Abstract:

Earth Observation (EO) data are an indispensable source of useful geospatial information, which can be efficiently combined with other data within the latest released open-source QGIS software. This paper aims: i) to present a general overview of the QGIS EO plugins; ii) to promote the Lifelong Learning (LLL) courses for open-source QGIS software tools provided by the Geo-SEE Institute from Skopje; iii) to appreciate the advantages of open-source QGIS for developing and improving EO applications. The training objectives are to enhance the research, development tools and technologies of QGIS and stimulate the obtaining and disseminating knowledge to utilize the open-source GIS software. Furthermore, there is a growing need to increase the number of well-educated professionals on issues related to the EO sciences in South-East Europe (SEE), who are better prepared for the labor market in today's digital revolution by using QGIS tools and plugins combined with other related GIS software platforms provided by the OSGeo family.

Abstract:

To date, the forestry industry has obtained certain experience in implementing Open Source software. The article describes Open Source QGIS-plugins for the tasks of forest fires and forest resources monitoring and management in research and applications. The functionality analysis performed aimed to simplify the selection of tools for a forest geoinformation project in desktop and web versions. The article presents a brief description of presently downloadable QGIS (version 3.18.1) forestry plugins. The analysis of external QGIS-plugins for working with forest resources and fires has shown the heterogeneity of research. This prevents from identifying trends so far. An option for future research subjects may be development of plugins with available data as cartographic services for territories of different spatial coverage, taking into account that archived data and their availability is a key asset in the forestry. Subject-related forest scope in the present-day repository of QGIS-plugins tends to be relatively limited. Transport and environmental applications implemented in the form of GIS tools are more numerous and can solve individual tasks in the orest project. A review of plugins functionality, compatibility to the core QGIS and their performance should be performed on a regular basis, following new QGIS versions.

Abstract:

Forest industry today has some experience of using Open Source-programs. The article describes the Open Source QGIS plugins to solve the forestry challenges for the forest fire management and forest resources in scientific and applied research. Undertaken analysis will simplify selection of tools for a forest geoinformation project in Desktop and Web versions. A general brief description of modern plugins in QGIS (version 3.18.1) is given, and forestry plugins are characterized. An analysis of external QGIS plugins for working with forest resources and forest fires showed the heterogeneity of research, which has not identified any trends yet. Development of plugins with available data as map services for territories of different spatial coverage may be an option for the future research, while the ability to access archived data is important for the forest industry. The niche of thematic forest tasks in the modern QGIS plugin repository continues to be quite narrow. Transport and environmental applications implemented in GIS tools are more numerous and can solve some tasks of a forest project. Such review of plugins’ functionality should be done on a regular basis, following new developments and new versions of QGIS software.

Abstract:

Abstract Previous research has not discussed about the prediction method of carbon stock changes using open-source software. This research aims to fill the gap by using QGIS as open-source software in. The method used is Support Vector Machine and Cellular Automata, which is only found in QGIS software, including QGIS 3.8.0 and QGIS 2.18.24 with Pip-Python 3. The results show that SVM and Cellular Automata algorithms in QGIS software successfully predicted land cover in the context of carbon stock change. This study shows the prediction of carbon stock changes due to land cover conversion in Salatiga City for the period 2019-2029 decreased by 9,202.77 tons C, where carbon emission was 10,313.47 tons C and carbon sequestration was 1,110.70 tons C. The prediction of carbon stock changes in Salatiga City is needed to reference local governments to formulate mitigation and adaptation efforts to global climate change.

I compare two GIS programs which can be used to create cartographic animations—the commercial Esri ArcGIS and the free and open-source QGIS. ArcGIS implements animation through the “Time Slider” while QGIS uses a plugin called “TimeManager.” There are some key similarities and differences as well as functions unique to each plugin. This analysis examines each program’s capabilities in mapping time series data. Criteria for evaluation include the number of steps, the number of output formats, input of data, processing, output of a finished animation, and cost. The comparison indicates that ArcGIS has more control in input, processing, and output of animations than QGIS, but has a baseline cost of $100 per year for a personal license. In contrast, QGIS is free, uses fewer steps, and enables more output formats. The QGIS interface can make data input, processing, and output of an animation slower.

Purpose. The article aims is to demonstrate the possibilities, methods and advantages of using Quantum GIS (QGIS) plugins and mobile applications for digital geological mapping, input and primary analysis of field geodata in Earth Sciences – Structural Geology, Engineering Geology, Hydrogeology, Ecology, Geophysics, etc. Methodology. The most important tools and plugins of QGIS, an open source GIS program, that works on the most widespread platforms – Windows, MacOS X, Linux and applications on Android, iOS for digital mapping, structural geodata analysis, and visualization are used. Results. The most important tools and plugins of QGIS (Georeferencer GDAL, GarminCustomMap, Profile Tool, VoGIS-ProfilTool, qProf, qgSurf, Stereonet, qgis2web, and QField mobile application) are analyzed. Their using for digital geological mapping, input and analysis of structural and other geodata, construction of 2D topographic profiles, visualization of geodata in web browsers are briefly described. Scientific novelty. Tools and plugins of QGIS, which are necessary for certain purposes for working with various types of data on geological maps, their analysis, and construction of geological and geophysical profiles are defined. QGIS software applications allow to add new plugins, create your own notations for digital mapping that can be used to solve specific geological tasks and analyze geospatial and geological data, or add ready-made specialized geological notations according to geological standards. Practical significance. Complex using of basic, additional external plugins of QGIS and specialized geological markings contributes to effective field digital mapping, modern visualization of various types of geological maps with spatial reference, creation of new digital electronic and complex demonstration maps for printing and visualization in web browsers, construction topographic and geological 2D profiles, GIS analysis of structural geodata, slope analysis, etc. Data obtained in QGIS can be imported into such specialized programs as Petrel Exploration & Production Software Platform (Shlumberger), MOVE Software (Midland Valley), etc. Keywords: Quantum GIS or QGIS, QGIS tools and plugins, digital geological mapping, QField, GIS analysis of structural geodata, slope analysis.

QGIS is a free and open-source software that allows viewing, editing, and analyzing georeferenced data. It is a Geographic Information System (GIS) software composed by tools that allow to manipulate geographic information and consequently to create maps which help to get a better understanding and organization of geospatial data. Unfortunately, maps created directly in the GIS desktop software are not automatically transferred to a website. This research aimed to compare publishing capabilities in different QGIS plugins to create Web Maps. This study analyzes four QGIS plugins (QGIS2Web, QGIS Cloud, GIS Cloud Publisher and Mappia Publisher), performing a comparison between them, considering their advantages and disadvantages, the free and subscription plans, the tools offered by each plugin and other generic aspects. The four plugins were tested in a specific case study to automatically obtain different Web Maps. This study could help users to choose the most adequate tools to publish Web Maps under QGIS software.

Abstract. In the last decades, geography teachers have been trying to figure out how to adopt GIS (Geographic Information Systems) tools for their high school classes. Predominantly, teachers have come to use commercial versions. Lately, it has been QGIS getting more attention, especially in environments where teachers do not have access to sufficient funding. Nevertheless, there is a lack of ample research results and available teaching materials for geography teachers that want to give QGIS in their lessons a go. This paper presents our attempt to bridge this gap. We have set several goals in our search for the possibilities of adopting QGIS tools for high school geography lessons. The main one was to learn about the strategies that students have when they are learning about QGIS. Furthermore, we wanted to know what knowledge the students would demonstrate after attending a short course on QGIS basics and if their learning strategies during the lectures would impact their results. To find out, we created a set of 10 lessons and tested most of them on students from a high school in Brno, Czech Republic. The results of two pilot studies show that our research has not ended and that further investigation needs to be made about the circumstances that can affect a successful adaptation of QGIS tools in high school geography education.

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah membuat webgis dengan menggunakan perangkaat lunak QGIS dan QGISCloud untuk memberikan informasi terkini dan detail terkait lokasi pengelolaan dan pengeboran minyakdan gas bumi di Pulau Madura. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah survei lapang dalam mendapatkan informasi yang akurat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan QGIS sebagai pembuatan webgis dapat memberikan hasil yang baik pada saat dioperasikan melalui komputer ataupun telepon seluler. Pembaruan data informasi dilakukan dengan survei lapang, dimana dari hasil tersebut bahwa perusahaan yang melakukan eksplorasi sudah tidak melakukan pengeboran di lokasi tersebut. Perangkat lunak QGIS terbukti mampu memberikan hasil yang baik dengan memanfaatkan alat tambahan QGIS Cloud karena dalam pengolahan datanya dapat dilakukan secara daring dan luring. Kesimpulan yang didapatkan bahwa data pengeboran di Pulau Madura perlu adanya pembaruan dalam memberikan informasi yang akurat dan relevan.

El objetivo de este artículo es instruir en la construcción de un plugin QGIS mediante un procedimiento paso a paso y la integración de las herramientas necesarias. Las herramientas que se integran para la construcción de un plugin son: QGIS 3.8, Python 3.7 y la biblioteca PyQGIS. Un plugin es un pequeño programa complementario de otro programa dándole un mejor funcionamiento al programa receptor. Como resultado se obtiene un plugin con su interfaz gráfica y con esto, el usuario final podría manipularlo dependiendo de la tarea programada en QGIS.

This paper presents new Quantum GIS plugin for Czech cadastral data and its development. QGIS is a rapidly developing cross-platform desktop Geographic Information System (GIS) released under the GNU GPL. QGIS is written in C++, and uses the Qt library. The plugin is developed in C++, too. The new plugin can work with Czech cadastral data in the new Czech cadastral exchange data format called VFK (or NVF). Data are accessed through VFK driver of the OGR library. The plugin should facilitate the work with cadastral data by easy search and presenting well arranged information. Information is displayed in the way similar to web applications, thus the control is friendly and familiar for users. The plugin supports interaction with map using QGIS functionality and it is able to export various cadastral reports. This paper provides ideas which can be generalized to develop QGIS plugin dealing with specific data.

Abstract In the current era, the digitization of geographical data is a transverse need of several engineering sectors, including the hydraulic networks management. Thus, water supply systems' modelling requires adequate tools in both the digitization and the simulation phases. This paper presents the QEPANET plugin, which aims at merging the flexibility of QGIS and the robustness of EPANET hydraulic simulations software. Several editing and graphical tools available with QEPANET are introduced to model new and existing water distribution systems, to read and modify existing text-based EPANET files, to run simulations and visualize results in a geo-referenced framework. In addition, an application is illustrated to underline the novelty and the practical functionality of the presented tool, such as 3D pipe lengths' automatic calculation and the supporting functionalities for the network drawing. Abstract. The Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) has 26 different Campi in several cities in the Parana State, Brazil; in total are 11 million m2 of area, with 500 thousand m2 of constructed area and 316 buildings. UFPR has more than 6000 employees &ndash; staff and administrative &ndash; about 50,000 undergraduate students and 10,000 graduate students. A great part of this academic community does not know completely the space where they work and study. If we consider the external public who has access to the UFPR these figures are even bigger. The unfamiliarity with space and its characteristics has direct impacts in several issues, such as management of resources (humans and materials), Campi infrastructure management, not only of the exterior but also of the interior of the buildings, security, and other issues that can be supported by the use of geoinformation. From this perspective, we have started a Project named UFPR CampusMap (UCM) whose main goal is to implement a Geographic Information System with information from the indoor and outdoor environments. Its main purpose is to provide an up-to-date database on the structure of the campus. Among its features is the search and definition of routes between points of interest. The study area is the Campus Centro Politécnico (Curitiba City). In this research we decided to use the cartographic representation in two different aspects: the floor plan that presents the building and rooms and a schematic map, when the visualization scale is bigger, to present the position of a room and the corridors. The schematic representation is also used as a basis for the routing algorithm. Both cartographic representations were derived from a database obtained in a vector file, which details such as doors, windows, stairs, and text. We used QGIS to edit and create the floor plan that has the geometry of the building and rooms. The schematic map construction is a time consuming task, since involves reducing the complexity of map details, while at the same time preserving the important characteristics (especially topology). In this research, the final goal is to produce a schematic map from floor plans, using a semiautomatic process. In this process, we have used both computational algorithms and manual processes. The schematic map is formed by the transition points &ndash; which represent the transition between corridors and rooms, stairs, and bathrooms, for example &ndash; and the lines connecting them. The position of the transition points is defined by the following rule: if the transition is a door, the point is placed in the middle of its length, and if the transition is a corridor, for example, a turning point, the point is placed at the end of one line and the beginning of the other. The lines representing the corridors were created manually, using QGIS software, by drawing the central line of the corridor’s polygon. It was verified in this process the need to create a tool to automatize the processes o edition and creation of the schematic map. Thus, we propose the development of a Python QGIS Plugin to perform the schematization process. The plugin consists of four distinct interfaces, each one with one task:<ol><li>First, the centroids of each entrance space (room, for instance) are automatically created;</li><li>Second, the "skeleton" line of the polygon referring to the corridor layer are created;</li><li>Third, it is created a line calculated by the smallest distance between the centroid of the room to the centerlinegenerated in the previous step</li><li>Fourth, this shorter line and the corridor are joined, turning this layer into a single layer.</li></ol>Figure 1 presents this process.After the process of schematization the layer is verified in order to correct topology errors, and to insert the room and corridors attributes. After this, the layer is inserted in a PostGIS database.

Abstract. Earth observation analysis workflows commonly require mass processing of time series data, with data volumes easily exceeding terabyte magnitude, even for relatively small areas of interest. Cloud processing platforms such as Google Earth Engine (GEE) leverage accessibility to satellite image archives and thus facilitate time series analysis workflows. Instant visualization of time series data and integration with local data sources is, however, currently not implemented or requires coding customized scripts or applications. Here, we present the GEE Timeseries Explorer plugin which grants instant access to GEE from within QGIS. It seamlessly integrates the QGIS user interface with a compact widget for visualizing time series from any predefined or customized GEE image collection. Users can visualize time series profiles for a given coordinate as an interactive plot or visualize images with customized band rendering within the QGIS map canvas. The plugin is available through the QGIS plugin repository and detailed documentation is available online (https://geetimeseriesexplorer.readthedocs.io/).

This QGIS plugin is expandable through XML configurations describing the assignment of options and inputs for a certain module. But how about embedding a precise workflow where the several processes don’t consist of a single GRASS module by force? Especially for a sequence of dependent tasks it makes sense to merge relevant GRASS functionality into an own and encapsulated QGIS extension. Its architecture and development is tested and combined with the Web Processing Service (WPS) for remote execution using the concept of hydrological response units (HRUs) as an example. The results of this assay may be suitable for discussing and planning other wizard-like geoprocessing plugins in QGIS that also should make use of an additional GRASS server.

Con la buena reputación del software libre de sistemas de información geográfica, se presenta la oportunidad para los cursos de pregrado adoptar estos sistemas, debido al ahorro y sobre todo por la calidad que puede ofrecer. El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar las percepciones de los estudiantes y profesor de la asignatura, sobre el uso del software libre Quantum GIS (QGIS) para enseñanza de Geoprocesamiento. Se aplicaron a los estudiantes cuestionarios con respuestas cerradas y abiertas, después realizaron análisis estadísticos. Se concluyó que 91% de los estudiantes no tenían conocimiento del QGIS; 87% lo utilizó por primera vez y QGIS fue bien evaluado por 89% de los estudiantes, lo que representa una excelente elección.

This paper focuses on Quantum GIS (QGIS), an open-source cross-platform application that allows to visualize geospatial data in various formats. The paper indicated the main advantages of QGIS web application (second version) – QGIS Web Client 2: free distribution; free access to open-source code, which allows to write or modify a script or program module; permission to modify the source code; the ability to install the program on various operating systems (Windows, Mac OS, Ubuntu, etc.); a large library of free modules for working with geodata; the ability to publish maps on the web using Mapserver and other analogs; the ability to download space images from different sources (Yandex, Google, Bing Aerial, etc.); the ability to post data and publish projects on the Internet using the QGIS Cloud plugin. The technical requirements for the design of the QWC2 web application are presented; instructions for installing and QWC2 configuration on the available infrastructure are also given. The testing and the functionality of QWC2 application were presented on practical examples (area / length / coordinate measurements; thumbnail / redline functionality; generation of permalinks; PDF printing; ability to export maps in different images; import WMS/WFS; map comparison).

Advances in technology for making maps based on satellite imagery make it very easy for users, including in the fields of geology and mining. As a cadet majoring in Mining geology at the Applied Techno Aviation Vocational School in Makassar, you should know and be able to use GPS and be able to process the data into a map using QGIS software, but on the other hand, there are no GPS tools and software in schools. Therefore, the UMI Community Service Institute (LPkM) through its novice service provider held a GPS Training for Making Maps Using QGIS Software. The method applied is to provide materials and training in a blended system, then monitoring and evaluation are carried out. The cadets can understand and use GPS, understand the basic concepts of maps, and can create maps using QGIS software after attending the training. The value of Sig.(2-tailed) was 0.0000.04, proving that there was a difference between before and after the training, so it can be concluded that the training had a positive impact on increasing the cadets' understanding regarding the use of GPS and QGIS.

In the field of road traffic and transportation, road inventory activities are needed to monitor or monitor the condition of road equipment. The proper data collection will facilitate evaluation and supervision by managers or supervisors of traffic and road transportation. The data collection of road equipment inventory data can be compiled manually or electronically, which is integrated with the road equipment information system. One of the electronic data collections is by utilizing QGIS, which is one part of the Geographic Information System (GIS). This study aims to measure the effectiveness of using QGIS in making road equipment inventory maps using survey data and questionnaires to determine the difference between manual inventory data collection and WebGIS-based inventory data collection. Data analysis used SPSS calculation to test data validity, reliability, normality, Wilcoxon test and N-Gain Score test. From this data, it is found that the use of QGIS in road equipment inventory mapping has an average effectiveness of 60.26%, with the interpretation criteria being quite effective.

Exposure to asbestos fibers implies a long-term risk for human health; therefore, the development of information systems that are able to detect the extent and status of asbestos over a certain territory has become a priority. This work presents a tool (based on the geographic information system open source software, QGIS) that is conceived for automatically identifying buildings with asbestos roofing. The area under investigation is the metropolitan area around Prato (Italy). The performance analysis of this system was carried out by classifying images that were acquired by the WorldView-3 sensor. These images are available at a low cost when compared with those obtained by means of aerial surveys, and they provide adequate resolution levels for roofing classification. The tool, a QGIS plugin, has shown fairly good performance in identifying asbestos roofing, with some false negatives and some false positives when applying a per-pixel classification. A performance improvement is obtainable when considering the percentage of asbestos pixels that are contained in each roof of the analyzed image. This value is also available with the plugin. In the future, this tool should make it possible to monitor the asbestos roof removal process over time in the area of interest, in accordance with other image data that give evidence of such removals.

The article is devoted to the problem of evaluating the detailing of spatial data. In geoinformatics, spatial data detailing determines how detailed a particular object is representeda map image, and the detail score allows you to analyze the permissible accuracy of spatial objects for a specific user task. An approach to the definition of detailing concept is proposed. The evaluation of the object’s detail depends on its characteristics: geometric, semantic, and topological. A study is being conducted to select the geometric characteristics of the object that reflect its detail. For linear objects, in addition to the characteristics of the line as a whole (length, number of points, sinuosity, average rotation angle), it is suggested to consider its smaller details, such as bends and triplets. A bend is a section of a line where the angle of rotation retains its sign. A triplet is a combination of three consecutive points. Based on the results of the study, the geometric characteristics that change in the trend depending on the scale were selected. The paper presents the developed software for assessing map detail—the MapAnalyser toolbar for the QGIS geoinformation system. The functional capabilities of the developed software are described. The toolbar allows you to get the geometric, semantic, and topological characteristics of a layer or set of layers, as well as to evaluate the graphical complexity of a map image based on RlE encoding. The program code is written in the PyQGIS language. The software has passed state registration and is hosted on the github server. With its help, new results were obtained on the evaluation of spatial data granularity. New software, embedded in QgIS, to assess the detail of the map and spatial data, based on taking into account geometric and symbolic (used in the display) parameters. The software allows to calculate the metrics of spatial data detail, as well as to assess the complexity of the cartographic image. It’s can be used in the integration of data obtained from different sources, assess the compliance of data detail and the map scale, to assess the complexity of the map for different purposes and scales.

This article presents an evaluation of the QGIS Processing Modeler from the point of view of effective cognition. The QGIS Processing Modeler uses visual programming language for workflow design. The functionalities of the visual component and the visual vocabulary (set of symbols and line connectors) are both important. The form of symbols affects how workflow diagrams may be understood. The article discusses the results of assessing the Processing Modeler’s visual vocabulary in QGIS according to the Physics of Notations theory. The article evaluates visual vocabularies from the older QGIS 2.x and newer 3.x versions. The paper identifies serious design flaws in the Processing Modeler. Applying the Physics of Notations theory resulted in certain practical recommendations, such as changing the fill colour of symbols, increasing the size and variety of inner icons, removing functional icons, and using a straight connector line instead of a curved line. Another recommendation was to provide a supplemental preview window for the entire model in order to improve user navigation in huge models. Objective eye-tracking measurements validated some results of the evaluation using the Physics of Notations. The respondents read workflows to solve different tasks and their gazes were tracked. Evaluation of the eye-tracking metrics revealed the respondents’ reading patterns of the diagram. Evaluation using both Physics of Notation theory and eye-tracking measurements inspired recommendations for improving visual notation. A set of recommendations for users is also given, which can be applied easily in practice using a contemporary visual notation.

Gandaki province has the good potentiality of hydro-electricity generation with existing twenty-nine hydro-electricity projects. Since the Province is rich in water resources, analysis of watersheds needs to be done for management, planning and identification of water as well as natural resources. GIS offers integration of spatial and no spatial data to understand and analyze the watershed processes and helps in drawing a plan for integrated watershed development and management. The Digital Elevation Model (DEM) available on the NASA-Earth data has been taken as a primary data for morphometric analysis of watershed in Gandaki Province using QGIS. Delineation of watershed was conducted from a DEM by computing the flow direction and using it in the Watershed tool. Necessary fill sink correction was made before proceeding to delineation. A raster representing the direction of flow was created using Flow Direction tool to determine contributing area. Flow accumulation raster was created from flow direction raster using Flow Accumulation Tool. A point-based method has been used to delineate watershed for each selected point. The selected point may be an outlet, a gauge station or a dam. The annual rainfall data from ground meteorological stations has been used in QGIS to generate rainfall map for the study of rainfall pattern in the province and watersheds using IDW Interpolation method. The present research work provides some major morphometric watershed parameters like drainage area, flow length, slope, drainage density and rainfall patterns for watersheds in Gandaki Province. Furthermore, the parameters were compared among the watersheds in Kaski. The results of this study can be used as a reference for proposing infrastructures in those watersheds and it can also be used for making policy by local government authorities related to Energy, Water Resources, Irrigation, and Infrastructures.

Este trabalho tem por objetivo descrever os procedimentos para aquisição de dados de elevação, bem como descrever o processamento desses dados para a produção de mapas morfométricos para o território brasileiro. Os dados de elevação trabalhados nessa pesquisa são um Modelo Digital de Elevação (MDE) em formato raster e o MDE Topodata, oriundo do Banco de Dados Morfométricos do Brasil. Para tanto, utilizou-se o software QGIS para hospedar o sistema de processamento desenvolvido, assim, abarcando a interface para manipulação dos dados pelos usuários. O processo para a produção dos mapas se deu a partir de implementação de códigos de processamento em linguagem python no software Aton. Os resultados apontam a extensa gama de produtos que podem ser gerados com técnicas de implementação de códigos de geoprocessamento por meio dos softwares utilizados. Esse trabalho irá subsidiar o planejamento e a gestão territorial por meio da análise de variáveis do relevo, bem como facilitará e servirá de base para futuros estudos nessa temática.

O plugin, denominado WebMapa, ainda em desenvolvimento, permite ao usuário adicionar elementos cartográficos às páginas da Web, tornando-os interativos e funcionais. O plugin WebMapa foi construído no software QGIS, utilizando a linguagem de programação python. O sistema foi desenvolvido como um mecanismo de busca que permite aos usuários escolherem informações e elementos de mapas, bem como simbolizá-los. As escolhas possíveis são os seguintes elementos de mapas: base cartográfica (ex.: OpenStreetMap, Google Maps), bússola, escala, localização do usuário no mapa, edição em tela, cálculo de rota entre pontos de partida e chegada. O resultado do processamento do plugin WebMapa foi construído como um Web site disponível no formato de saída .html (HTML - Hypertext Markup Language / Linguagem de marcação de hipertexto). Desta forma, o sistema se torna multiplataforma, uma vez que pode ser acessado como um web site em qualquer tipo de navegador Web independente do sistema operacional.

Abstract:

Abstract. The necessity for developing Hydropower plants a renewable energy source has emerged due to increase in energy demand and environmental concern, as non-renewable sources produce greenhouse gasses. Location analysis methodology for hydropower development has formerly depended upon onsite surveys and manual work which are tedious, time consuming and costly as compared to the work done on GIS environment. In current study an attempt has been made to construct a tool that integrate and automate the various hydrology tools available in QGIS for finding hydro potential site. Each tool perform different function and are linked according to the workflow as majority of these tools uses the output of the previous tool and thus are interdependent. Geoprocessing analysis is performed on DEM to generate fill sink, flow direction, flow accumulation, identification of stream network, head (falling height). Hydrological data (runoff) and Pour point location is taken as input to generate discharge value and watershed contributing to that point location respectively. Finally hydro potential is calculated by the tool and sites having high potential are identified. The model is tested on Hasdo bango hydro power plant site located in Korba district of Chhattisgarh. The hydro potential of the site evaluated from the model is 112MW which is close to the total installed capacity of the existing hydro power plant of 120MW.

Abstract:

SWMM is an open-source model and software developed by the US EPA for the simulation of rainfall-runoff and routing in water bodies, sewer systems and wastewater infrastructures. It has been applied in numerous practical works and research projects. For a new SWMM model, objects such as nodes, links and catchments can either be drawn via SWMM’s graphical user interface (GUI) or specified manually in a plain text file in “.inp” format (“input file”). Since the required data regarding sewer geometries and river systems are usually available as spatial data in a GIS environment, there is a need for user-friendly interfaces for the model setup. SWMM contains neither an import function for geodata nor processing tools as provided in geographic information systems (GIS) such as the open-source software QGIS. Existing approaches were script-based or required commercial all-in-one products. We developed a free and open-source QGIS plugin to generate SWMM models from geodata and to import existing SWMM input files into QGIS. An application example is presented to demonstrate the basic features and usage of the plugin.

Abstract:

Watershed delineation is the process of determining an area that contributes to the flow of rainfall (precipitation) into runoff to the outlet. The watershed delineation analysis in this study used the HEC-HMS version 4.4 and QGIS 3.16 . HEC HMS version 4.4 has GIS tools that have been directly integrated to facilitate the watershed delineation process. The study area in this research is the Tojo watershed which is located in Central Sulawesi Province. The digital elevation model (DEM) data source used is DEMNAS BIG with a spatial resolution is 8,1 meters. The results of watershed delineation using HEC-HMS 4.4 software are the same as the results of watershed delineation using QGIS 3.16 software. There is a slight difference in the watershed boundary in some parts when zoomed in. The watershed area produced by each GIS Softwares are HEC-HMS 212,583 km2, QGIS 212,5404 km2. The HEC-HMS 4.4 software gives quite good results on the boundary analysis of the Tojo watershed, so the HEC-HMS 4.4 software can also be used in other researches in the field of water resources.
