Abstract:
The Qilian Mountains, as the northeastern margin of the Tibetan Plateau, absorbed the crustal shortening and accommodated the left-lateral displacement of the Altun Tagh fault. Detailed geomorphologic study of river valleys on the northern margin of the Qilian Mountains showed that since the late Pleistocene the crustal uplift rate of the northern Qilian Mountains has been greater than the central part. Due to the extension of the Tibetan plateau between the Changma fault and the Yumen fault the latest belt of faults and folds was formed on the northern margin of the Qilian Mountains. The stud

The Qilian Mountains are a climate-sensitive area in northwest China, and extreme precipitation events have an important impact on its ecological environment. Therefore, considering the global warming scenario, it is highly important to project the extreme precipitation indices over the Qilian Mountains in the future. This study is based on three CMIP6 models (CESM2, EC-Earth3, and KACE-1-0-G). A bias correction algorithm (QDM) was used to correct the precipitation outputs of the models. AbstractThe growth and deformation history of the Qilian-Nan Shan thrust belt bounding the NE Qaidam Basin figures importantly in testing models of Tibetan Plateau uplift during the India-Asia collision. However, debate exists about the onset of uplift and exhumation of the Qilian-Nan Shan, with timing estimates ranging from early Paleocene to late Miocene. Here we report integrated analyses of magnetostratigraphy, anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility, sediment provenance, and paleoclimate (using environmental magnetic parameters) for Cenozoic fluvio-lacustrine strata from the Dahonggou secti

Detrital zircon fission-track (ZFT) analyses of river sediments can provide a comprehensive understanding of the exhumation history during prolonged orogenesis. Here, we applied the detrital thermochronology approach to the Qilian Shan orogenic belt.
