Abstract:
Ordinal variables, although extremely common in psychology, are almost exclusively analyzed with statistical models that falsely assume them to be metric. This practice can lead to distorted effect-size estimates, inflated error rates, and other problems. We argue for the application of ordinal models that make appropriate assumptions about the variables under study. In this Tutorial, we first explain the three major classes of ordinal models: the cumulative, sequential, and adjacent-category models. We then show how to fit ordinal models in a fully Bayesian framework with the R package brms,

This article explores Hypnotic Regression Therapy (HRT) as a therapeutic modality that leverages Altered States of Consciousness (ASC) to enhance individuals’ sense of well-being and personal transformation. Using a mixed-methods phenomenological approach, the study investigates the lived experiences of participants who underwent HRT sessions, focusing on their motivations, session dynamics, and outcomes. HRT integrates principles from transpersonal psychology and hypnotherapy to access subconscious material, often revealing symbolic, episodic, or archetypal content.Key findings highligh

The authors present the advantages possessed by QR compared with ordinary least square (OLS) for the regression analysis approach. The QR’s main advantage than OLS is the information concerning the effects of the independent variables on the dependent variable at a location other than the mean. QR can also provide information regarding the effect of independent variables on the distribution and skewness of the dependent variable. Another QR’s advantage is associated with the robustness

Abstract The research aim is to predict popular psychology based on perfectionism, cognitive style, and emotional schema. The population of the study included men, and women aged 20 to 60 living in the city. According to Krejcie & Morgan’s table, 383 people were selected using a non-proportional stratified random sampling method. To collect data, a popular psychology questionnaire, Hill’s perfectionism questionnaire, Leahy’s emotional schema questionnaire, and Witkin’s cognitive style test were employed. The results showed that there was a significant and positive impact of perfectionism (

<p> This thesis is a heuristic, hermeneutic investigation into regression using the author's experience as a case study. Regressive play and the desire for deeper regression within the analytic container are explored, guided by the question: What is the experience of following one's impulse to regress to more and more primordial states, and what kind of psychological container is needed to facilitate that deepening both inter- and intrapersonally? It is also known that the effective use of humor (McGhee, 2010a) and mindfulness practices (Hayes, 2005) can be learned, practiced, and integrated into daily interactions across the lifespan. A simulated test of 25 items was generated, of which the 25th item contained nonuniform DIF. The degree of nonuniform DIF in the 25th item was varied in four ways. Item scores were generated using Muraki's generalized partial credit model and the data were artificially dichotomized in three different ways for the logistic regression procedure. Two categories of analytical formulae were identified: estimators of the population squared multiple correlation coefficient (ρ2), and estimators of the population cross-validity coefficient (ρc2). To avoid possible confounding factors that might be associated with a real data set such as data nonnormality, lack of precise population parameters, different degrees of multicollinearity among the predictor variables, and so forth, the Monte Carlo method was use
