First, CSR is unnecessary – good ethics is synonymous with good business. Second, CSR is unethical as the government is responsible for intervention in markets. In nations like the United States, advocates on both sides of the debate have actively worked to amplify their voices and change legislation. Mohebbi, Mehri, Sumita Raghuram, and Ahoura Zandiatashbar. Pathway to Promote Diversity within Public Transit Workforce. Mineta Transportation Institute, 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.31979/mti.2022.2135.

Abstract:
There are many aspects of the transportation industry that can be focused on, but the lack of resiliency is one of the most urgent. Enhancing resiliency and creative problem-solving is essential to the industry’s growth and survival. But it cannot happen without building a more diverse workforce. Women still make up a small fraction of transportation workers, and African American and Hispanic employees are even less represented. These disparities are increasingly pronounced in many senior positions, particularly in STEM fields. Meanwhile, the public transportation industry is experiencing a se

Arzheimer, Kai. To Russia with love? German populist actors’ positions vis-a-vis the Kremlin. European Center for Populism Studies (ECPS), 2003. http://dx.doi.org/10.55271/rp0020.

Full text
Abstract:
Russia’s attack on Ukraine and its many international and national repercussions have helped to revive the fortunes of Germany’s main radical right-wing populist party, the “Alternative for Germany” (AfD). Worries about the threats posed to Germany’s traditional export-led industries by spiking energy prices, the country’s historical anxieties over becoming involved in armed conflict in Europe, and hundreds of thousands of refugees arriving in Germany seem to have contributed to a modest rise in the AfD’s poll numbers after a long period of stagnation. However, the situation is more complicate

Disagreement among populists in the Netherlands: The diverging rhetorical and policy positions of Dutch populist Radical Right parties following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. European Center for Populism Studies (ECPS), 2023. http://dx.doi.org/10.55271/rp0032.

Full text
Abstract:
The Netherlands boasts a wide array of populist Radical Right parties, from the Freedom Party (PVV) and Forum for Democracy (FvD) to Correct Alternative 2021 (JA21). To complicate matters further, the left-wing Socialist Party (SP) is also considered a populist party. Mirroring the diversity of responses to the Russian invasion of Ukraine in the rest of Europe, Dutch populist parties have reacted in myriad ways. Whereas the PVV condemned the Russian invasion, the FvD remained highly supportive of Putin. Interestingly, while many European populist Radical Right leaders, following public opinion

Okwundu, Charles I., and Charles Shey Wiysonge. Which interventions improve the management of dual practice? SUPPORT, 2016. http://dx.doi.org/10.30846/160811.

Full text
Abstract:
Dual practice in the healthcare setting refers to the holding of more than one job, in unrelated health facilities, by a health professional. In many low-income countries, low pay and difficult working conditions lead many health professionals in the public sector to add to their income by taking on private patients who pay for the services that they receive. Dual practice has both negative and positive consequences and there are concerns that its negative impacts may exceed the positive ones. By allowing public sector workers to supplement their income, it may be easier for the public health

van Haute, Emilie. Populist Radical Parties in Belgium and the 2024 European Elections. European Center for Populism Studies (ECPS), 2024. http://dx.doi.org/10.55271/rp0062.

Full text
Abstract:
In 2024 elections in Belgium were concurrently held for the European, federal and regional levels. For that reason, the European elections were clearly second-order elections. As the main opposition parties at the federal level, populist radical parties of the right (Vlaams Belang, VB) and the left (the Workers’ Party of Belgium, PTB–PVDA) approached the 2024 elections in a strong position. They were portrayed as clear favourites in the polls and the media. From 2019 to 2024 they managed to set the agenda on their issues: migration and law and order for the VB, socioeconomic issues and civil l

Full text
Abstract:
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has profoundly impacted Latvia’s politics, economy and society. It also moved Latvia’s political centre to the right and mainstreamed many of the core policy positions of the dominant Radical Right National Alliance (NA), such as squeezing the Russian language from the public sphere, dismantling the publicly-funded Russian-language school system, and demolishing Soviet-era monuments. This policy shift has been made possible by the NA’s gradual political mainstreaming over the last decade (it has been in a governing coalition since 2011) and long-standing opposition
