Abstract:
The need for deinking mills to reduce their fresh water consumption has resulted in higher loads of various contaminants in the process water. Lower recovered paper quality also leads to higher contamination levels in the mills. This higher load has an influence on achievable target brightness. The objective of the work was to determine and explain the main reasons for relatively poor deinked pulp quality or poor deinking potential based on the influence of recovered paper composition and process water quality. The process water parameters significantly affect the deinking potential of recovered paper. The test results showed the negative effects of increased water hardness. For standard recovered paper mixtures, flotation selectivity is higher with increasing flotation pH-value. Good results were realized for standard recovered paper with low hardness, low surface tension, and high pH-value. The results for recovered paper containing flexo newsprint could be slightly improved with low hardness, low surface tension, and low pH-value. The results of the test program using design of experiments showed interacting effects of pH-value and surface tension on luminosity and flotation selectivity.

Abstract:
The aim of the work was to study the process of hydrodearomatization and alkylation of gasoline fractions under increased hydrogen pressure. It has been used Rh-Pt (9:1)/Al2O3 catalyst in the work. It has been studied the hydrogenation of three gasoline fractions of «Atyrau Oil Refinery» LLP and Pavlodar Petrochemical Plant LLP. Technological parameters of the process of hydrodearomatization for the production of environmentally friendly fuels, containing no benzene and low in aromatic hydrocarbons have been worked out (pressure, temperature). Data on group composition of organic substances in gasolines demonstrate that after catalytic hydrogenation benzene in final samples of two fractions is absent. For hydrogenizate, the aromatic content decreased from 11.12 weight % to 2.20 weight %. For stable catalysate, the amount of aromatics decreased from 51.5 weight % to 10.96 weight %. Catalytic systems based on zeolites ZSM5 and Y modified with Mg, La, and Ce were tested during the alkylation of 2 gasoline fractions of Atyrau Oil Refinery LLP. It was established that benzene fractions was removed by 30–37% from gasoline and the content of aromatic hydrocarbons, toluene and cumene decreased by 6–10%.The catalysts were studied by BET, porometry and EM methods, which established a uniform formation of nanoscale particles on the catalyst surface.

The IGPC Engineering Department designed a basic technological project for an evaporation unit for detergent zeolite production at "Zeolite Mira", Mira, Italy. The evaporation unit was for a capacity of 15,000 t/h of evaporated water per hour from 26,000 t/h of 11 % NaOH solution. The gained product meets all quality regulation, as well as environmental regulations. The evaporation process is fully automatized, and the product has uniform quality. There is no waste material in detergent zeolite production, because all products with unsatisfactory quality are returned to the process. The production process can be controlled manually, which is necessary during start-up, and repairs. A fully closed cycle of filtrate was achieved by installing an evaporation unit. 11% NaOH solution is produced in detergent zeolite filtration, which is dangerous waste. It is evaporated to 26% NaOH solution and afterwards returned to the wet hydrate dissolution plant. In this way environmental protection is achieved, as well as a highly economical process.

Abstract:
Abstract Introduction Persons with hemophilia require complex medical care by a multi-disciplinary team throughout life. There are opportunities for Hemophilia Treatment Centers (HTC) to enhance the care of persons with hemophilia through participation in quality improvement (QI) initiatives. Maintaining comprehensive care and excellent health outcomes are national priorities for Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and the American Thrombosis and Hemostasis Network (ATHN), the National Hemophilia Program Coordinating Center (NHPCC). Rady Children's Hospital San Diego (RCHSD) HTC participated in the NHPCC Dartmouth Improvement Program pilot program with the aim to develop QI capabilities within the HTCs to enhance the care of persons with hemophilia. Methods RCHSD participated in the NHPCC Dartmouth Improvement Program starting in December 2015. A QI team was established including the HTC medical director, nurse case managers, pediatric social worker and the social worker of the collaborating adult HTC. The QI team was coached by an expert TDIMA coach and a "coach in training" from another HTC. The team learned QI methods through in person training, web-based training and weekly team meetings with the coaches. The team assessed HTC data (The 5Ps-purpose, patients, professionals, processes, and patterns) to gain system knowledge and insights to determine a QI theme, global aim, specific aims and associated PDSA cycles. Results The RCHSD HTC QI team established a QI theme to focus on the transfer from pediatric to adult care. The Global Aim of the team is to improve autonomous communication in RCHSD HTC. The process begins with the 12 year old comprehensive clinic visit and ends with a new patient visit at an adult HTC. By working on the process, we expect patients to have the communication skills to be able to arrange medical insurance, call the home care company to order factor and to communicate their health and personal care needs to adult health care providers. We developed four specific aims which are in various stages of testing in PDSA cycles (Table 1). For Aim 1, we found that patients have only basic knowledge of insurance information. For Aim 2, we found that we needed to adjust our clinic process to make sure that patients receive their "after visit summary" that includes the insurance information prior to leaving clinic. Conclusions We developed a QI program within RCHSD HTC focused on improving transfer of care. Once we have completed the specific aim PDSA cycles we will standardize the new and improved procedures. We will continue to develop the program based on internal needs assessment and family input. This training model may be adapted by other HTCs to enhance patient care. Abstract:
The increasing attention to magnesium alloys in extruded profiles, especially in the transportation industry, is related to their low density associated with good mechanical properties and complete recyclability. This allows to push towards both increasing efficiency and pollution restrictions. However, these advantages are negatively balanced by the production rates drop in relation to dangerous profile temperatures increasing that force to keep low velocities. In this context, a novel porthole die has been purposely designed for magnesium alloys allowing an increasing of the process velocity up to four times with respect to past solutions. The mandrel consisted of three ports made by 120° bridges that created an equal number of seam welds. The extruded tubes, made in ZM21, were 50 mm in diameter and 2 mm in thickness and were tested under different process conditions. In the present work, the quality of the seam welds has been investigated in relation to each process condition by means of the rubber plug testing method that allowed to applied an hydrostatic tensile state.

Abstract:
A digital image is not an exact snapshot of reality; it is only a discrete approximation. Thus, the captured images are always bit different from the images actually perceived by human eyes. These variations occur due to varying lighting conditions, weathers conditions like rain and fog, distance of scene from camera, image capturing angle, etc. The problem becomes more severe if these images are captured using low resolution image capturing devices like: Mobile phones, CCTV Cameras, Webcam, VGA cameras etc. Image enhancement addresses a solution of generating a high quality image from its low contrast version. Color enhancement is a process that differentiates objects in an image; as well as provides the detailed information of that image. This paper proposes color enhancement of low resolution digital images using clock algorithm. It is claimed that the proposed clock algorithm employed here produces good quality images in comparison with the existing color enhancement techniques. The simulation results proved that the proposed clock algorithm efficiently enhances the quality of digital low resolution images and analytically their quality improvement is observed in terms of peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR), mean square error (MSE) and bit error rate (BER) over the existing color enhancement techniques.

For the thermomechanical pulping (TMP) process both wood chip quality and the refining process have important effects on the resulting pulp and paper quality. Properties of wood raw material give a framework for final pulp properties. During TMP refining the specific energy consumption and refining intensity strongly impact fibre and pulp qualities. Increasing specific energy consumption benefits the development of fibres and improves their properties. However, high intensity refining tends to shorten the fibres and produces more fines content when compared with low intensity refining. This review focuses on the influence of key variables of chip qualities and the refining process on TMP pulp and paper qualities.

Abstract:
In this work many steps concerning the epitaxial layer growth on 4H-SiC are studied, evaluated and optimized to obtain high quality 4H-SiC epitaxy. The processes evaluated have been studied on a Hot Wall CVD reactor. The first step related to the substrate surface etching has been tuned by choosing the H2 flow, temperature and process time at which most of defects (mainly stacking faults) are not propagated. Then, the buffer layer step has been optimized by increasing the thickness at which an effective reduction of defect density and an improved electrical performance of power devices have been detected. Also, during the buffer layer growth a strong dependence between basal plane dislocations propagation and the growth rate has been observed. A crucial step carefully studied has been the drift layer growth. It was optimized by increasing the growth rate (13<GR<15µm/h) that results in a lower defectiveness, good thickness and doping uniformity. Final stage concerning the cooling of the process has been strongly revisited. A significant decreasing of the morphological defects (carrots, pits) and stacking faults has been observed by slowing the cool down process (~ 25 °C/min).

Abstract:
The purpose of this quality improvement project was to decrease the study population’s overall low-density lipoprotein by implementing multiple interventions targeted to increase the collection rate of yearly lipid profiles at a specific clinic. These interventions were performed in accordance with the American Diabetes Association’s practice recommendations for dyslipidemia, which include providing patients with lipid education, yearly screening, and medical management. The barriers to obtaining a fasting lipid panel at least every 12 months include patients’ missing appointments, patients’ rescheduling appointments, patients not fasting, or outside providers not responding to requests for lab results. Using interventions such as reviewing a patient’s chart, ordering or requesting a lipid panel, and calling a patient prior to the scheduled appointment, the number of days past 12 months decreased from 176.9 days to 68.37 days. This article describes the development of the quality improvement protocol, the intervention implementation, the project results, and finally, a discussion of findings.

Abstract:
The aim of the study was to determine the milking process quality through the temperature changes on teats. The measurements were conducted to evaluate the effect of partial vacuum 45 kPa and 40 kPa at the mammary gland. The measurements were done on a dairy farm at six Holstein breed dairy cows that were in the second stage of lactation. Temperature changes on teats were measured with thermal camera ThermoProTM TP8S IR during 2 days (morning milking and afternoon milking partial vacuum to 45 kPa, morning and afternoon milking with 40 kPa). The teats surface temperature was monitored before milking, after milking, 2 minutes after milking and 4 minutes after milking. The obtained results showed the increasing temperature during machine milking at both partial vacuums (45 kPa, 40 kPa). The highest temperature was reached immediately after milking. At the partial vacuum 45 kPa, the temperature increase was in morning and afternoon milking an average of +2.44 K. At partial vacuum 40 kPa the temperature increase was +1.93 K. Both temperature increases were statistically different (P > 0.05). The largest temperature decrease of teats was detected just two minutes after milking. Thermographic method used to assess the quality of milking process has proved to be useful because of the teat’s response to a machine milking process.

Abstract:
264 Background: Latent tuberculosis infection (LBTI) affects about one quarter of the world population. Treating LTBI is the most effective way of preventing active TB. Patients with hematologic malignancy (HM) and LTBI are at heightened risk (2-40 times baseline) of progressing to active TB. Universal TB screening is recommended for this population. In 2016, a patient receiving chemotherapy for myeloma at our center developed active TB. This triggered an intensive contact tracing investigation involving local public health units, infection control, and specialists. Over 800 patients had one or more exposures to the index case. No cases of secondary TB were identified; however, the contact tracing was resource intensive and stressful for patients and staff. This project aims to prevent future incidents by developing a standardized process for completing and documenting TBSTs, ensuring LTBIs are identified and managed prior to systemic therapy for HM. We aimed to complete and document TBSTs in ≥85% of patients starting systemic therapy for HM by Feb 2018. Methods: Baseline data was determined via retrospective review of 25 patients receiving chemotherapy for HM Jul-Nov 2017. An order set, work flow process map and standard operating procedure were created over a series of plan-do-study act cycles. TBST was added to a pre-existing “ready for treatment” checklist employed by pharmacists at our site. When pharmacists could find no record of a TBST result prior to treatment, the treating physician was notified. The go-live date was Aug 15, 2018. The impact of change was evaluated via chart review of patients who started chemotherapy for HM between Aug 27, 2018-Feb 27, 2019. Results: Prior to implementation of the standardized process, 3/25 patients (12%) had documentation of prior TBST. Following implementation of the standardized process, 14/30 patients (47%) had documentation of TBST prior to starting systemic therapy for HM. All 14 patients had negative TBSTs. Conclusions: Developing a standardized process for ordering, completing, and documenting TBST for patients starting systemic therapy for HM is feasible and effective. Additional revisions of the process are required to meet our target.

To prevent formation or suppress development of crystallization, shrink and liquating defects different methods of physical impact on setting melt are used. For technology selection in every case economy, efficiencyand ecological norms should be considered first of all. Methods of physical impact on crystallizable billet considered: electro-hydro impulse impact, gas-impulse stirring, modifier input, inoculator input, consumable coolers input, ultrasonic impact, “soft” reduction, electromagnetic stirring (EMS).Due to authors’ opinion, EMS of liquid portion of a CC billet is the most effective method ofactive impact on crystallization process of a CC billet directly during casting resulted in a guarantee possibility to control the process of structure formation. At present in world practice the EMS of liquid metal at CC machines became an integral part of advanced technology of high quality billets obtaining. The requirements increase to products qualityand development of effective methods and means of melts electromagnetic processing resulted in a requirement of obligatory EMS usage when producing products of high quality steels. It was shown, that for a number of CC bullet macrostructure defects, arising from crystallization process, shrinkage and liquating phenomena, which can not be eliminated completely even at optimal CC machinesdesign features and rational technology parameters of CC process, additional methods of physical impact on the liquid metal setting needed. The method to be used depends on the CC technology and existing CC machines equipment.

Abstract:
In recent years, business process modeling has increasingly drawn the attention of enterprises. As a result of the wide use of business processes, redundancy problems have arisen and researchers introduced the variability management, in order to enhance the business process reuse. The most approach used in this context is the Configurable Process Model solution, which consists in representing the variable and the fixed parts together in a unique model. Due to the increasing number of variants, the configurable models become complex and incomprehensible, and their quality is therefore impacted. Most of research work is limited to the syntactic quality of process variants. The approach presented in this paper aims at providing a novel method towards syntactic verification and semantic validation of configurable process models based on ontology languages. We define validation rules for assessing the quality of configurable process models. An example in the e-healthcare domain illustrates the main steps of our approach.

AbstractThe publication analyses the way of managing and improving the quality of the production process of aluminum pistons for internal combustion engines. The aim of the article is to propose a method of analysis of the effectiveness of individual control methods used in the process of controlling the aluminium piston. Thanks to the location of a control point with the highest share of product non-compliance detection in the production process, it is possible to reduce quality control points by less effective points, which will contribute to lower costs or shorten the time of production processes. In view of the increasing demands on the efficiency of the checkpoints for components in internal combustion engines, the issue is important and topical.

Abstract:
Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is one of the smartest technology evolutions in recent years. It is, a software installed on a system. RPA can be implemented in a well-defined environment with defined procedures and clarity with reference to decision making. RPA’s limitation is that it cannot be automated if it involves decision making supported by knowledgebased application. Highly invasive and intertwined supply chains are now confronted by producers, which reduce manufacturing life cycles and raise product sophistication. You therefore sense the need, at all stages of value formation, to change and adjust more rapidly. The theory of self-optimization is a positive method to coping with uncertainty and unexpected delays within supply chains, devices and processes. It would also boost manufacturing industries' stability and productivity. This paper explores the idea of development processes that are self-optimized. Following a quick historical analysis and understanding the particular needs, specifications and self-optimizing criteria of the various stages of value generation from supply chain planning and management to manufacture and assembly. Examples at both stages are used to demonstrate the self-optimization principle and to explain its simplicity and efficiency ability.. We proposed Novel approach for Robotic Process Automation with increasing productivity and improving product quality using machine learning

Objectives: Goal setting and motivational interviewing (MI) may increase well-being by promoting healthy behavior. Since we failed to show improved well-being in a proactive assessment service for community-dwelling older adults applying these techniques, we studied whether implementation processes could explain this. Methods: Goals set during the comprehensive geriatric assessment were evaluated on their potential for behavior change. MI and goal setting adherence wasassessed by reviewing audiotaped interactions and interviewing care professionals. Results: Among the 280 goals set with 230 frail older adults (mean age 77 ± 6.9 years, 59% women), more than 90% had a low potential for behavior change. Quality thresholds for MI were reached in only one of the 11 interactions. Application was hindered by the context and the limited proficiency of care professionals. Discussion: Implementation was suboptimal for goal setting and MI. This decreased the potential for improved well-being in the participating older adults.

process parameters; surface gloss; Rapid Heat Cycle Molding Abstract: Rapid Heat Cycle Molding is a novel injection molding, which may improve product surface quality effectively. In this paper, one-factor experimental design and Taguchi method were used and the influence of different process parameters (mold heating temperature, melt temperature, injection rate, injection pressure, and packing pressure) on surface gloss of injection product was studied. The results showed that temperature is the significant factor to the surface gloss. Mold heating temperature is principal factor in mold process parameters, while the melt temperature is the secondary factor and injection pressure is the least. The surface gloss increases with increasing mold heating temperature, melt temperature, injection rate through whole processing, while it increases to top then decreases with increasing injecting and packing pressure

Abstract:
The paper shows results of an experimental and theoretical study of dynamic processes in the vehicle transmission after kinematic alignment of elements during gearshifts. The purpose of the research is increasing the quality of transient processes in the vehicle transmission. Applying an analysis of experimental results obtained through looking into dynamics of a 3-ton vehicle transmission and studying literature sources it was established that dynamic loading of the transmission after the kinematic stage of shifting (i. e. synchronizing speeds of driving and driven elements in the gearbox) is influenced by oscillations which are in the single-node mode. Solving the task of increasing transient processes is achieved by applying a method of control power redistribution. By employing simulation models a number of methods were used to regulate power redistribution. Results of computations made it possible to determine that the efficiency of power redistribution are closely related to initial conditions of the process under the study. In the progress of the research a method for identifying the initial conditions was developed. This method is based determining signatures of the torque and its derivatives. In accordance with the research results it turned out that it is appropriate to apply the ZVD (zero vibration derivation) algorithm of power redistribution for low gears (below 4th) from point of view achieving better overshoot and robustness characteristics and a satisfactory response rate level. For higher gears it is recommended that the Ramp algorithm (linear increase in the control input) be used for the cases when the response rate is not longer than period of the single-node mode of oscillations occurring in the dynamic system during a gear shift. Application of the proposed algorithms allows to bring down dynamic loading of the transmission and also to improve the comfort in vehicles.

Abstract:
AbstractProcess management is an essential element of modern management models, at the enterprise level, but also at the supply chain level. However, the importance of process management is explicitly indicated by the process management maturity models, through analysis of the level of process orientation, or through analysis of the level of quality of process orientation components. Starting from the fact that competition in modern conditions often takes place between supply chains, process management maturity grows into supply chain management maturity. Some of the supply chain management maturity models are SCMAT model, S(CM)2 model and SCPM3 model. In this paper the framework of another supply chain management maturity is formulated, by upgrading the SCOR model with process orientation, or SCORBPO model. This model involves analysis of the presence of supply chain management best practice, on one hand, and the presence of process orientation components, on the other hand. The aim of the research was to identify the maturity of enterprises in Serbia in applying supply chain management best practice, as well as process orientation components that are potential sources of competitive advantage or constraints for enterprises and supply chains. Analysis of justification of hypotheses is done by using correlation and regression analysis. The general conclusion is that between the presence of best practices and process orientation components there is a positive correlation, and that most of the process orientation components affect the implementation of supply chain management best practices.

Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation is a modified form of cardiopulmonary bypass and a complex adult critical care therapy. No evidence appears to exist on sustaining relevant quality nursing standards during a pandemic. The aim for this quality improvement process was to address nursing provision in real time related to extracorporeal membrane oxygenation in a pandemic, providing fundamentals for future readiness. The Ishikawa fishbone diagram and a Plan-Do-Study-Act cycle were methods used. Process changes included implementation of a communication algorithm, an alternative nursing care model, increased nursing staffing and leadership visibility, use of perfusion services for nursing task support, and minimized nursing documentation. Changes applied were successful. We recommend increasing nursing staffing volume and support resources, applying a communication algorithm, and minimizing documentation requirements. These strategies are generalizable to other clinical nursing areas in similar pandemics or disasters.

Abstract:
Purpose Despite increased focus on the importance of the time principals spend on instructional leadership, there is little research on practical ways to help principals manage their time to achieve this goal. The purpose of this paper is to examine the implementation of the school administration manager (SAM) process: a unique program designed to help principals orient their time toward instructional activities. Design/methodology/approach This mixed-methods study combines data from multiple sources including: case studies of four districts that involved interviews with principals and program staff in 16 schools; interviews with network-level staff and administrators; a survey of 387 principals and 378 program staff; and time use data collected by shadowers as well as a time-tracking calendar system for 373 principals. Findings Principals and their teams implemented the SAM process with relatively high fidelity. In addition, most participated in the program to increase time spent on instructional tasks. Indeed, principals’ time use shifted from managerial to instructional tasks as they implemented the program. However, there were important challenges related to the time and personnel resources required to implement the program as well as questions about the quality of the instructional leadership time spent. Originality/value This study describes not only time allocation, but also a process through which principals intentionally sought to shift their time toward instructional leadership activities. The insights gained from the implementation and outcomes of this process provide concrete direction for policymakers, practitioners and researchers looking for ways to change the time principals spend on instructional leadership.

Abstract:
Film-growth process of hydrogenated amorphous silicon–oxygen alloys (a-SiO:H) from CO2/(CO2 + SiH4) plasma has been investigated to control the optoelectronic properties in the resulting materials. Optical emission spectroscopy results and simple simulation results for steady-state density of chemical species in the plasma indicate that main film-growth precursors for a-SiO:H are SiH3, OH, and O. Si dangling-bond defect density is drastically increased in a-SiO:H when increasing the CO2 gas ratio in CO2/(CO2 + SiH4) plasma, being caused by the increase in the contribution ratio of Si-related short-lifetime species (SiHx, x < 2) to film growth owing to a severe SiH4-molecule depletion because of high-rate consumption reaction of SiH4 with O produced from CO2 in the plasma. Considering the primary electron impact dissociation reactions of source gas molecules and several secondary chemical reactions in the plasma, the guiding principle for obtaining high quality a-SiO:H has been proposed.

Abstract:
The solidification process of aluminum alloys welded area has a major influence on the quality of the joining material. Based on this fact, the introduction of forced vibrations during welding aims to prevent the formation of increase tensions inside the welded structure and diminish the presence of pinholes or pores as a result of material contraction of alloys containing metals with a different melting point / solidification point. To avoid this happening it is essential to know and control how the melted material is evolving during the solidification. This step requires that the Al-Si alloy to be welded on a surface with longitudinal vibration composed of a platform whose support can be controlled depending on the required frequency and un M.I.G welding equipment with mechanized welding torch setup to weld, the test peace, above the platform surface. Welding in a mechanical forced vibration environment, results in the formation of a more uniform and finer grain size microstructure with a more advanced diffusion in the affected zone. The diffusion process occurs faster resulting in decreased structural tensions. The presence of voids and pores inside the material structure is inferior for the oscillating welding process in comparison with the classic solution.

Abstract:
The extrusion die is of great importance in the quality control of profile production. Yet in practice, the design of extrusion die is mainly dependent on the experience and intuition of die designers, which is difficult to guarantee product quality and productivity. In this paper, a numerical model was developed based on HyperXtrude with an attempt to investigate the effects of the shape of the welding chamber on metal flow and weld quality. The porthole dies with different steps of welding chamber were designed and applied to extrude an identical profile. Numerical results showed that with an increasing step of welding chamber, more uniform velocity and temperature distributions in the cross-section of the extrudate were observed. In addition, the weld quality was improved owing to increasing welding pressure, when adopting the multi-step welding chamber.

Abstract:
AbstractThe concept of quality has gained increasing importance over the last decades. Regarding the production process of a company, the quality control implementation allows companies to offer a higher quality product, which has positive influence on customer satisfaction. This paper aims to reflect the importance of statistical methods for quality control. Based on the two broad areas of statistical inference, parameter estimation and hypothesis testing, we demonstrate the usefulness of such methods in problem solving when the proportion of defective items is considered.
