Abstract:
Quantum field theory (QFT) and general relativity (GR) are pillars of modern physics, each supported by extensive experimental evidence. QFT operates within Lorentzian spacetime, while GR ensures local Lorentzian geometry. Despite their successes, these frameworks diverge significantly in their estimations of vacuum energy density, leading to the cosmological constant problem—a discrepancy where QFT estimates exceed observed values by 123 orders of magnitude. This paper addresses this inconsistency by tracing the cooling evolution of the universe’s gauge symmetries—from SU(3)×SU(2)×U(1) at hig

General Relativity (GR) is known to break down at singularities. However, it is expected that quantum corrections become important when the curvature is of the order of Planck scale avoiding the singularity. By calculating the effect of tidal forces on a freely falling inertial frame, and assuming the least possible size of the frame to be of the Planck length, we show that the Lorentz frames cease to exist at a finite distance from the singularity. Within that characteristic radius, one cannot apply GR nor Quantum Field Theory (QFT) as we know them today. Additionally, we consider other quant

Before we ask what the quantum gravity theory is, there is a legitimate quest to formulate a robust quantum field theory in curved spacetime (QFTCS). Several conceptual problems, especially unitarity loss (pure states evolving into mixed states), have raised concerns over several decades. In this paper, acknowledging the fact that time is a parameter in quantum theory, which is different from its status in the context of General Relativity (GR), we start with a “quantum first approach” and propose a new formulation for QFTCS based on the discrete spacetime transformations which offer a way to
