This paper is dedicated to the environmental protection according to the rules of Roman law. Combining Roman and environmental law may seem controversial, since the latter is regulated by the means of public law, and on the contrary, Roman ​​private law is not suitable for systematic environmental protection. Hence, the protection of environment was neither a main issue of Roman politics nor Roman law. When Hurricane Harvey hit the Texas coast as a category 4 hurricane on August 25, 2017, it resulted in $125 billion in damage, rivaling only Hurricane Katrina in the amount of damage caused.
