Abstract:
This dissertation examines how people aggregate quantitative advices to reach their own estimates. Each chapter explores a different situation that could affect how advices are evaluated, and consequentially how advices will be combined. The first chapter demonstrates that people measure advices' extremity degrees by anhoring upon the advice set's median. It also shows that, unlike multiplicative scaling, additive scaling of advices affects how outliers are perceived. The second chapter deals with advices that are obtained serially. The results reveals that whether people execute the aggregati

Natural survivorship for the South African west coast rock lobster resource, Jasus lalandii, is estimated at two locations, Robben Island and Hout Bay. A size-based modelling approach is used, in which the model is fitted, to pristine catch size frequencies. The natural survivorship value for lobsters in the Robben Island region is estimated to be 0.94. The natural survivorship value for Hout Bay lobsters is estimated to be 0.87. The natural survivorship estimates are found to be very sensitive to rock lobster growth rate. The Robben Island estimate decreases from 0.968 for a decrease of 40% i

As the satellite observation system can provide a wide coverage of observation for severe systems, it is able to provide enough observations for rainfall study and application, especially in the open ocean areas. In previous studies on satellite rainfall retrieval, it is found that the microwave observation is quite limited in

Abstract:
It is widely appreciated that robust control and adaptive control focus on dealing with system uncertainty but emphasize different aspects. Adaptive control is efficient in eliminating structured uncertainty but has difficulty handling unstructured uncertainty. On the other hand, robust control guarantees the stability for the worst case but ends up with a very conservative design. This thesis will be mainly concerned with the development of a frequency domain quantitative adaptive robust control strategy, which can be viewed as a good combination of adaptive control and robust control t

碩士
國立臺灣大學
數學研究所
100
In this article we consider the local behavior of a non-trivial solution for the time-harmonic Maxwell system with anisotropic media. The main result of this article is the bound on the vanishing order of the solution of the Maxwell system, which is a quantitative estimate of the strong unique continuation property (SUCP). And the most important tool is Carleman estimates. Our strategy in the proof is to derive doubling inequality through three-balls inequality.

Abstract:
Pollen spectra found in sediments enable the research of quantitative changes in vegetation composition in the past. The fact is conditioned upon assumption of unchangeable linear relationship between abundance of pollen and the vegetation that is responsible for its production. Calibration of this relationship is experimentally performed on modern pollen samples and current vegetation. Relative pollen produktivity etimates (PPEs) represents basic parameters for the conversion of proportional pollen data into the vegetational ones. Their knowledge is indispensible for the quantitative vegetati

Abstract:

Abstract:
Efciency-driven reforms have become increasingly relevant in education policy, as education systems face tighter budget constraints. Educational authorities around the world often struggle to foster the best student outcomes out of the set of available school resources. This dissertation aims to contribute to this debate by using a semi-parametric approach to evaluate the efciency across 34 OECD countries, using data from PISA 2015. The estimation of the education production possibilities frontier is made through a free disposal hull (FDH) method, a non-convex and non-parametric estimator, al
