Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to explore and understand various meanings of female college students’ counseling and psychotherapy experiences. In-depth interviews were conducted with 7 female college students aged 20-24 at A University in Seoul, and as a result of data analysis, a total of 5 themes and 14 sub-themes were derived. The conclusions based on the research results are as follows. First, participants felt burdened and dissatisfied in the early stages of counseling and psychotherapy, but as they began to understand the counseling and psychotherapy process and counselors, they experienced changes, accepting their inner self. Second, participants expanded perception and gained confidence in themselves in the course of counseling and psychotherapy, and mentioned that various media and counselors were significant factors to promote change. Third, the participants showed a desire for counseling and psychotherapy to build solidarity and feel empathy with the unique experience they had as female college students. Fourth, participants were actively using counseling and psychotherapy services offered at student counseling centers in the university, but said there was room for improvement for the counseling structure, showing the need of continuous counseling services. This study is meaningful in that it explored the experience of female college students in counseling and psychotherapy and discussed ways to address practical needs.

Abstract:
Contrary to current belief among many philosophers, I attempt to show that philosophical counseling is a form of psychotherapy that is in need of structure and guidance in order for it to prosper as a viable approach to mental health treatment. Methodological approaches are examined including dialectical, solution-oriented, and long-term considerations that comprise the nature of meaning analysis and procedural inquiry. If philosophical counseling is to gain recognition among the helping professions, it will need to embrace a philo-psychological paradigm of theory and practice that emphasizes philosophical eclecicism.

Abstract:
The article analyses F.Ye. Vasilyuk’s contribution to the development of psychological counseling/ psychotherapy practices in Russia and to the formation of counseling psychology as a scientific discipline. Basing on his works on the ‘situational-historical analysis’ of the development of Russian psychology from the 1990s to the present, the article outlines the stages in the development of psychological research and practice and the corresponding tasks that were in the focus of F.Ye. Vasilyuk’s attention. The status of counseling/psychotherapy practice and its key characteristics in relation to fundamental and applied psy¬chology are analyzed in detail. The essential characteristic of counseling practice and psychology according to F.E. Vasilyuk is ‘keeping in mind’ the holistic image of an individual as both an epistemological and axi¬ological, ethical ideal. The psychotechnical implementation of such vision is illustrated by the example of the psychotherapeutic system of co-experiencing psychotherapy. In the final part the article discusses the formation of psychological counseling/psychotherapy as an anthropological practice and the problem of ‘general’ therapeutic knowledge.

Abstract:
This article revisits the criteria outlined for definition of "paradigms" of counseling and psychotherapy. It defines the emergence of social constructivism as a philosophy with implications for counseling and psychotherapy. It delimits social constructivism by proposing several social constructivist tenets. Social constructivism is assessed against paradigm criteria, and an opinion is offered as to whether social constructivism represents a paradigm of counseling and psychotherapy. Implications of the paradigm analysis for the practice of mental health counseling are outlined.

Abstract:
Understanding early recollections opens the door to multiple therapeutic interventions. While Adlerians typically use them at the end of a lifestyle assessment to highlight meaning, early recollections can also be used to interrupt emotional reactivity, address trauma, change one’s relationship with anxiety and depression, and re-orient lives toward increased social interest, to name a few. Consultations with participants are emphasized.

Abstract:
Adlerian Brief Therapy is a specific approach to Individual Psychology that uses relational strategies to bring about effective change in the lives of individuals, groups, couples, and families (Bitter, Christensen, Hawes, & Nicoll, 1998; Sonstegard, Bitter, Pelonis-Peneros, & Nicoll, 2001). In this article, the authors discuss a relationship- intervention continuum as an integration of two approaches. A therapy session demonstrating Adlerian Brief Therapy with individuals is used to highlight the integration.

Abstract:
Rationale. According to ‘sudden gains’ and ‘rapid response’ methods, considerable numbers of patients experience large robust reductions in depression in early sessions across a range of psychotherapeutic modalities. Yet, surprisingly few researchers have investigated the processes that might help explain this phenomenon.Aims. Accordingly, the aims of this thesis were threefold: 1) To replicate previous findings of a rapid response to psychotherapy, 2) To investigate the role of empirically supported pre-existing interpersonal patient factors, 3) To examine systematically the therapeutic processes that characterise both rapid and gradual response profiles.Methods. Sixty-two adults received 16 weekly sessions of supportive-expressive dynamic psychotherapy (Luborsky et al., 1995). A rapid response was defined as a reduction of at least 50% of patients’ intake Beck Depression Inventory score by Week 6. Following a comparison between rapid and gradually responding patients’ attachment and interpersonal patterns, 20 (10 rapid-, 10 gradual-responders’) early therapy sessions (session 3) were rated with the Psychotherapy Process Q-Set (PQS; Jones, 2000). The PQS is a pan-theoretical method of systematically characterising therapist-patient interactions that provides a meaningful index of process that can be used in comparative analyses.Results. Over one third of patients (23/62) experienced a rapid response, by Session 6. This accounted for an average 96% of their entire symptom reductions. Rapid responders were more than twice as likely to recover by Session 16, and were significantly less depressed at 52 week follow-up, after adjusting for intake symptom levels. Rapid responders also presented with fewer interpersonal problems. On the other hand, pre-therapy characteristics of gradually responding patients included having lower interpersonal mastery, a more domineering interpersonal style, and greater social isolation and attachment fears concerning intimacy. The interpersonal differences between rapid and gradually responding patients were reflected in differences in psychotherapy processes. Despite equivalent ratings of observer-rated working alliance, results from the PQS suggested that as early as Session 3, rapid responders were at a more advanced stage of therapy, characterized by a willingness to work on strong emotions such as guilt. In contrast, gradual responders’ sessions were dominated by externalising, hostility, and defensiveness.Conclusion. Pre-existing interpersonal patient factors determine the speed of recovery in psychotherapy through their differential effects on therapeutic process.

Farley, Patrick N. "Current Practices in General Hospital Group Psychotherapy." Diss., Virginia Tech, 1998. http://hdl.handle.net/10919/30406.

Full text
Abstract:
The purpose of this survey study was to evaluate the current practice of inpatient group therapy in general hospital psychiatric units in a southeastern state and to determine whether there was a need for a more systematic method of designing, implementing, and evaluating general hospital group therapy. A second major purpose was to test a model to determine if it could be used to evaluate current practices of general hospital psychiatric group therapy on a more global basis. The history of group therapy and current nationwide statistical data relating to general hospital psychiatric units were summarized. A survey which addressed unit operations, unit staffing patterns, types of patients, and general practices regarding psychiatric unit group therapy was administered to 35 general hospital psychiatric unit administrators in a southeastern state. A standard interview protocol was developed and administered on-site to six group therapy practitioners. These interviews gathered information relative to specific unit group therapy practices, evaluated whether Group Pentagon components were utilized in group therapy practices, and identified factors influencing unit group therapy practice. An analysis of the available literature indicated there was little information relative to the practice of group therapy on general hospital psychiatric units. The literature analysis also revealed no consistent model or procedures for the design, implementation, and evaluation of group therapy in general hospital psychiatric units. The survey and interviews demonstrated that group therapy programs appeared fragmented, varied across units, and did not appear to be designed, implemented, or evaluated in a consistent manner. During the interviews, the practitioners described the lack of many of the conditions necessary for the provision of effective group therapy on their general hospital psychiatric units. The literature review analysis, survey, and interviews indicated the components of the Group Pentagon were not utilized in general hospital group therapy programs. The Group Pentagon provided a useful model for evaluating overall group therapy programs, as well as reviewing specific group therapy procedures. Finally, this research established a protocol for evaluating general hospital and potentially other group therapy practices.

Abstract:
The article reveals the concept of crisis psychology and the profession of a crisis psychologist. The types of traumas with which the crisis psychologist works, techniques and algorithm of work are considered. Particular attention is paid to the algorithm for dealing with post-traumatic stress events due to the prevailing political events. Emergencies are becoming more and more widespread in modern socio-political conditions. Increasingly, adults and children find themselves in conditions of man-made disasters, natural disasters, are subjected to violence, become hostages and victims of terrorist attacks. This largely explains the interest in the psychology of extreme situations, which is steadily growing in the modern world among politicians, sociologists, philosophers and practicing psychologists. In addition, we can say that there is not a single person who would not live through periods of crisis. The emergence of crises is due to both the laws of human mental development and various life events. For psychologists, the main thing is to observe those changes – both negative and positive – that occur to a person experiencing a crisis or extreme event, dividing his life into «before» and «after».

Abstract:
Counseling focuses on aspects of self-knowledge and the optimal development of one’s own resources. It is especially addressed to healthy people in difficulty or to those who want to improve their relationships with others. The counselor helps the client to control a crisis situation and assists him in finding a solution to the problem he is facing. It usually involves fewer sessions than psychotherapy and addresses less severe disorders. Counseling is informative and focuses on the development of practical or personal skills. Counseling aims at self-knowledge, optimization and personal development and effective adaptation of the client to the external environment with the help of counselling. Counselors are psychologists specialized in counseling who intervene through typical means in order to optimize and stimulate self-knowledge and personal development, to prevent some emotional and cognitive and behavioral problems.

Abstract:

Abstract:
To advise is to provide the student the opportunity to explore, discover and to clarify the best ways to live his own life, to have a happy existence. Initially, the scope of the councilors has been identified as a reduced one compared to psychotherapy, then the purpose of the two activities to dissociate from a theoretical point of view. Between the two terms there is a significant difference: counseling is a proactive action, while psychotherapy is a postfactum intervention (remedial action, the therapy). Guidance and counselling means all actions performed by optional advisory and training methods, the general and special conditions, subordinated to, from the point of view of the Content, Size of process-orientated technology/education, and from the perspective of the activity of psycho-pedagogical assistance methodological and social teachers, students and parents, designed at the level of the education system, with a view to the correct academic and career options. We expect that in the not too distant future, together with the adjustment of the legal framework concerning the advice, to be completed and such professional code, as a sign that the profession has moved beyond the Advisor to the time of interim and won a tight space defined in the professional Romanian.

Abstract:
Psychotherapists are part of a large community of supportive professions - their work, learning and constant acquisition of new competencies are aimed at providing such assistance through direct contact with people who need psychosocial help. This profession consists more of listening than counseling, although there are situations in which counseling in psychotherapy is desirable. aimed directly at establishing physical well-being. The psychotherapeutic profession, by entering the so-called the "covid regime" of life from more than a year ago, showed us how much it is really needed both as a profession and as a group of professionals, who, although they come primarily from various other professions, have chosen to help people and more over , in the most subtle part - helping the soul. In this paper, we present the basics of psychotherapeutic ethics, necessary for the provision of a specific type of service: psychotherapeutic work, based more on the ethical codes of transactional analysts, to which the author of this paper belongs.

Abstract:
Revolution takes place in psychodiagnostics, psychotherapy and psychological counseling, caused by an anthropological turn nowadays. In a practical way, the anthropological turn is connected with the practice of introducing ethnographic, folklore, historical-archaeological and archival materials into psychology, pedagogy, psychotherapy as a stage of further development of transcultural and multidisciplinary approaches with access to the creation of new practical tools. Techniques that allow to harmonize different modes of human existence are especially valuable in the light of the anthropological turn. Lawrence K. Frank proposed the term «projective techniques» for the designation psychological techniques designed to raise and integrate the material of the unconscious (individual and collective). Metaphorical associative cards (projective cards) are a special genre of psychotherapy and psychological counseling developed in line with anthropological psychotherapy and based on the principles and postulates of projective techniques. The Metaphorical relationship cards «Dolls-archetypes» technique was developed in line with the method of positive dynamic psychotherapy, in the Russian tradition of mantic cards and includes 42 maps depicting specially selected folk rag dolls in the outline of the theory of structural archetypes. The set of Metaphorical relationship cards «Dolls-archetypes» includes: 42 cards and a methodological guide, which includes sections: 1. MACs – metaphorical associative (projective) cards; 2. MACs – deck «Dolls-archetypes»; 3. Structural archetypes; 4. MACs – description of individual cards; 5. MACs – description of 6 card rows – 7 variants of fate, individuation depending on the leading structural archetype: Dolya, Volya, Lada, Ivan, Shaman, 2 variants Counterinitiation; 6. MACs – methods of application.
