Early of 1970s’, “Quality Function Deployment (QFD) was released by two Japan Professors - Yoji Akao and Osamu Mizuno, It was applied & proven widely at manufacturing industry in U.S.A. & Japan immediately and later on, also applied at Phillip electronic in Taiwan since 1988. The main function of “ QFD “ is to ensure the quality control on every production process that means, during the whole manufacturing process, to get stability of quality and to create an attractive product to satisfy customer. Also it emphasizes the preparation before production and surveys customers’ need by positioning customers’ level, to decide product design and ensure product & service may meet and satisfy customers’ need. Construction, or what we called “ the driving role of industries “, as it’s a basic need of life and it was related with all of other industries. So, construction industry always plays an important role in the whole industries and moving forward together with each other. The purpose of this research is to lead Quality Function Deployment – QFD technology into the chain stores construction application via Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) technology and to transfer customer’s requirements into design development to ensure every construction process and improve construction quality.

The number of people undergoing hemodialysis increases rapidly each year. The number of dialytic centers also escalates rapidly. Facing pressure form competition, medical providers believe quality service will retain patients. To ensure the quality of service, Quality Function Deployment would be a good tool for quality management. The purposes of this study are as following: 1.By the example of hemodialytic care, evaluate elements of demanded quality from patients at a community hospital. 2. Construct a comprehensive healthcare model for hemodialytic patients by Quality Function Deployment. 3. As according to customers’ needs, formulate the strategy to develop performance functions in a comprehensive healthcare model for hemodialytic patients. From October 1 to November 30 in 2006, randomized samples of 52 patients undergoing hemodailysis at least 3 months are included in this study. All 52 patients were interviewed and recorded. The elements of demanded quality are extracted from records of patients’ interview as customers’ needs. The target scores of elements of demanded quality are evaluated by enhancement strategy for building quality house table. The target performance functions are deducted with matrices of demanded quality v.s. performance measures, and performance measures v.s. performance functions in quality house tables by quality function deployment. The weighted elements of demanded quality in order are: the technique of puncture and hemostasis by duty nurse, the doctor’s health education by monthly blood sampling report, the cares of arterio-venous fistula, the distance to the hospital for hemodialysis, and a large hospital with many subspecialized departments. The weighted target performance functions by quality function deployment in order are: standard process of hemodialytic nursing care, standard process of arterio-venous fistula cares, training of specialist for hemodialysis, standard process of hemodialytic medical care, quality management of hemodialytic care. By quality function deployment, we realize the demanded quality of patients, and relative importance of medical service functions, therefore the directions of service function development for the hemodialytic care at this community teaching hospital.

Owing to severe global business competition, logistics management has thus become emergent. There are many studies dealing with this topic, but few of them are integrated. This thesis uses Quality Function Deployment as an integrated construct for understanding logistic-performance requirements and establishing priorities of logistic activities. In logistics-performance requirements, this thesis uses Balanced Score Card, a strategic management tool developed by Kaplan and Norton, as a multi-dimension performance framework. In order to improve the objectivity of QFD, the thesis adopts the method of Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to collect and analyze the opinions from experts and practitioners and calculate the weights of all indicators. Finally, one electronic company is cited to evidence the feasibility of this integrated construct.

Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is an organizational approach used to guide R&D, manufacturing, and marketing toward the development of products and services that satisfy the needs of the consumer. The QFD operations are performed by way of a diagram called the House of Quality (HOQ). The HOQ contains information about the customers'''''''' needs (what), mechanisms to address these needs (how), and the criterion for deciding which "how" provides the greatest customer satisfaction. A less familiar application of QFD is the implementation of the approach for the improvement of retail services. The objective of this research is to build a prototype retail QFD application. The prototype provides an HOQ architecture for analyzing the customers'''''''' needs and specifying the improvements. Two evaluation algorithms are proposed to assistant the manager in making decision. To better integrate QFD into the Management Information Systems (MIS) environment, interactive software is developed using the object oriented programming (OOP) representation scheme. The software provides an integrated workbench for building retail HOQs and designing retail service strategies.

Full textThe Quality Function Deployment methodology is totally directed to the client instead of the product, wherein the effort from all the involved departments allows the match between the goals and the offered product. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the actions that aim at satisfying those goals. These actions must be measurable, in order to provide analysis and optimization opportunities. Afterwards, the prioritization of these actions is carried out so that they are performed in the most efficient way. Throughout the thesis, the authors introduce the origin of the methodology, its structure and operation, an existing normalization and prioritization algorithm and the most common problems when using the QFD. A new simple, flexible and quantitative model is proposed, which includes: A strategic planning of organization that proposes the minimization of possible incompatibilities that may arise between its capabilities and customer requirements. Business variables at the different stages of the design in order to calculate with greater precision the value resulting from the prioritization and to allow nullity or uniformity of the relative importance of customer requirements. The qualitative fulfillment of the correlations of the QFD methodology is replaced by a quantitative aspect that aims to minimize the filling of errors and interpretation when using the methodology. The results from this model are analyzed and presented using a tool programmed in PHP.

ABSTRACT The hyperbaric oxygen chamber is a device used in the treatment of hyperbaric oxygen (HBOT) and is widely used as an important auxiliary equipment for decompression disorders, gas poisoning, wounds, anaerobic infections, sports medicine, anti-aging medicine, and medical cosmetology. Hyperbaric oxygen chambers have caused difficulties in hospital operation due to high construction cost; Taiwan's precision manufacturing industry is quite mature and should have the opportunity to produce hyperbaric oxygen chambers with high C/P values. This paper uses QFD to explore the corresponding relationship between the domestic design technology of hyperbaric oxygen chambers and customer needs, to obtain the importance of customer ordering the quality requirements, with product reliability, safety and functionality as the most important; hyperbaric oxygen chamber design requirements The priorities are (1) a complete understanding of the equipment use requirements, (2) good assembly techniques, (3) manufacturing and testing according to specifications, and the three projects are the highest priority; In addition, the use of the Kano’s model to identify three additional devices are all attractive quality attributes; companies can study the time and necessity of investment in development based on the research results. Research shows that if we can master the research and design capabilities of the front end of hyperbaric oxygen chamber manufacturing, we will be able to significantly increase corporate profits and competitiveness, under limited resources to achieve a win-win situation between the industry and customers, and promote the development of hyperbaric oxygen therapy in Taiwan. It is suggested that a growing need for long-term health care is a result of the society changes, such as diseases evolutions and changes in family structure as well as the increased probability of the mental and physical frailties and needs of extended care services due to the population aged. Given that the major customers of long-term care services are the elders, serious disability and vulnerable groups, attentions to the care quality have been drawn, which on the other hand, plays a key role for the assessment of long-term care policy and management within the nursing home. It is therefore, understood that the quality of long-term health care becomes an important issue in Taiwan. In consideration of our intention and the research purpose, the self administration questionnaire - Residents’ Perceptions of Service Quality and Importance Evaluation within a Nursing Home - designed based on the focus group, literature review and related experts’ suggestions is applied to our investigation. The questions are about five service quality dimensions provided by a nursing home - medical care, facilities and environment, administrative support, staff attitudes and other services as well as forty-five residents’ demanded quality elements. Eighty-five participants in this study came from the family members of current residents at Nursing Home of Taichung Hospital, and Quality Functions Deployment (QFD) was used to analyze the collected data. First of all, the research found the gaps in expectations and perceptions within the demanded quality elements. The positive gap scores indicating that perceptions exceeded expectations were found within 29 elements while the negative gap scores indicating that perceptions fell short of expectations were within 16 demanded qualities, which underlines that an extra effort on demanded qualities improvement is required. Meanwhile, according to the importance evaluation, five high on the priority list of demanded quality elements are reasonable charge, physician’s response to resident’s needs, foods standard, physician’s professional competence, and meals provided at appointment time. Finally, the importance evaluation of demanded qualities versus nursing home’s service quality dimensions presents that eight elements - physicians/staff professional competence, health care efficiency, manpower, continuing staff education/training, cost management, in-time health care service, crisis handling, foods conditions were valued more than 5% while two departments — medical staff and administrative departments were found being valued over 5% within the importance evaluation of nursing home’s service quality dimensions versus departments needed to be strengthened. This study is intended to address the residents’ needs within a nursing home through an exploratory analysis with an attempt to understand better the need and decision elements utilized by nursing home residents and their families, which serves as a tool to assist the nursing home to build and promote a program based on the findings and suggestions presented in this paper to improve the quality of long-term care service.

Base on the “Public building construction notes” by the Public Construction Commission, in the phase of design level about healthcare building. It points out some faults: bad communications, unclear survey, insufficient storage space, in house contamination and lack of considerations of heavy equipment moving path. They cause the delay in the design phase, unnecessary design changes and construction interfaces problems. To preventing all these faults from happening, this research use surveys, specialists’ interviews, and Informative collection; to establish the Healthcare construction program and check list to insure the quality function, and the integrity of customer’s needs from the beginning. To insure the information are passing through the process. Through the design is not the most costly and labor intensity stage in the construction. But, it has the most effective influence to the whole project. Thus, in the programming phase to execute Quality Function Deployment can insure the best design result, cut down budget, and reduce the design time frame. By through the Healthcare construction programming, this research is conducting a throughal process standard to promote the design quality, confirmation of each stage to make sure the result meet the custom’s requirements. And, cut down the cost and construction time.

Several years after the school reconstruction for the 921 earthquake, many schools now face the problem of inconvenience of usage. It has therefore become an important issue to probe into those unsatisfactory school constructions through the user aspect and propose strategies to improve the satisfaction with school construction. This study takes the school reconstruction after 921 earthquake as the object of research, establishing an approach to measure the satisfaction in both the dimensions of design and construction. The items extracted through this dimension model are applied with the approach of Fuzzy Quality Function Deployment (Fuzzy QFD) with matrix manipulations to convert the actual needs of users into techno-strategical steps of improvement realizable for the construction unit. Disregarding the constraints of budgets and resources, there are 16 items unsatisfactory for the users. With the application of FQFD, this study shall improve those unsatisfactory items to enhance the satisfactory with school constructions. The unsatisfactory items with school design include “Floor and wall materials of classrooms”, “Design of barrier-free environment” and “Water usage in classrooms”. With of school construction, the unsatisfactory items are “Future maintenance of the campus”, “Auxiliary teaching equipments” and “Firefighting equipments”. In the aspect of technical strategy improvement, a number of priority strategies for design improvements are listed in order according to what showed in the design and construction quality function deployments house: “Taking practicability into consideration”, “Planning the main points of design and the ways of maintenance in advance”, “Designing construction sites according to local terrains”, “Taking constructability into consideration when designing” and “Deploying material according to the environment”; for construction, the priority strategies are: “Providing the standard maintenance manual”, “Enhancing the supervision of construction”, “Constructing accurately according to the blueprint”, “Checking up the number and specifications of contract illustrations” and “Keeping to the material installation procedures”.

Quality function deployment (QFD) is a effective method to respond customers' requirement on product design. Nowadays, quality function deployment has been utilized in several fields, such as, production management, customer service, and new product design etc. However, the cost of techniques is not taken into account in the previous research. Hence, in order to meet customers' requirement, the cost may be over the expectation. A cost-effective quality function deployment is proposed in this study to satisfy customers with the minimum cost. Based on the concepts of quality function deployment and value stream analysis tools, the marginal cost-benefit is considered in this study, and improves the performance of quality function deployment effectively. Furthermore, cost-effective quality function deployment models with cost limit are also discussed in this study. The results shows that taking cost and marginal benefit into account can improve the performance of quality function deployment effectively

With the advance and innovation of technology, product life-cycles have progressively grown shorter. Therefore, firms need to quickly determine customer requirements during product development. Quality function deployment (QFD) is a product development process which maximizes customer satisfaction. The first phase of QFD, usually called house of quality (HOQ), translates the voice of customer (VoC) into engineering characteristics. The first step of HOQ is to identify customers’ needs and their relative ranking of those needs. Most of the existing literature uses point scales or linguistic variables to describe customer opinions, and transforms linguistic variables into fuzzy numbers. In addition to customer needs, firms also need to consider their competitors and their own limitations. In order to increase the accuracy of customers’ requirements, this research mainly uses intuitionistic fuzzy numbers to describe customer opinions, denoting uncertainty by membership, non-membership and information regarding hesitancy of intuitionistic fuzzy numbers. This research uses intuitionistic fuzzy numbers to deal with the uncertainty of customer requirements, and the proposed model consists of three steps: (1) using the group decision method to collect and aggregate experts’ linguistic opinions (2) implementing competitive analysis as well as converting the corresponding customer requirements into design requirements in order to assist firms in understanding the competitive market, avoiding the correlation among design requirements and getting more accurate design requirements (3)using multi-objective programming to determine the fulfillment level of each design requirement based upon resource limitations and technical difficulties .Finally, we use a practical example to demonstrate the rationality and superiority of the proposed model by comparing it to the method used in Chan and Wu(2005).

The government declares that all public agencies, except special service units, will implement a five-working-day program starting this year (2001). Therefore, people can have more leisure time to enjoy outdoor activities and all sorts of tourist attractions in their two-day weekends, including museums. However, these museums become crowded with visitors and their related facilities are not enough to cope with increase in visitors. This leads to a deterioration of their quality of service. Facing this situation, the National Palace Museum, famous for its rich collections and influential in the international community of museums, has to made efforts to make exhibitions more accessible to the general public and make its service quality consistent with international standards. This survey, focused on the National Palace Museum, adopts the approach of “Quality Function Deployment” to systematically research overall service operation in terms of quality and technical aspects. First, visitors to the Museum were interviewed. The framework of the survey is based on the PZB service quality model, interviews with experts, and written visitor opinions (from 1 July 2000 to 31 December 2000, a total of 3713 copies of written opinions). 414 copies of effective opinions (“invalid opinions” indicate the opinions which are not complete) have been singled out and analyzed in order to design the items of questionnaires. Moreover, a survey was conducted by using questionnaires to poll visitors in the Museum. The results of this survey were analyzed by the approach of factor analysis and accordingly established the evaluation model for service quality of the National Palace Museum in the following categories: “dependability and reliability”, “professionalism and education”, “ the surrounding environment” and “quality of exhibition halls”. Through these categories and by employing the approach of “Quality Function Deployment”, visitors’ demands on the service quality in the Museum will be transformed to requirements on technical aspects of quality. The final analysis reveals that the following ten items of service quality need to be improved: “service in the exhibition hall”, “on-the-job training and education”, “logistical management”, “evaluation of employees”, “management of volunteers”, “response to visitors’ opinions”, “providing service facilities in surrounding environment”, “security”, “management of human resources”, “publicizing and marketing of exhibitions”. This survey will provide reference to practice operation units employed to improve and manage their service quality.

There is no doubt we are among an era of aged society and ccompanied by higher level of education comes along higher expectations in quality standard of medical services. The Health Industry, even though traditionally leaned towards a one-way doctor-patient relationship, now inevitably faces vigorous competition. By adopting new perspectives from the service industry, health organizations have gradually developed a customer (patient)-oriented relationship when providing health services in order to promote customer satisfaction. Penghu is a rural island area and health care resources are generally poor and insufficient when compared to Taiwan mainland. The main issue that must be examined without any delays is how to reform the heath care standard of Penghu area, so the long lost trust factor of Penghu citizens can be regained. This study proposes the study subjects as patients who seek health care services at Penghu public regional hospitals. Different areas where the patients wished for more emphasis yet have been neglected and items of lower satisfaction are identified. With the application of Quality Function Deployment, QFD Model, the strategy on how to enhance rural health care service quality is formulated. Study results indicate the unsatisfactory areas where the rural island public would like more focus on are: “Not enough specialists”, “Insufficient doctors and staff”, and “Out dated medical equipment and facilities”. Analysis of QFD Model shows the top five concerns on the priority list of patients to health care services are: “Sufficient Doctors and staff”, “Adequate specialists”, “Auto-tracking system of patient recovery status”, “Modern medical equipment and facilities”, and “Waiting time”. The top five concerns on health administration are: “Sufficient Professionals”, “Customized health care services”, “Before and on-the-job educational training”, “Means to evaluate attitude of service personnel”, and “Usage of health information pamphlets”.

Software quality is the degree to which a customer or user perceives the software as meeting his or her composite expectations. To achieve reliable and high quality software, it is essential to prevent errors from occurring and to test the software sufficiently before the product is delivered. It is much cheaper for the developer to correct errors early in the life cycle. The aim must be to ensure work is done "right first time" at every stage of the software development process. Based on the cost of quality, this paper proposes a prevention-based management framework for IS development process. Quality planning with QFD helps us identify the right things to work on and measurements of those key areas for improvement. Based on the system planning which is integrated IS planning and quality planning, process management help us continually improve to ensure that we do the right things right.

Quality management is a responding activity when a company faces its customers'' requirements. From a product life cycle point of view, the design quality in a product research stage has a key inference on the product final quality robustness. However, a design quality is determined according to customer''s product quality requirements. These requirements should be inferred, interpreted and translated into some engineer requirements to achieve quality superiority. Usually, Quality Function Development (QFD) method is used to improve the requirement understanding, and the researcher communication in each research stage. However, customer (or technical) requirements are translated to some pre-defined values (the Wasserman method) that can not reflect the characteristic of linguistic variables. To solve such problem, this research proposes a RQDS model that combines both enhanced QFD method and the Taguchi Method to quantify the customer''s linguistic expression by assigning each linguistic requirement a fuzzy number. Firstly, we use a fuzzy analytic hierarchical process (FAHP) to decide the weight of customer requirements (WVOC) in HOQ. Secondly, some fuzzy contribution functions are applied to evaluate the weight of technical requirements (IVOE) in a fuzzy house of quality (FHOQ). Thirdly, we use a quality table to analyze the relative design parameters, and to experiment with Taguchi method of the weight of technical requirements. Finally, we select a new product manufacturing case to examine the efficiency of the proposed algorithm. In traditional QFD, the contributions of product technical improvement to customer requirements are represented by fixed values. However, these contributions are usually expressed by linguistic variables, which are nature of ambiguity and multiplicity of meaning. To solve this problem, this research uses a set of fuzzy functions to represent these contributions. The benefit of this is that it suits the practical application. In addition, we find that determining the weight of technical requirements not only the relationship matrix Cij between customer requirement and design requirement should be considered, but also the co-relationship matrix (Rjk) among VOEs must take into account. Comparing the weight of technical requirement (IVOE) obtained using the Wasserman method with the proposed FHOQ method, we find that the proposed method has smaller diversity of IVOE than that of Wasserman method.
