Abstract:

Taking a long view of mycological history, this essay considers how studies of fungal life have modeled fugitive, cryptic, and queer forms of belonging that open the body and the body politic to modes of collectivity that trouble the equation of ecology with holistic closure. Turning to Arthur Machen's The Hill of Dreams, this essay shows how the geographies of desire and belonging created through fungal intimacies make it impossible to speak of either the self-contained individual or ecology in the singular. Open and plural, selves and worlds proliferate, contaminate, and interpenetrate through the infectious touch of fungal relations.

Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to determine the acceptability of society to pulpy RGL orange juice and value-added products of pulpy RGL orange juice. The research design used was completely randomized design (CRD) factorial with two treatments which were extraction methods (A) and the addition of dyes (B). Results of research showed that orange processing into pulpy RGL orange juice by the addition of dyes and using a press and extractor were not significantly different in organoleptic. Processing pulpy RGL orange juice from 50 kg of raw material could produce 127 liters juice and can increase the value-added orange RGL 16,300,-/kg with ratio 64 %.

Poetka Stanisława Szadurska była spadkobierczynią wielopokoleniowego rodu, któremu majątki w Inflantach nadał król Zygmunt III Waza. Jej przodkowie pełnili wiele wysokich urzędów w I Rzeczypospolitej. Liryka Szadurskiej współtworzy młodopolską poezję, zwłaszcza nurt witalistyczny. Dużą rolę odgrywa w niej natura poddana psychizacji oraz pejzaże wewnętrzne, zawierające często konkretne elementy rodzimego, inflanckiego krajobrazu. Pojawiają się też motywy związane z historią rodu i motywy baśniowe. Wiele miejsca zajmuje liryka miłosna, którą szczególnie chwalił Bolesław Leśmian w recenzji tomu W południe. Szadurska zmarła tragicznie w 1918 roku, broniąc rodzinnego majątku, Puszy przed najazdem bolszewickim.

Abstract:

<p class="abstract">We report an interesting case of an eight year old boy presenting with a depressed atrophic wrinkled plaque on cheek for last three years. The clinical finding of wrinkling and soft and pulpy consistency of lesion raised the possibility of elastolytic disorder but was ruled on the basis of normal elastic tissue on Verhoff stain. The histopathological findings were consistent with atrophoderma, but the lesion lacked the classical clinical features, thereby posing a diagnostic dilemma<span lang="EN-IN">.</span></p>

The genus Fagraea Thunberg (1782: 132), belonging to the family Gentianaceae, is represented by 70 species in the world (Struwe et al. 2002). It is distributed in India, Sri Lanka, Sumatra, Malay Peninsula, Borneo, New Guinea, French Polynesia, China, Philippines and Australia. Clarke (1885) reported 5 species from the present political boundary of India, of which 2 species were recorded by Gamble (1921) from South India. The genus includes glabrous epiphytic trees or shrubs, with simple, opposite and coriaceous leaves, fragrant flowers and pulpy berries with a persistent calyx.

Abstract:

Candlenut is a spice that is used as an ingredient in the manufacturing process of the food and cosmetic industry, the obstacles faced in breaking the candlenut shell are that the time and energy required is still too large so that the splitting of the candlenut shell is less efficient and there are still many farmers who still use traditional candlenut crackers. with a driving force in the form of human power. In addition, the results of the quality of the candlenut cracking are not good because there are still many broken hazelnut seeds after the process of breaking the candlenut shell. These constraints add to the time, cost and effort in the process of breaking candlenut manually. From some of the constraints that have been described, there is an idea to conduct research to find out how the rotation of the candlenut crusher influences the pressure according to the needs and optimizes the rotation variation of the candlenut crusher to produce whole candlenuts. The research method used is rotational variation (10 RPM, 20 RPM, and 27 RPM) to pressure 24.928 /????2, 21.952 /????2 and 19.286 /????2 with three treatments and each treatment combination was repeated three times. The parameters of this research are the percentage of whole, split, crushed and unbroken candlenut. The results of this study indicate that variations in rotation and pressure affect the percentage yield of candlenut seeds. The average value of the right rotation to break candlenut seeds with a beating pully A is 20 rpm with a pressure of 24.928 N/m2 to get an average of 60% intact, 20% halved, 0% crushed and 20% unbroken. At the right rotation of the pulley B, which is at 20 Rpm with a pressure of 21.952 N/m2, the average value of breaking is 60%, intact is 60%, split is 30%, destroyed is 0% and does not break is 10%. Meanwhile, at a pressure of 19.286 N/m2 for a rotation of 20 Rpm, the average value of broken, 50% intact, 0% halved, 20% crushed and 30% unbroken.

Abstract:

The soil conditioning is a process of fundamental importance during the excavation of tunnels with Earth Pressure Balance full face machine. The soil conditioning is achieved through the addition of foam at the excavation face and in the bulk chamber that modifies the natural soil properties from solid-like to fluid-like with a pulpy behavior. Clearly, a material with a pulpy or fluid-like consistency is not suitable for the construction of embankments of landfill or for other civil purposes. It is therefore important to have a procedure able to identify how long it is necessary before the conditioned soil recovers its geo-mechanical properties, since this knowledge is needed at the design stages from a logistic point of view. The paper proposes and discusses a procedure to find out whether and when the conditioned soil gets back to its original properties. The procedure foresees direct shear tests, vane tests, Proctor tests, and rotational mixer tests at different time schedules from the production of the conditioned soil in the laboratory. The conditioned soil samples have been cured in a controlled environment up to 60 days from the conditioning. Thanks to these tests, it is possible to assess if and when the soil recovers its natural behavior or if a permanent alteration is induced. The proposed procedure has been applied to a standard alluvial soil showing that most of the original properties of the soil are recovered already after seven days from the conditioning. The carried-out tests have shown that the procedure is feasible and easy to apply.

Abstract:

The present study dealt to standardize the post harvesting practices (drying, processing, suitable containers, storage duration) of Celastrus paniculatus seeds in terms of oil content which revealed the sun drying better in comparison to shade and oven drying to maintain quality of seeds. It is also recommended to wash the seeds in water before storage to remove the outer pulpy layer on the seeds which allows the infestation of saw-toothed grain beetle (Oryzaephilus surnemensis Linn.). Moreover, high density polythene (HDPE) bags, 4-5oC and duration of six months were found optimum for storage of Malkangni seeds in term of oil content.

Abstract:

The electronic structures and magnetic properties of Fe-Pt systems were calculated by CASTEP codes, which employed density functional theory, generalized gradient approximation (GGA), Perdew Burke Ernzerh exchange correlation, Pulay density-mixing scheme and Ultra Soft pseudo potential. The band structures and density of states (DOS) were calculated, together with band populations and magnetic properties. The calculated results of α-Fe show the validatiy of this method in predication magnetic properties. It is found that as the Pt concentration increases, Fe 4s and 3d electrons decrease while 4p electrons increase, and the magnetic moment of Fe atom increases. Pt atoms also contribute to the magnetic moment due to polarization. The calculated magnetization agrees with experimental values quite well.

Abstract:

Senna acatlanensis is described and illustrated here. This species is restricted to a forest ecotone in southern Puebla (Mexico), and stands out by its unique large asymmetric flowers, with yellow petals that do not fade away to reddish-brown as they dry-out, heteromorphic and variable androecium; with four staminodes, ten or less fertile stamens; by its pendulous, cylindrical fruits, with chartaceous strigillose valves, and inter-seminal septa with a black-pulpy endocarp that surrounds exareolate seeds. These morphological attributes in addition to leaves with two pairs of leaflets, anthers with beaks, gynoecium multi-ovulated, and transversely oriented seed, turned broadside to the septa placed this new species within the series Bacillares. Illustrations, taxonomic comments, distribution and conservation status are provided with a key to the Mexican species of series Bacillares.

Proses produksi pembuatan pupuk organik masih dilakukan secara manual, sehingga proses pembuatan pupuk membutuhkan waktu yang lama. Proses pencampuran bahan pupuk kandang dilakukan pengadukan dengan menggunakan cangkul sehingga bahan campuran pembuatan pupuk kandang menjadi tidak rata. Agar hasil pencampuran bahan pupuk kandang menjadi rata dan lebih efisien dalam pengerjaan maka dirancang mesin pengaduk pupuk, dan dilanjutkan pelatihan pengoperasian mesin, pelatihan perawatan mesin, dan pelatihan pengemasan produk untuk keperluan peningkatan pemasaran. Mesin pengaduk menggunakan sumber penggerak motor bakar 6 PK berbahan bakar bensin, motor bakar terhubung dengan poros pengaduk menggunakan pully dan belt. Abstract:

Autoimmune thyroid disease is a serious medical problem in which various operative procedures are performed. The objective of the study is to explore the type of applied surgical procedures in autoimmune thyroid disease, advantages and disadvantages of various procedures, and criteria they have to meet. This is retrospective clinical study on 1478 patients, operated for Graves? toxic goiter (117 males and 795 females mean age 37.7) and Hashimoto thyroiditis (27 males and 539 females mean age 50.6) from 1995 to April 2005. Cancer in Graves? disease was found in 61 patients (6.7%), papillary in 60 (occult in 53 or 6.6%) and metastatic in 1, Hashimoto thyroiditis and thyroid cancer was found in 141 patients (24.9%), papillary in 116 or 20.5% (occult in 55 or 9.7%), follicular in 2 (0.3%), Hurthle in 11 (1.9%), medullary in 8 (1.4%), anaplastic in 2 (0.3%) and lymphoma in 3 (0.5%). We performed subtotal bilateral lobectomy in 344 (312 in Graves and 32 in Hashimoto), total lobectomy on one side with subtotal on the oposite in 307 (228 in Graves and 79 in Hashimoto); out of them, in 59 patients, the remnant was left in the region of the upper pole which we called atypic lobectomy. The most common procedure, total or near by total thyroidectomy, performed in 719 (371 in Graves and 349 in Hashimoto). One side lobectomy was performed in 103 patients with Hashimoto thyroiditis. Lymph node dissection was performed in 21 ( 1 in Graves and 20 in Hashimoto), in all central, in 10 lateral functional and in 6 mediastinal, in 15 patients with cancer and in 6 patients with benign disease. There was no operative mortality. In Graves? disease, there was postoperative bleeding in 4 (0.4%), wound infection in 2 (0.2%) recurrent pulsy in 18 (2%) and permanent hypoparathyroidism in 13 (1.4%). In Hashimoto thyroiditis, there was postoperative bleeding in 2 (0.4%), recurrent nerve pulsy in 11 (1.9%) and permanent hypoparathyroidism in 6 (1.1%). The most common surgical procedure in autoimmune thyroid disease is total thyroidectomy which is followed by low complication rate in specialised centers. Cancer is more frequent in Hashimoto than in Graves? disease.

Gangguan yang umum terjadi pada transmisi otomatis antara lain: Pully penggeraknya aus, kopling bergetar dan saat idlle roda belakang masih bergerak. Kerusakan yang terjadi pada kopling diantaranya: sepatu kopling terkikis, drum tidak center dan abrasive. Analisa kemungkinan penyebab utama terjadinya kerusakan adalah gesekan antara drum dengan Sepatu kopling karena beban berlebih. Metode yang digunakan yaitu: Pengamatan secara visual dan perubahan sifat mekanis logam matrial drum melalui uji laboratorium diantaranya: Pengujian komposisi kimia, uji kekerasan dan uji metalografi. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini mendapatkan hasil akhir bahwa kerusakan drum karena panas sehingga kwalitas drum menurun, hal ini terbukti dengan perubahan fisik dan kecenderungan penurunan kekerasan material pada drum. Dengan penambahan luas bidang pendingin drum tidak mengalami kecenderungan penurunan kekerasan material dan tidak mengalami perubahan bentuk. Kata kunci: Sistem Transmisi Otomatis, Drum Kopling, Uji kekerasan dan Uji Metalografi.

Clostridial disease affects cattle across the UK throughout the year but particularly in the grazing season. All clostridial disease occurs when conditions in the muscles or organs become anaerobic allowing for bacterial proliferation and toxin production. The most common pathogenic clostridium is Clostridium chauvoei which causes blackleg and has both skeletal and cardiac forms. Clostridium perfringens is the second most commonly identified clostridia with type A causing enterotoxaemia and type D causing pulpy kidney. Clostridium novyi is the third most common clostridia — type B causes black disease and type D causes bacillary haemoglobinuria. Cattle are most at risk during the grazing season meaning that control and prevention of disease should be particularly targeted at this time of year. The cost of vaccination is so low compared with the cost of losing even one animal that an appropriate protocol should be implemented on all farms.

In its recent history, the philosophy of mind has come to resemble an entry into the genre of Hammer horror or pulpy science fiction. These days it is unusual to encounter a major philosophical work on the mind that is not populated with bats, homunculi, swamp-creatures, cruelly imprisoned genius scientists, aliens, cyborgs, other-worldly twins, self-aware Computer programs, Frankenstein-monster-like ‘Blockheads,’ or zombies. The purpose of this paper is to review the role in the philosophy of mind of one of these fantastic thought-experiments — the zombie — and to reassess the implications of zombie arguments, which I will suggest have been widely misinterpreted. I shall argue that zombies, far from being the enemy of materialism, are its friend; and furthermore that zombies militate against the computational model of consciousness and in favour of more biologically-rooted conceptions, and hence that zombie- considerations support a more reductive kind of physicalism about consciousness than has been in vogue in recent years.

This study evaluated the chemical and volatile composition of hawthorn wines fermented with Saccharomyces cerevisiae A3.12 with and without pulp contact and pectase treatment during fermentation. The results indicated that the addition of pectase was in favor of pH decrease and clarification. The pectase-treated wines had significantly higher concentrations of acetic acid, ethyl octanoate, and isoamyl acetate than the non-enzyme-treated wines. Furthermore, the nonextracted wines had significantly higher concentrations of isoamyl alcohol, phenylethyl alcohol, ethyl lactate, and isoamyl acetate than the extracted wines. The first principal component separated the wine from the nonextracted juice with pectase from other samples based on the higher concentrations of isoamyl acetate (0.14 μg/g), diethyl butanedioate (0.07 μg/g), 2-phenylethyl acetate (0.23 μg/g), and acetoin (1.47 μg/g). The wine from nonextracted pulpy juice with pectase was significantly more aromatic than the others and 26.2% of the consumers were found to be willing to purchase this product.

Samcon merupakan perusahaan yang memproduksi kapasitor yang kegiatan produksinya terbagi menjadi beberapa proses, dimana masing-masing proses dikerjakan oleh departemen yang berbeda.Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tingkat kerusakan, mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor penyebab kerusakan serta merekomendasikan tindakan perbaikan. Metode yang digunakan yaitu metode Statistical Quality Control (SQC) yang dilakukan dengan alat bantu statistik diantaranya: checksheet, histogram, diagram pareto, peta kendali dan fishbone diagram. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kerusakan produk terbanyak terjadi di departemen coating dan didominasi oleh tiga jenis kerusakan yaitu coating NG (59,71%), popo (11,71%) dan doriogiri (10,43%), hasil analisis peta kendali untuk jumlah total keluar sebesar 46,7%. Tindakan yang dilakukan untuk meminimalkan kerusakan yaitu dengan mengadakan training and education untuk operator, membuat cooling zone, memeriksa penyangga deji sebelum digunakan, membersihkan heater dan pully secara berkala, melakukan perawatan dan pemeriksaan bearing, menambah fasilitas pendingin ruangan, mengganti wheel, memeriksa powder sebelum digunakan, dan mengganti sensor pengisian powder dengan sistem timer.

AbstractPassion fruit (Passiflora edulis flavicarpa) is a seasonal, tropical, pulpy fruit, known for a rich source of Vitamin C, antioxidants, and delicate flavor. Presently, freezing technique has been used to preserve the pulp. This article reports alternate method of preservation by foam mat convective air drying of fruit pulp under moderate temperatures. The optimization of process parameters, particularly air temperature, was done with subsequent mathematical modeling of the process and assessment of quality parameters by retention of physicochemical properties and antioxidant capacity of the fruit powder. Sixty degree Celsius was found to be the optimum temperature, and Henderson and Pabis model showed best fit to the drying characteristics data (R2 = 0.99). Diffusivity characteristics of moisture during drying were also studied. As drying temperature was increased, total color difference and rehydration ratio decreased, whereas non-enzymatic browning index, total phenolic content, and total antioxidant activity showed increase that was attributed to inhibition of oxidative enzymes and biochemical changes. Dried passion fruit powder showed overall acceptability in terms of organoleptic properties and total antioxidant activity.

Increasing urbanization and deforestation have enhanced the opportunities of contact between humans and monkeys and the impact of human activities on primate behavior is receiving growing attention. This study explores whether activity budgets and diet of a group of capuchin monkeys (Cebus libidinosus) inhabiting the area of the swimming pools of the National Park of Brasília is affected by the presence of visitors providing food to them. During one year, both in the dry and the wet seasons, we scored capuchins' behavior via scan sampling every ten minutes. Results showed that this group spent less time foraging for wild foods than other comparable groups living in similar habitats. Moreover, capuchins relied more on human food during the dry season, when pulpy fruits were less available, than in the wet season. Our findings confirm other studies on different monkey species that have shown that access to human food decreases the time spent foraging for wild food and the home range size. They also show that capuchins are able to modify their diet, to exploit alternative food sources, and to change their activity budget in response to the availability of new food opportunities and to seasonal food availability.
