Bajrić, Samir. "Les parties du discours : psychomécanique du langage et syntaxe structurale." Paris 4, 1996. http://www.theses.fr/1996PA040247.
Full textThe author deals with the theory of parts of speech in Lucien Tesniere's structural syntax and Gustave Guillaume's psychomechanics of language. First he examines the history of linguistic views concerning word classifications, then he presents the notion of different morphological and syntactic unities, before coming to a conclusion about the nature and functioning of each word class. The author tries to find an answer to the problem of Tesniere's so-called empty and full words within the context of comparative linguistics : roman, germanic and slavonic languages. In such an approach, he relies on Guillaume's predicative theory and observes that a common conception of these two theories makes way for a semantic-syntactic analysis of parts of speech : the interjection is defined as a phrase ; the article is independent only when it is not in use ; pronouns are treated as full semi-predicative words ; the preposition and the conjunction have a very weak semantic content, etc. At the core of this analysis lies the spatiotemporal opposition, which corresponds linguistically to nouns and verbs. The noun as subject and the verb form both syntactically and semantically an indivisible universe on which every other word class depends, directly or not. Finally the analysis intends to put forward a spatiotemporal definition of Tesniere's actants

Full textThis study aims to evaluate the interest of a guillaumienne approach of language deficits, especially of aphasia. The philosophical context is inspired by Merleau-Ponty's phenomenology. The first volume presents the three fields concerned: principals of “psychomécanique du langage”, neuropsychology of aphasia, phenomenology of language. The second volume is devoted to anarthry problem. Merleau-Ponty states that meaning is necessarily related top words, that meaning is immanent to words. It follows that genuine linguistic deficits can't be restricted to verbal articulation. Merleau-Ponty's opinion is argued from a linguistic point of view : meaning immanency to words can be supported through non-arbitrariness thesis, which is itself related ot iconicity of sign. Iconicity is studied successively through semiological point of view, through phonetic symbolism’s point of view and through a study of sign's motivation in Guillaume's theory. Then, it is stated from current neurolinguistics that aphasics don't present isolated phonetic level's deficits, but rather on several levels. The conclusion opens on a perspective of a radical criticism of the concept of anarthria, and on that of a criticism of cognitivist approach of aphasia. In the end, the author gives a guillaumienne version of Broca's aphasia, in the frame of theoretical neurolinguistics

Full textThis thesis deals with anaphoric pronouns in modern english and classical arabic. It emphasizes reference assignation for pronominal anaphora when a strictly linguistic approach does not seem sufficient. We have proceeded in this analysis through agreement non agreement, endophora exophora diachotomies. These latters, applied to english and arabic, allowed us to conclude, firstly that grammatical ageement can not be considered in itself as a sufficient criteria to identify the relevant antecedent and that the control of pronoun is not only linguistic but also pragmatic. Secondly, in exophoric cases, the personnal pronoun can be justified either in the situation (a-memorial) or in the past of memory (memorial). Nevertheless, we consider that anaphora is basically memorial, because, even if the referent is absent from the text, it is checked by the hearer memorically

Full textThis is a linguistic study of the deictic system in contemporary English and standart Arabic in an enunciative psychomecanic conceptual framework (thus following the writings of Gustave Guillaume and André Joly). We have shown that sense and reference of the deictic items are not dependent of the exophoric operation. The analysis of these (this, that, here and there), implies that these deictics have a secondary status, they show that they have other meanings, we talk about the meaning effects. The enunciative psychomecanic approach shows that each deictic is attached to a core-value that can be used in a variety of textual ways by the speaker. In our study, we have mentioned how the deictic share a common central definition that we give the name of "operators"

Full textThe aim of this thesis is the study of the relative pronouns system in English. Its first part deals with the relative pronouns, from the point of view of traditional grammar, structural and transformational ones. Then, the basis of the analysis used was exposed in the second chapter. The last part presents the study of the relative pronouns: wh-ever, wh (o) (ich) (at), that and but, at the tongue level, in which one value is found, as well as at the discourse level, in which the surface and various uses of each pronoun are related to its unique value

Full textHe thesis focuses on a sample of written messages drawn from the daily environment. In the general framework of the relationship between language and power, the thesis consists in the analysis of written messages broadcast in daily life. The research is based on the collection of messages found on various media, including advertising displays. The thesis begins with the reception and use of the notions of newspeak and wooden tongue in their historical and contemporary context in order to show the topicality of linguistic and sociological questions about the relationship between language and power. The study of these two notions, through the linguistic and epistemological issues they involve, offers theoretical perspectives at two levels: that of the necessary relationship between the talking subject and the surrounding reality; that of the broader linguistic ideologies which aim at the advent of a perfect and universal language: that of a new man. The sample of written messages established in the framework of the thesis leads to a method of lexical and conceptual analysis so as to identify the vision of the world at work in this type of speech, necessarily intrusive
