Abstract:
Palpebral ptosis, whether congenital or acquired, may have an important impact on the wellbeing of the patient regarding the functional and aesthetic aspects. In order to plan a reasonable treatment, the function of levator palpebrae superios muscles is appreciated using standard measurements. The treatment of choice remains to be the resection of levator muscle, which in most of the cases is associated with classic Open-Sky superior blepharoplasty. The aim of this article is to present this method of treatment in mild superior palpebral ptosis.

Abstract Fatigue is a common symptom and is very often not caused by a neuromuscular disease. However, some neuromuscular disorders such as myasthenia gravis are notoriously recognized by causing undue fatigue of different muscles. Examination of fatigability of anti-gravity muscle is an important part of neurological examination. Typically, fatigue worsens with activity and improves with rest. Fatigability of the levator palpebral superioris causes ptosis and fatigability of the extraocular muscles causes diplopia. Normal physiologic mechanisms of the upper eyelid are essential for preservation of the eye. Normal function and good cosmesis usually go hand in hand, but preservation of function is the more important of the two priorities. Structural support of the tarsal plate 3. A smooth, nonabrasive lid margin 4. Normal vertical eyelid movement without ptosis or lagophthalmos 5.
