This paper is concerned with methods to determine the resultant impact load pulse on test structures during gas gun tests. The muzzle of a gas gun carries an instrumented target support designed to measure force-time-pulses of the impact event on structures mounted on the device. The target during impact is supported on two long slender metallic bars with axial strain gauges. By measuring the impact strain pulses in the support bars and assuming longitudinal wave propagation, it is possible to determine the impact load pulse on the target. Titanium isopropoxide (Ti[OCH(CH3)2]4) was the precursor and deionized water (DIW) was the solvent and reducer for sub-micrometer particle production in microwave technique. TiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized in pulsed laser ablation liquid medium after a 5-minute preparation period in a 1200 W commercial microwave and a 1-hour annealing at 400°C. A Q-switched Nd:YAG laser with 480 mJ energy per pulse was used for 100, 200, and 300 pulses. Multiple methods, including XRD, BET, and ED

SUMMARY The rate of occurrence of anomalous ultra-low frequency electromagnetic (ULFEM) pulses has been claimed to have increased days to weeks prior to the M5.4 2007 and M4.0 2010 Alum Rock earthquakes. We re-examine the previously reported ultra-low frequency (ULF: 0.01–10 Hz) magnetic data recorded at a QuakeFinder site located 9 km from the earthquake hypocentre, and compare to data from a nearby Stanford-USGS site located 42 km from the hypocentre, to analyse the characteristics of the pulses and assess their origin. Abstract When a nuclear accident occurs, the radiation dose rate is often high, and the count rate of nuclear pulses will be very large and these pulses are easy to pile up. Under this condition, digital trapezoidal shaping is suitable for use in digital multi-channel analyzers. Because of the high-count rate of the nuclear pulses and the relatively complex trapezoidal shaping algorithm, the implementation speed of the shaping algorithm will be crucial. If the algorithm is implemented with an embedded microprocessor, nuclear pulse shaping calculation will be operated slowly generally. High cou

This paper presents the results of experimental tests of the impulse response of selected, essential components of a drone. A standardized lightning pulse that is often used during immunity tests of electronic devices in the aviation industry was applied. A single-stroke voltage impulse generator, MIG0618SS, was capable of producing the desired pulses. The input voltage was injected into selected electronic circuits of the drone system and pulses were observed in different parts of the machine. This allowed us to build a model based on the transmittance of the circuits most exposed to lightnin

This study introduces an innovative two-range, 12-stage Marx pulse generator employing thyristor switches designed specifically for the electroporation of biological cells. The generator consists of two module capacitors of different capacitances (1 μF and 0.25 μF), which enable the generation of electrical pulses with different durations and amplitudes of up to 25 kV. Safety aspects, including overcurrent and overvoltage protection mechanisms, are implemented in both the software and the hardware. A pulse-width multiplexing method for reducing the nuisance-alarm rate of a phase-sensitive optical time-domain reflectometer ( ϕ -OTDR) is described. In this method, light pulses of different pulse-widths are injected into the sensing fiber; the data acquired at different pulse-widths are regarded as the outputs of different sensors; and these data are then processed by a multisensor data fusion algorithm. In laboratory tests with a sensing fiber on a vibrating table, the effects of pulse-width on the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the ϕ -OTDR data are observed. Furthermore, by utilizing the

The pulse duration in short-pulse schemes for Self-Amplified Spontaneous Emission Free Electron Lasers (SASE FELs) is limited by the FEL coherence time. A recently proposed concept allows to overcome the coherence time barrier and to obtain much shorter pulses. When the lasing part of an electron bunch is much shorter than the coherence time, one can suppress the radiation in the long main undulator while preserving microbunching within that short lasing slice. Then, a short radiation pulse is produced in a relatively short radiator. A possible suppression method, an excessive reverse undulato

Study on the objectivity of pulse diagnosis is inseparable from the instruments to obtain the pulse waves. The single-pulse diagnostic instrument is relatively mature in acquiring and analysing pulse waves, but the pulse information captured by single-pulse diagnostic instrument is limited. The sensor arrays can simulate rich sense of the doctor’s fingers and catch multipoint and multiparameter array signals. How to analyse the acquired array signals is still a major problem in the objective research of pulse diagnosis. The goal of this study was to establish methods for analysing arrayed puls

Abstract Objective. Analysis of relative changes in the shapes of pulse waveforms of intracranial pressure (ICP) and transcranial Doppler cerebral blood flow velocity (CBFV) may provide information on intracranial compliance. We tested this hypothesis, introducing an index named the ratio of pulse slopes (RPS) that is based on inclinations of the ascending parts of the ICP and CBFV pulse waveforms. It has hypothetically a simple interpretation: a value of 1 indicates good compliance and a value less than 1, reduced compliance. Here, we investigated the usefulness of RPS for assessment of intra

Abstract This study aimed to estimate the compressive strength of concrete in an existing building using non-destructive testing methods, specifically the hammer test and ultrasonic pulse velocity. The hammer test employed two types of tools, type N, which reads the rebound number (R), and another type that reads the rebound coefficient (Q) value. In the study, 40 column samples were tested, revealing concrete quality measurements of 30.5 MPa and 27.8 MPa obtained from hammer test type N and rebound coefficient (Q), respectively. Meanwhile, the ultrasonic pulse velocity reading was 3288 m/s. T
