Abstract:
Ground state energies and other properties of 2S shell for some atoms as Be(Z=4), B(Z=5), C(Z=6) and N(Z=7) were calculated by using Hartree-Fock wave function. We found the values of potential energies in hartree unit (3.8369, 6.78565, 10.18852 and 14.41089) respectively and the other proprieties like expectation values of the position < r1m > were in agreement with the published results. All the studied atomic properties were normalized.

AbstractWe present results from our investigation of galaxy evolution in dense cluster environments up to redshift z=1.3 based on high S/N ground-based spectroscopy and HST imaging of bulge-dominated galaxies: (1) An analysis of sizes, M/L ratios and line indices of galaxies in massive clusters out to z=1.3. The results are published in Jørgensen & Chiboucas (2013) and Jørgensen et al. (2014). (2) A preliminary analysis (Fig. 1) of absorption line indices, ages, metallicities and abundance ratios for galaxies in nine massive clusters out to z=0.9. New data cover three clusters at z=0.2-0.5.

The article examines the history of M. Gorky’s obscure project "One Hundred Best Russian Books", which was to be published at the Publishing House of Z. I. Grzhebin. Blok, N. Gumilev, K. Chukovsky, E. Zamyatin, Ivanov-Razumnik, N. O. Lerner contributed to the project. Block saw it as a chance to summarize the development of the pre-revolutionary Russian literature. The article details Blok’s approach to making the list of one hundred best Russian books; preparatory materials reflecting Block’s guiding principles are also published. The Appendix contains the list of 250 books compiled by Blok at Gorky’s request.

AbstractA simple parameterization is presented for the elastic electron scattering cross sections from single atoms into the annular dark-field (ADF) detector of a scanning transmission electron microscope (STEM). The dependence on atomic number, Z, and inner reciprocal radius of the annular detector, q0, of the cross section σ(Z,q0) is expressed by the empirical relationwhere A(q0) is the cross section for hydrogen (Z = 1), and the detector is assumed to have a large outer reciprocal radius. Using electron elastic scattering factors determined from relativistic Hartree-Fock simulations of the atomic electron charge density, values of the exponent n(Z,q0) are tabulated as a function of Z and q0, for STEM probe sizes of 1.0 and 2.0 Å.Comparison with recently published experimental data for single-atom scattering [Krivanek et al. (2010). Nature464, 571–574] suggests that experimentally measured exponent values are systematically lower than the values predicted for elastic scattering from low-Z atoms. It is proposed that this discrepancy arises from the inelastic scattering contribution to the ADF signal. A simple expression is proposed that corrects the exponent n(Z,q0) for inelastic scattering into the annular detector.

A new Z = 8, Z′ = 2 polymorph of 4-oxo-4-phenylbutanoic (β-benzoylpropionic) acid, C10H10O3, was obtained. The previously published two polymorphs with CCDC codes VERMAG and VERMAG01 crystallize with Z = 4, Z′ = 1 in monoclinic space groups P21/c [a = 15.071(10), b = 5.435(9), c = 16.058(10), β = 129.57(10)°] and P21/n [a = 12.728(6), b = 5.200(3), c = 14.426(6), β = 111.33(3)°], respectively. Reported herein, polymorph crystallizes in monoclinic space group P21/c and has significant larger cell volume of 1754.51 Å3 [a = 15.2673(6), b = 5.2028(2), c = 22.3063(8), β = 98.0217(7)°]. Structurally, new polymorph differs from two known other slightly (RMSD of about 0.112–0.183 Å). All polymorphs contain dimers of molecules bounded by intermolecular hydrogen bonds leaving carbonyl groups at Position 4 unaffected.

Abstract A taxonomic and nomenclatural history of the moss genus Pterogonium Sw. is outlined and the illegitimacy of this name is confirmed. Nogopterium Crosby & W. R. Buck, the name of a new genus erected to replace the illegitimate Pterogonium, is accepted as validly published. This genus consists of five species, two of which, N. coreense (Cardot) Tad. Suzuki and N. tenellum (Tad. Suzuki & Z. Iwats.) Tad. Suzuki, have only recently been transferred to this genus. The transfer of the fifth species, N. tsilingense (P. C. Chen) Tad. Suzuki ex Ochyra & Bedn.-Ochyra, comb. nov., is effected in the present account.

PAGE IN THE HISTORY OF RUSSIAN SCIENCE OF CRIMINAL LAW THE COURSE-BOOK ON CRIMINAL LAW BY WŁODZIMIERZ SPASOWICZ (1829-1906)Summary Włodzimierz Spasowicz (1829-1906) was a Pole from Belarus. He had many different professions; he was a journalist, a publisher, a profesor and an attorney. In 1863 he published first modern course-book on criminal law in the history of Russia (Petersburg). On its basis, on the 22nd of December 1863, he got his PhD degree. In Petersburg liberal circles Spasowicz’s course-book received a positive review. The author’s aversion towards treating criminal law as a tool of deterring people, was underlined. Moreover, he demanded suppression of capital punishment and confiscation of property. However, the authorities of tsarist Russia led to the withdrawal of the course-book from the list of didactic aids and deprived Spasowicz of the right to give lectures at Russian universities (1864). The publication of criminal law course-book by Spasowicz meant progress in the development of Russian criminal law. Its role was underlined by such „great” professors of criminal law as N. Tagancew and I. Fojnicki.

Abstract Abstract 4237 Background: Median age at diagnosis for CML is 64 years of age. CML survival in elderly population is not well studied. This study was conducted to evaluate the relative survival rates among CML patients older than 50 years in pre- (1991–2000) and post- (2001– 2009) imatinib era. Methods: We analyzed the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER*Stat) 18 registry database to compare 3-year and 5-year relative survival rates among CML patients by gender and age groups (50–69, ≥70) from the pre- (1991–2000) to post- imatinib eras (2001–2009). We used Z-test in the SEER*Stat program to calculate the differences in relative survival rates among different cohorts. Results: The 3-year and 5-year relative survival rates for CML patients age ≥50 years in pre- (n=3,848) vs post- (n=6,501) imatinib era were: 44.1±0.9% vs 55.9±0.8%, p=<0.0001, Z-value=10.179 at 3-years and 31.4±0.9% vs 46.9±0.9%, p=<0.0001, Z-value=12.361 at 5-years. The 3-year and 5-year relative survival rates for old (50–69) patients in pre- (n=1,723) vs post- (n=3011) imatinib era were: 57.7 ± 1.2% vs 72.3 ±1.0%, p=<0.0001, Z-value=9.454 at 3 years and 44.8±1.3% vs 64.3±1.2%, P=<0.0001, Z-value= 11.365 at 5 years. The survival rates for elderly (≥70) patients in pre (n= 2,125) and post (n=3,490) imatinib era were: 32.4±1.2% and 41.3±1.1%, p=<0.0001, Z-value=5.806 at 3 years and 19.3±1.1% and 31.2±1.2%, P=<0.0001, Z-value=7.135 at 5 years respectively. Table 1 shows CML survival rates by age and sex in patients older than 50 years of age. Conclusions: This study showed significant increase in 3 year and 5 year relative survival rates in post- imatinib era among CML patients older than 50 in all cohorts examined. However, the improvement in survival rates is modest compared to published data from randomized clinical trials. Disclosures: No relevant conflicts of interest to declare.

OBJECTIVE: To provide a focused review of the literature related to the association between exposure to Z-drugs and the risk of falls, especially in the older population.<br/> DATA SOURCES: A literature search was conducted using Medline, PsychInfo, and the Cochrane Library database for all clinical trials, case series, and case reports published in English up to May 2020. The search terms used consisted of each Z-drug, including "zolpidem," "zopiclone," "eszopiclone," and "zaleplon," matched with "falls."<br/> STUDY SELECTION: The search yielded 295 studies. After review of abstracts, content and references were reviewed, and duplicates removed, a total of 9 articles met inclusion of exposure to at least 1 Z-drug and a primary outcome of falls.<br/> DATA EXTRACTION: The American Geriatrics Society 2019 Beers Criteria Update for Potentially Inappropriate Medication Use in Older Adults recommends to avoid using nonbenzodiazepine hypnotics in this patient population because of the risk of adverse events.<br/> DATA SYNTHESIS: A majority of the literature suggests an increased risk of falls with exposure to Z-drug use, especially zolpidem. Eight trials examined falls as a primary outcome in non-elderly (n=3) and elderly (n=5) patients in different settings, mostly in an inpatient setting (nursing facility or acute care hospital).<br/> CONCLUSION: Exposure to Z-drugs, especially zolpidem, should be evaluated and counseled on continuously as these medications put patients at an increased risk for falls and other complications.

Alternative explanations to the Michelson-Morley experiment exist and continue to be produced. In the current paper, we will correct a recently published paper concerning a reenactment of the famous experiment. The author of the paper in cause claims the presence of a non-null result though he did not run any experiment himself. Dmitriyev bases his paper on a paper by Demjanov that has already been retracted by the journal where he originally published (V. V. Demjanov, Phys. Lett. A 374, 1110 (2010)). Our paper is organized as follows: in the background section we will give the correct expressions for the relativistic light speed in arbitrary media as opposed to the incorrect ones given in V. P. Dmitriyev, Z. Naturforsch. 66a, 228 (2011). We will follow by explaining the correct equations of the Michelson-Morley experiment in a refractive medium with n > 1, and we will outline the errors in V. P. Dmitriyev, Z. Naturforsch. 66a, 228 (2011). The non-mainstream claims of detecting ‘absolute motion’ are refuted by both theoretical and experimental data.

Eating disorders among young children are not well characterized. Diet and growth data were collected from toddlers (1-3 years old) at the time of diagnosis of infantile anorexia (IA) and up to 1 year after family counseling. Children (n = 62) were underweight (≤ −2 z-score weight-for-age). Boys (n = 34) had a greater ( P = .04) mean (standard error) weight-for-age percentile than girls (n = 28) and less evidence of wasting ( z-score weight-for-length = −1.8 (0.14) vs −2.3 (0.17), respectively; P = .04). After counseling, girls demonstrated better linear growth than boys (4.14 (0.18) vs 3.47 (0.18) cm/6 months, respectively; P < .002). Significant catch-up in length-for-age was observed across genders and diagnoses of 1.4 (2.07) growth percentiles and 0.13 (0.05) z-scores on the normal curve in 6 months ( P = .019). Head circumference correlated with dietary protein ( r = .23, P = .03), calcium ( r = .32, P = .004), and zinc ( r = .36, P = .001). Girls met or exceeded dietary reference intakes for energy, protein, iron, zinc, vitamin A, and calcium, and boys improved intake of these nutrients ( P < .05) but boys with IA fell short of recommended energy intake. Many children with IA reached tolerable upper intake levels for zinc and vitamin A, which warrants concern. These are the first data published on diet and growth among children with IA.

Abstract Objectives Assess relationships between dietary fiber and bone density in youth with type 2 diabetes, obesity, and healthy weight. Methods Cross-sectional study of youth (56% African American, 67% female) ages 10–23 years with type 2 diabetes (n = 180), obesity (BMI >95th; n = 226), or healthy weight (BMI < 85th; n = 238). Total body bone mineral density (BMD) was assessed via DXA. BMD standard deviation scores (“Z-scores”) were computed using published reference data. Dietary fiber (total, soluble, and insoluble) and total calories were assessed via 3-day food diaries, which were analyzed using the Nutrition Data System for Research. Relationships between dietary fiber and BMD Z-score were assessed using linear regression. Separate analyses were performed for total, soluble, and insoluble fiber, and each regression model included age, sex, ancestry, total calories, group, and fiber (total, soluble, or insoluble), as well as group by fiber interactions. Results BMD Z-score was greater in the type 2 diabetes and obese compared to the healthy weight group (P < 0.001). Total, soluble, and insoluble fiber intakes were significantly greater in the healthy weight versus obese group (all P < 0.05), but only marginally greater than the type 2 diabetes group (all P = 0.06–0.10). Regression analyses demonstrated positive relationships between total, soluble, and insoluble fiber intakes and BMD Z-score (all P < 0.05). However, significant group by fiber interactions indicated that the positive relationships between dietary fiber intakes and BMD Z-score was evident only in the healthy weight group (all P < 0.005). Similar relationships were observed when considering BMD Z-score adjusted for height Z-score. Conclusions Prior studies have reported a favorable influence of dietary fiber on bone mineral accrual in healthy individuals and metabolic health in adults with insulin resistance. Dietary strategies promoting increased fiber consumption warrant investigation with respect to fracture prevention and glycemic control in youth with type 2 diabetes. Abstract Objective The purpose of this study was to apply network analyses to evaluate trends in the literature using a comprehensive search of original, peer-reviewed research articles involving human participants with sport-related concussion (SRC) published between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2019. Data Selection Articles were identified in a comprehensive online search using key terms to encompass all forms of SRC or mTBI and entered into a clustering algorithm (vosViewer). Each cluster (e.g., journal, institution, author, keyword) is named for the hub, or most highly interconnected individual node. Data Synthesis The online search yielded 6,130 articles, 528 journals, 7,598 authors, 1,966 institutions, and 3,293 keywords. The analysis supported five thematic clusters of journals: 1. Biomechanics/Sports medicine (n = 15), 2. Pediatrics/Rehabilitation (n = 15), 3. Neurotrauma/Neurology/Neurosurgery (n = 11), 4. General Sports Medicine (n = 11), 5. Neuropsychology (n = 7). The analysis identified four institutional clusters: 1. University of North Carolina (n = 19), 2. University of Toronto (n = 19), 3. University of Michigan (n = 11), 4. University of Pittsburgh (n = 10). Five primary author clusters were identified: 1. A. Kontos (n = 32), 2. G. Iverson (n = 27), 3. M. McCrea (n = 27), 4. S. Broglio (n = 25), 5. Z. Kerr (n = 16). In regards to keywords, central topics included: 1. Epidemiology (n = 14), 2. Rehabilitation (n = 12), 3. Biomechanics (n = 11), 4. Imaging (n = 10), 5. Assessment (n = 9). Conclusions The findings suggest that during the past decade SRC research has: 1) been published primarily in sports medicine, pediatric, and neuro-focused journals, 2) involved a select group of researchers from several key institutions, and 3) focused on new topic areas including treatment/rehabilitation.

Abstract Abstract 2227 Introduction: Protein Z (PZ) is a vitamin K-dependent protein. In hemostasis PZ has two functions: together with Factor Xa it forms an inhibiting complex with the PZ- dependent protease-inhibitor and it enhances binding of Thrombin to phospholipid surfaces. Therefore, low PZ levels may induce thrombosis or bleeding. The latter has been questioned by Vasse 2008 and in 1995 Kemkes-Matthes reported in 58% of patients (pts) with a bleeding history PZ deficiency as the only abnormality. Aim of the study: To evaluate if low PZ levels are associated with a bleeding tendency, we reviewed data of pts referred to or laboratory. PZ determination is part of our diagnostic work up, including whole blood count, PT, PTT, VWF/FVIII-complex, FXIII and platelet function studies. Material and Methods: Over a 1 year period we investigated PZ level in 173 pts. PZ concentration was determined by ELISA (Asserachrom Protein Z; Diagnostica Stago), a sandwich immunoassay using a mouse monoclonal antibody against PZ, normal range 1600 – 3300 μg/l, mean 2600 μg/l published by Miletich. Our normal range obtained by 62 donors 990–2490, mean 1740μg/l (+/− 2SD). PZ <1000μg/l is considered to be abnormal. Results: In 75/173 (43%) pts with a bleeding history (e.g. postoperative hemorrhage, epistaxis, menorrhagia) no coagulation abnormality was detected. In 41/98 (42%) low PZ level was the only abnormality (mean PZ 642, range 195–994). 57/98 (58%) were diagnosed with vWD n=17; platelet function disorders n=10 or ASA/drugs causing platelet dysfunction n=20, others n=10. In 21/57 (37%) low PZ level was detected additionally (mean PZ 699μg/l; range 219–949) and in the remaining 36/57 (mean PZ 1689; range 1036–2842). Conclusion: Surprisingly, in 24% of pts with a bleeding history the only abnormality was PZ deficiency. Therefore, we consider PZ determination a useful parameter in patients with a bleeding history after ruling out more common disorders. Low PZ levels may cause a coagulopathy in some pts. The new salt-like lithium ureate, LiCN2H3O, 1, was synthesized to round up the series of the recently published alkali-metal ureates. LiCN2H3O crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/n with a = 7:5770(9), b = 9:059(1), c = 13:046(2) Å, b = 98:896(2)°, V = 884:8(2)Å3, and Z = 12. The Li+ ions are coordinated by four ureate anions in a distorted tetrahedral manner. As expected, the deprotonation of the urea molecules is reflected by the shape of the anions with two different C-N bond lengths.

Gigantochloa glabrata N. H. Xia & Y. Zeng ex D. Z. Li & Z. C. Xu, sp. nov., a new species of paleotropical woody bamboo has been described and illustrated from Yunnan, China. The new species is morphologically similar to G. albociliata and G. levis, but differs from them by having erect culm sheath blades; culm sheath ligules 4–6 mm high, truncate, denticulate; and with a ring of white tomentum on the intranode and below the node. The new species was mistakenly identified as Gigantochloa albociliata in the Flora of China and was recognised with description of the vegetative characters in 2014, but it was not effectively published. Here, we designate a complete specimen with inflorescence as the type and describe it in accordance with the Code.

AbstractLeading biological hypotheses propose that biological changes may underlie major depressive disorder onset and relapse/recurrence. Here, we investigate if there is prospective evidence for biomarkers derived from leading theories. We focus on neuroimaging, gastrointestinal factors, immunology, neurotrophic factors, neurotransmitters, hormones, and oxidative stress. Searches were performed in Pubmed, Embase and PsychInfo for articles published up to 06/2019. References and citations of included articles were screened to identify additional articles. Inclusion criteria were having an MDD diagnosis as outcome, a biomarker as predictor, and prospective design search terms were formulated accordingly. PRISMA guidelines were applied. Meta-analyses were performed using a random effect model when three or more comparable studies were identified, using a random effect model. Our search resulted in 67,464 articles, of which 75 prospective articles were identified on: Neuroimaging (N = 24), Gastrointestinal factors (N = 1), Immunology (N = 8), Neurotrophic (N = 2), Neurotransmitters (N = 1), Hormones (N = 39), Oxidative stress (N = 1). Meta-analyses on brain volumes and immunology markers were not significant. Only cortisol (N = 19, OR = 1.294, p = 0.024) showed a predictive effect on onset/relapse/recurrence of MDD, but not on time until MDD onset/relapse/recurrence. However, this effect disappeared when studies including participants with a baseline clinical diagnosis were removed from the analyses. Other studies were too heterogeneous to compare. Thus, there is a lack of evidence for leading biological theories for onset and maintenance of depression. Only cortisol was identified as potential predictor for MDD, but results are influenced by the disease state. High-quality (prospective) studies on MDD are needed to disentangle the etiology and maintenance of MDD.

Grain size determines to a large degree the mechanical properties of the friction stir processed (FSP) material. Developed in this work is a numerical (FEM) based-model for predicting values of the Zener-Hollomon parameter (Z-parameter) as function of input process parameters during friction stir processing of AZ31B. Prediction of Z values is desirable given that direct relations exist between the Z-parameter and the average grain size in the dynamically recrystallized zone (DRX). For this purpose, utilized in this work is a robust finite element model with a suitable constitutive equation and boundary conditions the results of which have been previously validated against published experimental data. A virtual test matrix constituting of 16 cases (4 spindle speed, N, x 4 feed, f) was run. Based on resulting state variables of strain rates and temperatures at a representative point within the stir zone, a statistically-validated power equation model was developed that relates Z-parameter values to input parameters of speed and feed. The results of the numerically developed power equation were validated against experimental results. This model can be readily used in future control frameworks to FSP produce AZ31B sheets of a predefined target grain size.

Surveys of schooling herring with the new multibeam sonar (Simrad MS70) pose new challenges when converting the echo energy to estimates of biomass. Because the sonar projects horizontally, data and models of lateral-aspect, herring target strength (TS) are needed. In this study, the TS of herring is measured with a horizontally projecting, split-beam echosounder (Simrad EK60). Target-tracking methods are used to estimate swimming angles relative to the horizontal (θ) of individual herring within schools and layers and to evaluate how θ and TS change with depth (z). Measurements of θ and TS are used as inputs for a model describing TS as a function of θ and z. The results indicate that the mean lateral-aspect TS of in situ herring depends on z. Moreover, the mean lateral-aspect TS is more sensitive to z than the mean dorsal-aspect TS predicted by a published model. At z = 50 m, the mean lateral-aspect TS is nearly 2.5 dB higher than the mean dorsal-aspect TS. Conversely, at z = 350 m, the lateral-aspect TS is 5 dB lower. These results suggest that herring swimbladders do not compress uniformly with increasing pressure, but compress dorsoventrally more than laterally.

Abstract The melting diagram of the system 18-crown-6/water has been set up and the existence of four binary hydrates confirmed. Crystal structures have been determined for three of these, in addition to that for the hexahydrate already published. The hydrates are monoclinic, a tetrahydrate (previously reported as a 4.5-hydrate) with space group P21/c and Z = 2 formula units per unit cell, an octahydrate with I2/a and Z = 4, and a dodecahydrate with P21/n and Z= 2. In each structure the crown ether molecule has the (pseudo) D3d conformation common for many of its complexes, and is immediately hydrogen-bonded by a group of four water molecules in a similar, characteristic pattern. In the tetrahydrate, with one of the waters disordered, the total connectivity is that of a 1D chain, while the overall structures of the octa-and dodecahydrate are 3D networks. Four of the six independent water molecules in the dodecahydrate are linked with each other into a rare 2D ice-like layer.

Rest-frame 0.48–1.1 μm emission line strengths and molecular gas mass (H2) upper limits for three luminous infrared sources – the hyperluminous infrared galaxies (HyLIGs: Lir ≥ 1013L⊙ where Lir ~ L(8 – 1000μm) IRAS F09105+4108 (z = 0.4417), IRAS F15307+3252 (z = 0.926), and the optically-selected QSO PG 1634+706 (z = 1.338) - are presented. Diagnostic emission-line ratios ([O III] λ5007/Hβ, [S II] λ6724/Hα, [N II] λ6583/Hα, and [S III] λλ9069+9532/Hα) indicate a Seyfert 2-like spectrum for both infrared galaxies, consistent with previously published work. Upper limits on the molecular gas mass for all three sources are M(H2) < 1 - 3 × 1010h−2M⊙ (q0 = 0.5, H0 = 100h km s−1 Mpc−1), less than the H2 mass of the most gas-rich infrared galaxies in the local Universe. All three sources have Lir/L′CO ~ 1300 – 2000, the most extreme values for extragalactic sources measured to date. Given the relatively warm far-infrared colors for all three objects, much of their infrared luminosity may emanate from a relatively small quantity of hot dust near an AGN.

Objective: To know the rate and predictors for derecognition/demotion in HEC-indexed Y, and Z categories health science journals (HSJs)
 Methods: A list of HEC-indexed Y and Z categories HSJs was downloaded from the official website of HEC, Pakistan on 29 July 2019. General information like the type of publisher, specialty, sponsoring body, origin city, and sector (Armed Forces/Civilian) of the derecognized or demoted journals were noted. Fundamental issues like HEC's procedures were resolved using literature review, contacts to the affected journals, and peer-to-peer discussions. 
 Results: Of 50 journals, 25 (50%) were found against each of the Y and Z categories. Fourteen (56% of the total) Y category journals faced adversity in the form of derecognition (n = 5) or demotion (n = 9). Whereas, the rate increased remarkably to 64% (n = 16) in the Z category. Similarly, the high rate was noticed in specialty-specific journals (67.9%, n =19). A journal under private sponsorship had twofold more chance of the adversity (95%CI:1.003-2.918, p = .05) than public-sponsored journals (75 vs. 50%, respectively). Most of the affected Z category journals (n = 13, 81.3%) had their first registration with HEC before 2015.
 Conclusion: The policy of HEC for derecognition/demotion of HSJs needs extensive review to promote medical publications.

Abstract Purpose High-grade astrocytoma with piloid features (HGAP) is a recently described brain tumor entity defined by a specific DNA methylation profile. HGAP has been proposed to be integrated in the upcoming World Health Organization classification of central nervous system tumors expected in 2021. In this series, we present the first single-center experience with this new entity. Methods During 2017 and 2020, six HGAP were identified. Clinical course, surgical procedure, histopathology, genome-wide DNA methylation analysis, imaging, and adjuvant therapy were collected. Results Tumors were localized in the brain stem (n = 1), cerebellar peduncle (n = 1), diencephalon (n = 1), mesencephalon (n = 1), cerebrum (n = 1) and the thoracic spinal cord (n = 2). The lesions typically presented as T1w hypo- to isointense and T2w hyperintense with inhomogeneous contrast enhancement on MRI. All patients underwent initial surgical intervention. Three patients received adjuvant radiochemotherapy, and one patient adjuvant radiotherapy alone. Four patients died of disease, with an overall survival of 1.8, 9.1, 14.8 and 18.1 months. One patient was alive at the time of last follow-up, 14.6 months after surgery, and one patient was lost to follow-up. Apart from one tumor, the lesions did not present with high grade histology, however patients showed poor clinical outcomes. Conclusions Here, we provide detailed clinical, neuroradiological, histological, and molecular pathological information which might aid in clinical decision making until larger case series are published. With the exception of one case, the tumors did not present with high-grade histology but patients still showed short intervals between diagnosis and tumor progression or death even after extensive multimodal therapy.

Abstract Gaucher disease (GD) is an inherited lysosomal storage disease, which is often managed by enzyme replacement therapy (ERT). While the response to ERT is gratifying in terms of hepatosplenomegaly, cytopenias, and general well-being, the response of bony disease is very slow, and in some cases non-existent. Skeletal manifestations are the most painful and debilitating components of GD type 1, and have a negative impact on the patient’s quality of life. Whether an increase in the dose of ERT has a beneficial effect, and whether substrate reduction therapy (SRT) stabilizes and/or ameliorates bony disease, is controversial. The aim of our study was to determine whether or not there is enough evidence to make a definitive statement about the effects of ERT and SRT on bony complications of Gaucher disease. We conducted a systematic review of all studies examining the effects of ERT and SRT on bony complications of Gaucher disease published before July 2008. The studies were identified by a computerized search using Medline, Embase, The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, The Cochrane Central Register of Control Trials (CCTR), and bibliographies of papers subsequently retrieved from the search. Three hundred studies were grouped according to whether they deal with the natural history of GD or therapeutic issues and 17 studies were included in the review. Meta analyses were done using a random effects model and the studies compared baseline versus after-treatment values. Quantitative Chemical Shift Imaging (QCSI) of vertebral bone marrow (BM) fat fraction, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) T1-weighted signal, semi-quantitative MRI bone marrow burden (BMB) score, and bone mineral density (BMD) Z scores of spine and femur were used to assess the effects of ERT and SRT on bony complications. Of the 4 studies that measured BM fat fraction, 3 showed that fat fraction significantly increased after ERT (Weighted Mean Difference [WMD] of 0.17, 95 % CI of 0.13 to 0.2, n= 36, p < 0.00001) and one study showed a non-significant increase in fat fraction after SRT (n = 2, p = 1.23). MRI T1-weighted signal was measured in 6 studies (5 studies on ERT and one on SRT), and 44/78 (56%) of GD1 patients were responders to ERT versus 20/78 (25.6%) who did not respond to ERT. One study showed that BM infiltration generally decreased after SRT. Of the 3 studies that measured BMB score, 2 showed that BMB score significantly decreased after ERT (WMD of −4.98, 95 % CI of −8.38 to −1.57, n= 27, p = 0.004) and one study showed a stable BMB score after SRT (n = 6, p = 0.82).The 4 studies in which BMD Z score of lumbar spine (LS) was measured showed an increase in Z score after ERT (WMD of 0.37, 95 % CI of −0.05 to 0.79, n= 54, p = 0.09) and one study showed a significant increase in LS Z score after 6 months of SRT. Of the 3 studies that measured BMD Z score of femurs, 2 showed a non-significant increase in Z score after ERT (WMD of 0.16, 95 % CI of −0.29 to 0.61, n= 43, p = 0.48) and one study showed a significant increase in femur Z score after 6 months of SRT. These studies suggest that ERT may be more effective in ameliorating BM involvement than in increasing BMD Z scores. SRT may stabilize the BM involvement and generally increase the BMD Z scores. However, further investigations are needed on the effects of SRT on bony complications of GD.

Background The single-breath diffusing capacity of the lung for carbon monoxide (DLCO) interpretation needs the comparison of measured values to reference values. In 2017, the Global Lung Function Initiative published new reference values (GLI-2017) for DLCO, alveolar volume (VA) and transfer coefficient of the lung for carbon monoxide (KCO). We aimed to assess the applicability of GLI-2017 reference values for DLCO on a large population by comparing them to the European Community of Steel and Coal equations of 1993 (ECSC-93) widely used. Methods In this retrospective study, spirometric indices, total lung capacity, DLCO, VA and KCO were measured in adults classified in 5 groups (controls, asthma, chronic bronchitis, cystic fibrosis, and interstitial lung diseases (ILD)). Statistical analysis comparing the 2 equations sets were stratified by sex. Results 4180 tests were included. GLI-2017 z-scores of the 3 DLCO indices of the controls (n = 150) are nearer to 0 (expected value in a normal population) than ECSC-93 z-scores. All groups combined, in both genders, DLCO GLI-2017 z-scores and %predicted are significantly higher than ECSC z-scores and %predicted. In the ILD group, differences between the 2 equation sets depend on the DLCO impairment severity: GLI-2017 z-scores are higher than ECSC z-scores in patients with no or “mild” decrease in DLCO, but are lower in “moderate” or “severe” decrease. Conclusion GLI-2017 reference values for DLCO are more suitable to our population and influence the diagnostic criteria and severity definition of several lung diseases.

Body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) and BP were transformed to z-scores using published standards.Outcome measuresLinear and logistic regression analyses were used to explore associations between the range of variables with BP z-scores and hypertension while stepwise regression was used to identify aggregate factors that provided explanatory capacity for systolic BP (SBP) and diastolic BP (DBP) z-scores.ResultsA range of variables were associated with BP z-score and hypertension in unadjusted analysis. On adjustment for confounders, the association between age (β=−0.054, 95% CI=−0.078 to 0.029), female sex (β=−0.208, 95% CI=−0.350 to –0.067), height (β=0.022, 95% CI=0.011 to 0.033), weight (β=0.047, 95% CI=0.040 to 0.055), BMI z-score (β=0.292, 95% CI=0.249 to 0.336), WC z-score (β=0.273, 95% CI=0.219 to 0.326), WHtR z-score (β=0.289, 95% CI=0.236 to 0.342), heart rate (β=0.016, 95% CI=0.010 to 0.022), child’s perception of body image (β=0.183, 95% CI=0.128 to 0.239) and grip strength (β=0.025, 95% CI=0.007 to 0.043) with SBP z-score remained. In stepwise regression, age, sex, BMI z-score, heart rate and weight accounted for 30% of the variance of SBP z-score, while age, BMI z-score, heart rate and daily fast food intake accounted for 23% of the DBP z-score variance.ConclusionOur findings suggest that variables, such as age, sex, height, adiposity and heart rate, provide stronger explanatory capacity to BP variance and hypertension risk than other variables in South Asian children.

The aim of this study was to assess the prognostic and predictive value of an untargeted assessment of tumor fractions in the plasma of metastatic breast cancer patients and to compare circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) with circulating tumor cells (CTC) and conventional tumor markers. In metastatic breast cancer patients (n = 29), tumor fractions in plasma were assessed using the untargeted mFAST-SeqS method from 127 serial blood samples. Resulting z-scores for the ctDNA were compared to tumor fractions established with the recently published ichorCNA algorithm and associated with the clinical outcome. We observed a close correlation between mFAST-SeqS z-scores and ichorCNA ctDNA quantifications. Patients with mFAST-SeqS z-scores above three (34.5%) showed significantly worse overall survival (p = 0.014) and progression-free survival (p = 0.018) compared to patients with lower values. Elevated z-score values were clearly associated with radiologically proven progression. The baseline CTC count, carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), and cancer antigen (CA)15-5 had no prognostic impact on the outcome of patients in the analyzed cohort. This proof of principle study demonstrates the prognostic impact of ctDNA levels detected with mFAST-SeqS as a very fast and cost-effective means to assess the ctDNA fraction without prior knowledge of the genetic landscape of the tumor. Furthermore, mFAST-SeqS-based ctDNA levels provided an early means of measuring treatment response.

Abstract:
Aims. Cluster environments at z < 0.5 were found to increase the gas metallicities of galaxies which enter inner regions of the clusters where the density of the intracluster medium is high enough to remove their hot halo gas by ram-pressure stripping effects and to stop the inflow of pristine gas. To extend these studies to z > 1, the most massive clusters known at these redshifts are the sites where these environmental effects should be more pronounced and more easily observed with present day telescopes. Methods. We explore the massive cluster XMMXCS J2215.9−1738 at z ∼ 1.5 with KMOS spectroscopy of Hα and [N II] λ 6584 covering a region that corresponds to about one virial radius. Using published spectroscopic redshifts of 108 galaxies in and around the cluster we computed the location of galaxies in the projected velocity-versus-position phase-space to separate our cluster sample into a virialized region of objects accreted longer ago (roughly inside half R200) and a region of infalling galaxies. We measured oxygen abundances for ten cluster galaxies with detected [N II] λ 6584 lines in the individual galaxy spectra and compared the mass–metallicity relation of the galaxies inside half R200 with the infalling galaxies and a field sample at similar redshifts. Results. We find that the oxygen abundances of individual z ∼ 1.5 star-forming cluster galaxies inside half R200 are comparable, at the respective stellar mass, to the higher local SDSS metallicity values. We compare our measurements with a field galaxy sample from the KMOS3D survey at similar redshifts. We find that the [N II] λ 6584/Hα line ratios inside half R200 are higher by 0.2 dex and that the resultant metallicities of the galaxies in the inner part of the cluster are higher by about 0.1 dex, at a given mass, than the metallicities of infalling galaxies and of field galaxies at z ∼ 1.5. The enhanced metallicities of cluster galaxies at z ∼ 1.5 inside 0.5R200 indicate that the density of the intracluster medium in this massive cluster becomes high enough toward the cluster center such that the ram pressure exceeds the restoring pressure of the hot gas reservoir of cluster galaxies. This can remove the gas reservoir and initiate quenching; although the galaxies continue to form stars, albeit at slightly lower rates, using the available cold gas in the disk which is not stripped.

Abstract Background: Pamidronate (P) and zoledronate (Z) are bisphosphonates (BPs) that reduce the risk of skeletal events in patients with multiple myeloma (MM). Although published comparative data and the drug label are confined to patients with bone lesions, the drugs are widely used in patients without bone lesions and often in those with smoldering myeloma. Systematic safety data are available only for short-term administration (up to 2 years) but the drugs are commonly administered for prolonged periods of time. Recently, reports of osteonecrosis (ON) of the jaw (mandible and/or maxilla) have appeared with the chronic use of BPs predominantly P and Z. ON has been identified in association with BP therapy in patients with MM, other malignancies, and non-cancerous conditions. Methods: We reviewed the medical and dental records of MM patients with confirmed, clinically obvious ON seen at our MM program between March 2001 and June 2004. Several clinical and pathological characteristics were evaluated. Results: Seven patients with ON of the jaw were identified amongst approximately 600 MM patients seen at our institution during this time period. An additional case, identified very recently on clinical grounds, is being investigated. There were 6 men and 1 woman, with a median age of 60 years (range, 56–64). All 7 patients were on P or Z at the time of diagnosis, and the median duration of prior BP therapy was 43 months (range, 4–75). All had received corticosteroids previously, and 3 had received thalidomide. Two had received local radiation to the jaw previously, and 2 had a history of dental extraction more than 3 years prior to this diagnosis. ON involved the mandible in 5, the maxilla in 1, and both in 1. Symptoms included local pain and discomfort. Therapy was variable, and the multiple approaches used included systemic analgesics (n=7), surgical debridement (n=6; repeatedly in 3), gingivoplasty (n=1), teeth extraction (n=2), prolonged antibiotic therapy (n=2), and hyperbaric oxygen therapy (n=2). Some symptom control was achieved in all patients, but all continued to have persistent problems at the time of last contact (n=6) or death from progressive myeloma (n=1). The limited data suggested that surgical intervention controlled symptoms for a short while but was invariably followed by worse symptoms. Conclusions: We conclude that jaw ON is a newly identified serious complication of pamidronate and zoledronate therapy that is difficult to manage. Possible contribution of other agents such as corticosteroids and thalidomide to its causation remains to be determined. The prevalence rate of 1.5% in our patient population is very likely an underestimate because only symptomatic patients have been identified. A multi-pronged approach is necessary to identify the extent of this problem in MM patients, and broaden our understanding of it. Amongst the steps to be taken are: (1) careful assessment of the need for continued P or Z therapy in patients who have received the drugs for 2 years, (2) jaw imaging in patients with any local symptoms, (3) discontinuation of BP therapy in patients developing ON, (4) reporting details of cases with ON to FDAs MedWatch Program, and (5) avoidance of P/Z in patients with plasma cell dyscrasias where the utility of these drugs has not been established (e.g. smoldering myeloma). An additional step that may be useful as a prospective clinical investigation would be to perform detailed imaging studies of the jaw in all MM patients who have received P and/or Z for 3 years or more.

Objective To define the normal range for a novel parameter of left ventricular (LV) size in premature neonates. Study Design We retrospectively analyzed echocardiographic imaging data to produce percentile nomograms and tabular data for Z-score calculation for LV end-diastolic volume (LVEDV) in premature neonates. The utility of LVEDV was compared with the current standard for LV size in patients who were treated for a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). Results The mean gestational age and weight for the normal (n = 85) and PDA (n = 19) cohorts was 33 ± 5 weeks and 1.96 ± 1.0 kg and 25 ± 2 weeks and 0.87 ± 0.3 kg, respectively. The mean LVEDV of the PDA group (97.7 ± 22.2 mL/m^2.76) was significantly larger than that of reference group (63.0 ± 11.2 mL/m^2.76), p = 0.002. The sensitivity of LVEDV was better (68 vs. 11%) compared with LV dimension (the current standard) in detecting a large LV in the PDA patients. The LVEDV for our reference cohort (63.0 ± 11.2 mL/m^2.76) was smaller than the published normals (70.4 ± 9.1 mL/m^2.76, p < 0.001) for infants. Conclusion Echocardiographic LVEDV can now be utilized to determine the LV size in premature neonates. In patients with a PDA, an elevated LVEDV > +2 Z-scores can serve as objective data to aid in clinical trials and/or management decisions.

Introduction: Central Nervous System Vital Signs (CNS VS) is a computerized neuropsychological battery that is translated into many languages. However, published CNS VS’ normative data were established over a decade ago, are solely age-corrected, and collected in an American population only. Method: Mean performance of healthy Dutch participants on CNS VS was compared with the original CNS VS norms ( N = 1,069), and effects of sociodemographic variables were examined. Results: z tests demonstrated no significant differences in performance on four out of seven cognitive domains; however, Dutch participants ( N = 158) showed higher scores on processing and psychomotor speed, as well as on cognitive flexibility. Although the original CNS VS norms are solely age-corrected, effects of education and sex on CNS VS performance were also identified in the Dutch sample. Discussion: Users should be cautious when interpreting CNS VS performance based on the original American norms, and sociodemographic factors must also be considered.

Ages of jolthead porgy (Calamus bajonado Schneider 1801) (n = 635) from Florida commercial and recreational fisheries from 2008–2016 were determined using sectioned sagittal otoliths. We determined, using edge-type analysis, that opaque zones were annular, forming March–June (peaking in April). Jolthead porgy ranged from 1–13 years, and the largest fish measured 680 mm TL (total length, mm). Body size relationships for jolthead porgy were TL = 1.09FL + 20.44 (n = 622, r2 = 0.99), FL = 0.90 TL –14.26 (n = 622, r2 = 0.99), and W = 1.1 × 10−5 TL3.06 (n = 577), where W is total weight (grams, g) and FL is fork length (mm). The von Bertalanffy growth equation for jolthead porgy was Lt = 737(1 − e−0.14(t+2.02)) (n = 635). Point estimate of natural mortality was M = 0.32, while age-specific estimates of M ranged from 0.58–0.17 y−1 for ages 1–13. Catch curve analysis estimated the instantaneous rate of total mortality Z = 0.70, while instantaneous rate of fishing mortality F was 0.38. Macroscopic staging of female gonads indicated the presence of hydrated oocytes from December–March, and GSI data indicates that peak spawning in females occurs during March. This study presents the first published findings of life history parameters for jolthead porgy from the Atlantic waters off the southeastern United States.

ObjectiveGiven the South Asian phenotype of higher body fat at similar body mass index (BMI) relative to Caucasians, we sought to explore the association between prominent adiposity indicators with blood pressure (BP) and hypertension, to compare the accuracy of these indicators in estimating hypertension, and to provide cut-off values associated with adverse hypertension risk in South Asian children.DesignCross-sectional study.SettingCommunity-based recruitment in two Canadian cities (Hamilton and Surrey).ParticipantsSouth Asian children (n=762) were recruited from two Canadian cities. Waist circumference, waist to height ratio and BMI were determined. Body fat percentage was assessed by bioelectrical impedance analysis and BP was assessed using an automated device. All variables (except body fat percentage) were transformed to z-scores using published standards.Outcome measuresLinear and Poisson regression was used to explore associations between the adiposity indicators with BP z-score and hypertension. Receiver operating curve (ROC) analysis was used to explore the strength of the adiposity indicators in estimating hypertension risk and sex-stratified optimal adiposity cut-off values associated with hypertension risk.ResultsSignificant associations were detected in adjusted and unadjusted models between the adiposity indicators with BP z-score and hypertension (p<0.01 for all). The area under the curve (AUC) values for the adiposity indicators for boys and girls ranged from 0.74 to 0.80, suggesting that the adiposity indicators are fair measures of estimating hypertension risk. Sex-stratified cut-off associated with adverse risk of hypertension for girls and boys, respectively, were at the 92nd and 82nd percentile for BMI z-scores, 65th and 80th percentile for WC z-score, 63rd and 67th percentile for WHtR z-score and at 29.8% and 23.5% for body fat.ConclusionOur results show associations between adiposity indicators with BP and hypertension and suggests that South Asian children might be at adverse risk of hypertension at levels of adiposity considered normal.

Abstract Background Antipsychotics are more effective than placebo in reducing symptoms in schizophrenia. However, response to treatment appears to vary, and as such it has been proposed that different subtypes of schizophrenia exist, defined by treatment-response. This has not been formally examined using meta-analysis. Methods Randomised controlled trials comparing placebo and antipsychotics for the acute treatment of schizophrenia published between January 1 1950 and November 30, 2018 were examined. Mean change and variance of change in symptoms were extracted from each study, alongside publication year, participant age and gender, baseline symptom severity, antipsychotic dose, and use of placebo lead-in. Relative variability of symptomatic improvement in antipsychotic-treated individuals compared to placebo-treated individuals was quantified using coefficient of variation ratio (CVR). Mean difference in symptom change was quantified using Hedges’ g. The significance of potential moderating factors was assessed using meta-regression and sensitivity analyses. In addition, individual patient data from two clinical trials (N=522) was examined in terms of both the distribution of total symptom change, and the variability of individual symptoms and symptom factors. Results 11,006 articles were identified. 66 met inclusion criteria, reporting on 17,202 participants. Compared with placebo, antipsychotic-treated patients demonstrated both greater symptomatic improvement (g=0.47, p<0.001) and reduced variability in symptomatic improvement (CVR=0.86, p<0.001). Lower variability in antipsychotic-response was associated with studies including younger patients (z=3.07, p=0.002), those published earlier (z=3.98, p<0.001), with higher dose treatments (z=-2.62, p=0.009), and greater mean-difference in symptom-change (z=-5.70, p<0.001). In the individual patient data antipsychotic treated patients did not show significantly increased variability for any individual symptom, and there was no evidence of a bimodal distribution of response. Discussion Compared to placebo, in addition to a greater mean change, antipsychotic treatment shows lower variability of change in total, positive, and negative symptoms. This is contrary to the hypothesis that there exists a subtype of antipsychotic non-responsive schizophrenia, instead providing evidence for a relatively homogeneous effect of antipsychotic treatment in improving symptoms of schizophrenia.

Summary Problems with existing procedures used to estimate gas pressure/volume/temperature (PVT) properties are identified. The situation is reviewed, and methods are proposed to alleviate these problems. Natural gases are derived from two basic sources: associated gas, which is liberated from oil, and gas condensates, where hydrocarbon liquid, if present, is vaporized in the gas phase. The two gases are fundamentally different in that a high-gravity associated gas is typically rich in ethane through pentane, while gas condensates are rich in heptanes-plus. Additionally, either type of gas may contain nonhydrocarbon impurities such as hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen. Failure to distinguish properly between the two types of gases can result in calculation errors in excess of those allowable for technical work. Sutton (1985) investigated high-gravity gas/condensate gases and developed methods for estimating pseudocritical properties that resulted in more-accurate Z factors. The method is suitable for all light natural gases and the heavier gas/condensate gases. It should not be used for high-gravity hydrocarbon gases that do not contain a significant heptanes-plus component. The original Sutton database of gas/condensate PVT properties has been expanded to 2,264 gas compositions with more than 10,000 gas-compressibility-factor measurements. A database of associated-gas compositions containing more than 3,200 compositions has been created to evaluate suitable methods for estimating PVT properties for this category of gas. Pure-component data for methane (CH4), methane-propane, methane-n-butane, methane-n-decane, and methane-propane-n-decane have been compiled to determine the suitability of the derived methods. The Wichert (1970) database of sour-gas-compressibility factors has been supplemented with additional field and pure-component data to investigate suitable adjustments to pseudocritical properties that ensure accurate estimates of compressibility factors. Mathematical representations of compressibility-factor charts commonly used by the engineering community and methods used by the geophysics community are investigated. Generally, these representations/methods are robust and have been found suitable for ranges beyond those recommended originally. Natural-gas viscosity, typically estimated through correlation, has been found to be inadequate for high-gravity gas condensates, requiring revised procedures for accurate calculations. Introduction Since its publication, the Standing and Katz (1942) (SK) gas Z-factor chart has become a standard in the industry. Several very accurate methods have been developed to represent the chart digitally. The engineering community typically uses methods published by Hall and Yarborough (1973, 1974) (HY), Dranchuk et al. (1974) (DPR), and Dranchuk and Abou-Kassem (1975) (DAK). These methods all use some form of an equation of state that has been fitted specifically to selected digital Z-factor-chart data published by Poettmann and Carpenter (1952). The geophysics community typically uses a method developed by Batzle and Wang (1992) (BW). Recently, Londono et al. (2002) (LAB) refitted the chart with an expanded data set, resulting in a modified DAK method. They provided two equations: one fit to an expanded data set from the SK Z-factor chart and another that included pure-component data. A general gas Z-factor chart, such as the one developed by Standing and Katz (1942), is based on the principle of corresponding states (Katz et al. 1959). This principle states that two substances at the same conditions referenced to critical pressure and critical temperature will have similar properties. These conditions are referred to as reduced pressure and reduced temperature. Therefore, if two substances are compared at the same reduced conditions, the substances will have similar properties. In the context of this paper, the property of interest is the gas Z factor. Mathematically, the SK chart relates Z factor to reduced pressure and reduced temperature.

Abstract:
Recently described small outcrop of the upper part of the Barnasiówka Formation yielded several manganese oxidic minerals. Outcrop at the bank of the Krnalovice Stream (GPS N 49°38.623’ E 018°14.630’) consists of Lower Turonian greenish to grey-black laminated claystone alternating with grey chert. The whole sequence is a part of the Baška facies of the Silesian Unit, Outer Western Carpathians. In the middle part of the profile occur concretional aggregates containing manganese minerals. The central pale part of these aggregates is composed of quartz (ca. 90 wt.%), albite (ca. 9 wt.%), and muscovite, the darker rim of quartz (ca. 80 wt.%), goethite (ca. 10 wt.%), illite, todorokite, plagioclase, K-feldspar, and pyrite. Occasionally, remains of Mn-rich siderite were preserved in the cores. We suppose that they are in fact weathering products of carbonate-rich silicites. Manganese oxides also enter fissures in form of thin black coatings. Powder X-ray diffraction proved the presence of todorokite, ranciéite, pyrolusite, and possible vernadite. Todorokite forms black coatings with submetallic lustre, often associating with ranciéite. Ranciéite is dark pink to pinkish-brown, with a metallic lustre. Back-scattered electron images reveal its extremely thin tabular, sometimes undulated crystals and hexagonally oriented intergrowths. Powder diffraction data are strongly affected by preferred orientation, with dominating basal reflections of 001 plane at 7.4849 Å and plane 002 at 3.7424 Å. Its average formula from nine WDS spots (Ca0.14Mg0.01Ba0.01K0.01)Σ0.17(Mn4+0.86Si0.02Al0.03Fe0.01)Σ0.92O2.00·0.88H2O (based on 2 anions, water calculated from the ratio of cation sum / H2O in the formula according to Post et al. 2008) and CaO/MnO2 ratio 9 to 12 correspond well to the published data for this phase. Ranciéite is a rather common phyllomanganate from various geological environments, but this locality represents its first unambiguous occurrence in the Czech Republic. It closely resembles the one from Polish flysch Carpathians from Nowa Wieś near Rzesów.

Titin is an approximately 3 MDa protein that spans from the M- to the Z-line in the sarcomeres of vertebrate striated muscle. The protein is presumably encoded by unusually large mRNAs of 70–80 kb. Although titin has been studied by several laboratories, barely more than half of the cDNA sequence (approximately 45 kb) has been published, most of it obtained from the A-band and M-line region (corresponding to the C-terminal half of the molecule). A special cDNA library was constructed using size selected total RNA from adult rabbit cardiac muscle in order to obtain sequence data from titin's unknown N-terminal region. A monoclonal antibody (T12), which binds to an epitope close to the Z-line, was used to identify initial cDNA clones. Additional overlapping clones were isolated and sequenced yielding a 5.4 kb contig. The encoded polypeptide contains 16 Type-II domains and four unique intervening segments. Polyclonal sera, raised against an expressed protein fragment encoded by the 5′ end of the contig, strongly stained the Z-line of myofibrils of different species. However, the sequence of this fragment is 83% identical at the amino acid level with the previously reported C-terminal (i.e. M-line) end of chicken embryonic skeletal muscle titin. The expressed protein fragment could be phosphorylated in vitro by embryonic skeletal muscle extract and by the purified proline-directed kinase ERK1, presumably at the xSPxR recognition sites located in the first interdomain segment.

Abstract:
A new polymorph is reported of the pharmaceutically active sulfapyridine derivative,N-(6-methylpyridin-2-yl)mesitylenesulfonamide, in the zwitterionic form 2-methyl-6-{[(2,4,6-trimethylbenzene)sulfonyl]azanidyl}pyridin-1-ium, C15H18N2O2S. The observed dimorphism is solvent dependent. The phase described previously [Beloso, Castro, García-Vázquez, Pérez-Lourido, Romero & Sousa (2003).Z. Anorg. Allg. Chem.629, 275–284] crystallizes from ethanol and several other organic solvents, whereas the new form described here is obtained as a phase-pure product from methanol. The molecules in both dimorphic phases are very similar and adopt the conformation which is also predicted for an individual molecule by force field calculations. However, the two forms differ in their packing and hydrogen bonding. Results from solvent-assisted grinding indicate that the new form is less stable than the previously published phase.

Introduction: Designed in 1972 the Abbreviated Mental Test Score (AMTS) is widely used to assess a cognition on hospital admission. The Nottingham Hip Fracture Score uses this in predicting morbidity/mortality in neck of femur fracture. The consequences of misappropriating cognitive impairment could have lasting implications. Questions about the monarchy or World War One and Two may be inappropriate for today’s diverse society. Materials and Methods: 100 patients were questioned during routine fracture clinic appointments. Patients were asked: In what year did WWII start? Who is the current monarch? Please state a memorable event in your lifetime that you would not expect another person of the same age to forget. Two-tailed Z-tests were performed between the observed proportions and those from the original AMTS validation study. Results: Only 47% (n = 47) were able to correctly answer the year in which WW2 started. A statistically significant difference when compared to the upper and lower limits from the original study (z = -4.191, p < .001.). Significance was not seen in the second question, with 97% (n-97) identifying the monarch correctly. 51% (n = 51) of participants suggested the terrorist attack on the World Trade Centre in New York as an alternative memorable event. Discussion: Some hospitals now use the 4 “A”s Test (4-AT) as a screening tool for delirium. Without amendments to the Nottingham Hip Fracture Score, AMTS use is likely to continue in orthogeriatric patients. Over time there will be a need for the AMTS to be reviewed so that it remains a true assessment of cognition. Its limitations regarding language and culture is widely acknowledged and several validated variants have been published in the literaure. Conclusions: We highlight a potential future issue with the AMTS and raise considerations for the development of an alternative question to better meet the needs of the orthogeriatric population.

Atomic data on high-Z materials are important for impurity diagnostics due to its possible use in the next generation fusion devices including astrophysics. For this purpose, in the present paper, energies, lifetimes and wave-function compositions have been computed for all level of 1s$^2$, 1s2l,1s3l, 1s4l, 1s5l and 1s6l in highly charged He-like tungsten ion (W LXXIII). Also, we have presented the transition wavelengths, oscillator strengths, transition probabilities and line strengths for the electric dipole (E1) transitions from the levels 1s$^2$, 1s2s and 1s2p. Our reported results have been obtained using the fully relativistic GRASP code including the correlations within the $n = 6$ complex. The validity of the method is assessed through the comparison with the other results previously published. The excellent agreement observed between our new GRASP results and those obtained using different approaches confirm the accuracy of our results.

A study of the literature shows the lack of data on a comprehensive analysis of eating disorders in children with neurodysfunction, which constitute a clinical subgroup with an increased risk of abnormalities in this area. Therefore, the aim of this study was to determine the relationship between the coexistence of nutritional disorders and diseases or syndromes associated with neurodysfunction based on data collected during hospitalization at a rehabilitation center for children and adolescents. A retrospective analysis was carried out in a group of 327 children and adolescents aged 4–18 years. The study group covered various types of diseases or syndromes involving damage to the central nervous system. A retrospective analysis of baseline data (age, sex, main and additional diagnosis and Body Mass Index—BMI) was performed. Two assessment criteria of nutritional status were taken into account (z-score BMI and other previously published normative values). In the study group, malnutrition was found more frequently (18.0% of the respondents) than obesity (11.3% of the subjects). Hypothyroidism coexisting with malnutrition was identified in the study group (N% = 43.8%, p = 0.011) and malnutrition with tetraplegia in the subgroup of spastic cerebral palsy (N% = 34.2 %, p = 0.029).

Abstract:
The present article involves a qualitative study of the framing of dementia in ‘Alzheimer’s and Dementia’, the Journal of the Alzheimer’s Association, published in 2016. The aim of this study is to elucidate how dementia is framed qualitatively in the corpus consisting of scientific articles involving dementia published in ‘Alzheimer’s and Dementia’. The results of the qualitative analysis indicate that dementia is represented in ‘Alzheimer’s and Dementia’ in 2016 as the frames associated with gender, age, costs, caregiver and care-recipients, disability and death, health policy, spatial orientation, medical condition, and ethnic groups. These findings are further discussed in the article.

Background The prevalence and consequences of obesity among children and adolescents remain a leading global public health concern, and evidence-based, multidisciplinary lifestyle interventions are the cornerstone of treatment. Mobile electronic devices are widely used across socioeconomic categories and may provide a means of extending the reach and efficiency of health care interventions. Objective We aimed to synthesize the evidence regarding mobile health (mHealth) for the treatment of childhood overweight and obesity to map the breadth and nature of the literature in this field and describe the characteristics of published studies. Methods We conducted a systematic scoping review in line with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for scoping reviews, by searching nine academic databases in addition to gray literature for studies describing acceptability, usability, feasibility, effectiveness, adherence, or cost-effectiveness of interventions assessing mHealth for childhood obesity treatment. We also hand searched the reference lists of relevant articles. Studies aimed at the prevention of overweight or obesity were excluded, as were studies in which mHealth was not the primary mode of treatment delivery for at least one study arm or was not independently assessed. A random portion of all abstracts and full texts was double screened by a second reviewer to ensure consistency. Data were charted according to study characteristics, including design, participants, intervention content, behavior change theory (BCT) underpinning the study, mode of delivery, and outcomes measured. Results We identified 42 eligible studies assessing acceptability (n=7), usability (n=2), feasibility or pilot studies (n=15), treatment effect (n=17), and fidelity (n=1). Change in BMI z-scores or percentiles was most commonly measured, among a variety of dietary, physical activity, psychological, and usability or acceptability measures. SMS, mobile apps, and wearable devices made up the majority of mobile interventions, and 69% (29/42) of the studies specified a BCT used. Conclusions Pediatric weight management using mHealth is an emerging field, with most work to date aimed at developing and piloting such interventions. Few large trials are published, and these are heterogeneous in nature and rarely reported according to the Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials for eHealth guidelines. There is an evidence gap in the cost-effectiveness analyses of such studies.

Abstract Purpose Altered cerebral hemodynamics are involved in changes in head biometry in fetuses with congenital heart disease (CHD). We compared head growth in different CHD groups with published normative values and investigated whether CHD groups differ from each other in terms of head circumference (HC) development over gestational age (GA). Materials and Methods Retrospective cohort study consisting of 248 CHD fetuses. Subgroups were generated according to the expected ascending aorta oxygen saturation: Low placental blood content (BC) and therefore low oxygen delivery to the brain (group 1: n = 108), intermediate placental and systemic BC due to intracardiac mixing of blood (group 2: n = 103), high placental BC (group 3: n = 13) and low placental BC and low oxygen delivery to the brain without mixing of blood (group 4: n = 24). Furthermore, group 1 was divided into antegrade (n = 34) and retrograde (n = 74) flow through the aortic arch. Comparisons were made at a GA of 22, 30 and 38 weeks. Results Estimated values of zHC (z-score transformed) were not significantly different between the four CHD groups at the three time points in gestation (all p > 0.05). Within group 1 fetuses with retrograde aortic arch flow showed a significant negative association between HC and GA compared to reference values (b = –0.054, p < 0.001) and had significantly lower zHC values at 38 weeks (–0.836) compared to fetuses with antegrade flow (0.366, p = 0.009). Conclusion Our data do not confirm that CHD fetuses in general have a significantly smaller HC. HC becomes smaller throughout gestation depending on the direction of aortic arch flow.
