Based on modern quantum physics, an original approach is proposed to the principle of mod- eling the transmission of electrical energy to industrial and equated consumers with a design power of up to 1000 kVA, which is performed using transformers of the ТМ-6(10)/0,4 kV type, provided that their secondary voltage is a potential form of SES electromagnetic energy supplied to such consumers. At the same time, thenormal mode of the maximum load of the transformer is considered when its active and reactive loads are equal, at which the reactive load factor of the consumer's power supply system has the highest permissible value (the phase angle of the sinusoidal voltage current is zero). A static vector-quantum model of a trans- former power transmission has been developed, which simplifies the understanding of the process of com- pensating for the reactive load of a transformer and makes it possible to refine the operating power of a ca- pacitor bank with 0.4 kV capacitors. At the same time, the idea is confirmed that the value of the reactive load factor of a transformer is not only the main criterion for the electromagnetic compatibility of the SES of a particular electricity consumer, but also a criterion for its economic efficiency. Using the numerical value of such a coefficient, it is possible to determine the value of the economic equivalent of the reactive load of a particular SES. At the same time, such a coefficient should be normalized to each specific consumer at the point of division of the balance sheet belonging to the electrical network of such a consumer.

Abstract:
Purpose This paper aims to offer insights into the impact of digitization technology on consumer goods manufacturers and retail organizations. The authors propose that the “next phase” of digitization will entail the employment of digitization technology to offer consumers personalized product offerings and recommendations based on their internal biomarkers. Design/methodology/approach The authors draw on past investigations into digitization and their retailing experience to speculate on how the next phase of digitization will affect both consumer goods manufacturers and retailers. Findings The next phase of digitization will entail the use of nutrigenomics (DNA sequencing), exhaled breath analysis, fitness tracker devices, sensory patches, radio frequency identification tags and quantum ID tags to create customized and recommend products, and support product-to-customer communication regarding authenticity. Research limitations/implications Consumers will increasingly rely on technology to inform them of their bodily needs and to receive personalized solutions to help satisfy those needs. Consumer behavior theories must be reconsidered because consumers will become more passive participants in retail consumption as they rely on technology for need-recognition and product-fulfillment. Social implications Digitization technologies that use consumers’ biomarkers for new product creation or product recommendation raise new risks and uncertainty. For example, the legal implications of an incorrect product recommendation based on customer biomarkers are unknown. Furthermore, retailers would need to maintain data privacy of biomarker data and be responsible for data breaches. Originality/value The research explores how digitization will affect consumers’ in-store experiences with consumer goods products.

Abstract:
The probability theory using fuzzy random variables has applications in several scientific disciplines. These are mainly technical in scope, such as in the automotive industry and in consumer electronics, for example, in washing machines, televisions, and microwaves. The theory is gradually entering the domain of finance where people work with incomplete data. We often find that events in the financial markets cannot be described precisely, and this is where we can use fuzzy random variables. By proving the validity of the theorem on extreme values of fuzzy quantum space in our article, we see possible applications for estimating financial risks with incomplete data.

In the context of today ’s pattern of globalization and a huge amount of information, a smart supply management chain is required. Naturally, statistics and operations research are used for optimizing supply and demand objectives. However, the new context brings out new opportunities at descriptive, predictive and prescriptive levels for supply chain network design, logistics and distribution and strategic sourcing. The key question is still how to capture and to use information. One striking example can be taken from social media, where their use allow to gain insight into the perception of consumers and to capture a real time overview of consumer reactions, regarding one or more specific events. In this regard, different modern approaches, such as IoT or Quantum neural network, are developed. In the same line of thought, we propose an analytic approach, based on KNN, Logistic Regression and SVM with the use of Twitter data in chicken supply chain management. Results identify the main concerns related to chicken products and allow to the development of a consumer-centric supply chain. The proposed approach can be extended to other topics such as anomaly detection and codification of customer intelligence.

Because of their unique physical, optical, and mechanical properties, nanomaterials hold great promise in improving on a wide variety of current technologies. Consequently, their use in research and consumer products is increasing rapidly, and contamination of the environment with various nanomaterials seems inevitable. Because surface waters receive pollutants and contaminants from many sources including nanoparticles and act as reservoirs and conduits for many environmental contaminants, understanding the potential impacts of nanoparticles on the organisms within these environments is critical to evaluating their potential toxicity. While there is much to be learned about interactions between nanomaterials and aquatic systems, there have been a number of recent reports of interactions of quantum dots (QDs) with aquatic environments and aquatic organisms. This review is focused on providing a summary of recent work investigating the impacts of quantum dots on aquatic organisms.

Abstract:
Background. People use the Internet for communication, work, online banking and more. Public-key cryptography enables this use to be secure by providing confidentiality and trust online. Though these algorithms may be secure from attacks from classical computers, future quantum computers may break them using Shor’s algorithm. Post-quantum algorithms are therefore being developed to mitigate this issue. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has started a standardization process for these algorithms. Objectives. In this work, we analyze what specialized features applicable for post-quantum algorithms are available in the mainframe architecture IBM Z. Furthermore, we study the performance of these algorithms on various hardware in order to understand what techniques may increase their performance. Methods. We apply a literature study to identify the performance characteristics of post-quantum algorithms as well as what features of IBM Z may accommodate and accelerate these. We further apply an experimental study to analyze the practical performance of the two prominent finalists NTRU and Classic McEliece on consumer, cloud and mainframe hardware. Results. IBM Z was found to be able to accelerate several key symmetric primitives such as SHA-3 and AES via the Central Processor Assist for Cryptographic Functions (CPACF). Though the available Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) did not support any of the studied algorithms, they were found to be able to accelerate them via a Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). Based on our experimental study, we found that computers with support for the Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) were able to significantly accelerate the execution of post-quantum algorithms. Lastly, we identified that vector extensions, Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) and FPGAs are key techniques for accelerating these algorithms. Conclusions. When considering the readiness of hardware for the transition to post-quantum algorithms, we find that the proposed algorithms do not perform nearly as well as classical algorithms. Though the algorithms are likely to improve until the post-quantum transition occurs, improved hardware support via faster vector instructions, increased cache sizes and the addition of polynomial instructions may significantly help reduce the impact of the transition.
Bakgrund. Människor använder internet för bland annat kommunikation, arbete och bankärenden. Asymmetrisk kryptering möjliggör att detta sker säkert genom att erbjuda sekretess och tillit online. Även om dessa algoritmer förväntas vara säkra från attacker med klassiska datorer, riskerar framtida kvantdatorer att knäcka dem med Shors algoritm. Därför utvecklas kvantsäkra krypton för att mitigera detta problem. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) har påbörjat en standardiseringsprocess för dessa algoritmer. Syfte. I detta arbete analyserar vi vilka specialiserade funktioner för kvantsäkra algoritmer som finns i stordator-arkitekturen IBM Z. Vidare studerar vi prestandan av dessa algoritmer på olika hårdvara för att förstå vilka tekniker som kan öka deras prestanda. Metod. Vi utför en litteraturstudie för att identifiera vad som är karaktäristiskt för kvantsäkra algoritmers prestanda samt vilka funktioner i IBM Z som kan möta och accelerera dessa. Vidare applicerar vi en experimentell studie för att analysera den praktiska prestandan av de två framträdande finalisterna NTRU och Classic McEliece på konsument-, moln- och stordatormiljöer. Resultat. Vi fann att IBM Z kunde accelerera flera centrala symmetriska primitiver så som SHA-3 och AES via en hjälpprocessor för kryptografiska funktioner (CPACF). Även om befintliga hårdvarusäkerhetsmoduler inte stödde några av de undersökta algoritmerna, fann vi att de kan accelerera dem via en på-plats-programmerbar grind-matris (FPGA). Baserat på vår experimentella studie, fann vi att datorer med stöd för avancerade vektorfunktioner (AVX) möjlggjorde en signifikant acceleration av kvantsäkra algoritmer. Slutligen identifierade vi att vektorfunktioner, applikationsspecifika integrerade kretsar (ASICs) och FPGAs är centrala tekniker som kan nyttjas för att accelerera dessa algortmer. Slutsatser. Gällande beredskapen hos hårdvara för en övergång till kvantsäkra krypton, finner vi att de föreslagna algoritmerna inte presterar närmelsevis lika bra som klassiska algoritmer. Trots att det är sannolikt att de kvantsäkra kryptona fortsatt förbättras innan övergången sker, kan förbättrat hårdvarustöd för snabbare vektorfunktioner, ökade cachestorlekar och tillägget av polynomoperationer signifikant bidra till att minska påverkan av övergången till kvantsäkra krypton.

Abstract:
A Quantum Key Distribution system has been demonstrated with a focus on applicability of the technology to a consumer use model. The optical devices were split into a large, expensive "Quantum ATM" (the Bob terminal) and a small, cheap handheld section (the Alice device). Work was initially done to integrate the devices into a realistic demonstration system which was exhibited at several international conferences. Following this success, the devices constituent parts were isolated and improved upon. Work on the Alice device focused upon proposing a new scheme for light collimation and then investigating a method to enact this. In the Bob device the progress was directed towards a more effective single photon detection system utilizing active quenching. An asymptotic secure key rate of 20kb/s was obtained at a bit error rate (BER) of 4% corresponding to a daylight operation scenario. A docking scheme was enacted to simplify the alignment of the optical channel which was shown to be repeatable over at least 50 cycles. The system was also shown to be stable over an extended period of time.

Em um mercado altamente competitivo, como o automobilístico, as empresas dependem de competir com seus concorrentes nas mesmas condições para manterem-se no mercado. Obter incentivos fiscais é uma questão de sobrevivência, pois para manter os preços dos seus produtos competitivos, é obrigatório obter o mesmo nível de incentivos dos concorrentes. Para a obtenção de incentivos, uns dos requisitos considerados pelas legislações é a eficiência energética e consumo de combustível. Dentre as tecnologias a serem empregadas nos veículos com o objetivo de reduzir o consumo de combustível estão as tecnologias ditas como fora de ciclo. Estas quando avaliadas somente com os ciclos padrões de rodagem atualmente utilizados, não apresentam ganhos compatíveis com os verificados em rodagens realizadas por clientes. Para demonstrar o potencial destas tecnologias, foram realizados estudos sobre os trajetos mensurados pela Companhia de Engenharia de Tráfego de São Paulo em termos de volumes, velocidades e altimetria, e foram elencadas rotas que representassem condições de tráfego no município de São Paulo, comuns a grandes cidades brasileiras. Após a escolha das rotas a serem estudadas, foram realizadas rodagens com veículo instrumentado e registradas as informações de consumo de combustível, velocidades, acelerações, regimes do motor entre outras, com e sem a aplicação da tecnologia fora de ciclo. Neste estudo foi utilizada a tecnologia Coasting. Para analisar as variações de consumo de combustível observadas de modo a extrair delas o efeito da tecnologia Coasting, foram utilizadas duas abordagens: comparação dos resultados do consumo total nos trajetos completos como função da velocidade média; e análise do consumo instantâneo em trechos específicos de uma mesma rota com acionamento ou não da tecnologia. Os resultados são comparados com aqueles obtidos em programas de quantificação desenvolvidos na Europa.
In a highly competitive market like the automotive, companies depend on competing with their competitors in the same conditions to stay in the market. Getting tax incentives is a matter of survival because to keep the prices of your products competitive, it is mandatory to get the same level of incentives from competitors. To obtain incentives, one of the requirements considered by the legislations is energy efficiency and fuel consumption. Among the technologies to be used in vehicles with the aim of reducing fuel consumption are the so-called off-cycle technologies. When evaluated only with the standard running cycles currently in use, the obtained values are not compatible with those recorded at customer-driven runs. To demonstrate the potential of these technologies, studies were carried out on routes measured by the Traffic Engineering Company of São Paulo in terms of volumes, speeds and altimetry, and some routes were identified that represent traffic conditions in São Paulo municipality and that are common in large Brazilian cities. After the election of the routes to be studied, vehicleinstrumented taxiing was carried out and information on fuel consumption, speeds, accelerations, engine regimes and others were recorded, with and without the application of off-cycle technology. In the studies, Coasting technology was the one applied. To analyze the observed fuel consumption variations, in order to extract the effect of Coasting technology, two approaches were utilized: comparison of total fuel consumption in the chosen routes as a function of average speed; and analysis of instantaneous fuel consumption on specific stretches of the same route, switching-on and off the technology. The results are compared with the ones obtained from quantification programs developed in Europe.

Abstract:
The volume of data input to data mining applications has grown considerably as an indirect consequence of the price reductions for data aquisition, transmission and storage. Thus, data mining applications must be scalable, that is, the losses in performance should be small when the size of the input is increased. Frequent itemset mining is a popular data mining application for which there are several algorithms and implementations. EClaT is among the most successful and wellknown algorithms. Its most memory consuming abstract data type is the natural number set. In this work, we replaced the implementation for this abstract data type for another, commonly employed by information retrieval algorithms but never before employed by data mining algorithms, that saves memory. We adapted to the new context and/or implemented other memory saving techniques as well. We achived an economy in maximum memory consumption of up to an order of magnitude compared to the original implementation.
A quantidade de dados submetida às aplicações de mineração de dados tem crescido consideravelmente como conseqüência indireta das reduções dos custos de coleta, transmissão e armazenamento de dados. Portanto, as aplicações de mineração de dados devem ser escaláveis, isto é, as perdas em desempenho devem ser pequenas com o aumento do tamanho da entrada. A mineração de conjuntos freqüentes é uma aplicação popular de mineração de dados para a qual há diversos algoritmos e implementações. O EClaT está entre os algoritmos mais bem-sucedidos e conhecidos. Seu tipo abstrato de dados que mais consome memória é o conjunto de números naturais. Nesse trabalho, substituímos a implementação desse tipo abstrato de dados por outra, comumente empregada por algoritmos de recuperação de informação mas nunca antes empregada por algoritmos de mineração de dados, que economiza memória. Também adaptamos para o novo contexto e/ou implementamos outras estratégias de economia de memória. Obtivemos economia do consumo máximo de memória de até uma ordem de magnitude em relação à implementação original.

The Materials Consumption Management on building sites is an important tool for improving the performance of companies. Although the companies recognize this potential, few of them are managing in a systematic method and therefore do not enjoy fully the benefits from it. This work aims to achieve a diagnosis regarding the Materials Consumption Management on construction sites, with the carry out of a questionnaire survey based on the main requirements considered relevant in a Consumption Management System. This questionnaire was executed to a sample of 14 construction companies engaged mainly in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, of different size and with or without Quality Management System. As a result, most of the construction companies do not meet fully the requirements of a Materials Consumption Management System on construction sites, because there is not a systematic collection of indicators of losses / consumption of materials on building sites or no establishment of the goals of consumption / losses of materials based on a single database of the company or there is not the dissemination of information obtained under the building site to the other departments of the company or partners involved in the process of implementing the works. According to this diagnosis, 50% of the participating companies in the research do not have Materials Consumption Management System, 7.1% are incipient, 35.7% have a Semi-Structured System and only 7.1% of these construction companies (1 company) has a Structured Management System. Although this topic is relevant today, there is much to improve to implement, in fact, a Full Consumption System.
A gestão do consumo de materiais nos canteiros de obras constitui um instrumento importante para a melhoria do desempenho das empresas construtoras. Embora reconheçam este potencial, poucas empresas praticam esta gestão de forma sistematizada e, portanto, não usufruem plenamente dos benefícios oriundos desta. Este trabalho tem como objetivo realizar um diagnóstico quanto à gestão do consumo de materiais nos canteiros de obras através da aplicação de um questionário estruturado abordando os principais requisitos considerados relevantes em um Sistema de Gestão. Para tanto, este questionário foi aplicado a uma amostra de 14 empresas atuantes predominantemente na região metropolitana de Belo Horizonte, de porte diferenciado e com ou sem Sistema de Gestão da Qualidade. Como resultado, destaca-se a constatação de que a maioria das empresas construtoras não atende plenamente aos requisitos de um Sistema de Gestão do Consumo de Materiais nos Canteiros de Obras, seja por não haver uma coleta sistemática dos indicadores de perdas/consumo de materiais nos canteiros de obras, seja por não haver o estabelecimento de metas de consumo/perdas de materiais com base em um banco de dados único da empresa, seja pela não disseminação dos conhecimentos obtidos no âmbito do canteiro de obras aos outros departamentos da empresa ou parceiros intervenientes do processo de execução das obras. De acordo com o diagnóstico realizado, 50% das empresas participantes da pesquisa não possuem Sistema de Gestão do Consumo de Materiais, 7,1% o apresenta ainda de forma incipiente, 35,7% possuem um Sistema Semi-Estruturado e apenas 7,1% das empresas (1 empresa) possui um Sistema de Gestão Estruturado, indicando que, embora o tema seja relevante nos dias atuais, ainda há muito que se melhorar no sentido de implementar, de fato, um Sistema de Gestão de Consumo pleno.

A fartura da oferta de água no planeta atravessa condições naturais desfavoráveis e as agressões ao meio ambiente produzem mudanças climáticas que afetam o abastecimento da água tratada. O objetivo principal deste trabalho foi desenvolver métodos de conscientização adequados para a população em foco e subsidiar sua validação dentro dos campi para futuro alcance de toda a população da Instituição. Para atingir o objetivo, pretendeu-se desenvolver o acompanhamento presencial e sistemático do uso da água dentro do Campus escolhido. O objeto de estudo foi, em um período de tempo pré-definido, o acompanhamento do uso da água tratada dentro dos ambientes de uma Instituição Federal de Ensino, através de análise perceptiva e comportamental de uma amostra da população. Utilizou-se dos mecanismos de coleta de opiniões, aplicação de questionários, observação assistida e entrevistas. Seguidamente, utilizou-se do desenvolvimento de métodos de conscientização visando à importância do uso racional da água e da redução do consumo, o que proporcionou uma reavaliação do consumo. Dados primários, oriundos das medições e da tarifação do consumo de água da instituição, também foram considerados no desenvolvimento do trabalho. Como resultado final, a eficácia dos métodos de conscientização utilizados pôde ser avaliada através da comparação dos valores de água consumidos antes e depois da aplicação do método. O modelo de aprendizagem e o conhecimento desenvolvido, com a aplicação desta metodologia, podem se tornar alicerces de sustentação e multiplicadores do uso economizador da água em suas diversificadas aplicações para as atividades humanas, quer no universo profissional como particular. Os resultados indicaram uma redução do consumo de água na Instituição Federal de Ensino estudada, na ordem de 11%, a partir de incentivos visuais, de divulgação de conhecimentos e de conscientização a favor de sua conservação e uso racional. O modelo apresentado permite aplicações práticas em futuras dissertações.

Resumo: O propósito do presente estudo foi verificar o efeito de diferentes informações sobre o tempo de teste a se realizar sobre variáveis fisiológicas específicas. Participaram da amostra 10 ciclistas homens (1,76 ± 0,04 metros, 78,48 ± 10,40 kg e 32,5 ± 6,02 anos), submetidos a teste incremental (início de 100W e acréscimo de 20W.min-1) para determinação da potencia pico (PP) (369,84 ± 37,77 W) e consumo máximo de oxigênio (VO2máx) (51,90 ± 10,37 ml/kg/min). Além disso, realizaram outros quatro protocolos intermitentes (4 min a 50% da PP intervalados por 1 min a 100% da PP), em dias distintos, separados por no mínimo 48 horas. O primeiro protocolo (P1) teve duração 40 minutos, durante o qual os voluntários foram informados sobre o tempo e distância percorridos apenas ao final do mesmo, ou seja, realizaram a tarefa sem nenhum conhecimento sobre ela. O segundo protocolo (P2) teve as mesmas características que P1, porém os voluntários já o conheciam e puderam acompanhar todas as informações coletadas durante o protocolo. No terceiro protocolo (P3) os voluntários foram informados que deveriam fazer o mesmo que em P1 e P2, todavia o protocolo foi encerrado ao vigésimo minuto sem nenhum aviso prévio. No quarto protocolo (P4) repetiram os 20 minutos de esforços intervalados, recebendo as informações corretas sobre a duração do teste e foram fortemente avisados que a duração do protocolo não seria alterada. Todos os testes foram realizados em ciclossimulador. A atividade eletromiográfica (EMG) dos músculos Reto Femoral (RF) e Vasto Lateral (VL) e o consumo de oxigênio (VO2) foram coletados durante todos os protocolos intermitentes. O nível de significância adotado foi de 5% (p=0,05). Os resultados demonstraram que a EMG (root mean square - RMS) do RF foi menor em P1 quando comparado: a P3 nos minutos 9, 10, 14, 15, 19 e 20; a P4 nos minutos 9, 14, 19 e 20; e em relação ao tempo. A freqüência mediana (FM) desse músculo não apresentou nenhuma diferença entre protocolos nem em relação ao tempo. O VL apresentou RMS maior em P1 comparado a P2 apenas no minuto 40. Em contrapartida a FM do VL em P2 foi maior que os outros protocolos (P1, P3 e P4) no minuto 5, no minuto 10 (P1 e P3), no minuto 15 (P3), e ainda mostrou aumento em relação ao tempo em P1 e P4. O VO2 foi significantemente maior em P4 quando comparado: a P2 nos minutos 5, 10 e 20; a P1 nos minutos 10 e 20. Adicionalmente P3 foi maior que P2 no minuto 20, e em todos os protocolos houve aumento significante em relação ao tempo. A partir dos resultados é possível concluir que as informações recebidas pelos voluntários interferem na EMG e no VO2 de forma diferente com a variação da carga.
Abstract: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of different information about the time of the test to be helded on specific physiological variables. Ten men cyclists (1.76 ± 0.04 m, 78.48 ± 10.40 kg and 32.5 ± 6.02 years old)was submitted to a incremental test (beginning of 100W and increased 20W.min - 1) to determine the peak power (PP) (369.84 ± 37.77 W) and maximum oxygen uptake (VO2max) (51.90 ± 10.37 ml / kg / min). Moreover, there were four other protocols intermittent (4 min at 50% of the PP intervals for 1 min to 100% of PP), on different days, separated by at least 48 hours. The first protocol (P1) lasted 40 minutes, during which the volunteers were informed about the time and distance traveled only at the end of it, ie, performed the task without any knowledge about it. The second protocol (P2) had the same characteristics as P1, but the volunteers had the knowledge and could check all the information collected during the protocol. In the third protocol (P3) the volunteers were informed that should do the same in P1 and P2, but the protocol was closed for twenty minutes without any notice. In the fourth protocol (P4) the repeated efforts of 20 minutes intervals, getting the correct information on the duration of the test and were strongly advised that the duration of the protocol would not be changed. All tests were performed in cyclosimulator. The electromyographic activity (EMG) of the muscle Rectus Femoral (RF) and Vastus Lateralis (VL) and oxygen consumption (VO2) were collected during all protocols intermittent. The significance level was 5% (p = 0.05). The results showed that the EMG (root mean square - RMS) of RF was lower in Q1 compared: the P3 in the minutes 9, 10, 14, 15, 19 and 20, and P4 in 9 minutes, 14, 19 and 20; and increase over the time. The median frequency (MF) of the muscle showed no differences between any protocols even in relation with the time. The VL had higher RMS in P1 compared to P2 in just 40 minutes. In contrast to the VL in FM P2 was higher than the other protocols (P1, P3 and P4) at the minute 5, minute 10 (P1 and P3), at the minute 15 (P3), and showed an increase in the time in P1 and P4. The VO2 was significantly higher when compared to P4: P2 in the minutes 5, 10 and 20, the P1 in minutes 10 and 20. Additionally P2 to P3 was higher at the minute 20, and in all protocols there was a significant increased in relation to time. From the results we conclude that the information received by volunteers has an influence at the EMG and VO2 in different ways with the change in the load.

A presente tese de Doutorado em Antropologia Social parte da constatação de que o sabor doce é muito importante para os seres humanos. Aliás, ao contrário do que afirma a bibliografia, a produção e o consumo de doces são muito difundidos inclusive entre os grupos indígenas. Desta forma, tem-se como objetivo uma análise antropológica da produção e consumo de alimentos entre os Mbyá-Guarani – grupo indígena brasileiro – enfatizando os seus sabores doces e os sentidos a eles atribuídos. A partir dos dados obtidos junto aos Mbyá-Guarani é possível repensar a contribuição dos grupos indígenas na formação da culinária e, mais especificamente, o papel destes grupos na cultura doceira brasileira.
This thesis of Doctorate in Social Anthropology starts from the fact that the sweet flavor is very important to human being. Moreover, contrary to what the literature says, the production and consumption of sweets is very widespread even among indigenous group. Thus, it has at objective an anthropological analysis of food’s productions and consumption among the Mbyá-Guarani – Brazilian indigenous group - emphasizing the sweet flavor and the meaning give to them. From the data obtained from the Mbyá-Guarani is possible rethink the contribution of indigenous group in the formation of the cuisine and, more specifically, the role of this group in the Brazilian culture of make sweets.

O consumo de aditivos alimentares está associado a comportamentos e estilos de vida adotados pela sociedade moderna. Diversos estudos têm comprovado algumas reações adversas aos aditivos, notadamente corantes artificiais, como alergias, alterações neurocomportamentais, e carcinogenicidade. Crianças são particularmente vulneráveis,em razão de: a quantidade ingerida ser, em relação ao peso corporal, maior na criança do que no adulto; essas substâncias serem metabolizadas e excretadas de forma ineficazdevido á imaturidade fisiológica da criança; e o fato de crianças não apresentarem capacidade de autocontrole no consumo de alimentos ricos em aditivos. O presenteestudo analisa a percepção de riscos de mães de pré-escolares do município deMesquita, RJ, em relação ao consumo infantil de corantes. Caracteriza-se como estudo quanti-qualitativo, de triangulação metodológica que incluiu: identificação de perigos associados ao consumo de aditivos alimentares, através de revisão sistemática daliteratura; caracterização do consumo de aditivos alimentares pelos pré-escolares, por meio de questionário de freqüência alimentar; e análise da percepção de riscos, através de entrevistas semi-estruturadas baseada na teoria cultural da percepção de riscos. Resultados mostraram um consumo elevado de alimentos com corantes por préescolares. Tal fato apresentou relação com a baixa percepção de riscos, por parte dasmães, quanto aos efeitos nocivos desses aditivos sobre a saúde de seus filhos.
Uma das explicação dessa baixa percepção está no fato que grande parte das mães não lê os rótulos dos produtos alimentícios e, quando o fazem, não compreendem as informações ali contidas. Ressalta-se, com base nos resultados do estudo, a importância de se gerar políticas públicas que garantam uma alimentação de qualidade. Trata-se de uma questão de cidadania o acesso a informações sobre o produto, bem como sobre os efeitos adversos à saúde provocados por substâncias contidas nesses alimentos. Nesse sentido,a rotulagem de alimentos deveria subsidiar o consumidor na escolha do produto garantindo a segurança alimentar e nutricional.

Ao conectarem diretamente viajantes e proprietários de imóveis, as plataformas online de aluguel por temporada vêm ganhando força, nos últimos anos, e, por representarem um tipo de inovação no setor de turismo, podem afetar diretamente os meios de hospedagem tradicionais. O presente estudo teve por objetivo investigar como esse tipo de consumo colaborativo afeta a competitividade dos meios de hospedagem localizados em cinco municípios do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, de acordo com a percepção de seus gestores. A pesquisa qualitativa, de caráter exploratório, foi realizada por meio de aplicação de questionário eletrônico. Quanto à percepção sobre econômica compartilhada, consumo colaborativo e plataformas online, os resultados indicaram duas situações possíveis: os gestores possuem entendimento limitado sobre esses temas e/ou apenas parte do que é reportado na literatura foi percebido por eles em seus empreendimentos. Em relação as estratégias consideradas mais importantes para manutenção da competitividade nessa nova conjuntura econômica, foram identificadas seis estratégias que revelaram, fundamentalmente, a preocupação dos gestores quanto à viabilidade, à diferenciação de seus negócios e ao alinhamento às tendências tecnológicas
The online home-rental platforms have been gaining strength lately, in the tourism sector, and, by connecting hosts and travelers, represent a kind of innovation that may affect traditional lodging enterprises. The present study aimed to investigate how this type of collaborative consumption affects the competitiveness of lodging facilities located in five cities of the State of Rio de Janeiro, according to the managers’ perception. The research is qualitative and exploratory. In respect to the perception of sharing economy, collaborative consumption and online platforms, the results indicated two possible situations: managers have a limited understanding of these themes and/or only part of what is reported in the literature was perceived by them in their businesses. Regarding the strategies considered most important for competitiveness maintenance in this new economic context, six strategies were identified and they fundamentally revealed the concern of managers on the feasibility, the differentiation of their businesses and on the alignment with technology trends

Antes de efetuar a apresentação do volume em questão, deve-se considerar que por ser a Administração uma ciência que consiste em gerenciar, estudar e sistematizar as práticas usadas para conduzir processos empresariais, tendo como escopo uma linhagem social, pois estuda as relações de eficiência através do ato de administrar ou gerir negócios, pessoas ou recursos, com o objetivo de alcançar metas definidas. Por não levarem em conta os impactos sociais que podem surgir diante dos processos decisórios empresariais efetuados, muitas falhas podem surgir e resultar em impactos negativos aos “olhos” do cenário mercadológico. Em seu amplo estudo administrativo as políticas governamentais adotadas acabam estendendo-se para outras partes do contexto social os quais não foram inseridos em momentos decisórios da formulação e aplicação de destas. Percebe-se que é de extrema relevância a inserção de questões que englobem aspectos sociais, ambientais, que envolvam: relações interpessoais, empreendedorismo, Instituições de Ensino Superior Públicas e Privadas, Pandemia, Hábitos de Consumo e Impactos Econômicos; no sentido de constituir uma sociedade que preze por justiça, igualdade, seja bem-sucedida e neste sentido, organizada. Diante dos contextos apresentados, o objetivo deste livro é a condensação de extraordinários estudos envolvendo a sociedade e o setor empresarial de forma conjunta através de ferramentas que a abordagem administrativa propicia. O planejamento tem sido um fator de sucesso em muitos segmentos de negócios e está cada vez mais sendo aprimorado e assumindo maior importância nas organizações. Não é diferente no setor de manutenção cuja necessidade de implementação se torna ainda mais evidente, já que requer recursos significativos das empresas. No caso do recurso "peças de reposição", o planejamento envolve principalmente a predição de demanda, usualmente procurando um prognóstico de evento que ocorrerá no futuro com base em dados passados. Quando executado adequadamente, o planejamento pode otimizar o estoque, obtendo o nível de serviço necessário e minimizando a falta ou excesso de peças. Para um grande número de itens, nos quais o monitoramento preditivo de todas as partes é impraticável, um processo usado é a análise de séries temporais históricas com técnicas econométricas e estatísticas. No entanto, uma questão recorrente é que, devido à característica de muitos itens de reposição, sua demanda é intermitente, com muitos intervalos sem consumo intercalados com a demanda real. Essa característica aumenta a incerteza da predição, juntamente com outras incertezas, como a obsolescência de peças e mudanças nos cenários interno e externo das empresas. Para propor melhorias nesse processo, este livro procurou analisar a demanda por peças de reposição, principalmente intermitente, de uma empresa do setor de manutenção de usinas de mineração. Foram aplicados métodos de predição descritos na literatura, tanto os convencionais quanto os mais recentes, e os recursos de otimização de parâmetros presentes no algoritmo de uma rotina computacional específica disponível na plataforma R-Studio. De acordo com os métodos de estimação e otimização utilizados, foram encontradas indicações do benefício dessas técnicas, conforme as medidas de erro utilizadas. Para pesquisas futuras, sugere-se uma associação com o aprendizado de máquina, que é uma área dedicada ao desenvolvimento de algoritmos que aprendem com os dados e contribui para o processo de modelagem e predição.

This article deals with real time embedded multiprocessor systems scheduling optimization using conventional and quantum inspired genetic algorithms. Real time scheduling problems are known to be NP-hard. In order to resolve it, researchers have resorted to meta-heuristics instead of exact methods. Genetic algorithms seem to be a good choice to solve complex, non-linear, multi-objective and multi-modal problems. However, conventional genetic algorithms may consume much time to find good solutions. For this reason, to minimize the mean response time and the number of tasks missing their deadlines using quantum inspired genetic algorithms for multiprocessors architectures. Our proposed approach takes advantage of both static and dynamic preemptive scheduling. This article has the developed algorithms on a typical example showing a big improvement in research time of good solutions in quantum genetic algorithms with comparison to conventional ones.

A produção de jaca no Brasil, ocorre nos meses de janeiro a abril, necessitando de tecnologias que preservem o fruto para consumo. A utilização do método de liofilização, conhecido como processo de secagem, oferece produtos de elevada qualidade. Este estudo almejou desenvolver um sorvete com a polpa de jaca liofilizada e avaliar a sua qualidade microbiológica, e sensorial, após a aplicação de uma pesquisa de mercado, abrangendo 120 participantes. Observou-se que 38,3% dos entrevistados consomem leite uma vez ao dia, 5,8% tem o hábito de consumir leite mais de três vezes ao dia e 15% não tem o hábito de consumo. Quanto ao consumo de frutas frescas, notou-se que somente 22,5% consomem três vezes ao dia. Notou-se que o consumidor de frutas desidratadas ainda é restrito, pois 65,8% dos entrevistados afirmaram não ter o hábito de consumir frutas desidratadas, sendo um ponto positivo e motivador para a elaboração de gelados comestíveis com adição da polpa de jaca liofilizada. Observou-se que a formulação F2 (7,40% de polpa de jaca liofilizada), apresentou intensidade para o sabor e aroma, cor, cremosidade, e doçura na “medida certa”, indicando que esta quantidade de polpa de jaca liofilizada adicionada no sorvete, atendeu às expectativas dos consumidores.

Pricing has always been a very important aspect of marketing a product. It assumes more importance as the price of the product also goes on to influence the margins of the intermediaries. It can be easily understood that the margins on a product impacts upon the commitment of the intermediaries or channel members. This in turn influences the willingness of the channel members to push the brand or the product to their customers. The channel members also expect a lot of support from the company in terms of advertisements or other consumer or trade promotion schemes. The quantum of support is dependent on the capacity of the company and the type of product and market they are operating in. This chapter also discusses about the franchise system and the electronic channel system which are now part of the channel strategy of almost all large companies.
