Abstract:
A pioneer survey of the North West Region of Cameroon to evaluate Pyrgomorphidae grasshopper species diversity was carried out from January to September 2017. Actual field collections and a search of literature for records of grasshoppers were made. Field collections included 64 specimens that comprising six identified species representing six genera and five tribes in the subfamily Pyrgomorphinae and family Pyrgomorphidae. The six species: Chrotogonus senegalensis, Dictyophorus griseus, Parapetasia rammei, Pyrgomorpha vignaudii, Taphronota thaelephora, and Zonocerus variegatus, were recorded

Abstract:
Grasshoppers are a diverse and functionally important group of insects, but assemblages of Australian grasshoppers are extremely poorly known. This study of the grasshoppers (Orthoptera : Acrididae, Eumastacidae, Pyrgomorphidae, Tridactylidae, Tetrigidae and Tettigoniidae) of Kakadu National Park in the seasonal tropics of the Northern Territory is the first comprehensive description of any regional grasshopper fauna in Australia. We list all known species, describe their biogeography, habitat associations and abundance, and propose a functional group classification for Australian grasshoppers

Abstract:
The Littoral Region of Cameroon is one of the most highly disturbed regions in Cameroon that remain poorly studied and where no investigation regarding the grasshopper fauna has been conducted. Hence a survey was conducted from August 2015 to November 2018 in 11 localities of this region. In each locality, grasshoppers were sampled in three vegetation types (forests, fallows and cultivated farms) using sweep nets sampling method. We collected in total 51 short-horned grasshopper species belonging to the families Acrididae, Chorotypidae, Euschmidtiidae, Pyrgomorphidae and Thericleidae. Among th

We present a list of grasshoppers of two families from Ghyalchok, Gorkha district with four new species records for Nepal. The checklist of species is given to provide basic information on the grasshopper diversity of that region. With detailed information of all species recorded and plates with photos from different angles of each species, the present work shall contribute towards a better understanding of grasshoppers of Nepal's Ghyalchok, Gorkha region. This study contributes to future revisionary works on grasshopper diversity and distribution in Nepal. We surveyed 13 different localit

The Kerandangan TWA conservation area has high biodiversity, but much of it is unknown, including grasshoppers. This research aims to analyze the diversity of grasshoppers in the area. Grasshopper samples were collected on two transects determined purposively. This collection was carried out over two months, namely October to November 2022. Data on species and numbers were analyzed descriptively. This analysis includes abundance, richness index, diversity index, and species evenness index. Our findings show that there are 8 species of grasshoppers from the families Acrididae, Pyrgomorphidae, C

Vegetables are one of the commodities that support the economic sector. Many factors affect the success rate of vegetable production, including pests. Grasshoppers are herbivorous insects that have the potential as pests that will affect crop yields, especially vegetables. This study aims to determine the diversity of grasshoppers in the vegetable field of Bug-Bug Village, Lingsar District, West Lombok. Sampling was carried out on vegetables with differences in plant age, namely 1, 2, and 3 months using the sweeping net method in the morning (07.00-10.30) around the edge and middle of the vege

The Indian subcontinent is known to harbor a high level of insect biodiversity and endemism, but the grasshopper fauna in this region is poorly understood, in part due to the lack of appropriate taxonomic resources. Based on detailed examinations of museum specimens and high-resolution digital images, we have produced an illustrated key to 21 Pyrgomorphidae genera known from the Indian subcontinent. This new identification key will become a useful tool for increasing our knowledge on the taxonomy of grasshoppers in this important biogeographic region.
