Abstract:
The present study was designed to investigate the changes occur on Chenopodium album starch (CAS) after modification through quasi emulsion solvent diffusion (QESD) method. Modification of starch was carried out by HCl (0.1, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75 and 1M) followed by precipitation. The QESD modification significantly reduced the amylose content, water absorption capacity, oil absorption capacity, solubility as well as swelling power of treated starch. Gelatinization behaviour of modified starch showed an increase in pasting temperature. The SEM images showed the formation of regular and spherical shaped larger starch particles. There was an improvement in crystallinity from 20.01 to 29.86% after modification as shown in X-ray analysis. Overall, it indicates that QESD treatment results into formation of spherical crystalline agglomerates.

Abstract:
This article provides an overview of existing instruments measuring self-efficacy for English language learning in both first and second language acquisition fields and their reliability and validity evidence. It also describes the development and use of the Questionnaire of English Language Self-Efficacy (QESE) scale, designed specifically for English language learners (ELLs), and presents an overview of the research findings from empirical studies related to its psychometric properties. A growing body of literature has begun to document encouraging evidence of ELL students’ self-efficacy belief measures and the utility of the QESE in particular. The information pertaining to the QESE is quite encouraging from measurement perspectives and fills the gap in the literature by providing a reliable and valid instrument to measure ELLs’ self-efficacy in various cultures. This paper concludes with evidence for internal consistency, test-retest reliability, structural, generalizability, and external aspects of the construct validity of the QESE. This paper contributes to the growing interest in these skills by reviewing the measures of self-efficacy in the field of second-language acquisition and the findings of empirical research on the development and use of a self-efficacy scale for ELLs.

Purpose: This research aims to evaluate the mediating role of SDG Goal Four target seven Quality Education for Sustainable Development (QESD) and Quality Education for Global Citizenship (QEGC) in the Performance of Christian Higher Education Institution Management. Theoretical Framework: The research study developed a conceptual framework and questionnaire for evaluating the mediation role of QESD and QEGC in the Performance of Christian Higher Education Institution Management. Design/Methodology/Approach: The study examines the observation of 647 respondents from six universities of various disciplines like Medical, Engineering, and Arts and Science. PLS-SEM is used for the analysis of data and hypothesis testing. Findings: The study reveals that SDG Goal Four target seven QESD and QEGC has a partial mediation in the performance of Christian Higher Education Institution Management. Research, Practical, Social Implication: The research construct and variables are identified from the indicators of SDG Goal Four target seven of Quality Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship. Therefore, this study will be a model for further research for evaluating the implementation of SDG Goal Four target seven in other Higher Education Institutions Management. Originality/Value: The originality and value in this article are the conceptual framework and questionnaire prepared and proved for evaluating the SDG Goal Four target seven QESD and QEGC in the evaluation of Higher Education Institution Management Performance.

Abstract:
Quasi-emulsion solvent diffusion (QESD) crystallizations can improve the micromeritic properties of drugs and excipients. A solution is dispersed in a miscible antisolvent as a transient emulsion. Using this technique, substances that normally crystallize in the form of e.g., needles, agglomerate into spherical, hollow particles. A disadvantage of QESD crystallizations is that the particle size of the agglomerates decreases with an increased solvent fraction of the mother liquor. Therefore, in batch production, many consecutive runs have to be performed, which is a time- and material-intensive process. The aim of this study was to convert a previously used lab-scale batch crystallizer into a mixed-suspension, mixed-product removal (MSMPR) crystallizer, since the batch size could be simply increased by increasing the run time of the system. The mean residence time (MRT) and solvent fraction in the system was predicted and verified using actual measurement curves. The experiments showed that >50 g QESD metformin hydrochloride could be crystallized in a single run, without observing a large shift in the particle size, while maintaining good flowability. Observations regarding the effect of the MRT on the particle size distribution could be verified for the production on a larger scale than previously described.

Abstract: The present study was focused on the spherical crystallization of an asthmatic drug, Montelukast Sodium (MLS) using quasi emulsion solvent diffusion (QESD) technique in which distilled water was an external phase and the internal phase consisted of Ethanol which acts as good solvent and Ethyl acetate as a bridging liquid for recrystallization and agglomeration process. Apart from being poorly water soluble, MLS exhibits poor flow and compressibility. The spherical agglomeration was carried out in the presence of different stabilizers like acacia, PEG 4000, sodium lauryl sulphate, span 40 and tween 80. The prepared agglomerates were characterized in terms of production yield, drug content, solubility, in-vitro release profile, Xray diffraction (XRD), and Fourier transform infra red spectroscopy (FT-IR).The optimized spherical agglomerates exhibited excellent physicochemical and micromeritic properties, solubility and dissolution rate when compared with pure drug .The XRD also revealed a characteristic decrease in crystallinity. The dissolution studies demonstrated a marked increase in the dissolution rate. FTIR study reveals there are no chemical changes in prepared recrystallized agglomerates. The considerable improvement in the dissolution rate of MLS from optimized crystal formulation was attributed to the wetting effect of polymers, decreased drug crystallinity, altered surface morphology and micronization. If this process can be scaled-up to manufacturing level, this technology has the potential to provide the directly compressed spherical agglomerates with improving the physicochemical and micromeritic properties

The English language has become an essential means for communication and studies for international students globally. With the increasing number of international students trooping to China to study diverse courses which are taught in the English medium, there is a need to address challenges faced by international students from non-native English speaking countries. The study adopted an embedded mixed-method approach where face-to-face interviews and focus group discussions were conducted on freshmen international students taking English for Academic Purposes (EAP) in a specific faculty of a university in China. The interviews were supplemented by the Questionnaire of English Self-Efficacy (QESE) to measure their perceived English self-efficacy after the course. An online questionnaire on English Course Evaluation (ECE) was used to measure the students’ assessment of the course. The findings of the study offer insights into the effect of the intervention, challenges faced by students during the course, and suggestions on things to consider during the implementation of English courses for non-native English students in the future.

Ibuprofen is one of the common NSAIDs having poor water solubility, low dissolution, weak flow properties and reduced compressibility. These downsides of ibuprofen crystal upraise crucial challenges during development of a dosage form. The aim of this present work was to modify the physical form of ibuprofen by changing micromeritic properties. Seven different formulations of ibuprofen agglomerates such as F-1, F-2, F-3, F-4, F-5, F-6 and F-7 were prepared to convert the needle shaped ibuprofen crystals into agglomerates so that the desired micromeritic properties can be achieved. In this study, agglomerates of ibuprofen were prepared by Quasi emulsion solvent diffusion (QESD) method in association with two surfactants (sodium lauryl sulphateand Tween 80) at three different concentrations for each. The micromeritic properties of the prepared agglomerates were evaluated for bulk density, tapped density, Carr’s index, Hausner’s ratio, angle of repose along with the release behavior of agglomerates. From dissolution study, it was observed that the release of drug was directly proportional to the surfactant concentration. Asthma is characterized by chronic inflammation and a variable degree of airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR). Our previous papers documented a role for Nociceptin/Orphanin FQ (N/OFQ) and its receptor N/OFQ peptide (NOP) in AHR. Therefore, the aim of this study was to improve the bioavailability of N/OFQ by developing solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs). N/OFQ-loaded SLNs were prepared by the Quasi Emulsion Solvent Diffusion (QESD) technique and then characterized. Brown Norway rats were sensitized to ovalbumin (OVA) and treated with an intratracheal administration of saline solution or N/OFQ-SLN. Then, 24 h after the last challenge, functional histological and molecular evaluations were performed. SLNs showed a mean diameter of 233 ± 0.03 nm, a polydispersity index (PDI) value around 0.28 ± 0.02 and a drug release percentage of 84.3. The in vitro release of N/OFQ from SLNs showed that the release of the peptide starts already after two hours of incubation. Animals receiving N/OFQ-SLN showed a significative decrease in allergen-induced AHR compared to the control group. These results showed the positive effects of N/OFQ-SLNs on the inflammatory process and on the mechanical properties of the airways, suggesting that the innovative nanotechnological approach may be therapeutically beneficial for asthmatic patients.

Spherical agglomeration is a novel method for creating pharmaceutical dosage forms that are immediately compressible, the process of spherical agglomeration, which improves the powder's qualities such as particle size, shape, flow characteristics, solubility, and bioavailability of pharmaceutical medicinal ingredients, includes transforming tiny crystals into a spherical shape. The spherical crystallization was improved for use with hydrophilic polymers in order to improve the dissolution properties of pharmaceuticals that are poorly water-soluble. The flow characteristics, particle size analysis, compression, and dissolution behaviour of the spherical agglomerates were also improved. Wet spherical agglomeration (WSA) and the quasiemulsion solvent diffusion method (QESD) are the two most used methods for crystallizing spheres. Additionally, these approaches have two additions: the ammonia diffusion system (ADS) and crystallo-coagglomeration (CCA).The neutralization technique is another method used in this procedure. Any of the aforementioned methods can be employed simultaneously for both crystallization and agglomeration. The crystal physical characteristics, including their shape, polymorphism detection using x-ray powder diffraction (XRD), and thermodynamic characteristics using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), were examined.

Language learning strategies (LLSs) and the elements that affect their usage, like Self-efficacy (SE) and gender variations during the learning process, both of which have been significant areas of focus in the teaching of English as a foreign language (EFL) to students of other languages, as they play a pivotal role in the learning process. in the Libyan context research on this topic is relatively scarce. As a result, this study was conducted to determine if there is a link between LLS and SE; in order to accomplish this goal, this research surveyed 60 students who enrolled at the University of Tripoli (33 males and 27 females). Both SILL and the QESE were used in the process of data collection. To analyze the data, the software of (SPSS) was used to examine the data gathered. It was concluded that students' utilization of LLSs was at a moderate level, with a noticeable gender difference; although students reported high levels of self-efficacy, a weak positive association across LLSs and SE was reported. The conclusion of the research shall be valuable to both researchers and teachers, as the study will provide ways to better understand students' current views and strategy utilization.

Intranasal administration has assumed in the last years an increasing value as an alternative strategy for the systemic adsorption of drugs, as an alternative to oral and parenteral routes thanks to the high vascularized nasal mucosa. Nevertheless, different drug features may restrict its absorption through the nasal mucosa with an insufficient diffusion to the systemic circulation. Several technological strategies are under investigation to improve drug absorption during nasal formulation design and production. The use of bioadhesive polymers can be considered a valid approach to pursue the aforementioned goal. Based on this consideration, Eudragit® Retard RS100 and RL100 resins were selected as positively charged copolymers to prepare polymeric NPs with potential mucoadhesive properties suitable for intranasal application. NPs were produced by the Quasi-emulsion Solvent Evaporation (QESD) method and loaded with diclofenac acid (DIC) or its epolamine salt (DIEP). Preliminary investigations were performed to obtain the optimized blank formulation and drugs loaded NPs evaluating different parameters that can affect particles size and polydispersity. The optimized formulations unloaded and loaded with DIC and DIEP were further evaluated for their thermotropic behavior by differential scanning calorimetry. Mucoadhesive evaluation was assessed by measuring variation in zeta potential and by turbidimetric assay after incubation of particles with mucin in simulated nasal fluid (SNF) at 37 °C at different time points (0, 1 and 24 h) compared to the pure suspensions. Stability of DIC and DIEP loaded NPs was also evaluated in SNF to predict potential aggregation phenomena after nasal administration. Finally, in vivo experiments showed absence of toxicity on the nasal mucosa of mice.

T. S. Eliot, the well-known English poet, and Mehdi Akhavan Sales, one of the pioneers of the Modern Persian Poetry, have applied mythologies in their poetry. The present study is an attempt to make a comparison between Eliot’s early poems, i.e. “The Waste Land” and “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock”, and Akhavan’s two poems, “Qese-e Shahriar-e Shahr-e Sangestan” [The Story of the King of the Stoned City] and “Khan-e Hashtom va Adamak” [The Eighth Task and the Puppet] from a Tolkienian perspective of mythopoeia. Laying their arguments in Jost’s fourth category of comparative studies (themes and motifs), the present authors attempt to depict the similarities and differences in the way the poets approach mythopoeia as a literary technic. In doing so, the mythic figures created by the poets are detected and the characteristics attributed to each are reviewed in the socio-political context of the poets’ life. Then, the philosophical viewpoint implied in creating the myth will be discussed. The findings of the study reveal that while there are similarities in the literary devices and techniques (i.e., imagery, pattern of hero’s journey, …) that the poets have applied, there are differences in terms of poetic language and the kind of myths each poet creates or alludes to. Finally, it will be argued that in applying mythmaking, both poets seem to be warning their fellowmen against the evil life they are involved in. Thus, it is claimed that from a Tolkienian perspective, both poets are mythopoeic both in vision and method.

Dutasteride (DU) (5α-reductase inhibitor) that is used for the treatment of benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH), DU has low water solubility and poor oral absorption that classified as Biopharmaceutics Classification System (BCS) class II. This study aims to improve the physical properties of Dutasteride (DU) like solubility by the preparation of microsponge (MS). Microsponges are spherical in shape, sponge-like structure, polymeric delivery systems composed of porous microspheres with a large internal surface area. Nine formulations of DU MS had been prepared by the technique of quasi-emulsion solvent diffusion (QESD) and utilizing Eudragit S100 as major polymer and glycerol as a plasticizer that dissolved in dichloromethane where polyvinyl alcohol PVA serves as a stabilizer in the external phase. The formulas were employed to optimize preparation variable factors include; different drug to polymer ratio, the addition of different concentrations of PVA, and stirring rate. Optimization was done using the response of production yield (PY), entrapment efficiency EE), particle size, and in vitro drug release; The results display that the best ratio of (drug: polymer) was 5:1, and the best rate of stirring was 1,000 rpm respecting the optimum characteristics of microsponge. The best-selected formula prepared (F2) was underwent to evaluation regarding saturated solubility, FTIR, DSC, and SEM and showed 1.28 folds enhancement in saturated solubility compared to plain DU, and was well fabricated with high entrapment efficiency (83.7% ± 1.37), production yield (85.61% ± 0.6), and particle size of 77μm. Moreover, the percent release of DU was 75.74 ± 1.5 after 4 hours, with good compatibility as confirmed by XRD, SEM, DSC, and fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis. It can be concluded that the selected formula prepared (F2) of DU microsponge is reassuring and promising drug delivery with improved pharmaceutical physical properties.

The present study was designed to prepare Kaempferol loaded nanoparticles (KFP-Np) and evaluate hepatoprotective and antioxidant effects in hepatocellular carcinoma models. KFP was encapsulated with hydroxypropyl methylcellulose acetate succinate (HPMC-AS) and Kollicoat MAE 30 DP polymers to prepare nanoparticles (Nps) by quasi-emulsion solvent diffusion technique (QESD). The prepared Nps were evaluated for different pharmaceutical characterization to select the optimum composition for the in vivo assessment. An animal model of cadmium chloride (CdCl2)-induced hepatocellular carcinoma in Male Sprague Dawley rats was used in vivo to test the antioxidant and hepatoprotective capacity of free and encapsulated KFP. The prepared Npsshowed nanometric size, low PDI, high drug load as well as encapsulation with a better drug release profile. There was a significant decrease in the increased serum levels of alanine transaminase (ALT), total bilirubin (TBiL), and aspartate transaminase (AST), and the lipid peroxidation’s (MDA) level was attenuated, and levels of markers of the cell antioxidant defence system were restored including Glutathione S-transferase (GST), glutathione (GSH), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) via oral pre-treatment with KFP-Np (50 mg/kg b.w. (body weight), 6 weeks). KFP-Np significantly declines an mRNA expression of interleukin-1β (IL-1β), IL-6, and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) as well as decreased nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells (NF-κB) protein expression. It also upregulated the mRNA expression and protein expression of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) and heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1). While comparing the protective effects of KFP encapsulated in Kollicoat MAE 30 DP and HPMC-AS, Nps was found to be betterthan free KFP. Insummary, result indicate that encapsulation of KFP in NPs provides a potential platform for oxidative stress induce liver injury.

AbstractQuasi-emulsion solvent-diffusion crystallization (QESD) is a type of spherical crystallization which can be used as a particle design method to improve the flowability and micromeritic properties of drugs or excipients. Spherical particles are generated by dispersing a solvent phase in an antisolvent so that a transient emulsion is formed. Within the droplets the material can crystallize and agglomerate into spherical, hollow particles. Surfactants, such as surface-active polymers like hypromellose, are often required to stabilize the quasi-emulsion. To gain further understanding for the role of the stabilizer, a new screening-method was developed which compared different surface active polymers in solution at similar dynamic viscosities rather than at a set concentration. The dynamic viscosities of a low-viscosity grade hypromellose solution used in the previous publications describing the QESD crystallization of metformin hydrochloride by the authors was used as a target value. QESD crystallizations of metformin hydrochloride (MF) and celecoxib showed that the type of stabilizer and whether it is dissolved in the solvent or antisolvent has an effect on the agglomerates. For MF, the type of hypromellose used can have a significant influence on the properties of the agglomerates. More polymers could be used to stabilize the transient emulsion of celecoxib than previously found in literature. Furthermore, QESD crystallizations seem to be more robust when the stabilizer is dissolved in the antisolvent, however this can lead to a reduced drug load of the agglomerates.

Researchers and practitioners in the field of second language acquisition have come to realize the importance of non-cognitive skills such as self-efficacy and self-regulation in students’ learning of a second language. However, there has been limited systematic research on such measures in the second language context and the validity and reliability of their intended use and interpretation. The Questionnaire of English Self-Efficacy (QESE) was designed to measure English language learners’ self-efficacy beliefs. This study applied the Rasch model to evaluate the item-level psychometric properties of QESE and its adequacy for use in the Vietnamese context. The results demonstrated that the QESE items predominantly measured a unidimensional construct (i.e. self-efficacy beliefs in learning English as a second language). The scale was highly reliable, and its rating categories functioned effectively, reflecting varying levels of self-efficacy beliefs. Although the item difficulty hierarchical order was generally consistent with the anticipated hierarchy within the Vietnamese context, there were a few surprising results, contradicting what was previously found with Chinese students. For example, item 28 ( writing diaries in English) was a very difficult task for Vietnamese students, but a previous study showed that it was a moderately difficult task for Chinese students. Item 5 ( writing blogs on the Internet) was an easy task for Vietnamese students, but it was a difficult task for Chinese students. The findings provide directions for future research and have implications for helping professionals provide best practices that meet the unique educational needs of English language learners.

Métodos: Pesquisa bibliográfica, por meio de estratégias de busca utilizando combinações entre os termos avaliação, qualidade, Enfermagem, egressos e educação superior; pesquisa documental: análise de PPP de cursos de graduação em Enfermagem do município de São Paulo (SP) que disponibilizam o documento para consulta pública nos sites das instituições de ensino superior. Resultados: Pesquisa bibliográfica: ET1: artigos internacionais, enfoque às competências clínicas (predomínio da visão tecnicista), ausência da concepção de QESE; ET2: artigos nacionais, aspectos com necessidades de melhorias: infraestrutura das IES, interdisciplinaridade, competências gerenciais e de liderança, superação do modelo hospitalocêntrico, dinamização das práticas docentes e a superação da dicotomia teoria e prática. Pesquisa documental: 6 dos 33 cursos de SP disponibilizam publicamente seus PPP; a maioria das preconizações das DCN de Enfermagem esteve presente nos documentos analisados. The present study investigated the relationship between Pakistani tertiary-level ELLs’ trait EI and ESE with ELLs’ English language achievement (ELA). The study employed a quantitative correlational research design involving a nonprobability homogenous convenience sampling technique. Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire and Questionnaire of English Self-efficacy (QESE) were administered to collect data from 357 (Male = 127, Female = 230) undergraduate ELLs. Descriptive statistics, correlation, and regression analysis were run using SPSS version-22 (2013) to draw results. The results revealed a statistically insignificant relationship between the trait EI and English language achievement. QESE was also negatively correlated with English language achievement.

Technology-enhanced learning environments (TELEs) have provided language learners with various opportunities to promote their self-sufficient learning outside the classroom lately. Thus, language learners are no longer passive recipients of language; in contrast, they are autonomous learners who apply self-regulated learning strategies through the medium of technology during their English learning process, which in turn can be associated with their English self-efficacy perceptions. Therefore, the current study aimed to present an investigation into the relationship between preparatory school students’ use of technology-based self-regulated English learning strategies and their perceived English self-efficacy as well as the predictability of employing the strategies on their self-efficacy beliefs. Applying a quantitative research design, the data were collected through the Technology-based Self-Regulated English Learning Strategies Questionnaire (TSRLSQ) developed by An et al. (2020) and the Questionnaire of English Self-Efficacy (QESE) developed by Wang (2004). A statistically significant positive relationship was found between students' use of technology-assisted English learning strategies and their perceived English self-efficacy beliefs. In addition, regression analysis results showed that goal setting and learner evaluation, motivational regulation, and technology-based song-movie learning strategies were strong predictors explaining the change in students’ self-efficacy in four language skills.

Abstract:
Ebastine (EBS) is a poorly water-soluble antihistaminic drug; it belongs to the class II group according to the biopharmaceutical classification system (BCS). The aim of the present work was to enhance the solubility, dissolution rate and micromeritic properties of the drug, by formulating it as spherical crystal agglomerates by Quasi Emulsion Solvent Diffusion (QESD) method.
 Spherical crystal agglomerates (SCAs) were prepared in presence of three solvents dichloromethane (DCM), water and chloroform as a good solvent, poor solvent and bridging solvent respectively. Agglomeration of EBS involved the use of some hydrophilic polymers like polyethylene glycol 4000 (PEG 4000), polyvinyl pyrrolidine K30 (PVP K30), D-?-tocopheryl polyethylene glycol 1000 succinate (TPGS) and ?. cyclodextrin. The pure drug (EBS) and its agglomerates with and without polymers were characterized for their drug content, percentage yield, solubility, in vitro drug release study and micromeritic property as well as by optical microscope, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), FTIR spectroscopic studies, Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and X-ray Diffraction (XRD). The results of this work showed that there was a marketed enhancement in the solubility with improvement in dissolution rate, physiochemical properties, decrease in crystallinity and alteration in the crystal habit of the drug especially in presence of polymers. The best results were obtained with formula prepared by the combination of PEG 4000 and ?. cyclodextrin in the agglomeration process of (EBS).
