Abstract:
This article presents an overview of charging technology called Shaped Magnetic Field in Resonance (SMFIR). It has been developed by a team of engineers and technologists at the Korea Advanced Institute for Science and Technology. An all-electric bus developed in Korea recharges its battery when it travels over electric coils buried at intervals along its route. The concept is called on-line electric vehicles, and the heart of OLEV technology is the transfer of enough electricity across gaps of up to 10 inches to power a fully loaded bus. Specifically, underground cables transfer power from the electrical grid to drive motors and on-board batteries via pickups beneath the OLEV bus bodies. The OLEV system wirelessly charges a bus, stopped or in motion, for continuous operation. SMFIR transfers rely on electromagnetic field resonance rather than inductive coupling. In SMFIR technology, the sending unit and the vehicle receiver resonate at 20,000 hertz.

Abstract:
Abstract Gravity wants to pull an ice sheet to the center of the Earth, but cannot because the Earth’s crust is in the way, so ice is pushed out sideways instead. Or is it? The ice sheet “sees” nothing preventing it from spreading out except air, which is much less massive than ice. Therefore, does not ice rush forward to fill this relative vacuum; does not the relative vacuum suck ice into it, because Nature abhors a vacuum? If so, the ice sheet is not only pulled downward by gravity, it is also pulled outward by the relative vacuum. This pulling outward will be most rapid where the ice sheet encounters least resistance. The least resistance exists along the bed of ice streams, where ice-bed coupling is reduced by a basal water layer, especially if the ice stream becomes afloat and the floating part is relatively unconfined around its perimeter and unpinned to the sea floor. Ice streams are therefore fast currents of ice that develop near the margins of an ice sheet where these conditions exist. Because of these conditions, ice streams pull ice out of ice sheets and have pulling power equal to the longitudinal gravitational pulling force multiplied by the ice-stream velocity. These boundary conditions beneath and beyond ice streams can be quantified by a basal buoyancy factor that provides a life-cycle classification of ice streams into inception, growth, mature, declining and terminal stages, during which ice streams disintegrate the ice sheet. Surface profiles of ice streams are diagnostic of the stage in a life cycle and, hence, of the vitality of the ice sheet.

Abstract:
The effect of heating temperature and pulling rate on Young's modulus of steel FAS390Q was studied. The results show that the relationship between Young's modulus and reciprocal of absolute temperature follows exponent change, and Young's modulus and pulling rate follows power function relation (power index for 0.189). Crystal vacancy is one of the most important reasons for elasticity phenomenon of steels, which results in the fact that the Young's modulus is affected by pulling rate. Based on the statistical analysis, the mathematical model between Young's modulus of high temperature and pulling rate is established.

Abstract:
Optical tractor beams, proposed in 2011 and experimentally demonstrated soon after, offer the ability to pull particles against light propagation. It has attracted much research and public interest. Yet, its limited microscopic-scale range severely restricts its applicability. The dilemma is that a long-range Bessel beam, the most accessible beam for optical traction, has a small half-cone angle, θ0, making pulling difficult. Here, by simultaneously using several novel and compatible mechanisms, including transverse isotropy, Snell’s law, antireflection coatings (or impedance-matched metamaterials), and light interference, we overcome this dilemma and achieve long-range optical pulling at θ0≈ 1°. The range is estimated to be 14 cm when using ~1 W of laser power. Thus, macroscopic optical pulling can be realized in a medium or in a vacuum, with good tolerance of the half-cone angle and the frequency of the light.

Abstract:
Hsp70s use ATP to generate forces that disassemble protein complexes and aggregates, and that translocate proteins into organelles. Entropic pulling has been proposed as a novel mechanism, distinct from the more familiar power-stroke and Brownian ratchet models, for how Hsp70s generate these forces. Experimental evidence supports entropic pulling, but this model may not be well understood among scientists studying these systems. In this review we address persistent misconceptions regarding the dynamics of proteins in solution that contribute to this lack of understanding, and we clarify the basic physics of entropic pulling with some simple analogies. We hope that increased understanding of the entropic pulling mechanism will inform future efforts to characterize how Hsp70s function as motors, and how they coordinate with their regulatory cochaperones in mechanochemical cycles that transduce the energy of ATP hydrolysis into physical changes in their protein substrates.

Comparison of two high power pulser topologies is presented. Pulser design was aimed for piezoelectric transducer excitation, yet it can also be used for electromagnetic acoustic transducer (EMAT) or capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducers (CMUTs) excitation. Pulser can produce both single rectangular pulse and trains of rectangular arbitrary duration pulses. In order to achieve the economy of the electrical power consumption and speed both high-pulling and low-pulling elements are active switches. Energy per pulse was used to evaluate the amount of energy consumed. Two topologies were selected for evaluation: transformer output push–pull topology and half bridge output. Experimental investigation results are presented.

Abstract:
This paper deals with transportation technology regarding links between power unit and cargo space. These links can be divided into two groups: rigid and flexible. Rigid link, established between power unit and cargo space, is dominant in maritime and road transport (sea ships and trucks), and occasionally in transport on inland waterways (self- propelled barges). Flexible link is used in the railroad transport (systems with trailers and semi trailers), and in inland waterway transport (push - towing and pulling systems, and combinations of the systems). The main goal of this research is determination of possible link types and organization of the means of transportation.

Abstract:
The fate of the retailing industry is related to the freight industry of a country. In order to enhance the pulling power that the retailing has to the freight industry, this research investigated the interactive relationship of retailing and freight industry in Shanxi Province of China. Using the software Eviews 5.0®, a Co-integration Model was proposed. Evaluation of the validity of the model, using the Stationary Test, Granger Causality Test and Error Correction, proved that the model proposed had the ability to repair itself. Using the model to explain the relationship between retailing and freight results further revealed that there is a long-term equilibrium relationship between the two variables. Furthermore, this study proved that in order to enhance the pulling power that retailing has to freight industry, there is a need to pay attention to the final consumption, to support retailing and to speed up the urbanization construction.

Abstract:
The paper presents a comparison of pulling properties of a prototype of three-axle tractor 6K6 with the classical tractor John Deere 8400. To compare differences in the contact surface of wheels the authors measured the area of tyres of tested tractors. It was found out that the contact surface of tyres of 6K6 tractor was larger by 62 % than that of John Deere 8400. Results of measurements performed on a stubble indicated that the drawbar pull force of 6K6 tractor was 70 kN while that of 4K4 only 58 kN (slippage of wheels was in both cases 40 %). It was concluded that although the weights of both tractors were comparable, a greater drawbar pull force of 6K6 tractor resulted from a larger contact area of tyres with soil surface. The maximum drawbar power of 6K6 tractor was measured at the speed ranging from 13 to 17 km.h-1. In case of John Deere 8400 tractor, the maximum drawbar power was recorded at speeds of 9 to 13 km.h-1.Wheels of the prototype 6K6 tractor were tyred with tyres 480/70 R 30. The equation of slippage curve was derived on the base of measured results and the coefficient of adhesion.

Abstract:
AbstractThis article examines the interrelationship between and the relative importance of individual leadership and structural power in promoting (or impeding) regime implementation. The theoretical debates on structural power and individual leadership are related to a particular case of regime implementation: the efforts of the Preparatory Commission on the International Seabed Authority and the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea to make the international seabed regime operational. The article concludes that hegemonic stability theory highlights a variable—structural power—which in this case is the key determinant of the ability to exert influence. On the other hand, hegemonic stability theory fails to establish causal links and it ignores other important variables, such as the constraints imposed by changes in the domestic environments of leading states as well as in the international environment. In the pulling and hauling of international negotiations aimed at regime implementation, individuals can and do play significant roles as structural, intellectual and, most particularly, entrepreneurial leaders.

Abstract:
BACKGROUND: Promising treatment avenues have been developed and studied that align well with the skills of psychiatric-mental health (PMH) nurses. The treatments are relationship-driven, nimble and accessible, and recovery-guided. They emphasize a whole-person approach with care delivered by a team of experts working in a contextually coordinated way. AIMS: To describe the challenges facing the United States with regard to mental illness and substance use disorders and the ways in which PMH nurses can use their skills to mitigate these challenges. METHOD: Published research and government reports were reviewed to obtain current mental health and substance use data. RESULTS: The number of people not being treated for mental illnesses—particularly serious mental illness, major depressive episode, and suicidal thoughts—has not improved since 2009. Although inroads have been made in reducing the rate of smoking in the United States, we are facing an opioid crisis. There are limited data on marijuana use, but it is apparent that many Americans use cannabis routinely. According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration, approximately 44.7 million people need mental health treatment and 20.1 million Americans need substance use treatment, but only 10% to 30% receive it. CONCLUSIONS: PMH nurses must take a leading role in retooling the therapeutic relationship and partnering with clients, families, and caregivers to improve the quality of life and well-being of those dealing with mental illness and substance use disorders. To accomplish this essential task, the PMH nursing workforce must be robust and distributed throughout the United States.

Thermoelectric Bi2Te3bulk alloys were directionally solidified successfully at the pulling rate ranging from 1 μm/s to 50 μm/s under a high temperature gradient of 200 K/cm. Preferred crystal orientations of (0 1 5), (1 0 10) and (1 1 0) faces appeared at the pulling rate of 50 μm/s. In the Bi2Te3alloys directionally solidified at 5 μm/s, the maximum Seebeck coefficient of -253 μV/K was obtained and the maximum electrical resistivity of 2.26 mΩ•cm was measured at 300 K. Besides, the optimum Power Factor (PF) value reached 3.83×10-3W/K2m at 1 μm/s and the measured results show that the thermoelectric Bi2Te3 bulk alloys grown at low growth rates supply the large PF value at ambient temperate, while at high temperature, the alloy grown at 50 μm/s has a better PF value.

Abstract:
We developed a method to fabricate bent fiber probe: heated pulling combined with chemical etching. Based on sampling theory, the resolving power of SNOM relates to the size of the probe tip. If the apex of the probe is smaller, the resolution ability of SNOM is higher. At the same time it can collect more near-field information through bigger cone angle of probe. Through improving the operation and optimizing the parameters of the heated-pulling instrument, we can obtain the probe with bent angle fiber varying from 120-150 degree, the cone angle varying from 40-90 degree and the apex diameter less than 100nm. With this new brush shape of probe, the collecting efficiency for near-field light is improved. That is to say that more near-field information is obtained. The successful ratio of the produce is more than 70%.

The reasonable modeling and optimization of the pulling point position of luffing jib of portal crane can reduce the rack force of portal crane and the power consumption output of the rack and pinion during the luffing process. Based on penalty function optimization, the interior point method is used to optimize the pulling point position of luffing jib. Compared with the initial design, the race force of the luffing jib is reduced to a certain extent. In addition, the consistency between the finite element analysis results and the optimization results can be verified, and the effectiveness of the optimization design is also proved through the finite element analysis of portal crane.

Abstract:
This article assesses the economic impact of visitor expenditure in Macao and the impacts of major expense types to the visitor expenditure. As consumption habits are changing gradually, which can be reflected in the consumption habits of the tourists, we concentrate on the characteristics of visitor expenditure to analyze the factors that drive up the consumption. This article analyzes the relative statistical indicators from 2010 to 2016 in Macao using the ordinary least squares method. According to empirical analysis of this study, 1 Macanese Patacas (MOP) of visitor expenditure can create 7.896 MOP in additional gross domestic product (GDP) in Macao. Moreover, “transportation” and “shopping” present obvious equal status on the pulling function to the visitor expenditure, which indicates that a better transportation system can increase more consumption opportunities. The items of “shopping” and “cosmetics and perfume” have a distinctively high pulling function to the visitor expenditure. This indicates that the power of female consumer group should be emphasized. Compared with other commodities, we observed the obvious pulling function of “local food products,” which shows that the culture-based tourism experience will be helpful to promote the visitor expenditure. In discussing the results, relevant suggestions for developing the diversified tourism in Macao are presented in the article.

Abstract:
This study addressed the effect of balance control problems on the high-heeled women. The specific purposes of this study are to quantify the displacements and velocities of center-of-pressure (COP) of a body during waist pulling perturbation and to compare the differences between the bare-feet and the high-heeled. Another purpose of the study is to identify the effects of a high-heeled posture on electromyography (EMG) activities and muscle fatigue. We used a waist pulling system which has three different magnitudes to sway the subjects. The COP displacement of a high-heeled posture was about twice as much as that of bare-feet posture. Also the COP velocity of a high-heeled posture became about twice as much as that of bare-feet posture. Muscle fatigue could be identified by the shift of the median frequency (MF) of the EMG power spectrum toward lower frequencies. Median frequency of the EMG power spectrum from tibialis anterior was reduced more rapidly during high-heeled situation than during bare-feet situation. COP kinematics and muscle fatigue analysis in postural balance researches are considered to provide useful information in understanding the balance control mechanism of women’s high-heeled posture.

Abstract:
A new structure of microwave field effect transistor Dielectric Resonator Oscillator (DRO) working at 8.5GHz is presented with negative resistance theory and harmonic balance theory. In order to magnify the output power and enhance the load pulling, a Buffer Amplifier (BA) is designed after the DRO. The nonlinearity and linearity of this structure are analyzed and optimized with commercial software ADS. Then the properties of this structure are simulated with commercial software HFSS. Simulation results show that DRO co-integrated with BA a high output power of 13.426dBm, at an oscillation frequency of 8.5GHz.

Abstract:
In mine high-power belt conveyor, the driven system commonly used multi-motor-driven program. After starting the conveyor, the lower power is needed in normal operating of the conveyor, this appears serious “big horse pulling small car” phenomenon. Therefore, using a new overrunning clutch, when normal operating of belt conveyor is ensured by some motors, you can cut off a group or two groups of gearbox and motor running. This will not only reduce the load of the belt conveyor roller, and reduce energy consumption of gearbox and motor, and also improve the electric system power factor. It means significant energy saving there.

Abstract:
FOLLOWING a referendum on 23 June 2016 in which 52% of voters (38% of the total electorate) had expressed a preference for the UK to leave the EU, the Government announced that it would start the process of withdrawal, in accordance with Article 50 of the Treaty on European Union (“TEU”), by notifying the European Council of the UK's decision, exercising the Government's prerogative power to conduct foreign relations. A number of legal challenges were fast-tracked to the Supreme Court. In R. (Miller) v Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union (Birnie and others intervening) [2017] UKSC 5; [2017] 2 W.L.R. 583 after an expedited hearing, the Court decided two issues: (1) whether the Government could exercise its power under the royal prerogative to give notice, or needed an Act of Parliament to authorise the giving of notice; and (2) whether the Government required the consent of devolved legislatures in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales before giving notice or introducing to Parliament a Bill authorising the giving of notice. The Court sat unprecedentedly with all 11 serving members. On issue (1), the Court, by an 8–3 majority, held that an Act of Parliament would be required in order to authorise the giving of notice. On issue (2), the Court unanimously held that there was no legal requirement for consent by the devolved institutions.
