explained by conceptualization and evaluation of coping. Actually, an important conceptual distinction exists between coping as a reponse to an particular event (coping strategy) and coping as dispositional factor (personality trait or coping style). To understand the relation stressors strain, it is necessary to ask oneself about concept of coping and study coping style and coping strategy simustaneously. The problematic of this thesis is focused on articulations between dispositional factors, contextuals characteristics, health and coping style and coping strategy. Results of this research shows that the characteristics of context (objective and subjective nature) and individual's characteristics determine coping strategies and health. In the same way, role of these determinants varies from functions of coping (task, emotion or avaidance). It exists a link between coping style and coping strategy, but it depends on situations. These two evaluations of coping have particular relation in stress dynamic
Loisy, Catherine. "La mémoire de travail visuo-spatiale : recherche d'un effet longueur de parcours." Grenoble 2, 1998. http://www.theses.fr/1998GRE29003.
Full textThe studies we have carried out are within the framework of baddeley and hitch (1974)'s working memory model. They have in view to dissociate the model's modules and to find effects characteristic of the visuo-spatial component. The classical notion of the working memory model (baddeley & hitch,1974) comprises a central executive supervising two temporary storage systems, the phonological loop and the vssp (visuo-spatial scratch pad or visuo-spatial sketch pad). The phonological loop thought to be involved in the encoding and maintenance of verbal material benefits from converging evidence allowing it to be a relatively sophisticated conceptualisation (e. G. , gathercole & baddeley, 1993). A particularly important piece of evidence is the word length effect. The existence of this effect and its evolution under the interference tasks paradigm are indicators of the presence of a rehearsal mechanism. Research on the vssp is still ambiguous and it is thought that visuo-spatial activities could require the use of general purpose resources (e. G. , smyth & scholey, 1994a,b) ; actually the dissociation technique is not sophisticated enough to demonstrate the existence of three mechanisms (logie, zucco & baddeley, 1990). Moreover no effect indicates rehearsal mechanism's efficiency. The first experiment's aim is to dissociate the model's modules in a procedure whereby all the components must be activated independently. The results are coherent with badddey' model and seem to show that the use of general purpose resources is the same both in verbal span and location span tasks. We hypothesise that if there is any visuo-spatial rehearsal, a path length effect should be shown because such a mechanism would take longer to refresh longer material. The next experiments show the presence of the predicted length effect, reveal its p parameters, and show that it can be found in other tasks, such as the corsi blocs. The last experiment fails to abolish path length effect by classical visuo-spatial interference tasks. These results suggest that in working memory visuo-spatial material benefits from a rehearsal that merits firer investigation notably to find out its nature

Full textThe doctoral thesis presents and proposes interpretations of results obtained in experimental investigations centred on a kind of social practices : the practices of social work, and articulated with theoretical framework issued of social cognitive psychology. The main concepts of social cognitive psychology were used : categorization, prototypical construction, implicit personality theories, illusory correlation, systematic distortion, attribution, explanation of reinforcements and psychologization. The analysis of these cognitive processes in social workers's practices did not give opposite results to those obtained when the processes are studied in the conception of "man as scientist". But it was shown that the effects are dependant of other factors. Their importance is due to the kind of people' social implications with analyzed informations. The analysis of results shows that there were normativ and ideological effects of cognitive processes in social work. These results reinforce a socio-cognitive conception of "man as ideologic"

Full textThis research is in keeping with our job as teachers of adults at the department of agriculture. This has led us to work with office employees (C and D category). These employees, mostly women, suffer from a lack of recognition from the managerial staff which mainly valorises engineering projects ; they live within an institution which is not favourable to their personal opening out. By checking the following main assumption : there is a link between the employees personality structures and their professional careers, we have developed a five points-typology : from the go-getter to the person who retreats into himself, this study identifies the elements which make up either a strong or an injured personal identity, and their links with the job. The study shows the importance of parental affection on the building of a personality. It points out parents influence on their child's professional career through their own vocational wish and their interest for the child’s success at school. The last part of this thesis suggests a new and indidualized training which is specific for these employees and contributes to the restructuring of personal identity, through the carrying out of a personal and vocational project which will enable them to play an active part within their institution

Full textThis research explains the reactions of individuals during a career transition using an analysis in terms of stress at work. The research model involves variables in the field of career management and stress. Seven hypothesis explain the influence of the magnitude of the transition on strain indicators and make clear the moderator role of some variables. The methodology is based on on a quantitative study (144 teachers and 116 regular soldiers) then on a qualitative study (19 interviews with teachers and 12 with regular soldiers). The main result of the quantitative study shows the link between the magnitude of a career transition and strain indicators. On the one hand, control of career transition, length of service, feeling of being in the "performance" career stage, or social support minimise the effect of the magnitude of career transition on some indicators of strain. On the other hand, for people who think they are in the withdrawal career stage the effect of the magnitude of career transition on some indicators of strain is greater. Some other results complete an understanding of these relations. The qualitative study explain in further detail the role of the person's control over career transition and the role of social support. Our results show the role of cognitive appraisals and career contracts. The caracteristics of the transition influence coping strategies, control and social support. The lack of time increases the effects of the magnitude of the transition. The limits are due to the size of the samples and to the specificity of populations that do not meet the criteria of external validity. Further researchs can try to remedy these limits or to go deeper in cognitive and affective phenomena involved in the transition appraisal. The analysis of the role of time and of contextual caracteristics are another direction for research

Full textCreating jobs for mentally retarded people is a recent phenomena. The researches in this field are very seldom. The present research points out skills and behaviours of mentally retarded people at work. It has been achieved in two steps. In the first part, we have studied the relationship between the psycho-medical evaluation and the evaluation of the work ability by instructors. In the second part, our samples en three groups are effected, accoraing to a method applied in the first part, we have applied an ergonomic analyse of work of the operators from video recording of natural situation on the work stations. The results of observations and analyses of the tasks indicate : - a difference between work skill of mentally retarded operators and their intelligence level, measured by intelligence tests (i. Q. ) - existence of a variability and a regulation system in mentally retarded operators comparable with non-retarded operators. - some typical behaviours in their activities

Full textThe main aim of this research is to examine the possible links between cancer decompensation and work situations experienced as violent and traumatic. Based on her clinical experience in an onco-haematology department, and following a number of encounters with subjects who cited the professional sphere as the cause of their illness, the author wished to carry out more extensive and precise field investigations into this subject. The aim was to find out how many subjects were potentially 'work-sick', and to talk to them in order to identify the conscious and unconscious movements that, in their view, contributed to such a somatic situation, among other factors. The clinical interviews with twenty subjects, who were highly committed to their work, highlighted the effects of (ob)scenalisation of the unconscious scene on the professional scene, and the possible traumatic collision between these two scenes. Her theoretical hypotheses enabled the author to propose an understanding of these movements through the existence of an ego-pro linked to institutional envelopes - made up of the institution, the work organisation and the various groups to which the worker belongs - which would serve the subject's psychic and somatic equilibrium when his subjectivity unfolds at work. Conversely, when subjectivity is prevented, the author has shown how elements previously contained and/or metabolised can come back and echo the unbound elements of the amential unconscious, causing serious somatisation (the original and primary dysfiliation collapsing in a traumatic way with professional disaffiliation)

It is divided into five topics: "security at work and human fiability"; "temporal structuration of activities "; "professionnal experience in a trafic regulation task"; alternated tasks and processing interferences"; "thought about working psychology". For each topic the author presents the specific view of each research, the methodology used and the results obtained. Each topic is followed by a synthesis. In a general synthesis, the author shows the relations between topics and the centrality of the temporal dimension. In the last section; two researches are planned: nature of knowledge and expertise in the control of dynamic process, and processing interferences in timesharing activities. In conclusion is a debate about some crucial questions for cognitive and working psychology

The effect of a verbal and a nonverbal memory load on negative priming was investigated by employing a concurrent task with a word selection task or a figure selection task. Participants performed two conditions: an easy-selection condition and a difficult-selection condition. We attempted to observe how the central executive allocate resources in negative priming task and memory task. Results suggested that individuals différences in working memory correspond to différences in capability for controlled attention. Furthermore, our data present supporting evidence for a theory of working memory capacity developed by Cowan (1988, 1995)

Full textThe present research is aimed at studying different dimensions of job satisfaction in Brazilien and French workers. In each country, subjects were randomly sampled out from similar domains of activity. In addition, the percepion that foremen have about the worker's satisfaction was explored. The job descriptive index, designed by Smith, Kendall and Hulin (French adaptation by J. -L. Mogenet, university Paris X) was used in the study. The foremen received a modified version of the questionnaire. When interpreting the results, the respective socio-economical situation in each country was taken into account, in order to control for actual conditions of living of the workers. The general hypotheses bear on the comparison of the different satisfaction dimensions in each sub-sample. They were tested at a descriptive and correlational level. A principal components factor analysis permitted to elicit the structure of the relationships between dimensions of satisfaction. A structural variance-covariance model (Lisrel) was applied to test for causal relationships between latent variables extracted from the factor analysis

Full textThe purpose of this thesis was to study the involvement of working memory's sub-systems (visuo-spatial sketchpad and phonological loop, Baddeley, 1986) in the comprehsion of texts and illustrations (Exp. 1 & 2) and in the integration of multimedia information (Exp. 3 & 4). In this purpose, the dual task paradigm was used , with a spatial concurrent task (tapping) and a verbal concurrent task (concurrent articulation). The results from experiments 1 and 2 showed that the visuo-spatial sketchpad is selectively involved in processing illustrated texts or illustrations presented alone. The phonological loop is specifically involved in processing texts. The experiments dealing with a realistic multimedia material suggested that the sub-systems of working memory are involved in the cognitive integration of multimedia information. The phonological loop would maintain verbal information, the visuo-spatial sketchpad would maintain pictorial information. Both sub-systems would maintain transitory mental representations which integrate verbal and pictorial information. Overall, the results underlined the influence of individual differences in verbal span and spatial span on the cognitive integration of multimedia information. Ergonomic reccomendations aiming a best adaptation of multimedia products tothe cognitive characteristics of individuals are proposed

Full textWe formalize in this thesis a position of counselling psychology called by the neologism "consultatio", as a position of the third that is a specific position for a work and organizational psychologist. We study it by the activity of the analysis of the request, more associated with an heuristic for the iterative study and change of organizations than with a preliminary stage of the consultancy activity in human resources, breaking with with all linear way of thinking. We argue for consultancy activities taking the context and the process into account and need for that specific concepts that integrate the inner complexity and uncertainty in organizations. Our constructivist approaches decipher the major idiosyncratic treats of the organizations. We discover them by the use to an own semiotic discourse of the organization, whose members are the media, mostly without knowing it. To get through this discourse we present a methodology based on the analysis of clues on the organization and called the analysis of the critical events. Concepts built on the situation epistemology of the uncertainty and methodology of the occuring events are the basics for a potential clinics of the organization

Full textUsing the concepts of "container" (w. R. Bion) and of "psychological shroud" (d. Anzieu), and from the research about creation introduced by S. Freud, D. W. Winnicott, M. De M'Uzan and D. Anzieu, we have explored the dynamic of the articulation : narcissism - writing - thought. This thesis questions the possibility for the writer to transform sensory images into parts of a representation of himself, and to accede like this to the conception of a protective unity. We have applied these theoretic means in analysing some representations explained by some writers who try to understand the literary creation process. Then we have observed the phenomenon which are mobilized during a writing session inside a psychiatric hospital. The results of our researches highlight that the creative thought stays on the inmost bodily experience. They set the place of the other's desire for engaging this process. We can see how the style's work and the research of a manner of writing like no one else constitute a paradoxal defence. It reveals the writer's identity (by what insists and shows) and it wears the mask of technicity at the same time. We note how the self-flawes and abilities appear into a text which are writer by psychiatric hospital's patient as well as in a famous writer. So, we grasp the potential supply of writing for going to get a new conscience of himself

Full textOur first part sets the relationships between the apprenticeship, the action and the explanation studied in a context of qualifying training. Ou aim has been to assess, from the point of view of development, hom apprentices conceptualize the knowledge subtending their professional scheme and develop a metacognitive activity into a dual relationship freeing itself from the supervision characterizing it. The concept of scheme, the theory of awarevess by j. Piaget, the works studying the relationships between cognition and verbalization, the studies on the mental image and the mental models, the reference of Bruner are our theoretical contex from october to june, we analysed the changes affecting verbalizations and graphic representations. The methodology is characterized by : a) situations of interviews before and after the making of an object in metal in the workshop b) the technique of interview focused on the descriptive elements of the situation, the actions and the object. C) The solution of the graphic representation d) the quantification, at the heart of the interaction subject - experimenter, of items grouped into two great categories, e) the attention paid to the emergence of metacognitive activities. F) The notrice of changes affecting the graphic representations and the impact of our research on the teaching practice

Full textThis research deals with cognitive processes underlying behaviour in time-sharing situations. Two aspects are developped: tasks'coordination and cognitive control when switching from one task to the other. Three different approaches are considered to explain the information processing interferences usually observed in these situations. According to a strutural view, two tasks will interfere because they compete for common processing mechanisms or structures. According to multiple-resource theory, two tasks will interfere because of an overlapping of processing resources. According to a third view, the use of a general activation process, requiring attention, may explain processing interferences. Our hypothesis claims the existence of a control process in charge of tasks'temporal organisation and resource allocation when switching from one task to the other. The use of this control process should be facilitated under weak tasks'demands. Our experiment involved 96 subjects in a 2x2x2 between-subjects factorial design : timing requirements, tasks'complexity and proximity were manipulated. Results show an important effect of timing requirements on performance. Three different response strategies were identified which give evidence of a temporal organisation of processing. Their use is induced at once by situation demands and "spontaneous" strategies. The use of the control'process involve an increase in responce time and errors when switching from one task to the other. "typical" time-sharing errors were identified; they prove the difficulty in establishing the control'process

Full textThe break with taylorism, which leads to a company defined as participative and consensual, ios in keeping with some kind of social evolution, but simultaneously, it demands that the individuals should be sensitive to its nex system of values. Those implicit references - constituting true common languages - should be known by the workers who want to be 'promoted' or merely 'requited'. Some designations - linked to the 'economic worth of the indeividual' - could become indispensable conditions to get a job ; as such, they would constanly mingle with such social criteria as opinion, creed, ethics, but also individual rights. As regards employment, which still leads an essential role in the acquisition of identity, the company establishes norms of efficiency and performance, along with assessment procedures which are eventually prescribed to every citizen
Thomas, Delphine. "Les processus d'imagerie mentale dans la mémoire de travail et dans l'architecture des aptitudes spatiales." Tours, 2007. http://www.theses.fr/2007TOUR2021.
Full textMental imagery activity is of great interest in cognitive science. Two main theoretical lines tried to investigate this activity : models relating to the working memory and factorial models referring to the architecture of spatial abilities. However, the features of the four principal mental imagery processes (corresponding to image generation, image maintenance, image scanning, and image rotation) are not clearly established by these two categories of model. It is in this working perspective that constitutes the general problems of this thesis. For this purpose, five experiments were led. The first two experiments analyze the involvement of mental imagery activity in the workin memory. The last three experiments analyze the involvement of mental imagery acitivity in the architecture of spatial abilities. The results emphasize two major characteristics of mental imagery processes. On the one hand, passive processes are dissociated from active processes. On the other hand, during complex active processes, the storage of the visual material is also dissociated from the mental manipulation. These two characteristics, exploited through the notion of cognitive resources, fit into the functional model of the working memory (Vecchi et al. , 2001) and play a fundamental role in the hierarchical structure of the factorial model of spatial abilities

A first series of studies aimed to specify the causal links between the BJW and internality and study its normalization character through legislative and self-presentation paradigms. More studies were undertaken so as to assess the impact of the Belief in a Just World on professional injustice where it was elaborate answers in terms of passive strategies and active. The results show that 1) passivity is valued and the higher the extent of the Belief is, the higher passivity can be. As far as the behaviour of any individual who is part of an organisational and hierarchical system is taken into account where he is not calling in question again this system, i. E. To be allegiant, we can assume that he gets what he deserves and deserves what he gets. Reactions to professional injustice vary according to the degree of Allegiance. Three studies aimed at testing, on the one hand, the validity of a scale of Allegiance by listing the reasons why people are allegiant or not, and at studying, on the other hand, its normalization with workers and unemployed people as well as recruiters 'via' the legislative and self-presentation paradigms. A last series of studies allowed us to analyse the effect of Allegiance confronted to professional injustice, which again acknowledged the valorisation of passivity according to the degree of Allegiance
Wears, Robert L. "Exploring the Dynamics of Resilient Performance." Paris, ENMP, 2011. http://www.theses.fr/2011ENMP0059.
Full textA recurring theme in studies of resilience is the need for new methods of representing system properties that focus on dynamic rather than static qualities. The goal of this thesis is to develop models that support insight into the dynamics of how resilient systems (and the people in them) manage unstable situations. It focuses on a specific but common challenge (overload), and on the strategies used to cope with it; particularly, a specific strategy, temporary stopping, in order to recover margin for maneuver. The thesis begins by an explication of the motivating case study of unexampled overload in a hospital emergency department, leading to an unprecedented system collapse. It then analyses similar cases from different settings to argue that there are isomorphisms in strategies and adaptations across levels and across domains. Finally, it develops a system dynamics model of a general work system under overload, and uses it to explore the origins of the overload crisis, and the utility of the temporary stopping strategy in managing it. It shows that a leading indicator of an impending crisis is the failure to recover fully during normally slow periods. It also shows that stopping is a potentially risky strategy, and that it is easy for actors to learn the wrong lessons from their experiences. These results can inform practical ways of anticipating and mitigating the consequences of overload in hospital settings and elsewhere
