Full textThis thesis is about a type of narrative called, stories of prophets (qisas al-anbiya). It is of the kind that took place in medieval Arab literature. The heroes of this story are biblical figures and post biblical characters. We have chosen to study the following, a popular collection entitled 'ara'is al-madjalis fi qisas al-anbiya', by the narrator Abu Ishaq al-Tha'labi (m. 427 1035). This collection is composed of 32 narrative sequences (madjalis). The articulation of our work was around the following aspects: 1- accounts of the prophets' stories, pictures of a narrator and their works (part 1: 3 chapters). 2- a thematic presentation of the 32 narrative sequences (madjalis) which the collection consists of (part 2: 3 chapters) 3- the role of koran, biblical legends (al-isra'iliyyat), the work of exegetes, sacred storytellers (qussas) and the historiographers in this type of formation (part 3: 2 chapters). 4- an outline of the imaginary cosmogony in the first 3 sequences of the collection, just like a presentation of some fabulous animals (part 4: 2 chapters)
