Abstract A new approach was developed for achieving a low electrochemical corrosion potential (ECP) on structural materials exposed to high temperature water, even without the addition of pure hydrogen. This approach uses metal hydride or alcohol acting as an alternate hydrogen source as well as an insulating character on the oxide surface. Initial experimental data on various materials showed that the addition of these agents lowers ECP and also enhances the catalytic benefit of noble metal treated surface.

Given growing interest in fuel-flexible systems, there can be situations in which the combustion properties of natural gas need to be modified by adding biofuels, such as bio alcohols. : In the current study, glass substrates were coated with Poly Vinyl Alcohol (PVA) nanofibers that were electrospun. The solution was electrospun at 20 KV while it was still warm using various concentrations of AgNO3 (1%, 2%, and 3% (wt.). The samples collected on the collectors were subjected to scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. The typical fiber diameter ranged from 100 nm to 250 nm. The PVA matrix successfully accommodates the Ag particles. PVA/ (1%,2%, and 3%) AgNO3 thin films have also been evaluated as gas sensors for (NO2) at various tempe

Abstract:
This paper summarizes the results of an experimental investigation of the performance characteristics of a gravity/capillary driven heat pipe using water/alcohol mixtures as a working fluid. This investigation specifically explored the use of water/alcohol mixtures that exhibit strong concentration-based Marangoni effects. Experiments to determine heat pipe performance were conducted for pure water and water/alcohol solutions with increasing concentrations of alcohol. Initial tests with pure water determined the optimal working fluid charge for the heat pipe; subsequent performance tests over
