Abstract:
Burmese pythons (Python molurus bivittatus) and African rock pythons (Python sebae) have established invasive populations in southern Florida, severely disrupting local ecosystems. We analysed necropsy data from 2,179 pythons captured between 2006 and 2022, revealing nine cases of coelomic foreign bodies, primarily consisting of bird beaks, which presumably entered the coelom following gastrointestinal perforations during prey consumption. Despite the presence of foreign bodies, most examined pythons exhibited no obvious health issues. These findings indicate that the consumption of prey with sharp morphological features, such as wading birds, may not impede the pythons’ survival or health significantly, thereby underscoring their adaptability as apex predators in the Greater Everglades Ecosystem.

Abstract:
Reptiles as exotic pets become more commonly desired by society, one of which is the reticulated python. Pythons kept as pets also have a risk of disease infection including helminthiasis. Worm parasite infects snake by the oral route. Some snake feed including frogs and mice can act as an intermediate host for worm parasites. A male reticulated python was kept by a member of the Banyuwangi reptile community and was presented with healthy and normal eating habits. This case study was to determine the worm parasite in the wild-caught reticulated python kept as an exotic pet. Fresh fecal samples were stored in a container with 70% alcohol added as a preservative. The sample was then evaluated in the laboratory and examined using the native method, floatation method, and simple sedimentation method. As result, under the microscope to be the Capillaria spp. the egg was observed.

Abstract:
SUMMARY A retrospective study was conducted to determine disease patterns in reptilian and amphibian populations at the Detroit Zoo from 1973 through 1983. In the reptilian population (mean ± sd = 285.2 ± 28), overall annual mortality rates were 1% to 40%. Mortality rates were highest in the fall months (20%) and lowest in the winter months (6%). The most frequently affected reptiles were iguana (Iguana iguana), reticulated python (Python reticulatus), rattlesnakes (Crotalus spp), common boa (Constrictor constrictor), and lizards (various genera of suborder Lacertilia). Of the 1,300 reptilian deaths from 1973 through 1983, 36.6% were caused by microbial agents, 12% by parasites, 11.6% by trauma, and 9.3% by nutritional deficiencies. The main microbial organisms that caused death were Aeromonas spp, Salmonella spp, Pseudomonas spp, Proteus spp, and Edwardsiella spp. The main parasites that caused death were Entamoeba spp and lungworms. Among amphibians, frogs and toads were the most frequently affected, and starvation and trauma were the most frequent causes of death.

Abstract:
(Uploaded by Plazi for the Bat Literature Project) African pythons (Pythonidae) and large vipers (Bitis spp.) act as definitive hosts for Armillifer armillatus and Armillifer grandis parasites (Crustacea: Pentastomida) in the Congo Basin. Since the proportion of snakes in bushmeat gradually increases, human pentastomiasis is an emerging zoonotic disease. To substantiate the significance of this threat, we surveyed snakes offered for human consumption at bushmeat markets in the Kole district, Democratic Republic of the Congo, for the presence of adult pentastomids. In Bitis vipers (n = 40), Armillifer spp. infestations exhibited an 87.5% prevalence and 6.0 median intensity. Parasite abundance covaried positively with viper length, but not with body mass. In pythons (n = 13), Armillifer spp. exhibited a 92.3% prevalence and 3.5 median intensity. The positive correlations between parasite abundance and python length or mass were statistically nonsignificant. Ninety-one percent of A. grandis were discovered in vipers and 97% of infected vipers hosted A. grandis, whereas 81% of A. armillatus specimens were found in pythons and 63% of infected pythons hosted A. armillatus. Thus, challenging the widespread notion of strict host specificity, we found 'reversed' infections and even a case of coinfection. In this study, we also gathered information about the snake consumption habits of different tribal cultures in the area. Infective parasite ova likely transmit to humans directly by consumption of uncooked meat, or indirectly through contaminated hands, kitchen tools or washing water.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Parasitic infections of the gastrointestinal tract of domestic animals play a major role in the transmission of disease, which in turn may result in financial and productive losses. Notwithstanding, studies on the burden and distribution of diarrheagenic protists in zoological gardens are still insufficient. Given the close animal–animal and animal–human interaction in these settings, Public Health concerns under the One Health context are raised. Using molecular detection tools and phylogenetic analysis, the goal of this study was to assess the occurrence of four potentially zoonotic protists—Balantioides coli, Blastocystis sp., Cryptosporidium spp. and Giardia spp.—in animals residing in zoological parks in Portugal. Occurrence of Eimeria spp. was also assessed because of its veterinary relevance. Although Blastocystis sp. represents most of the positive samples obtained (11.6%; 95% CI: 0.08–0.17), all parasites were detected (B. coli (2.9%; 95% CI: 0.01–0.06), and Cryptosporidium spp., Eimeria spp. and Giardia spp. presented the same prevalence (0.5%; 95% CI: 0.00–0.03)). We also describe the first molecular detection of B. coli in a collared peccary (Tayassu tajacu), of Blastocystis sp. in three different python species, and G. muris in a central bearded dragon (Pogona vitticeps), suggesting the broadening of the host range for these parasites.

Abstract:
Four African rock pythons at the Wildlife Park in Nigeria were reported to show clinical signs of reduced appetite and lethargy. In response, the management of the University of Jos Veterinary Teaching Hospital assembled a team to investigate and manage the condition. Initially suspecting helminthosis, the team decided to deworm the snakes using Levamisole at a dose of 10 mg/kg subcutaneously (SC). Whole blood, ectoparasite, and fecal samples were collected. During the handling of the snakes, they were observed to be heavily infested with ticks. Laboratory results later showed the presence of Hepatozoon spp. in the blood and nematode eggs in the feces, prompting a follow-up visit 2 weeks later. During the second visit, the snakes were treated with an injection of ivermectin at 0.1 mg/kg SC, imidocarb dipropionate at 5 mg/kg SC, and atropine sulfate at 0.02 mg/kg SC. Following treatment, the snakes made a full recovery and significantly regained their activity and appetite.

Abstract:
Among the diseases that can affect snakes in captivity, infectious diseases are one of the main factors responsible for high morbidity and mortality rates. One of the main agents is Pseudomonas spp. that, besides being zoonotic, is generally multiresistant to several antimicrobials, representing a public health risk. This paper aims to report the occurrence of multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas sp. in M. spilota presenting vesicular dermatitis, as well as the microbiological, pathological and therapeutic description. In the care of a 7-year-old male carpet python, we noticed several vesicles containing a translucent viscous liquid, located in the skin of the entire body of the animal, in addition to some depigmented and elevated scales. Thus, material was collected from a freshly opened vesicle for bacterial culture and antibiogram. Blood was also collected for hematological and serum biochemical tests. Due to the suspicion of bacterial infection, treatment was instituted using enrofloxacin, ketoprofen, and potassium permanganate baths. After treatment, it was noticed that the vesicles had ceased, but after about ten days the animal died, suggesting systemic involvement. Hematological exams showed heterophilic leukocytosis, lymphocytosis, and monocytosis, besides an increase in AST. The results of the culture and antibiogram were available after the death of the animal, suggesting Pseudomonas spp. with resistance to several drugs. This paper describes the first report of vesicular dermatitis caused by multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas spp. in M. spilota, thus assisting in the medicine and ex situ conservation of these animals.

Abstract:
The goal of software-defined radio (SDR) is to move the processing of radio signals from the analog domain to the digital domain â to use digital microchips instead of analog circuit components. Until faster, higher-precision analog-to-digital (ADCs) and digital-to-analog converters (DACs) become affordable, however, some analog signal processing will be necessary. We still need to convert high-radio frequency (RF) signals that we receive to low intermediate-frequency (IF) or baseband (centered on zero Hz) signals in order for ADCs to sample them and feed them into microchips for processing. The reverse is true when we transmit. Amplification is also needed on the receive side to fully utilize the dynamic range of the ADC and power amplification is needed on the transmit side to increase the power output from the DAC for transmission. Analog filtering is also needed to avoid saturating the ADC or to filter out interference when receiving and to avoid transmitting spurs. The analog frequency conversion, amplification and filtering section of a radio is called the RF front end. This thesis describes work on a new RF front end daughterboard for the Universal Software Radio Peripheral, or USRP. The USRP is a software-radio hardware platform designed to be used with the GNU Radio software radio software package. Using the Motorola RFIC4 chip, the new daughterboard receives RF signals, converts them to baseband and does analog filtering and amplification before feeding the signal into the USRP for processing. The chip also takes transmit signals from the USRP, converts them from baseband to RF and amplifies and filters them. The board was designed and laid out by Randall Nealy. I wrote the software driver for GNU Radio. The driver defines the interface between the USRP and the RFIC chip, controls the physical settings, and calculates and sets the hundreds of variables necessary to operate this extremely complex chip correctly. It allows plug-and-play compatibility with the current USRP daughterboards and supplies additional functions not available in any other daughterboard.<br>Master of Science

Abstract:
The cloud computing is already a well-known paradigm, known and used in both business and consumers areas. It provides a lot of advantages, but today the necessity of data security and low latency is rapidly increasing. Nowadays, in next generation networks (NGN), the fog computing paradigm is able to satisfy strict latency and security requirements using distributed computational power. In a dynamic fog orchestration scenario, the discovery of available resources and services is a fundamental aspect to achieve a good quality system. This thesis is focused on the study and comparison of service and node discovery techniques and protocols, with the aim of finding an optimal solution to the problem related to a preexisting fog service orchestration system. Once the optimal solution is detected, a working implementation is proposed and evaluated with appropriate experimental measurements, particularly relevant for network administration.

Die Datenverwaltung erfolgt u. a.

Abstract:
This chapter guides through the development of a pairwise sequence alignment tool that implements global, ends-free global, and local alignment. It focuses on the algorithms needed to implement the tool. However, because Python is a commonly used programming language for bioinformatics, the chapter encourages you to apply the Python concepts to implement your pairwise sequence alignment tool. The chapter begins by analysing the output report of an existing local sequence alignment tool, EMBOSS Water, to familiarize ourselves with its inputs, outputs, and functionality. It then looks at an overview of simple pairwise alignment (SPA), and introduces the concept of algorithms–taking a look at different ways to express algorithms. Towards the end, the chapter explains the longest common subsequence (LCS) algorithm and how it can be extended to implement local and global pairwise alignment. It then assesses the complexity of algorithms–that is, how much memory and time they require.

Abstract:
Abstract The ability to identify underperforming wells and recover the remaining oil in place is a cornerstone for effective reservoir management and field development strategies. As advancement in computing programming capabilities continuous to grow, Python has become an attractive method to build complicated statistical models that predicts, diagnose or analyze well performance, efficiently and accurately. The aim of this study is to develop a computational model that will allows us to diagnose and analyze well performance using nodal analysis with the help of python. In this study, python was used to compute Nodal analysis method using Darcy and Vogel Equations. A case study was carried out using the data obtained from a field operating in the Niger Delta. Again, sensitivity of tubing size was conducted using python. The results obtained showed that a computational model with python has the ability to visualize, model and analyze wells performances. This technique will petroleum engineers to better monitor evaluate and enhance their production operation without the need for expensive softwares. This will reduce operating cost increases revenue.

Abstract:
Abstract The oil and gas industry generates vast amounts of data throughout its operations, from exploration to production. Collecting, connecting, and optimally utilizing this data is key to maximizing efficiency, accuracy, and access to new disruptive technologies. In a typical well-planning cycle, an engineer will spend a significant amount of time looking for the data they require to do their jobs efficiently. The data are typically locked away in silos - trajectories in one data platform, Pore Pressure Gradient, Fracture Gradient or Targets in another, and so on. A major Middle Eastern NOC and Two Norwegian software service companies teamed up to develop Proof of Concept (PoC) for a new workflow that integrates subsurface and drilling data between on-premises Geology E&amp;P software and Drilling software through a proprietary Python Tool plug-in and Python library. This integration enables a streamlined connection to a cloud-based drilling and well planning software, facilitating collaboration among teams involved in well planning. The project's key challenges are the lack of a standardized communication, integration, and automation of data flows between subsurface and drilling teams, as well as the inability of engineers to access necessary data due to scattered information and access restrictions. The project utilizes a proprietary data science suite, named Cegal's Prizm, which allows easy configuration to integrate data from various applications, sources, and platforms. A proprietary Python Tool is used to merge data from various application silos and data sources, enabling enriched investigation. The process involves connecting to the Geology E&amp;P software retrieving domain objects using the proprietary Python Tool, and converting these domain data objects into common Python data structures. The project aims to develop an innovative workflow that provides easier access to data for experts throughout the organization, leading to better decision-making during the well-planning cycle. This not only makes it easier, but it also ensures collaboration between the G&amp;G and Drilling teams involved in new well planning

Abstract:
Abstract The knowledge of the distance between two interfering wells is very important and forms part of the objectives of interference well test analysis. Ascertaining if wells are in communication with each other, especially if the wells do not have the same ownership is key to every operator, for flow boundary definition, arbitration, and neighbouring well location, either as relief or recovery well. The procedure utilizes pressure distribution of a vertical well in a reservoir exhibiting infinite-acting behavior. The total pressure drop in the observation well is aggregated using the superposition of multiple wells with multiple rates histories. The general equation solved eventually comprises of either single or multiple exponential integrals as major variables. A single linear equation is formed if only two wells are involved. Multiple linear equations are formed if at least two wells are involved. An observation well may also be active. If only two wells are involved, the solution to the equation is provided using the secant method of finding roots to estimate the distance. Where well pairs are selected for flow and observation, multiple linear equations are obtained. In all cases, only well distance apart is involved. Python as a programming language is deployed to automatically search for the distance between two wells or an average distance between wells in a multiple array of wells completed in the same or neighboring reservoirs in communication. Major inputs into the program are observed pressure drops and time, wellbore, reservoir, and fluid properties. The program outputs well distance, reservoir, fluid, well parameters and time for every run. The roles of the wells were interchanged as observation and active wells in turn, just to strengthen confidence on results obtained. Two wells (Well 1 and Well 2) were used for demonstration successfully. Distances between the wells as computed by the program compared closely to those manually computed.

Abstract:
Abstract Citizen developer teams can be a valuable asset to any organization as they can help drive innovation and increase efficiency by quickly building custom solutions to meet specific business needs. They can also help bridge the gap between IT and business teams, allowing for more collaboration and better alignment of technology with business goals. Overall, citizen developer teams are a way for organizations to tap into the collective knowledge and expertise of their employees, empower them to drive digital transformation and improve business processes. This presentation aims to illustrate the importance of having such hybrid teams in any organization. By empowering non-technical employees to create custom software solutions, organizations can access a diverse range of knowledge and expertise to meet the needs of all stakeholders. DataGMA exemplifies this approach, having successfully improved data-driven processes at YPF Upstream NOC through the development and implementation of short-term Digital Solutions. By utilizing microservice principles and agile methodologies, DataGMA has made a significant impact on the organization, fostering a culture of data-driven decision making and improving various business processes. Specifically, DataGMA is a YPF Upstream NOC multidisciplinary team that combines geoscientists with technical support to deliver short-term solutions using Python and Low Code Platforms. While IT manages main and corporate applications according to corporate priorities and scope, DataGMA can take on new challenges and provide targeted solutions for short-term needs. Historical data was officially safeguarded and made available through new workflows, via optimized formats. Many manual tasks were replaced by automatic processes and many Python applications were created to optimize the interpretations of physical phenomena, with minimal cost. Finally, work methodologies and reporting of various disciplines were optimized through a combination of dashboards and low code application building. Throughout 3 years, DataGMA has improved many business processes by tackling non-governed data and building data awareness. This has radically improved engagement around the data life cycle and reduced time of no valuable work, such as repetitive or inefficient tasks. With a dynamic approach, the team was able to solve, not only recurrent business problems but new challenging ones, which has helped with digital transformation transition. DataGMA is an example of how a group of citizen Developers, included in a team with access to digital technologies, can achieve a direct impact on business performance.
