Abstract:
An epidural abscess is a collection of pus that has accumulated between the dura and the calvarium or spine. It is rare but can lead to severe neurologic dysfunction or death. There are two main subsets of epidural abscess: spinal epidural abscess (SEA) and intracranial epidural abscess (ICEA). Early diagnosis is key to minimizing complications. Back pain is the most common presentation of SEA, along with spinal tenderness. Treatment requires prolonged hospitalization, surgical drainage in most cases, and long-term antibiotics. Except in rare cases, patients with SEA and ICEA will require hosp

Abstract:

Abstract:
Pleural effusions occur when an influx of fluid into the pleural space exceeds its removal. An exudative effusion, which results from leaky barriers, is often associated with infections. Parapneumonic effusions are exudative pleural effusions adjacent to pulmonary infections. Most parapneumonic effusions are sterile and resolve with treatment of the underlying pneumonia. They may, however, evolve through the exudative, fibrinopurulent, and organizing phases of empyema formation. Empyema occurs when frank pus occupies the pleural space and requires drainage. For parapneumonic process, antibioti

Abstract:

Abstract:
Print culture was expanding rapidly in the eighteenth century. Yet religious literature remained the largest category of printed book and Dissenters were significant contributors to this genre. From 1695 pre-publication censorship disappeared within England so print was an important mechanism through which Dissenting identity was created and sustained. Religious works could be doctrinal, controversial, or practical and it was the latter category that had the largest lay readership. Material related to Scripture, either translated or paraphrased, accounted for much of the printed religious outp

Meeting a major challenge, twenty-four scholars collaborated to produce this unprecedented volume on the cultural dimensions of international relations. This field of study, long considered too vast, has up to now been neglected by scholars in the humanities and international relations. This 18-chapter book provides a theoretical overview, examines the present status of scholarship where international relations and the humanities intersect, and studies the impact of cultural differences in shaping foreign policy. U.S. international political culture receives special attention. Other cultures g
