Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to determine the suitability of using interactive videodisc for developing community based simulations for students with moderate disabilities. A multiple baseline design across students was used to assess the effects of the training package, that made use of an interactive videodisc-based simulation, on the students' skills to locate and purchase an item in simulated and natural convenience store settings. Three adolescents with moderate disabilities were taught how to access the equipment, discriminate items, and shop for snack items in a convenience store. During baseline and intervention phases, purchasing skills were assessed daily in simulated settings and weekly in natural settings. Measures included the number of extra actions to locate an item, percentage of assistance from the teacher, and number of purchasing steps completed correctly. All students learned how to access the equipment, to discriminate visuals of shopping items, and to interact in the simulated store setting. In addition for the simulated settings, students demonstrated a decrease in the number of extra actions needed to locate an item and an increase in the number of purchasing steps performed correctly.

Abstract The article presents the description of the current systems of training military aircraft pilots. Particular attention has been paid to the trends of change aimed at reducing the cost of purchasing school aircraft and the burden on the entire training and aircraft operation system. Over the past 3 years, the annual Pilot Training Conference in London has dominated the issue of increasing the effectiveness of training pilots of combat aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicle operators. The results of training experiments were presented on this conference, which presented the abandonment of intermediate airplanes training process of military pilots. The results of different researches allowed to state, that on a well-designed school airplane, such as the Pilatus PC-21, one can train both basic and advanced trainings and then train pilots directly to the combat aircraft. Of course, all this training process should be intensively supported by the modern mission simulator of the 5th generation. This allows the thesis to be a future, innovative training system that significantly reduces the training costs of a combat aircraft pilot without affecting the quality of the training.

PurposeResearch on purchasing managers and their skills requirements supports the training and education of purchasing professionals. This paper offers an in-depth analytical review of the purchasing skills reported in the supply chain management (SCM) literature. The purpose of this paper is to highlight the most important skills and factors that influence these skills.Design/methodology/approachThis paper employs a systematic literature review methodology. Two databases, Scopus and Web of Science, are searched for relevant articles. The selected journal articles are used as sources to obtain a view not only on the relevant purchasing and supply management (P/SM) skills, but also on factors that emphasize certain P/SM skills. This paper also summarizes the ten skills ranked as most important (often described as the “top ten”) among the sample articles.FindingsThe paper highlights the essential skills for purchasing professionals, verified both by their frequent appearances in rankings and by citation frequency in the literature. Generic managerial skills, such as communication, cost analysis, teamwork, problem-solving, negotiation, influencing, and persuasion, as well as information technology skills, received the most attention in the literature and rankings of the “top ten” P/SM skills. This paper provides a refined categorization of purchasing skills, which have merged recently with other discussed skills, such as political and entrepreneurial ones, into this categorization. This paper identifies factors that affect purchasing managers’ skills requirements.Originality/valueThis paper presents a structured overview of 57 peer-reviewed articles from high-quality journals about purchasing skills. The review contributes to the purchasing skills literature by showing the most relevant skills and the factors that influence skills requirements. These factors also provide arenas for further research related to purchasing skills.

Abstract:
The study explores the skills set development and its job market relevance of the HND (Higher National Diploma) purchasing and supply programme in Ghana, using a grounded theory methodology. Semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions, observation and documentary analysis were used in the data collection, whereas thematic analysis was applied in the data analyses process. The research findings supported the widely held public perception that skills mismatch exist on the Ghanaian labour market. Besides, the HND Purchasing and Supply practitioners were found to lack managerial skills, confidence (psyche), analytical skills, critical thinking skills, specification development skills, computer skills in terms of data entry, word processing, excel and power point capabilities. Unfortunately, the study did not establish the existence of any practical on the job training in industry to resolve the identified skills deficiency. Although the research revealed that the Public Procurement Authority ( PPA) has been organizing some internships for HND Purchasing and Supply graduates, they still lack hands-on/ practical experience. Nonetheless, the study has confirmed the relevance to practice of the skills set imparted through HND Purchasing and Supply programme. Staffolani, Giacomo, Deborah Bentivoglio, and Adele Finco. "Consumers’ Purchasing Determinants Towards Mountain Food Products." Sustainability 14, no. 14 (July 6, 2022): 8282. http://dx.doi.org/10.3390/su14148282.

Full text
Abstract:
Mountain agriculture is a very important source of ecosystem services, such as cultural heritage, traditional knowledge, and biodiversity. However, traditional farming practices in those areas, particularly dairy livestock, are in sharp decline. For this reason, it is fundamental to find a way to improve sustainability using a holistic approach as indicated by the European Green Deal and Farm to Fork strategies. The “Mountain product” label can be a suitable tool to reach this aim. However, studies on consumers’ opinions concerning mountain food products are scarce. To fill this gap, a logit model was adopted in this study to define factors that influence consumers’ purchase intention toward mountain products. Additionally, the open-ended contingent valuation method was used to estimate consumer willingness to pay for milk labelled “mountain product”. The paper highlighted that consumers are interested in buying mountain products and that they are willing to pay a premium price for these products. However, the “mountain product” label is still poorly recognised and applied. Policy makers and institutions should invest more in the training of farmers, so as to improve their knowledge of this label. Furthermore, it is necessary to advertise this label to consumers to support quality local production.

Abstract:
Microfinance institutions provide business training to its clients/owner managers to start and expand businesses. The literature reveals that business training given by MFIs helps improve the performance of both the MFIs and its clients (i.e., Owner managers of microenterprises). In effect, due to business training, MFIs can have improved loan repayment rates, client retention, and client satisfaction, while the owner-managers can have better sales, profits, and skills. However, despite the importance of business training to both MFIs and owner-managers’ performance, there is a dearth of research undertaken to explore the effectiveness of business training intervention in microfinance setting. In this study, effectiveness is defined in terms of the impact of business training on the performance of MFIs and owner-managers (i.e., training – performance dyad). Hence, the purpose of this exploratory study is to examine the factors affecting the effectiveness of business training given by the MFIs in Sri Lanka. A multiple case study method was used to carry out the study. The study was guided by the Industrial Marketing Purchasing (IMP) group framework. Thus, the study looks at how operating environment, atmosphere, interacting parties and the interaction process affect the effectiveness of the training intervention. The findings reveal that lack of money and low client demand for the operating environment influence training effectiveness. Further, it was identified that factors such as better loan repayment and new venture creation motivate the MFIs to provide business training, whereas better business knowledge and business performance motivate the owner-managers to receive business training. These motivators are part of the atmosphere that has a bearing on the effectiveness of business training. The findings further show that the characteristics of the interacting parties (i.e., trainers and trainees in this study) could affect business training effectiveness. Thus, the trainer’s expertise, trainer being internal or external, and trainer being full time or part-time can influence the training-performance dyad. Further, the owner-managers’ expertise and organizational structure could also affect the effectiveness of training. Several factors enhance the interaction between trainers and owner-managers. They are the trainer’s expertise and the owner-manager/client, trainer readiness, communication, follow-up procedures, feedback, and owner manager’s willingness. Further, location, duration of the training, charging a fee or not, the voluntary/compulsory nature of training, and the provision of subsidies also could enhance the interaction between the trainers and the owner-managers. Therein, this study contributes to the knowledge domain of microfinance. The findings are useful to practitioners and policymakers in microfinance as they can look at the IMP framework to identify factors that could enhance the business training-performance dyad. In this study, the client and the owner-manager are used interchangeably. Keywords: Microfinance, Business Training, Business Development Services, Case Study Method, IMP Framework.

Abstract:
Universities in Saudi Arabia have been taking urgent measures to boost research production in order to be featured in global university rankings. In addition to the many sincere efforts being made to develop a national research enterprise and culture, one of the more dubious practices in this regard is the remote, part-time employment of international highly-cited researchers to publish with a second (Saudi) institutional affiliation. This practice privileges the purchasing of internationally-produced research while ignoring a substantial amount of scholarly output produced within the country in Arabic. The Kingdom could benefit far more from diverting resources instead to supporting research produced locally: by providing rigorous training in international research methods, sponsoring the translation of Arabic research output into English, and in the process educating Saudi researchers about the importance of peer review, academic influence through citation, and ultimately the production of high quality research to an international standard.

Abstract:
In retail, emotion-fueled impulse purchases constitute a large part of everyday consumer purchases. Thus, emotion regulation training could benefit consumers to help to control their impulsive buying. Yet, emotion regulation strategies are not unequivocally associated with positive effects. Since research investigating emotion regulation in consumer contexts is scarce, the goal of this study is to examine whether emotion regulation training could be a valuable tool for consumers to help to limit impulse spending. Customers at a local supermarket were recruited and randomly assigned to three groups: re-appraisal (n = 50), suppression (n = 50) and neutral (n = 50). The results show that re-appraisal does not differ affect impulse purchasing whilst the suppression group made significantly more impulse purchases and spent more compared to the neutral group. Yet, trait re-appraisal was associated with reduced impulsive purchasing in consumers with higher levels of negative emotions. The findings confirm that suppression appears a maladaptive form of emotion regulation and suggest that re-appraisal training could be a valuable tool for consumers, particularly for consumers with high levels of negative affect

Abstract:
Modern deep learning systems like PyTorch and Tensorflow are able to train enormous models with billions (or trillions) of parameters on a distributed infrastructure. These systems require that the internal nodes have the same memory capacity and compute performance. Unfortunately, most organizations, especially universities, have a piecemeal approach to purchasing computer systems resulting in a heterogeneous infrastructure, which cannot be used to compute large models. The present work describes HetSeq, a software package adapted from the popular PyTorch package that provides the capability to train large neural network models on heterogeneous infrastructure. Experiments with language translation, text and image classification shows that HetSeq scales over heterogeneous systems. Abstract:
PurposeImplementing sustainability into global supply networks remains a challenge for companies. Purchasing and supply management (PSM) interacts closely with supply network actors, thus influencing how the firm’s value creation is delivered. While previous sustainable PSM (SPSM) research has shed light on how to manage sustainability on an organizational level, the individual competences PSM professionals require are less understood. The paper aims to discuss this issue.Design/methodology/approachThe authors conducted a systematic literature review to determine the current research coverage of specific competences and knowledge required to implement sustainability. The authors complemented this with data from 46 interviews with practitioners. From coding the data with NVivo, a first comprehensive competence overview for SPSM was developed.FindingsThe literature review results, complemented with interview data, highlight that functional-oriented, cognition-oriented, social-oriented and meta-oriented competences form part of a comprehensive SPSM competence model. We propose a framework that includes these, and integrates two behavioral moderators on the organizational level, i.e. situational enabling, as well as empowerment and obligation.Research limitations/implicationsWhile the proposed framework provides a basic first systematization of SPSM competences, further research is needed to extend it. There is ample opportunity to shed further light on both individual and organizational-level factors that influence the application of SPSM competences, and therefore SPSM behavior.Practical implicationsThe results have implications for higher education and professional training programs in companies. The framework provides an overview of competences needed for SPSM. The discussion highlights the need to apply education and training methods for different types of competences that are suitable for conveying implicit knowledge apart from explicit knowledge.Originality/valueAdressing a current research gap in sustainability-related competences in PSM, the overall framework highlights SPSM competences of interest to both scholars and managers alike.

Abstract:
Abstract Shooting with the available weapons is a determining and defining element of armed combat, and the mysteries, practice, art and, above all, the science of shooting are learnt during shooting training, a discipline of overwhelming importance in the process of training troops and, implicitly, their preparation for combat. Nowadays, the construction of (fire) weapons has reached unprecedented technical and technological levels, with lethal and destructive accuracy and capability that were unimaginable a few decades ago. In this context, the maximum exploitation of the characteristics of the available weapons and the training of instictual shooting is an indispensable requirement coming from the reality of the military conflicts in which the Romanian military have taken part, a reality that has generated the need to develop the existing training facilities in order to create the best conditions for training the necessary skills. This development can be done either by purchasing training systems incorporating state-of-the-art technologies, at high cost, or by modernizing the existing ones at relatively lower costs and bringing them to the level of the accepted training requirements.

Abstract:
Crowd-sourcing is a prototype where persons cum organisations acquire facts such as ideas, micro-tasks, financial, vote casting associated to items and offerings from individuals of large, open and rapidly-evolving nature. It entails utilization of web acquired and distribute work between members to get a collective result. The software of classification tasks in crowd-sourcing is a counter step due to the inclined reputation of crowd-sourcing market. Dynamic Label Acquisition and Answer Aggregation (DLTA) crowd-sourcing framework accomplishes the classification assignment in a promising manner. But most of the current works are now not in a position to supply an budget allocation for labels due to the fact they do not make the most the Label inference and acquisition phase. In addition, label mismatch and multi-label tasks are the different issues encountered in the current works. To overcome, it is proposed to undertake Random Forest Algorithm (RFA) for classification in crowd-sourcing. The goal of this work is to enhance the crowd-sourcing classification task efficiency with Dynamic Resource Algorithm. RFA is activated by means of developing a multitude of decision tree at training time and consequences with the training and it applies a bagging approach to produce the last end result with more accuracy.

Abstract:
BackgroundSurgical procedures are complex and susceptible to human error. Individual surgical skill correlates with improved patient outcomes demonstrating that surgical proficiency is vitally important for patient safety. Evidence demonstrates that simulation training improves laparoscopic surgical skills; however, projects to implement and integrate laparoscopic simulation into core surgical curricula have had varied success. One barrier to successful implementation has been the lack of awareness and prioritisation of simulation initiatives by key stakeholders.ObjectiveTo determine the knowledge and perceptions of patients and hospital managers on laparoscopic surgery and simulation training in patient safety and healthcare.MethodA qualitative study was conducted in the Southwest of England. 40 semistructured interviews were undertaken with patients attending general gynaecology clinics and general surgical and gynaecology hospital managers.ResultsSix key themes identified included: positive expectations of laparoscopic surgery; perceptions of problems and financial implications of laparoscopic surgery; lack of awareness of difficulties with surgical training; desire for laparoscopic simulation training and competency testing for patient benefit; conflicting priorities of laparoscopic simulation in healthcare; and drawbacks of surgical simulation training. Patients and managers were largely unaware of the risks of laparoscopic surgery and challenges for training. Managers highlighted conflicting financial priorities when purchasing educational equipment. Patients stated that they would have greater confidence in a surgeon who had undertaken mandatory surgical simulation training and perceived purchasing simulation equipment to be a high priority in the National Health Services. Most patients and hospital managers believed trainees should pass an examination on a simulator prior to live operating.ConclusionsCompetency-based mandatory laparoscopic simulation was strongly supported by the majority of stakeholders to augment the initial learning curve of surgeons.

Abstract:
The paper analyzes the impact of retail transformation on the consumers’ expectations and behavior in the electronic environment and identifies the main directions of digitalization of the marketing activities of domestic retail enterprises at each stage of the purchasing decision-making process. It also systematizes the consumer expectations in the context of the digital transformation of retail, which made it possible to establish the importance of managing customer acquisition for retailers and demonstrated how technology changes the way customers purchase. The results of an online study of the impact of marketing efforts in retail outlets to highlight digital transformation tools at every stage of consumer decision-making by consumers are presented and the main directions of digitalization of marketing activities of domestic retail enterprises are summarized. The legitimacy of taking consumer expectations into account when determining the impact on the business model of retailers, returning it to the plane of mobility, digitalizing the purchase process, and the integration of digital and physical trading, has been proven. It is suggested to consider the main areas of digital transformation as digital interaction with customers, innovation in the development of products and services, distribution channels, marketing and sales; digital implementation, risk optimization, strengthening corporate control, intelligent information management and customer service, managing customer and contact center experience, customer relationship management. This made it possible to specify promising areas of digital transformation in the retail industry, in particular, optimizing human resources, creating new ways of cooperation, attracting labor and assistance (flexible work, social cooperation, corporate cooperation, integrated communications), as well as employee training for the retail industry.

Abstract:
In this study, we carried out seven distinct and independent rounds of correspondence tests to detect discriminatory behavior in domains and markets in France that have not previously been subjected to much investigation in the literature. The study areas included: purchasing a used car; purchasing an auto insurance policy; applying for a car loan; purchasing supplemental health insurance; enrolling in an adult training program; purchasing an existing small business; and renting vacation accommodations. Access to these items and services are associated with either potential pathways to a middle-class job or hallmarks of a middle-class living standard. We seek to discern evidence of discriminatory behavior according to the criteria of age, gender, ethnic origin, and the reputation of the neighborhood of residence (advantaged or disadvantaged). We discern statistically significant patterns in our observed statistical outcome (callback rates) in all seven markets, which we interpret as possibly indicative of discriminatory behavior; however, the criteria, the magnitudes, and the signs differ from one market to another. One finding is that differential treatment based on ethnicity and the reputation of the neighborhood (i.e., neutral or disadvantaged) might not be as systematic and mutually reinforcing as they are frequently perceived to be in the domains of labor and housing markets.

Abstract:
The state has its purchasing power evidenced. Therefore, by using it strategically, it can influence the market, creating a demand for sustainable goods and services, through the inclusion of sustainable criteria in their purchasing and contracting process. On the other hand, the purchasing process has the action of public contracting agents as decisive element for the application of this process. Thus, it is relevant to know the perception of the agents on the subject, in view of possible obstacles to its implementation, even though the process is legitimized by State regulations. Therefore, the objective of this study was to analyze the perception of public contracting agents regarding sustainable public procurements and their application, by adopting a descriptive character with quantitative approach. The data were collected during the 2nd International Summit on Sustainable Public Contracting, held in Brasília, DF. The sample consisted of 77 public servants. The analysis used descriptive statistics and cluster analysis. The results indicate the possibility of inefficient training and qualification of the agents, as well as the recognition by the agents that the cultural factor is the main obstacle for the application of sustainable public procurements.

Abstract:
Due to the uncertainty in oil markets, this paper proposes a novel approach for oil purchasing and distribution optimization by incorporating price and demand prediction, i.e., the prediction-based oil purchasing-and-distribution optimization model. In particular, the proposed method bridges the latest information technology and decision-making technique by introducing the recently proposed information technology (i.e., extreme learning machine (ELM)) into the oil purchasing-and-distribution optimization model. Two main steps are involved: market prediction and planning optimization in the proposed model. In market prediction, the ELM technique is employed to provide fast training time and accurate forecasting results for oil prices and demands. In planning optimization, two objectives of general profit maximization and inventory risk minimization are considered; and the most popular multi-objective evolutionary algorithm (MOEA), nondominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA-II), is implemented to search approximate Pareto optimal solutions. For illustration and verification, the motor gasoline market in the US is focused on as the study sample, and the experimental results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed prediction-based optimization approach over its benchmark models (without market prediction and/or planning optimization), in terms of the highest profit and the lowest risk.

Full text
Abstract:
Aim/Purpose: This study identifies the elements that influence intentions to purchase from the most popular Arabic online classifieds platform, OpenSooq.com. Background: Online purchasing has become popular among consumers in the past two decades, with perceived risk and trust playing key roles in consumers’ intention to purchase online. Methodology: A questionnaire survey was conducted of Internet users from three Jordanian districts to investigate how they used the OpenSooq platform in their e-commerce activities. In total, 202 usable responses were collected, and the data were analyzed with PLS-SEM for hypothesis testing and model validation. Contribution: Though online trading is increasingly popular, the factors that impact the behavior of consumers when purchasing high-value products have not been adequately investigated. Therefore, this study examined the factors affecting perceived risk, and the potential impact of privacy concerns on the perceived risk of online smartphone buyers. The study framework can help explore online behavior in various situations to ascertain similarities and differences and probe other aspects of online buying. Findings: Perceived risk negatively correlates with online purchasing behavior and trust. However, privacy concern and perceived risk, transaction security and trust, and trust and online purchasing behavior exhibited positive correlations. Recommendations for Practitioners: Customers can complete and retain online purchases in a range of settings illuminated in this study’s methods and procedures. Moreover, businesses can manage their IT arrangements to make Internet shopping more convenient and build processes for online shopping that allow for engagement, training, and ease of use, thus improving their customers’ online purchasing behavior. Recommendation for Researchers: Given the insight into the understanding and integration of variables including perceived risk, privacy issues, trust, transaction security, and online purchasing behavior, academics can build on the groundwork of this research paradigm to investigate underdeveloped countries, particularly Jordan, further. Impact on Society: Understanding the characteristics that influence online purchasing behavior can help countries realize the full potential of online shopping, particularly the benefits of safe, fast, and low-cost financial transactions without the need for an intermediary. Future Research: Future research can examine the link between online purchase intent, perceived risk, privacy concerns, trust, and transaction security to see if the findings of this study in Jordan can be applied to a broader context in other countries.

Abstract:
This study aims to identify the gender disparities between men and women as purchasing actors in the tuna value chain in South Central provinces, thereby suggesting gender-sensitive policies towards gender equity, women’s empowerment, and sustainable tuna fisheries management. The study was conducted with the aid of a set of structured questionnaires executed through personal interview surveys. Tam Quan and Quy Nhon fishing ports in Binh Dinh province were chosen as study sites for conducting gender analysis at the tuna value chain's purchasing stage in the South Central provinces of Vietnam. Forty respondents were directly interviewed at their home or at the fishing ports in Binh Dinh province in May 2020, of which are ten middlemen and nine middlewomen purchasing yellowfin and bigeye tunas at Tam Quan fishing port; and twelve middlewomen and nine female traders purchasing skipjack tuna at Quy Nhon fishing port. This study used gender analysis tools such as the Harvard, Moser, and the USAID's six gender dimensions to identify gender differences between men and women in the tuna purchasing stage in productive, reproductive, and community managing roles. Some policy recommendations for improving gender equity, women's empowerment, and sustainable tuna fisheries management were proposed, including (i) describe the importance of women's reproductive role in gender-responsive strategies; (ii) establish tuna trading management board at the fishing port to collect information on the needs, issues, and interests of purchasing actors; (iii) organize training courses on tuna business and management skills at the fishing ports during the low season for the full participation of middle-actors, especially women; (iv) provide access to savings, credit, and microfinance for female traders to create opportunities for expanding their business; (v) improve facilities at the fishing ports to increase the overall well-being of the fish trading communities; (vi) introduce alternative job opportunities for laborers in the tuna purchasing stage during the low season; (vii) support laborers trading yellowfin and bigeye tuna in seeking other ways to make a living due to the depletion of these tuna resources.

Abstract:
NIV is widely used in the ICU for different types of respiratory failure. However, there is no recommendation on the method to implement successfully the NIV program in the ICU. The three keys are equipment, caregiver’s education and training, and organisation. Equipment should be considered purchasing the appropriate ventilators according to the number of patients and the type of patients admitted. Interface selection is very important and should not be neglected. Humidification devices should also be appropriate. Physician, nurses and respiratory therapist have to get education, practical training and a continuous training program. Organisation of NIV in the ICU is improved if there is a local developed protocol with precise indication criteria, initiation method, mask selection, ventilator settings, NIV session duration and monitoring.

In general, MSMEs play an important role in the era of globalization to support the rise of the Indonesian economy, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The impact of the Covid-19 case has affected life in terms of health, education, and economy. The number of COVID-19 cases that continues to grow has made the pace of business slow down. Moreover, people are currently reducing activities outside the home such as vacations or shopping. The wheels of the economy slowed down, the market began to sluggish, turnover declined, as well as productivity. The government has also prepared a stimulus to help boost the economy and maintain purchasing power. The strategy that must be taken is to create product innovations based on needs in order to survive in the midst of a pandemic. In order to exist in the midst of global competition, MSMEs like it or not, ready or not, must be able to adapt, including improving product quality and having the courage to label products, because it is very important to know and learn product branding.

Graduate medical education (GME) lacks measures of resident preparation for high-quality, cost-conscious practice. The authors used publicly reported teaching hospital value measures to compare internal medicine residency programs on high-value care training and to validate these measures against program director perceptions of value. Program-level value training scores were constructed using Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Value-Based Purchasing (VBP) Program hospital quality and cost-efficiency data. Correlations with Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine Annual Survey high-value care training measures were examined using logistic regression. For every point increase in program-level VBP score, residency directors were more likely to agree that GME programs have a responsibility to contain health care costs (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] 1.18, P = .04), their faculty model high-value care (aOR 1.07, P = .03), and residents are prepared to make high-value medical decisions (aOR 1.07, P = .09). Publicly reported clinical data offer valid measures of GME value training.

Abstract When examining retail patronage, customer satisfaction must also be considered. Secondary resources (American Marketing Association, 2007; Berman, 2011; Berry, 2008; Chang, 2006:209; Helgesen & Nesset, 2007: 129 and Kong and Jogaratnam, 2007:279) observed that customer satisfaction is the degree to which a customer’s expectations agree with the actual performance of the product and or service. South African consumers situated in Gauteng consider a sales person’s product knowledge as the most important attribute when making purchasing decisions. American consumers in contrast consider sales person respect as the most important attribute when making purchasing decisions. The implications for marketers and sales managers are that marketers and sales managers must provide adequate training for their sales personnel in order for them to treat customers in such a way to obtain their loyalty. The quality of the products sold at the retailer does not form part of the trade-off options that customers are presented with.

Abstract:
Responsibility training is an essential component of child-rearing practices in several African societies. To inculcate responsibility, caregivers allocate their children household duties and send them on errands; these include (but are not limited to) fetching objects and purchasing items. Such errands foster the acquisition of cognitive, social, and economic competencies. In this paper, the relationship between the types of errands engaged in by Yoruba toddlers of southwest Nigeria and cognitive performance using an adapted version of the Bayley Mental Scales of Development, referred to as the Yoruba Mental Subscale, is examined. Findings revealed that children who engaged in purchasing items and retrieving specific objects for the caregiver had a significantly higher performance on the Yoruba Mental Subscale compared to children who did not engage in such errands. With regard to performance on the Bayley Mental Scales, findings revealed no significant association with the errands examined. The implications of these findings for cross-cultural research and early childhood education are discussed.

Purchasing biofeedback instruments and learning the technical process of operating each biofeedback instrument with a human subject are not enough. These steps are necessary, but they do not clearly guide one as to how the instruments should be used. A treatment protocol is required that provides an explanation of the patient's current suffering or problem, as well as a rationale for using biofeedback training in a fashion that can reasonably be expected to relieve that suffering. Such models or protocols are necessary to organize the process of the biofeedback training and provide a reasonable explanation to motivate the trainee/client. Experience shows that clients who understand how the intervention is relevant for their complaint apply themselves more fully and follow through with any homework more reliably. There are a number of such protocols, including biofeedback-assisted relaxation training, the breath training and respiratory biofeedback model, resonance frequency heart rate variability training, the neuromuscular rehabilitation model, various neurofeedback training models, and psychophysiological psychotherapy. This article will introduce biofeedback-assisted relaxation training (BART). BART is a widely applied biofeedback protocol in clinical practice and has been documented as effective in clinical studies from 1969 to the present, for anxiety disorders, diabetes, headaches, and a variety of other common medical and psychological conditions.

Conclusions/application to practice: Occupational health nurses play a crucial role in emergency response in the workplace and have the ability to drive the implementation of STB training in their institution. Occupational health nurses often work in isolation or in small teams and serve as a primary resource for treatment of injured employees. Implementation of STB training for all employees is highly recommended given the limited availability of occupational health nurses in large or rural settings. Such training may reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with workplace injuries.

The method used is lectures and questions and answers followed by distributing knowledge questionnaires about halal certification and consumer satisfaction as material for evaluating activities. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using the Paired Sample Test. The results of the analysis showed that there was a significant increase in knowledge (p-value 0.000). This is indicated by the average knowledge score before training from 3.81 to 6.50 after being given training. Furthermore, MSME actors expect there are activities to assist in the registration of halal certification.

Abstract:
When examining retail patronage, customer satisfaction must also be considered. Secondary resources (American Marketing Association, 2007; Berman, 2011; Berry, 2008; Chang, 2006, p. 209; Helgesen & Nesset, 2007, p. 129, Kong and Jogaratnam, 2007, p. 279) observed that customer satisfaction is the degree to which customer’s expectations agree with the actual performance of the product and/or service South African consumers situated in Gauteng consider a sales person’s product knowledge as the most important attribute when making purchasing decisions. American consumers, in contrast, consider sales person respect as the most important attribute when making purchasing decisions. The implications for marketers and sales managers are that marketers and sales managers must provide adequate training for their sales personnel in order for them to treat customers in such a way to obtain their loyalty. The quality of the products sold at the retailer does not form part of the trade off options that customers are presented with. Keywords: retail store customer, prices compared to competitors, salesperson product knowledge, salesperson responsiveness, South African retail consumers. JEL Classification: L81, M31

Abstract:
Introduction. As serious games are a relatively new phenomenon in medical education, there is little data on end user demographics or usage. In this study our goal was to describe the demographics and usage for purchasers of the GridlockED board game, a serious board game for teaching about a systems approach to managing care in the emergency department. Methods. We conducted a two-phase survey of individuals interested in purchasing GridlockED. Users were asked to complete a brief demographic survey before accessing the purchasing site. A follow-up survey was performed 3-6 months after the initial survey. That survey was to assess participants’ usage, play patterns, and what changes to GridlockED they would like to see. Individuals who did not purchase the board game were asked about their barriers to purchase. Results. After one year of sales, 213 games were purchased, 560 individuals had completed the intake survey with 408 consented to follow-up. Responding purchasers were from 16 different roles in healthcare in 11 countries. Our follow-up survey collated 53 responses (out of 408 individuals, 14% response rate). The majority (63%) of respondents reported having played the game, with the most common use cases being for fun (40%), teaching trainees (21%) or training with colleagues (13%). Price of the game unit was cited as the largest barrier to purchase (60%). Conclusion. GridlockED attracted interest from a wide range of medical professionals around the world. Users reported using the game for fun and for teaching/training purposes. The main barrier to purchase was the game’s price.

Abstract:
The transition towards innovative cloud computing technologies will allow universities to reduce the costs of purchasing software licenses and expensive computer parks with large amounts of memory and disks, since the programs used in training sessions, as well as all the results of work done, can be stored in the cloud. The transfer of educational services to the cloud will facilitate switching to a format of "learning everywhere and all the time". This article considers the pedagogical possibilities of cloud technologies, which confirm the expediency of use in the education process. The definition of cloud computing is discussed. In addition, the main task of the research was considered: using cloud technologies as a tool in the organizing education process. The experience of using open source software in training is given. The basic methods of using cloud technology in the learning process are presented.
