Abstract As a usage-based approach to the study language, cognitive linguistics is theoretically well poised to apply quantitative methods to the analysis of corpus and experimental data. In this article, I review the historical circumstances that led to the quantitative turn in cognitive linguistics and give an overview of statistical models used by cognitive linguists, including chi-square test, Fisher test, Binomial test, t-test, ANOVA, correlation, regression, classification and regression trees, naïve discriminative learning, cluster analysis, multi-dimensional scaling, and correspondence

In the article one of the approaches to teaching quantitative linguistics course is described. In spite of the fact that the course is relatively new there are already some traditions in its teaching. Usually the usage of a number of mathematical methods and methods of mathematical statistics is accented. Students studying quantitative linguistics according to these programs are required to have a deep understanding in the corresponding subject areas. From the beginning of the 2000s text processing computer programs have been actively developed, there are examples of using these programs in st

Abstract:
This paper draws attention to the complexity of problems arising in statistical linguistics when it must compare various corpora. Those problems are discussed from the point of view of distributional statistical analysis of texts; that is, a set of formal procedures with a minimum of preconceived linguistic knowledge. The terminological distinction between contrastive and comparable corpora is introduced.

Ηirbet-Qumran lies about 15km south of Jericho. Between 1947 and 1956 eleven caves were discovered that contained thousands of fragments, mainly of prepared animal skin, representing approximately 900 texts many of which are considered copies. Over 100 of these texts are in Aramaic, though many are short fragments. The provenance of these texts is uncertain, but the fact that copies of some of them are known from beyond Qumran indicates that not all the Aramaic texts found at Qumran are likely to have originated there, though Qumran may have been a site where they were copied. The aim of this study is to conduct an objective investigation into the provenance of De Doctrina Christiana, a theological treatise attributed to Milton since its discovery in 1823. This attribution was questioned in 1991 provoking a series of papers, one of which makes a plea for an objective analysis, which I aim to supply. I begin by reviewing critically some techniques that have recently been applied to stylometry. They include methods from artificial intelligence, linguistics and statistics. The chapter concludes with an investigation into the QSUM technique, finding it to be invalid. As

Linguistic statistics, introduced into linguistics as a method of quantitative analysis, makes it possible tostudy language phenomena in empirical transparency. Lingvostatistika makes it easy to count language units, sort them and analyze them based on a certain system. It is especially important in determining the level of use of phonetic, lexical and grammatical units in oral and written forms of speech. To use this method, it is appropriate to study the essence, history, results and principles of linguostatistics in Uzbek and world linguistics.
