Abstract:

Abstract:
AbstractPolyurethane reactive hot-melt adhesives (PURHs) are frequently employed in industries; however, there is still a need to develop more sustainable and versatile methodologies to expand the functions and fabrication of these important materials. Renewable feedstock can give PURHs with new functions, and reduce environmental impact. This study focuses on synthesizing PURHs using polyols derived from biomass (plants) and greenhouse gas (CO2) resources. These PURHs were characterized by multiple techniques, including solid-state 13C nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), a dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), single-lap adhesive joints strength of stainless steel, and hydrolytic ageing. The PURH film based on biomass poly(tetramethylene ether) glycol (bio-PTMEG) exhibited better water vapor permeability, tensile strength, and adhesive joints properties than PURHs based on cashew nutshell liquid (CNSL) polyester diol and poly(propylene carbonate)-poly(propylene glycol) (PPC-PPG) copolymer diol. The polyols blend of bio-PTMEG with biomass and CO2 based polycarbonate diols respectively provided PURHs films excellent hydrolysis resistance and adhesive strength on single-lap adhesively bonded stainless steel specimens. The work herein demonstrates that various renewable polyols can be employed in a sustainable fashion to optimize the structures and properties of PURHs for important applications.

Abstract:
Over the past 30 years, diseases in the hoof area in cows are a very serious and actual problem for all dairy farming. During the treatment of purulo-necrotic diseases of fingers, particular importance should be given to the search of new means of facilitating the cleansing of the wound surface from purulent exudate, early elimination of inflammation and a more rapid formation of healthy granulation tissue in the wound and quicken the transition of the inflammatorydystrophic phase (hydration) in the regenerative phase (dehydration). This article shows the results of histological studies of selected tissue samples with puruo-necrotic ulcerative lesions in the hoof area against the complex therapy. The research was conducted on the basis of LLC PSK “Krasnaya Zvezda” of the Ulyanovsk region, on cows suffering from purulo-necrotic ulcers in the hoof area. The material for histological studies was selected after mechanical treatment of the limbs from the areas of affected soft tissues in the hoof area before treatment, on the 7th and 14th days, with subsequent fixation in 10 ... 12% formalin. The sections were colored using hematoxylin and eosin and Van Gizon staining. During conducted research it is established that when using biologically active Diotevin sorption preparation in complex treatment of orthopedic ill cows on histological level revealed weak evidence of the inflammatory process, changes of angiogeneses structure of granulation tissue in the form of increased vessel density, capillary type and number of fibroblastic cells with further proliferation of epithelial cells in the dermis with recovery of epidermis with signs of hyperkeratosis.

Abstract:
In connection with the analysis of ancient Indian, in this case Rivedian, ideas about a person, it is necessary to clarify the words used to indicate them. Taking into account the developed synonymy of the Vedic language, T. Elizarenkova, among the several concepts that have the highest number of synonyms in the Rig Veda (hereinafter - RV), refers to the term "human" / "man" / "husband". One of these words is purusha (púruṣ a- and its equivalent “metrical extension.” The semantics of the word purusha in the RV, though not widely used in the monument, are important in the context of considering a person's concept of both the RV and subsequent Indian texts. as well as to study purusha formation as one of the basic philosophical concepts of the Upanishads and the Sankhya school.

Abstract:
The Sāṁkhya philosophy relating to Prakṛti and Puruṣa discusses the ultimate reality of the universe in the Śrīmad Bhāgavata Mahāpurāṇa. When the balanced state of Prakṛti is disturbed by Puruṣa, the process of evolution takes place in the universe. This article concentrates on the significance of Prakṛti and Puruṣa as the base of the Sāṁkhya philosophy. At the same time, it also deals with the impression of these two components of nature in this philosophy for the creation and maintenance of this universe. To analyze the Sāṁkhya philosophy relating to Prakṛti and Puruṣa, this study has been used as overall theoretical approach. It is important in order to present how the Bhāgavata reflects the use of Prakṛti and Puruṣa for the creation of theuniverse. The interpretive method is used for the exploration of Prakṛti and Puruṣa in the text. The findings of the investigation suggest that Prakṛti and Puruṣa are the bases of the Sāṁkhya philosophy and the readers should have knowledge about this philosophy of the very ancient time. The prime conclusion drawn from this research is that Prakṛti and Puruṣa are the main elements of Nature from which the creation and the existence of the universe are possible.

Abstract:
[EN] Abstract This investigation consists of the analysis of the iconographic, iconological and morphologic code of the social, political, animist, mythical and religious structures of the Ecuadorian Indo-Amazonian Shuar culture. The archeological settlement Wapula, located 30 kilometers nor- thwest from the city of Macas in the province of Morona Santiago (in the Ecuadorian Amazonian region), presents a series of settled cultures within this huge ceremonial center (Porras, 1987). Studies carried out by both national and foreign scholars (Porras. P. 1987; Salazar. E. 2000; Rostain. E. 2014; Descola. F. 1987; and Latrap. D.) discovered that the Upano culture went back to 2500 years BC, but back then they were known as Upanos III, Upanos II and Upa- nos I, this last one being part of the Regional Development Period, or Integration, as it is also called, that dates back from 500 BC to 1500 AD. This investigation is particularly focused on this period to pro- ve if the last heirs of this great Jibaro tribe legacy are the current Shuar people from Ecuador, having into account that both cultures are considered as wild, uneducated, and pagan tribes that perform satanic rites with tsantsas or shrunken heads (Descola, F., 1987, p.35). The archeological relics that we can find today in the corres- ponding collections of Centro de Interpretación Cultural de Morona [Center of Cultural Interpretation of Morona], and the archeological collection of Plaza Tiwintza [Tiwintza Square], are important relics located within the Federación Interprovincial del Centro Shuar; or FICSH, for its initials in Spanish [Shuar Center Interprovincial Fede- ration]. Among them, we can find the aforementioned tsantsas and some archeological pieces that are in the hands of the communities of Wapula, Sevilla Don Bosco, Copataza, Timkias, La Unión, and Madre Tierra. These pieces have allowed the execution of a tho- rough diagnosis of the tangible of the Shuar culture, which includes the studies of the physico-chemical compositions of the constituent materials, analysis of manufacturing techniques, besides an icono- graphic and iconological analysis of the incisions and polychromies present in the ceramic pieces of the above-mentioned collections. All this has allowed to present a morphological parallelism re- garding manufacturing techniques, tools and materials used in the creation of these pieces, as well as the mythical-religious influence of the cultures settled previously in the Wapula center, as well as its possible exchanges with the neighboring communities pertaining to the Cañar cultures (Snöja, 1991 and González, 1875) and the Puru- há culture (Caamaño, 1927). The results derived from this investigation served as a starting point to undertake an architectural study project for the creation of the Museo Étnico Cultural Tsantsa [Tsantsa Cultural Ethnic Mu- seum]. This project was created at the request of the cantonal and provincial governments as well as the Presidency of FICSH. The purpose of this project is to promote the rescuing of a cultural identi- ty that is in danger of disappearing; in addition to raising awareness among the sectional Governments so that they comply with what is stated in the Ecuadorian Constitution, the Cultural Heritage Act, article 4, sections (a, b, c) and the Organic Law of Culture, article 4, which details the principles of Cultural Diversity. In this context, agreements are sought with the governments in charge in order to preserve, conserve, and treasure this valuable and non-renewable Ecuadorian Indo-Amazonian cultural heritage.

Gehring, Allen Stanley Jr. "Divine simplicity as actus purus." Texas A&M University, 2005. http://hdl.handle.net/1969.1/2618.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis presents a case for the traditional doctrine of divine simplicity by construing it along the lines that God exists as actus purus. My formulation of divine simplicity draws upon the medieval insight that God is what He is in virtue of what He does in one, eternal act of will with which He is identical. In chapter I, I survey the contemporary literature on divine simplicity. In chapter II, I critique Alvin Plantinga??s Platonic theory of the divine attributes as formulated in Does God Have a Nature? I contend it brings with it the cost of abandoning the doctrine of God??s aseity, as well as a problematic understanding of the very notion of what it means to claim that God has a particular property. In chapter III, I provide rejoinders to all of Plantinga??s defeaters against divine simplicity. I argue that by understanding the origin of God??s attributes to be the result of what He does, Plantinga??s two major criticisms against divine simplicity fail. In chapter IV, I develop a viable theory of divine simplicity, given an actus purus conception of God, and I formulate a number of arguments supporting it. By drawing upon the resources of action theory, I clarify, in detail, what exactly it means to claim that God is identical with His act of will. And I demonstrate the fruitfulness of an actus purus construal of divine simplicity by showing how it solves a large number of problems that theists face.In the last chapter, I note some of the difficulties with my position due to its commitment to an eternal God, and I suggest some of the ways that these problems can be overcome. However, in addition to showing the difficulties that face my position, I also demonstrate the rich number of implications that follow from it. As such, I seek to demonstrate that the traditional understanding of the divine essence is something that is worthy for theists to embrace and to explore, because it is full of truth and wisdom that deserves to be preserved for later generations to celebrate and enjoy.

Abstract:
One of the park and street workers many tools, is the traditional broom. The broom is used to tidy up surfaces where machines can’t reach, such as; underneath benches, in corners and smaller areas. Using a traditional broom requires a twisted and forward leaning body posture that, if performed during an extended time period, can result in musculoskeletal problems and negative impact on the health. This project aimed to develop a new cleaning tool to reduce the forward-leaning, twisted body posture. This thesis used a product development methodology and a biomechanical analysis to fulfil, and evidence base the aim. Review of the literature, biomechanical analysis and benchmarking were used to set requirement specifications for this project. The project applied David G Ullman's iterative product development methodology, including brainstorming, quality function deployment, morphology, Pugh´s matrix and a failure mode effects analysis. Furthermore, a functional prototype was built as a last step of the development phase. Evaluation of the prototype, in comparison to the traditional broom, was performed using 3D movement analysis (Qualisys motion capture system) and surface electromyography (Mega 8 channel system) on one test person. The project resulted in a physically functional prototype that can be used for similar tasks as a traditional broom. The concept design dictates the user to push the cleaning tool in front of the body with postural symmetry in all three planes. The comparison between a traditional broom and the prototype showed a reduction in muscle activity when using the prototype. Furthermore, the movement analysis showed a working posture with less forward leaning and back rotation. Furthermore, the participant could keep neutral angles in the shoulders and wrists throughout the task. Note that, the biomechanical analyzes was only made on one test person which is not enough to conclude that the prototype contributes to a more healthy working posture.

Abstract:
The objective of this study was to analyze the influence of age, after childbirth, castration, as well as the influence of confinement on lipid profile and in liver and kidney function. We measured the levels of serum cholesterol, triglycerides, non-esterified fatty acids (NEFA), β-hydroxybutyrate (B-HBO), urea, creatinine, total protein, albumin, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), gamma glutamyl transferase (GGT), creatine kinase (CK) and glucose. For the experiment we used 370 cattle breed Purunã. The animals were assigned to four different experiments. Data were analyzed by ANOVA, using the GLM procedure of SAS. It was concluded that the constituents were considerably influenced by metabolic age, sex, and postpartum creation system. Due to the large amount of strategically collected samples, obtained from different management, it was also possible to suggest values for the analytes, measured in these experiments, Purunã to breed cattle of different ages, sexes, and stages of peripartum and postpartum and confinement.

The research presented here is called: The etnografic landscape of the Purus/Juruá Medium. One is about a etnografic rocking on the research carried through between the Arawá peoples of this region. However, to force of the data, I opted to organizing the research of the following form: chapter I - I developed a rocking on the historical process in the region, leading in consideration the aboriginal peoples who inhabit there, locating them and characterizing them from historical and official data. Chapter II - I developed a systematization of the works that they supply given on social organization of three Arawá peoples, namely, Deni, Jamamadi and Kulina in comparison to the peoples not Arawá adjacent, Kanamari (katukina), Katukina (Katukina) and Apurinã (Aruak). Searching in these cases neighborhoods and distinctions. In chapter III - another subject that is potential in these peoples is cosmology. Using the same didactics of chapter II, cast cosmological aspects of three Arawá peoples, Deni, Kulina and Zuruwaha in comparison to not the Arawá Kanamari (katukina), Katukina (Katukina) and Apurinã (Aruak). This research has as main objective, to analyze which is the known cultural aspects less of these peoples. Through the data that I had access, I identified most unknown to the social organization and cosmology as for the anthropologic analysis.

Abstract:

This study deals with the issues of territoriality and everyday life of the Caiçara Community of Puruba Beach, located in the city of Ubatuba, in the North coast of São Paulo State. The community lives in the middle of the Atlantic Forest and in the last 40 years this region has undergone an urbanization process by the State. As a result, each one of the communities of the area had different outcomes. This fact constitutes the topic of this study. This work looks at the consequences of a historical foray and analyzes the target community from an updated perspective up to the breaking point that happened in the 70s, when the caiçara traditional lifestyle started to be compromised. The first questions came from the observation of the characteristics of the caiçara lifestyle at the Puruba Beach village. However, in face of so many influences from the urban world, it would be necessary to characterize this social group in the first place. The second step was the identification of the social relations and the institutions that formed and gave life to the community. In this step it was important to understand that culture and lifestyle are not static, that changes are social and lead to very peculiar characteristics. Such information yielded some questions and the problem of this study: how can this social group adept itself to the new conditions imposed by the urbanization of the space and by the severe environmental laws? The reproduction of the caiçara lifestyle depends on geographical isolation and subsistence exploitation of the nature, among other factors. These conditions were taken from the caiçara people; what is left for them so that they can (re)exist as caiçaras is still unknown. In order to shed some light to this problem this study will describe the everyday life of the caiçaras and how the social and cultural dynamic of the group happens by showing aspects of their gastronomy, festivals, religiosity, community relations, and work. Geographical concepts such as territory, space, landscape and place helped in the analysis of the topic of this study. It was found that despite the processes of territory loss to which they were submitted, the caiçaras could find other territorialities. This process was only possible because these people are caiçara in their knowledge and social practices. Therefore, their caiçara essence is what makes them go through several disagreements, contradictions and difficulties while defending their territory.

This study valuated the caimans hunting with hook practiced in the Low Purus river at the Sustainable Development Reserve (RDS) Piagaçu-Purus, Central Amazon. This activity is realized by the riveriner aim the caiman meat production in salt-dry to supply the interstates trade. The knowledge scenery about the hunting of caiman with hook was put in public since 2003, however, not much is know about this catch effects on the caiman hunting productivity and its catch length. Aim to valuate the effect of this catch, were accompanied 31 caiman hunting with hook in the period of February to October 2008. Multiple Linear Regressions and Simple Linear Regression Analyzes were applied to model the caiman catch production and size. The mass of meat produced by the hunting were modeling in function of the river water level, community distance and hunting effort using hook. Were caught 124 caimans, where: 53 with suspense hook and 71 with the hook armed under land. The modeling of the size of hook and to water deep explained 48% of caiman length variance, while the modeling that used the height of hook parameter above the water surface and water deep explain 38% of this variance. The Simple Linear Regression was utilized to modeling the caiman length caught in function of distance hook traped under land from the interface water-land, showing a variance of 60% for the sample size. The hunting effect presented in this study indicates the intensive hunting pressure on the caiman population, confirmed through produced caiman meat decreasing near to hunters communities. Confirmed through Multiple Linear Regression values expressed for 70% of variance for this production. Was observed too that the caiman hunting are proportionally inverse to the river water level. The Caiman crocodilus caught length present higher abundance of individual above 70cm of snout-vent length. This indicate that the hunting method guard the replacement individuals to maintain the caiman population. While the Melanosuchus niger specie had the higher abundance of caught individual sub adult, noting the reduction of big adults. The absence of this caiman length class sustain the hypothesis that the individual lenght structure of M. niger population are probably affected by the intense hunting pressure. The results presented can be utilized to subsides the public policy for assert the sustainable management of caiman in the Amazon States, Brazil.

This doctoral thesis entitled "Knowledge of midwives: an archeology in the Alto Purus" is the result of a survey undertaken by the Research Field: Education, Society and the Graduate Program in Culture Education at the Catholic University of Goiás, PPGEPUC - GO. This research sought to investigate what knowledge of midwives of Alto Purus, in the municipality of Santa Rosa do Purus-AC, and the conditions of possibility of this knowledge. This is a theoretical nature of work mixed with the analysis of official and unofficial documents. Therefore, discussed the know from a path of reading between history and philosophy, aiming to understand the influences of French epistemology in Archaeology of Knowledge (its displacement) of Michel Foucault. It was used by public health agencies and education documents and oral reports of (the) river (the) from the Alto Purus region. He studied the issue of midwives with brief forays into the history of European and Brazilian midwives, to then make use of images (both iconographic and symbolic) of altopuruenses midwives. And when analyzing the conditions of possibility of knowledge of midwives in Alto Purus, if contacted that although being the knowledge of midwives altopuruenses something predominantly oral and empirical, mixed with extracts of modern medicine, it is an event of the knowledge order which does not fit the order of the scientific view, or the epistemological, and that, therefore, the concept of knowledge of midwives must be invented, if you like, reinvented.
